Moon willing to import empty glassware

Lunar Rheinland
17-12-2003, 16:17
The moon. A landscape, full of craters, lifeless, dead.

Except the domes. Rather busy domes, actually. In one of them, home to over 330000 people, part of 'Lunar Rheinland', the head of the 'Council for Oxygen issues' step up on the podium, and begins to talk, the cameras literally following the movement of his lips, while the present audience entertains itself by throwing cardboard planes at him.

A considerable amount of cardboard ´planes, actually, the podium is full of them, it`s impossible to see the actual floor.

"You`re ready?" The woman asking is at the end of her thirties, still, relatively good- looking. The man, small, looking nervous, black hair that looks like he just left his bed, wearing a pink T- Shirt, nods. "It´s... it´s ok, Gabrielle..."
"Don´t worry, it will go well. After all, why shouldn´t they say yes?"
"Yes, yes, i know..."

Their conversation is interrupted by one of the cameramen giving them a sign. They`re ready.

"And... GO!"

Gabrille is just outside the field of view, when the cameras come to life. The man stands there, alone, seemingly nervous.

"H... hello. I`m Justin Chamberlain, from the Free Land of Lunar Rheinland. I`m talking to you, nations of earth, people from earth, because of a serious problem that hit us, as well as several of our neighbors." He hesitates briefly.

"We need glassware. Empty, and sealed glasswere. You see... we have a distinct lack of empty, sealed glassware.

It is our understanding that several earth nations have production capacities for glassware they cannot use, since nobody< is willing to buy this valuable product.

However, we are willing to do it. We are your hope, your balanced trade bilanz, so to speak.

Since we need said glassware as fast as possible, we would like to contract upon 24 hours delivery base. The payment, as you will surely realise, will be most generous. Although, of course, empty, sealed glassware isn´t exactly expensive, so you will have to send us considerable amounts. Oh, and besides, we wont pay by weight, but by volume.

Thank you."

He stopped, and looked... well, nervus, sweaty.

"And... out. Record finished. We will broadcast it shortly."

"Anything ok?"
"Yes... yes, thank you, Gabrielle..."
"Well... i`m sure they will fall for it... they will believe they sell us their uselass crap, their glassware, while in fact, they will sell us..."
"Air... valuable, priceless air. 'Empty'... yes, for them it will look 'empty', but for us..." He grinned, seemingly less nervous. "We will succeed."

A few hours later, the 'Moon news' were broadcasted.
