Sapphire, cousin to Rayne, who was the only daughter of the governor of Empress Serene, sat at the throne. The governor was ill, with tuberculosis. Rayne was away she was in search of herself. Sapphire was not to have control, Rayne was, but with her absent put Sapphire in charge. She sat there with a bored look on her face. Her pale complexion was brought out more by her dark long wavy hair. She hadn’t bothered to let the servants do it. She would rather hide her expressions. She was 21 and 17 at heart. She did not want to sit all day and listen to the councilors blab on about what the citizens want. She was worried about her uncle, but they couldn’t let the citizens know. She hadn’t been listening to the councilors speak and she yelled out, “How about we throw a ball.” More a statement then a question.
One very old bald haired councilor said, “Nah, what would be the reason, without having the citizens there?”
“Well, let me take care of that.” Sapphire smiled a party. She raised her eyebrows. This could be definitely interesting. The small nation of Empress Serene, a subdivision of AmandaTheGreat, was known for its “magic” if you call it. The citizens wouldn’t pay heed to having more creatures come to its home.

Sapphire told her writers to send this out to other nations and to see what kind of response would be made.
To all of those who think they are immortal. There will be a ball held in your name. Take warning though there will be others there who think they are better. We will have a contest, among various talents. Some including intellectual, spiritual, and physically, plus others. Prizes shall be discussed at the time, but you will gain the respect of the others. Dress is black tie affair. Yet, bring some comfortable attire for the various activities planned. There is not a strict schedule for surprises are welcome. Maybe one of the prizes will interest a few of the males. I, Sapphire, am looking for the best. Please, arrive prompt. There will be food, dance, and entertainment. We will also provide rest in our palace. Thank you and I hope to see you all very soon.
First Lady of Empress Serene,
~Sapphire~

Sapphires eyes lit up as she read it. She had a few games in mind. A smile crept up on her face. She asked for her maids to get her red dress ready. A fire in her eyes began to ignite.
OOC: Just show up at the house in whatever means you want to. My character will be there to great you.

OOC: Hmm... Should I? Probably not... but, oh well! You did say "To all of those who think they are immortal"
IC: Staring at the paper, graazz the immortal read it slowly, aloud.
"Graazz like kontests! Prizes and food good, too. Kan I go?"
"I suppose." replied ZarIn, current High Chief of the VerDa-An. "We can always call you if there's trouble. Try to behave, though."
"Yah, uv korse." Graazz went home to change clothes. The eight foot tall Mad Troll looked rather strange in a suit, but he grinned and cheerfully stuffed his standard leather clothes into a sack.
To First Lady Sapphire:
I feel I should warn you that my officer of complaints, graazz the immortal, has decided to attend your ball. The mention of contests intigued him. He is a Mad Troll, and rather unpredictable. He's usually harmless except in battle, but he can be quite startling at times and isn't exactly high on social skills... If he's too much trouble, just send him back. The best of luck to you,
-ZarIn, current High Chief of the VerDa-An
He muttered a few words and clapped his hands, sending the paper to Empress Serene.

Graazz the immortal picked up the sack of clothes in one hand and his ax in the other. He started running into the forest in a random direction. A few minutes later the trees around him shimmered, and he arrived at the palace.

Sapphire heard the pounding on the ground. She heard some shrill cries from the townspeople. She laughed. I did saw immortal. A troll. She did not have to see it to feel it and well smell it. She did find them funny and humor was a strong suit to wear.

Sapphire wondered who else would come. A vampire, a witch, a giant, an alien, she just didn’t know until they were closer to her.

At this time she waited in the large entrance to the ball. She was wearing a red dress. It clung to her as if second skin or as if it were her skin. It sparkled under the light and in the dark it was blood red. The neckline was low and on her neck she wore a sapphire. The dress fell to the floor and she was bare foot. Her hair had more curls in it and she wore it down. She had a white gold crown on; it gathered some of her curls out of her eyes, while they bounced down her back. Her back was mostly shown. The dress cut down to the small of her back. On the small of her back was a small tattoo. The tattoo was an ancient writing in Arabic and it meant fire.

ZaIn, current High Chief of VerDa-An,
I do appreciate the warning, but I will be expecting others to come that will also be dangerous. Some of the fights will be held out in our open fields, to not damage our palace or our crops. Thank you. I do invite you also to attend. It shall be worth it. There are many surprises at hand.

Morty's phone rang.

"Hullo!" he said. The voice on the other end of the phone was his old friend the Emporer.

"Hi Morty. I got a letter from AmandaTheGreat about some ball and contest or other thing. For Immortals. You wanna go?"

Morty thought for a second, then, seeing as he had nothing better do to, said, "Sure, why not? pice me up in an hour." He put on his blue overcoat and a tie with some sunglasses. He also packed his weapons. "Lets see, Sword, Bow, Whip, Pistols, is that it? Yup, looks like it." He waited until the emporer's plane picked him up and sped him to AmandaTheGreat. A few hours later he walked into the hall of the palace and started to admire the arcitecture of the building.

Graazz strode up, walking more quietly now. His eyes dart about constantly; he fears nothing, but has learned over the course of his long life that it is best to be careful. Well, as careful as he can...
The Mad Troll was dressed in a white shirt, black pants, shoes, and jacket, and a bright purple tie. He held a massive battle ax in one hand, and carried a sack over one shoulder.
"You are Safire?" he asked.
OOC: (As you've probably noticed, he spells things "fonetikly"- even when he's talking. Don't be surprised by anything he does; a lot of his abilities, and no small number of his actions, are basically random.
IC: ZarIn replied: I thank you for the invitation, but I am very busy right at the moment. Besides, I am not immortal... Enjoy your ball; it sounds like great fun. I always like surprises... but there is much that I must work on. VerDa is a complicated country to run.

Sapphire smiled and nodded a yes. Her curls bounced with the movement. “Welcome.” She moved sideways as to allow the troll past her. She pointed to the long table filled with food. The table itself could not be seen that is how much food was on it. The food held a variety of tastes to fulfill all of a person’s senses. “Go ahead, I am sure you are hungry from the trip.” She gave him a plate and smiled again at the troll’s look of apprehension. “You can always go back for more. We will not run out.” A few maids ran about prepping the food. One put garnish on while the others brought out large trays of each ethnic dish. “We have a variety of cooks, each from a different back round. I assume we have all kinds of foods for different pleasures. If you have any requests let me know. So, do you have any ideas for a good battle?”
Sapphire’s eyes glowed as she asked the question.

Zader looked over the letter. [i]Hm. What have we here? Well, looks interesting. Not exactly what I was looking for, but no harm can come of it. May as well see what this is all about.

Some few days later, a black motorcycle pulled up in front of the palace, and aman in black leather riding gear dismounted. Looking up and down the building, he stated "Yup. This must be the place."

He took off his helmet, clipping it to the bike, walked up the steps, and knocked.

The message reached Shadowscale Swiftblade at his hut deep in the Black Marsh. A Dark Argonian of some renoun among the two peoples, Shadowscale held the title of Blademaster among his people. He was old by Argonian standards, around nine hundred and fifty three years old, but Dark Argonians were immortal. Sure, they died in battle, but that didn't happen that often. Shadowscale had been training hard since his recent loss at the hands of the Argonian outcast, Whiptail Longtail, several years ago. Every day for those years he had practiced his technique from dawn until dusk, until his arms burned and head rang. He would attend this festival, he decided after an extended practice session. Shadowscale simply did not return to his hut, he began his journy out of the Marsh with his katana and the black chitin armor on his back. Shadowscale was a man of combat, knowing nothing of 'black ties'

OOC: Before people start asking questions, Argonians and Dark Argonians are bipedal lizards. The only major difference being that Argonians are green and Dark Argonians are charcoal black.

After a journey of many days, and a ride on a large metal beast know as an 'air-plane', the quiet warrior arrived in the strange and beautiful land of AmandaTheGreat. After a heated exchange with several customs officials, Shadowscale was on his way to the 'palace'. As he understood it, it was the place where the Elders of this strange land dwelled. As the warrior neared the stairs leading to the large and ornate doors, his eyes beheld a pair of beings engaged in conversation. His curious nature led him to investigate.

A rather mysterious email arrived in the inbox of one Jack Bray, detailing some sort of gathering of immortals. 'F**k it, I might as well be immortal with all the shit that's happened lately. Hell, maybe 'Pac an' Fifty'll be there, we'll make it a party.' He thought as he tugged on his trademark black leather trenchcoat. Jack was a man who spared no expense, a man of excess to the extreme: His clothes were always of the finest quality, his guns were platinum plated, and his car was a classic with more modifications than he cared to discuss. Jack called a taxi for the ride to the airport, not trusting his car with the airport security. Flashing a false law enforcement permit to get his 'luggage' through the baggage check, he boarded his flight with little incident. He slept most of the way, a light and dreamless doze; more to pass the time than anything.
Jack awoke as the aircraft touched down in AmandaTheGreat. Stepping out of the terminal, he surveyed the scene. 'Amanda the great what? Hell, maybe she's a great lay. I'm sure I'll find out soon enough...' Jack mused as he started off in the direction of the palace with his bag slung over his shoulder.

Hours later he stepped out of his carriage and looked up at the impressive palace. 'I'll enjoy my stay here.'

IC:

In an exspensive hotel in Iuthia Prime, Vlad Corvost, Iuthia's chart topping Goth music artist and self-proclaimed vampire, was on the phone with his agent over possible advertising of his new Album "Crying for the Darknesss Within". At this point Vlad wasn't looking too happy, sitting on his silk bed staring at the phone that was speaking out to him on speaker phone.

"Vlad, baby! I swear, we must use some public event to improve your profile abroad, make you an international star whom all the ladies pine over..." It loudy stated.

"I know I know, my music needs to reach more fans, in Free Iuthia they hardly understand my music... I don't blame them either... I've lost my muse." He looked down towards the floor, his voice filled with disapointment.

"I've got just the thing Vlad, baby. Some immortal chick is holding a ball for immortals of the international community and it could make a huge impression on the Goth crowd on a international scale..."

"I suppose, but what good will it be if I don't have my muse? My focus of my music..." He complained...

"I suppose you may meet that special person, after all, most of your songs are about the darkness within, maybe you'll meet someone like that..."

"Then all do... if not for me then for my music..."

"You are your music baby, thats why they love you... now don't worry about a thing, I'll sort out the details..."

The phone hung up and the tone droned for a moment before cutting out... Vlad sat on his bed for a moment and then lay down for some rest.

Sapphire laughed. "I just assumed you knew who she was because of the tone you came off in. Lady Amanda is somewhat a confusing thing to explain, but she is many things to our people. One of those things is a muse, some other things would be she is also called an angel, a witch, and even a eternal human. It would take me awhile to explain, but you can always ask me later. As for your name." She winks, "I must have made a lucky guess."

A small boy wearing black pants and a white button shirt ran up to Sapphire and tugged on her dress. She bent down to met him and took the letter he had in her hand. She read over it. Hmmm. A vampire. Yet, a rich spoiled vampire, but weren't they all. She smiled. She whispered into the boys ear. He was to write a letter in response. The vampire would be welcome here.

"So, are you hungry? Help yourself to our buffet of food." She pointed to the two tables filled with a variety of food. Sapphire went to the table herself and grabbed a carrot stick. Vlad Corvost entered the nation using a private jet paid for by IMI records, with him was Michael Jarome, his agent. It was a pretty boring trip for Vlad, he sat watching previous footage of his live performances in the Bolivar Auditorium, sadly destroyed after the Whispering Voices incident concerning the Vampire Conference... not that he cared about the destruction of a historical building, he was feeling low because his sales were down for the year.

After leaving his jet in a simplistic way (for security reasons) he was directed to a hotel to change his clothes for the party, he desided to go with evening wear and a dark blue cape, to go with the cliche' of vampirism. After his specialists added make up to his image he went off to join the others at the party, being transported in a simple black limozine.

He came out of his limozine and then walked up to the enterance, two gaurds in black suits either side of him. He was a skinny tall man, his complexion looked almost white and sickly, but his suit was reasonable, like it was crafted by italian designers themselves. The walked into the hall and introduced himself in a mock accent.

"Vlad Corvost, as invited mam'" He bowed.

"Close enough. I don't age, and that's one aspect of immortality. Besides, it says, 'To all those who think they are immortal.'" She grinned. "Send my kindest regards to First Lady Sapphire, and ask politely if I can attend."

"What do you say?" she asked him with a playful tone to her voice. "Getting to socialise with immortals."

Kazushi gave a tiny inclination of the head.
"If my queen so wishes."

"You're not happy about it," she said, and sighed. "You're so difficult to please, my friend, do you know that?"

Ayane had found the door slightly open, and she stepped in almost shyly. She was dressed not in her full regal attire, but smartly nonetheless, her clothes gently sparkling under the light. As she looked round, she saw the variety of beings talking, eating, and sitting round apparently engaged in some sort of card game.

Immortals...

Don't be shy, she told herself sternly. You're a head of state. Act the part.

Sapphires eyes flashed and she grinned. "Well, this game is not really going anywhere. You are more than welcome to continue, but I think I might take him up on a small battle." She slipped out of her chair and walked over to a near by wooden door. There was a large padlock on it and she opened it with her skeleton key. The room remained dark, even when the bright lights from the room tried to seep into it. She walked into the room and came back shortly there after with a small bottle. It was misshaped and dusty. She also had a long thin sword. It took the light and refracted it in all directions. She poured the liquid over the sword. She saturated the sword with it, covering all the metal, even up to the handle. She took the bottle and put it back into the room and locked the door. No odor came from the liquid and no color stained the sword. It looked as if nothing was on the sword at all. "Are you ready?"
17-01-2004, 23:55
I do believe that I would be considered late yes? No matter, to your guests, time is nothing but an abandoned concept of mortals, which has its uses at some times. A concept which has left me lacking in it. My apologies for being late, I may still have this unique possibility to attend, Sapphire, for my own buisness has been concluded. Would you have me, Kain Irenicus, one considered immortal by most being's judgement, at this occasion?

The voice trickled in to Sappires mind, Kain's soft elaborate and sophisticated voice, the voice sounding like a chiming of a glass for a toast, completely clear with perfect clarity above the innane chatter of guests.

Kain had received the note, yet had not opened it due to "buisness" as Kain so interestingly put. Buisness with a old enemy and freind. Kain was upon his island, communicating through the mind powers he possessed. He was currently putting on some decent clothing, discarding the ripped ones from the aftermath of the buisness he had completed. Kain took a white suit, one which he hastily had constructed, yet was elegant and equally stunning...one which was still being constructed as Kain spoke the soft melodic words of magic. Kain knew that he would be accepted into this, his name apparently had traveled many lands, and his reputation did preceed him on many occasion.

OOC: I think some description is needed here.

IC: Kojak jumped down the stairs four at a time. He looked menacing in his tight black leather fighting clothes that gripped his huge muscles well. Built in to the black leather was his armour, extra hard titanium plates, with padding on the inside, against ordinary mortals he was virtually indestructible they would need to use daylight on him. His jet black eyes were the sort to stare straight through you and being six foot six he was able to be a forceful vampire. His armoury was no less threatening with twin silver katanas slung in scabbards over his broad shoulders. His other weapons included an assortment of knives on his belt, a short bow with silver tipped and ordinary arrows, also, tucked away in pockets he had knuckle-dusters and other evil looking weaponry that nobody except him really knew what they were used for. He was the sort one wouldn’t want to meet in a dark alley, unless they were vampire hunters or other vampires.

“I’m as ready as ever! What is that stuff you just put on your sword, I take it I’ll get hurt if you hit me with it. Are we actually going to try to kill each other? Or is it just tests and stuff?” He ran over to where Sapphire stood with her gleaming sword and waited for the other people to get their weapons for the fight.

With the others going about there business, he simply leaned against the wall in the corner, remaining eerily quiet. Ayane watched as the others prepared for combat. There was far more going on here than she could hope to grasp, fragile semi-mortal that she was. But she would do her part.

She had sword training, to some extent, as was customary since the earliest times of the Ninth Line. Not enough, probably, to stand up to anyone here. She wondered suddenly if she was going to do. Her stomach clenched, but a thrill of adrenalin pumped through her. Survival might just be an interesting challenge...

I have to prove worthy of it.

"Would anyone have a sword to lend me?" she asked, surprised at how calm her own voice was.
Molifodia
19-01-2004, 03:43
The President of Molifodia and his entourage burst through the door, snapping it in half and knocking it off it's hinges. They set down the battering ram and looked across the strange assortment of characters that had assembled here. The look of disbelief on the President's face was compounded by some minor snickering from behind him.

"This is Egomaniacs Anonymous right? I received this telegram about a meeting for people who think they're immortal and I..." The vacant looks he received could only mean that he was either too late or in the wrong place. "Look people....and lizards and assorted beasties, I'm searching for a man who is searching for a man. don't mind me and my people, we're just going to have a look and see if either of the two are here."

Simultaneously the group broke off and wandered into different rooms. From the kitchen, the sound of cabinets being thrown open and flatware being dropped echoed. From the bathroom there emanated a wide variety of sounds which are commonly associated with the act of excretion. A very messy one by the sound of it. Throughout the rest of the house the sounds of furniture being overturned and thrown out the windows coupled with that of chain saws cutting various obscure proverbs in the original languages into the walls and doors.

This commotion continued on for about ten minutes. Then it all abruptly stopped and all of the oddly dressed persons returned from the different rooms. The President looked over at the small man who had come from the bathroom.

"Johnson. Did you find a bathroom?"

"Yes sir." he replied timidly.

"And did you forget to flush?"

"Yes sir."

"Good man." He turned to face his hosts with smile on his face. "He's been holding it in for some time. It was some bad salmon we think." The dumb looks continued.

"Well nevermind that. We didn't find either of the two that we were looking for. so should you come across the Awful Waffle Walker or the Archduke anytime soon, let him know we were here and we left messages for him on the walls upstairs."

With that the President pulled out a cigar and lit it with a match that seemed to come from no where. Turning to leave, he dropped the still lit match on the carpet and walked out.

"Good man. He's been holding it in for some time. It was some bad salmon we think." Morty was speechless as the man dropped a match onto the carpet and walked out. He tried for a moment to figure out what in the hell had just happned, but decided to put the flaming carpet out instead. He stamped his foot on the flame before it could spread, still confused. Almost as an afterthougt, he answered Ayane's qestion.

"Yes, i have one. Its a longsword, if you dont mind. I think I'll get mine too; i could do with a little swordplay."

The High Chancellor bounded up the front steps and paused momentarily at the shattered door. Bent forward with hands on knees, he let loose with a string of assorted swear words while panting. “D*mn guys never wait for me….”

While still bent, he turned slightly to look through the doorway. The scene of utter destruction that greeted him confirmed his belief that he was on the right track.

He sighed. “No doubt those Molifodians were here.” The High Chancellor stood upright and wrinkled his nose, “and it smells like they brought Johnson.”

Noting the disgruntled looks of the current occupants, he decided it would be best to move on… and quickly. Traveling alone in an attempt to gain speed, he didn’t have the luxury of letting a troupe of burly bodyguards protect him. Besides, if he waited much longer, he’d miss most of the Awful Waffle Walker hunt.

Caffeinneburg
19-01-2004, 05:34
The Archduke of Caffeinneburg gingerly stepped over the shattered remains of the doorway, absently kicking aside a few of the larger pieces. His elegant clothing utterly failed to show off the size of his muscles (if they actually existed), but demonstrated beyond all doubt that he had a checking account of mastadonic proportions. His shiny black riding boots and driving gloves (made from genuine smilodon-leather) could deflect any bladed or blunt weapon wielded by the average toddler. His finely-woven jacket could hold a variety of deadly weapons and nasty devices, had its pockets not held a seemingly endless supply of Mountain Dew bottles. His vest, if it was bulletproof, was a masterfully color-coordinated bulletproof, and his silk cravat positively oozed power and charisma. His hair was tied back with a gorgeous blue ribbon which complimented the color of his eyes and no doubt made him immune to negative status ailments. He flicked a bit of plaster from his sleeve, and spoke in a voice that was clearly accustomed to power and command.

"Ohmygaw, just look at this place! What is this, the toolshed? Don't you dare try to tell me people actually live here! And what's with this mess? Was there a tornado? Am I in Kansas? Let's get with the program, people!"

He clapped his hands twice, and a band of similarly sartorially-blessed Caffeinneburghers ran into the house after him, followed closely by several camera crews. They fanned out and rushed through the house, taking note of the guests and the furnishings. Every so often, the Archduke's stentorian voice could be heard passing judgment upon the house.

"Oooh, the upstairs is very nice! I love that American Graffiti look! And. . . Oh, hey, it looks like Mean Ol' Mister Molifodia was here! And he left me a message! How sweet! Well, look at. . . Holy guacamole, is this a 1.6-liter toilet? Major faux pas! And it looks like Johnson's been using this! Man, he must have been desperate. Look, kids, if you're gonna have indoor plumbing, you have to go with at least 3 liters, do you hear me?"

The Archduke's entourage reconvened around the poker table as the Archduke himself came downstairs, sliding along the bannister. He looked sternly at the crowd. "Look, I don't know who's been decorating this place, but my God, it's time to make the hurting stop! Now, this is a pretty big place, so we're gonna have to find some way to get you a Christopher Lowell house on a Tim Taylor budget, but that's okay. I've pulled bigger miracles out of. . . well, never mind, I'm sure you don't want to hear that story. Oh, and. . ." his voice trailed off as he laid eyes on Kojak.

"Oh my goodness, call the National Guard! It's a Class One Fashion Emergency! Skin-tight black leather is so late 90's! I have to tell you, I can understand where you're coming from, I know you want to show off that firm physique, but I have to be honest with you. . . no one wants to have to stare at your meaty man-titties."

He stalked around Kojak, appraising him. "Now I have to admit, I'm normally not one to go for the mesomorphic cadaver look, but I think we can set you up. I'm seeing you in a nice fiber weave, maybe some earth-tones, something that says you're comfortable in a coffin, but you don't spend your whole life there. I don't know what's in your closet, but I'm willing to bet it's more of the same, am I right?"

The Archduke shrugged without waiting for an answer. "Come on, we're gonna get you some nice outfits for a change. We're gonna Saks you up, baby! Come on, the ArchdukeMobile is waiting!" The Archduke gestured toward a burly blonde (but immaculately dressed) Varangian, whose forked beard had an appealingly silky sheen. "And while we're on the road, Halvard here can give you some advice about hair-care products. Let's roll out, people!" Interior decorators swarmed into the house as the Archduke and his assistants dashed out the door, barely glancing back to see whether or not Kojak was following.

He knew he wouldnt have time to change so he stuck with his Hawaiian Shirt and Jeans, and since it was black tie attire, a black tie. He also was confident in his fighting ability against mere mortals that he dismissed the idea of an ambush outside. He was too curious to find out what the archduke had in store for him.

He also was confident in his fighting ability against mere mortals that he dismissed the idea of an ambush outside. He was too curious to find out what the archduke had in store for him.

OOC: Anyone is more than welcome to join. It is more fun that way. Seeming I missed some interesting things going on I will just have the continued conversation with Kain. Once, I am out of that then I will have Sapphire answer the question of the battle.

IC: Sapphire smiled as she saw her reflection in her beloved sword. It was heavy in her hand, but she grew from its familarity. It had been awhile since she had used it. She usually just practiced with wooden swords. This was always different, but the same. She heard his voice. She responded with excitement, it dripped from her saultry voice.

My, Kain, showing himself here. I would feel privledged for you to be in company with us. We are in need of some excitement, well, at least I am. I hope you keep in mind I would like to practice with you. Alittle one on one. That is if you don't mind. I do need to get back to my guests. Do hurry. I assume you know the way.

During the time she was conversing with Kain her eyes were clear, but unfocused. She seemed in a whole new world of her own. She pulled herself out of that and back into the reality in her palace.

Her eyes sparkled and widened at the new arrival of her guests. "Welcome, to our palace. I do hope though that next time you go to a foreign country and make your way into a different palace you keep in mind their culture and that might be quite disrespectfull to not clean up after yourself. Luckly, I have attendents that have disposed of the problem. Also, you are very lucky that I am a forgiving person because you do not want to see me mad." She glared at the the men who had caused an odor not fit for anyplace.

Kain with his unusal white suit, matching his white hair and contrasting in his green leathery skin, walked forward....vapor becoming him, his legs turning into a thick grey gas.

---

Near Sappire, what appeared to be a ghostly apparation of steam walked from the wall. With each step, the character became more physical, his cloven feet making thier usual padded noise...his body forming into the room. He walked with gravid ease, when his face was dour. It always was, those brown eyes, eople had to struggle to retain focus when staring into them, they where oceans of deep oceans. Deep pain. Deep torment. Deep memories.

Kain was wearing a white suit, none like any had seen. It was completely magical in nature, constructed from the raw fabric of reality as clothing. It was pure white, which silvery-blue swirls and patterns upon the shoulders and chest. It suited Kain rather well, a welcome change. But upon the back of his suit, was a large emblem of his clan, a rather disturbing impossibly deep black, which seemed to absorb the light....

"Sapphire. You called? I am here." Kain said, rather happily than he would normally be, but it was barely a fraction. It was mainly in politeness. He simply wanted to forget tonight.

He looked around the room, analysising the others.

Weaklings most. The demon spoke to Kain, it's presence around Kain suppressed. It understood that the presance, even if not seen, but felt, would be rather innapproprate right now.

Indeed, but it depends how you define weak. I in comparison am the weakest, bound to you. Kain replied cooly.

A most apt and appropraite answer Kain. the demon replied within his mind.

"I see you have attracted a numerous set of guests.. I am here because others judge me as immortal, not that the title holds the same appeal as it did for your pleasure and your guests it seems. But I will leave you to your guests Sapphire, for a good host should not keep them waiting."

But we know the truth of some of these people's opinions of themselves, correct? Kain's voice trickled into her mind by telepathy as he walked away, his wonderous white hair, gleaming silver it seemed.

Kain walked off into the quieter corners of the room....he sighed and wondered why he come here. Obligation? Wanting to forget? Want of society?

Bah, it does not matter. I came because it makes a welcome change from the dull pain Kain thought to himself as he viewed the other guests.

Alexander Kelsing walked straight through the wide open entrance left by the coming of Molifodia's entourage. He had waited for a way to make it into the grand building, and when opportunity knocked, or rather BARGED right through, Kelsing did not hesitate.

When he was requested by the Hyraphore leader Diretlen to attend this contest of the immortals, he had complied. He had finally made peace with the ghosts of his past, and perhaps it was a way to get a feel for what the future bore.

Alexander looked around at all the different species of warriors. Whether or not they were really immortal, he suspected he would find out. They too would know in time of his vampiric roots.

Alexander looked around at noone in particular, and bared his fangs. Everyone was preparing for some sort of conflict. Perhaps the physical componant would be soon.

Pulling out his "Upir" sword, Alexander walked over to the wall and waited. His black trenchcoat flowed over his stark black suit and the two .50 desert eagles hidden within. He would fine until the proceedings started.

OOC: Sorry I'm late, everyone

"Why the hostilities? Expecting conflict? If so, I thought you would have come better prepared." Kain simply whispered to Alexander, his voice perfectly clear to Alexander, even though he was half way accross the room. Kain was leaning against a wall alone, his arms crossed. He looked extremely serious, although there was subtle satire in his voice. But Alexander could see this being was a vampire.....yet not. Something about this figure....the reputed Kain Irenicus.

His deeds where many, yet he promoted none of his actions. He had turned to something of a celebrity, a hero to some blind fools Kain thought. All he wanted was to be judged for what he was now. What was he know?

You know damn well what you are. The demon whispered to him.

Kain ignored it. Kain had a aura...a presance of power around him, as though with a single whim he could make time stop for his lesuire, or make the room become completely silent for his will. Something....quiet, non-assuming power about himself. He was not arragont, he simply knew what he was.

Nothing the world....this one or the next had ever seen. This was Kain Irenicus, the word meaning in elvish "Broken One, Exiled One" a name made from choice. It was rather apt.

(OOC For those who do not know what Kain looks like, but he is wearing a white suit as described earlier.)

Alexander gripped his sword tighter when he heard the voice. It was a deep, dark timbre, and he could not see where it had come from.

Suddenly, the room seemed tyo mysteriously part way for Alexander to catch glimpse of a man in a white suit.

The Alucarde pendant around Alexander's neck pulsed, but in a strange way. The man was a vampire, but... something more.

That's when it hit Alexander: the man was the one Driretlen had warned him about. The one whose named was feared and revered in the same breath.

"Kain..."

Alexander was sure that he would bump into the vampire... no, demon, soon enough.

He gripped his short sword tighter.

"Good evening madame Sapphire, allow me to indtroduce myself, I am Mike, the founder of the Mikatopian Nation and Intergalactic explorer." He bowed and kissed her hand. He knew he looked a bit akward next to her in her rather fine attire while he wore a hawaiian shirt and jeans.

President Marshall read the letter from the nation of AmandaTheGreat.

Chuckling, he whispered to no one in particular,"All who think they are immortal eh? Does she not know of vampires?"

He glanced at the man sitting in the dimly lit office, Maximus, his most trusted friend, elder, and the head of the TVM (Tarlachian Vampiric Military). Maximus had once been a mortal, hundreds of years ago, but one called Skadi, decided to allow him to join the ranks of the dead. Since then, the entire nation had undergone a drastic change in population. What was once a minority faction, the vampires, was now the majority. President Marshall, upon learning of the unstoppable changes within his government, had listened to to Maximus's argument for the necessity for Marshall to become a minion of the darkness. President Marshall had complied, seeing that this would be the only way to keep power in his nation. Now, for 343 years, he had ruled Tarlachia with a strong arm, but considerate of the rights of the people and vampires within.

"You are to attend this invitational party in AmandaTheGreat. You will need your weapons, and a black tie suit. When you are ready, you may go."

Maximus nodded, and turned and left without a word. Gathering his few possessions he owned; a sword, known as Glamdring, of the finest quality that could no longer be duplicated in the world these days; twin Elven daggers, both sporting a strong, sturdy, slightly curved blade, and a handle made from the Lothlorien White Rocks of the Lothlorien Woods of Middle Earth. These were magnificient pieces to behold indeed, as they continued to magnificiently withstand the abrasions of time. Maxmius also pulled out his dragon armor, lightweight and flexible, yet extremely capable of deflecting sharp objects and bullets aimed toward him. This was put into his duffel bag, along with his bracers. His weapons had served him well all his life, and were supported with his extensive knowledge of martial arts. He had been a triple-black-belt as a human, and now these skills only served to make him a more formidable opponent.

An assistant came to the door.

"Your ride is ready, master."

Maximus nodded, closed his bag, and fitted Glamdring to his belt, and his daggers to his back side. He followed the assistant outside, where his ride awaited. A low growl emitted from the crimson-red dragon, as it recognized its owner. This dragon was the largest and most fierce of the dragons that resided in the mountains of Tarlachia, and had lived for centuries. Small flames emitted from the beast's mouth, scorching the ground below it, as it prepared itself for the long flight to their destination.

The vampire handed his bag to the assistant, who immediately took it and tied it to the dragon's fore-leg, making sure that the bag remained.

A few hours later, thanks to the incredible speed of the beast, which rivaled the humans' aircraft, he began to approach the palace. Maximus instantly heard the faint clangs of swords ringing in the night even though he was still just over 3 miles from the palace and closing in fast. This was going to prove to be an interesting event, that he knew.

The dragon let out an audible roar; just loud enough to rattle the windows of the palace thus announcing his arrival; as Maximus guided it down to land on the expansive lawn several hundred yards from the front entrance. He dismounted, retrieved his duffle bag, and patted the powerful dragon, their eyes locking, as he commanded telepathically for it to fly off and have some down time. The dragon's jaws opened slightly, letting a low growl out to show his compliance.

Maximus watched as the beast turned, and began to flap its expansive wings, stirring a great wind which shook the trees, and took off into flight. Soon, the dragon had disappeared over the trees, out of sight.

Maximus stepped into the shadows, pulled out and donned his black tie suit. He readjusted the scabbard for Glamdring so it would be on his back, and placed his daggers inside the bag, on top of his armor. The dragonian armor was the pride trade of Tarlachia, and their skills in creating it were known to many.

A few minutes later, Maximus was at the door. He knocks were sure, his face set. In his hand he held the bag. He licked his lips slightly, partly chapped from the cool night air. His tongue slipped back into his mouth, avoiding the sharp, deadly fangs that guarded the entrance. He stopped knocking, and waited...

Alexander's pendant pulsed rhytemically. There was another vampire near...

That's when he heard the knock at the side door.

Throwing one final glance back in the general direction of Kain, Alexander slipped the Upir back in his sheath and made his way to the door. He slipped back the chain-lock and opened the door.

In front of him stood a man in a black-tie suit. He carried a duffle bag, and had a scabbard strapped to his back.

Alexander could not be sure, but he swore he could smell the lingering scent of brimfire...

"So... I'm assuming that you are here for the competition as well?"

Great, Alexander thought, another vampire to contend with.

Maximus nodded politely, studying the man who had opened the door.

He walked in, turned toward the man, and introduced himself.

"My name is Maximus, and you are?" he questioned the man.

"I'm Alexander, nice to meet you.", the man replied, "What weapons did you bring for the competition?"

Maximus led him to one of the empty tables, several tables away from the poker game in play. He dropped his bag down, which made a slight thumping noise. The two sat, as Maximus began to lay his weapons upon the table, first his sword, Glamdring, unsheathed. Maximus bent down, opened his bag, and pulled out the twin Elven daggers. He placed them on top of the table. Next, he pulled out his crimson-red colored dragon armor, dusted it off, and laid it on the other side of Glamdring, closest to Alexander.

The bag lay empty on the floor. "That's all you brought?" Alexander inquired. This wasn't a lot to use. There's got to be some other weapon or secret that this stranger wasn't sharing.

"Now you, show me your arsenal."

Ayane nodded upon being told teams would be formed for one-on-one confrontations. She looked round at the newcomers, a faint chill creeping through her at the aura emanating from most of them.

"Very well," she said, lifting the blade she had been handed. She smiled slowly, and just a little nervously. "Whose team am I on... And who is to be my opponent?"
20-01-2004, 18:06
"For some," nodding to Kain, "it is obvious, but for others it is not. So! I would like to know why each of you thinks that you are immortal."

Kain smiled slightly at the nod, at least some knew true immortality, not that it was not only a gift. It was a double edged sword, harming the user for all it's gifts.....ones Kain still felt harder than ever before.

That's when it hit Alexander: the man was the one Driretlen had warned him about. The one whose named was feared and revered in the same breath.

"Kain..."

Alexander was sure that he would bump into the vampire... no, demon, soon enough.

He gripped his short sword tighter.

Kain eyes shined once, thier brown portals showing a bare glimmer of his power, and it was horrifying, yet intocating to his curiousity. For a moment there, he felt something about Kain, an intagnible feeling of someone else helping him, as though this rather quiet individual was powerful than all the others, that he did not have to brag or prove himself to anyone. It was like the situation with the gunsman who everyone heard from him that he was the best shooter in the world, and the silent gunsman who everyone knew was the best.

But then the overwhemling feeling of fear of this being, fear of the unexpected, fear of not knowing what the hell he was, not knowing his intentions, faded as though it had never been.

"I see my name preceeds me Alexander, and that blade of you detects what I have still flowing though my viens." Kain noted, still retaining that unfearful voice, as though there was no danger from anything or anyone.

The sword did not seem so sensative to Kain....Kain was not wholly vampire. He was something else, as everyone knew just from his apperance. Yet his aura was not which filled the room, only when you looked at Kain....looked into those harrowing eyes which almost said "I know what you are. I know every secret of yours. You are child to me." Not mockingly, but as a fact.

While sitting at the table, Maximus heard a cold voice from his past.

No....it couldn't be....how did he fail to detect the great power emanating from him?

Turning slowly, Maximus finally caught sight of the man that he both respected and feared. Kain. Kain, the man full of pain. And power.

"Kain. So you have gifted us all with your presence. It is good to see you my friend." he addressed the ornately well-dressed Kain.

This stakes had been raised. Kain had come. Many would suffer in each others hands, but in Kain's, they would beg for death and mercy.

This stakes had been raised. Kain had come. Many would suffer in each others hands, but in Kain's, they would beg for death and mercy.

Kain's power was not as radiating as it was when they had last sensed each other. But Maximus detected that power still, as though Kain had suppressed it. When he drew neared, he felt the power more. It was like he was being sucked in, the light being absorbed and twisted by those eyes.

Those terrifying eyes! He saw his own reflection....and he saw his own (I assume he is a vampire, sorry I have forgotten) reflection....and saw various life behind him. The small plant behind him in reality was blooming and in full vigour of life, yet in Kain's brown eyes....it was dying and dead, the leaves blackened. And.....for only a split second did something which Maximus could not even believe....for it was gone before his eyes could believe it. He saw a spectre of death....in all of it's greyness....those cold eyes of the spectre flashed before Maximus before Kain blinked.

The visions were gone, Maximus could take no more of them and treid not to stare into them. Kain knew the effect he had on people. He heard the same phrase that the demon had said echoing within his mind.

Those powerful attract those who desire power. And often, those with power, never wanted it at all, or are ill-equip for it

"I am not your friend. I barely know you. You are a grey face in the audience, who wishes to step up to the stage and bask in the light. Well the light is bright, but step up if you wish, just do not get blinded and fall over upon the stage, there are plenty other people who wish to step up. Gifted you with my presence? Think what you will. Is there something you wanted of me?" Kain asked irritably, his eyes narrowing upon Maximus.

What the devil is going on? Strangers thinking me as friends, friends, as though they were strangers. This world is going crazy.

Maximus did his best to keep a straight face. Kain's eyes, so dark and mysterious were quite unnerving to look into. Few could look him in the eye without turning away.

"I'm sorry, Kain. Do not be offended. I was merely trying to be friendly toward you, considering how so many others have had other goals in mind. I seek none of your power, nor anything else you possess, it does not interest me. I only seek your friendship. Long ago, an acquaintance of mine and I intercepted a woman who bore your mark, and warned us to stay away, to leave you your peace. My acquaintance sought out your power. I eventually broke away from him to warn you of his coming. Do you not remember this? Surely at the least, you can show some recognition of my existence."

Maximus was shaken, he didn't like the eyes of Kain boring into him, as if they would rip out his soul and devour them. He wondered if Kain had that capability. He sure hoped not, for that would be a horrid death. To wander the world, soul-less, no remnants of human traits left, except for the brutality of murder and anger. One would be left as a shell of a being, a worse state of being than even that of an insect. An illusion of murder.
20-01-2004, 23:29
"You would not want to be my freind. My freinds tend to fade away from me, die most horrid deaths I am afraid. I do not wish that upon anyone. And that woman....I am glad she is doing her duty to me. You may think me cruel for doing so, but when she dies in her pitifully short mortal life....she will be the greatest of people, learning the lessons that time will have taught her, the afterlife embracing her with the most golden of fields of happiness. Fine. I will recoginse your existance, but do not place any responcibility to me when you get hurt." Kain said, as a matter of factly.

Alexander put one of his hands on Maximus's arms.

"Alright... thats enough. Both of you. Looks like we're all in this thing, so lets not start the hostilities until we're on the clock, okay?"

Alexander absent-mindedly fingered the Alucarde pendant around his neck. That was the source of his sensitivity to vampires, not his sword.

"Oh, and Kain... I'd aprreciate it if you not call me a child again."

Alexander drew back one side of his trench coat to reveal one of his desert eagles.

"Now leave. If you have no more business here, than begone. My friend Maximus and I have matters to discuss, and they do not need to include the likes of you."

On the outside, Alexander tried desperately to keep up his brave facade. However, he knew the stories about Kain, and his powers... Whether or not they included knowing all of his secrets, Alexander did not know.

Whatever Maximus saw within the dark eyes of Kain, Alexander did not know. He avoided eye contact.

Turning back to Maximus, Alexander plastered on what he hoped was a sincere smile.

"Ahhh, yes, where were we? Oh yes, what I brought to this party."

Alexander pulled out his two .50 desert eagles from within his trench coat.

"These are purely for long-distance fighting. However, I prefer to use this,"

Alexander fingered the intricute grooves and designs on his Upir sword. It had a Rivensteel blade, the strongest steel in all of the world.

"My master Driretlen had one too... very beautiful, no?"

Suddenly, out of the corner of his eye, a figure caught his eye...

"Hey my friend, look at him? Is that... Jack Bray?"

Kain gave no responce, but closed his eyes a few more seconds. He then burst into action, walking to where the contenders where. He held no weapon...no shield. No armour. Nothing. It was unnerving to the other guests.

As you said correct? The demon whispered

Correct. I want this to be my fight. Without you. I wish to see what I can do without you.

Now wholly without me.

You know what I mean.

Kain flexed his cloven talons, moved his arms.

"What are the rules? Are arcane abilties allowed? Do not worry, I am not using my full arsenal. That would be....rather devestating." Kain asked anyone, looking around for a answer. He would take off his suit soon. He did not brag, but said it as a fact, and it was. Had he brought the Brightblade into this, the contenstanance would be rather.....mismatched. Kain did not want that. He wanted the thrill of combat, to see if that would give him any find of pleasure.

Maximus's mind was still on Kain while Alexander displayed his weapons. His eyes reflected those that had seen a force not fit of this world. Maximus wasn't really paying attention. At least not until Alexander drew his sword, and mentioned Drirethlen's name.

"Wait a minute...I know Drirethlen, and I know of the Upir swords given to members of the Hyraphore (OOC: sorry if I mispelled it!)."

He waited until Alexander turned back toward him, a somewhat surprised look on his face. He continued,

"I met Drirethlen a long time ago, as I was training in the arts of a vampire, with my sire, Skadi. At the time, Drirethlen, a sick old vampire was very weak and on the verge of fainting. He had called for us to assist him, but Skadi turned him down. As expected, I had to follow suit, seeing as how she was my sire. Nearly one hundred years later, I met up with him again, this time alone. Drirethlen was still seeking out Kain, for he had wanted him to lead the guild when he himself would die. I agreed to assist him, but quickly I realized that he was becoming obsessed with the power Kain possessed. It was almost as if he wanted it for himself."

"Tell me, Alexander, how is old Drirethlen doing these days?" he asked while picking up one of the Desert Eagles, eyeing it, releasing the clip and viewing the type of ammo being used. Then his attention was drawn to the Upir, and picked it up, surprised at it's perfect balance and it's unique mold to the hand. A fine piece indeed. But a fine piece required it's owner to be of, at the least, decent fighting skills. It would be interesting to see how Glamdring danced with the Upir when the time came for the two to face off.

OOC: I'm back! Alas, I missed a lot I would have commented on... Oh well, the fight hasn't started yet.
A rough description of graazz the immortal:
8 feet tall. Very muscular (and a lot stronger than he looks). Gray-brown skin, black hair. He has blunt claws, but basically human features. His eyes constantly change color, basically at random. He looks like he has not been washed in years, which is the case, but the only scent about him is that of the dirt. he is curently dressed in a white shirt, black pants, shoes, and jacket, and a bright purple tie. He is extremely (though not infinitely) strong, immune to damage, and has strange effects on chance. He also has other strange and fairly random powers, most of which he does not consciously control. Oh, yes... and Mad Troll is reffering to craziness, not anger. Feel free to ask any questions you have about him; I can't think of anything I want to keep secret.
IC: Seeing the other guests preparing for battle, graazz set aside his food and stood up. He didn't play cards (the other players tended to complain about getting cards like the High Lord of Leaves and the -3 of Diamonds, or finding several identical cards in the same hand, and other such extreme alterations in probability), but he enjoyed battles. He stomped forward with a ground-shaking tread, his jagged teeth showing in a broad grin, idly twirling a large battle axe in one hand. "We goying tu fite, eh? Graazz liek tto phight!"

"He knew Driretlen?" thought Alexander, "Driretlen never said anything. I wonder what stories he could tell..."

"Well, Driretlen is doing... better. The numbers in the Hyraphore have increased two-fold, and we are seeing a growing unity among members. With him, the guild is all that matters, so if it is doing well, he is well. The cancer is in remission at the moment, so again, all is good."

"You should come and visit him. I am sure he will love to see an old ally again. I thank you though for assisting him during his worst hour. You are right about one thing. He did want Kain's powers... but I believe he has learned his lesson."

Alexander rubbed a sore spot on his cheek. Kain was lost in the crowd now, but he was sure Kain could see him just fine.

Yes, Driretlen had learned his lesson...

"Oh, and that man is Bray. Jack Bray. He is a mercenary soldiar, one of the best. During his long career, he has worked alongside many a vampire form the Hyraphore, and in turn, against. I wonder if he is here on assignment?"

Alexander turned back to Maximus.

"Your sire, Skadi. Tell me how is she?"

Well, Kain thought. Time to get ready. I have not fought like this in a long while. I will simply react to what they have. If they have magic, I will react with like. If they use weapons, I will use my weapons.

Kain took off his pearling white suit. It slipped off him at his command, he did not have to go through the rigerous effort of taking it off. It was like water, it flowed from him. The suit melted away, and became nothing.

Kain now had his regular clothing on, his normal dark padded leather trousers, with the metal plates to protect his knees, and his gauntlets around his arms, which where protectors against....well. Other weapons. Other than that, Kain was bare for all to see. His rippling muscles. His green leathery chest. Kain moved his arms around, flexing his talons.

"When does this begin? What are the rules?" Kain said, eager for combat, yet knowing patience for each opponant was different. Kain knew that if someone cast a spell, his natural abilities would come into effect. His skin had unusal properties...ones granted during his change when he gripped the Brightblade still.

(OOC I do not want to fill up this space witha pic, so here is just the link to see what Kain looks like now. HE DOES NOT HAVE THAT SCAR. http://images.legacyofkain.net/sr2/captures/intro/kain_21.jpg )

Maximus listened as Alexander told of the good things happening within the Hyraphore and of Drirethlen.

"It is good to hear that Drirethlen has managed to supress the cancer. I know he suffered greatly from it for years. It looks like he got what he wanted, the guild to become unified and larger in numbers. That is good."

Maximus glanced over at the mercenary yet again. A double agent. He would have to keep his eye on this one. See how he battled with words and weapons.

"Skadi is doing fine, she still remains in Emerald City, the capital of Assington, her home and hunting grounds. Every once in a while, I go back there, mainly to pay my respects to my sire, and to see how she is doing."

Maximus began to put his weapons onto his body in assorted areas. He could fortell that the fighting competition was about to begin. He methodically attached the dragonscale armor onto his body, adjusted it slightly, and then put Glamdring onto his back. The Elven daggers were also fitted onto his back in a similar fashion.

(OOC I propose a agreement between each contestant. I.e if someoen wants to use magic against another magic user, fine, but some people may not want to. Some may just want to use sword etc. The way I think this should be judged, is that it is mutually agreed who wins, and no I do not agree that it should be to "the death" as such, but out of who is the better (i.e yeild!))

Kain looked around and simply said.

"Who wishes to challenge me? I can fight upon your terms, swords, martial arts, magic. Choose your weapons against me, I can fight upon your strongest ground. I will not fight with all of my arsenal, for that would be pointless, as my powers call upon other allies to my disposal. I stand alone, as a vampire, ready to duel." Kain said, looking around, his white hair shimmering silver, his brown eyes looking at each person in turn.

Suppressed I am. This includes what magic only my kind knows.

Good. It would not do for me to summon hoarde of Nightmares now would it? Or use the Dire Commands yes? No...I will use what I have learnt during my mortal years, and vampiric ones.

All 24 years of it?

Yes. But, my mind has experianced far more than 24 years of any normal person's life.

Quite correct. Not many can say that they have done what you have done at your tender age, even as a mortal you were significant. One of the reasons why I chose you.

"Maximus then. Would you do me the honor of dueling me?" Kain asked, his own claws by his side, unarmed.....so it would seem.

Kain was not as dominating as he was when others had seen him. He seemed lesser, but his repuation was not. His confidance perhaps....his eyes still held that penatrating glare, of his pain, of what he knew. Of what knowledge was.

"Choose what weapon you will have of me, should you accept." Kain said, his tone of elaborates in his voice again, that rich and intellegent voice which was getting ready for combat, the thrill of it again. It had been a while....

Maximus stood up when he heard Kain's voice behind him. Somehow, he seemed.....different.....he wasn't as menacing up close.

"Your challenge is accepted. I prefer the sword, a noble fighting weapon. I am very skilled at this. It would be my personal honor to test the strength and skills of the likes of you. You will have to find another sword, as I have only brought one."

Maximus led Kain to the next room. He noticed the eyes of several onlookers surprised to see the two about to spar. A few whispers went through the crowd quickly.

"Is he crazy? Does he know of the myths surrounding Kain??"

Maximus ignored them, and continued on. Once Kain had his choice of which sword he would use from the wall mounts, he turned back toward Maximus.

Maximus spoke:

"This is a fight for best out of seven. To win a point, you must out-battle me to a point in which I cannot return a counter-attack. This is not a mortally killing battle, but merely one for entertainment. Let us begin."

And with that, he brandished Glamdring, the brilliant metal reflecting the light of the room, the blue handle firmly in his grasp. The blade held vertically in a fashion of respect and honor, then swiftly put into battle-mode.

OOC: Thank you Kain. I do agree. Obviously, we all have a different sort of technique we would like to do. Our characters should agree of the method of choice before hand. I think my character will do one fight or so and then observe for the others on seeing who wins. I haven't decided on that one. We could use the code of honor and just decide who wins that way. Or in OOC comments we can decide. I think we should start out one on one if we want to make things more complex later we can have more people against others.

Kain closed his eyes. He held out his cloved talons....a shadow appeared, the shape of a sword. It was a curved one, one whichw as becoming more matieral every second, the silver blade with that skull hilt forming.

The weapon was the Brightblade...yet it was not. It was simply the physical manifisation of it, a husk of the actual weapon. Kain had grown accustomed to the weapon, it's light weight. The Brightblade could form into different types of weapon, but Kain prefered this, he held it within both of his talons and looked on.

The gleaming metal of the sword was perfectly made, very strange design indeed. It was curved like a wave. The skull hilt had no vision of life within those eyes.

Kain kept his eyes closed and felt the sword again, the unusal coldness of the sword. It would normally be a symboitic weapon, his every whim met by a thought. But now, as Kain had wished, he would be alone in this combat.

He brought the Brightblade twirling around his form, interchanging his hands with the weapon, the gleaming silver, a odd matieral for a sword to be made of, rushing and sparkling through the air, giving a high pitched whine as it traced through.

Kain commanded the demon, to release some of it's sustinance from him. He knew what he was doing. He felt only a trickle of the sustinance, so that he felt that indominate hunger, yet was not deabilitated into starvation. Kain's face changed.

He bore his fangs, his face contorted into a death mask, one of violance. His flesh turned a darker green, and his long white hair had flickers of bright crimson within it. Kain felt the bloodlust again, felt the hunger for combat once more.

He charged forward, his face snarling, yet his wits about him. He had learnt not to totally lose his mind to the beast within him, the silver curved blade within his hand flowing around him, as he spiraled it around.

He turned in a full motion, in a running uppercut which was impossibly fast, the full momentum of the silver blade, and the cold chilling whine of the silver steel came towards Maximus. But those eyes of Kain, once filled with depression and death, was filled with blood rage, crimson waters filling them. Kain felt the possession, not of a demon, but of his own inner demon of war.

And it was glorious!

You should have asked me, and Kain is not so easily blocked etc. He deliberately reduced how much sustiance he was getting from the Brightblade so he would became enraged but as I said, "He charged forward, his face snarling, yet his wits about him. He had learnt not to totally lose his mind to the beast within him".

I am sorry but I am not going to allow this. Kain although enraged, is still able to have self control. If he had full on rage, he would be throwing spells at you. And by the way, how old is your vampire? Kain might be 24 in his collected years, but his mind certainly is not. You cannot just say to me that you moved incredibly fast to Kain, when he would find that at his speed. And Kain would not become enraged by such a mokcng style. He has fought demons (with the help of Brightblade) and other darker creatures who have employed far worse techniques (.ie hostage situations, taunting etc). However, Kain was also an expert. He studied Kain's random attacks, observing his favored attacks, and locating a few weaknesses in his styles, weaknesses that would allow Maximus a good opportunity to attack and effectively inform Kain of them.

Maximus took the offensive. Glamdring sliced the air, hurtling towards Kain. He moved as quickly as he could, slashing at Kain, hoping to break though Kain's defenses at some point.

Kain was filled with the thrill of combat, that rush of adrenaline, his instincts of combat taking over. He loved every second of it.

Kain span around, using the Brightblade to parry in unique ways, ones which required a fast and keen mind to do so. Kain was walking nearer towards the wall, seemingly getting pressed for room. Maximus saw this as an advantage, if Kain had no-where to move to, he would be pinned.

He was enjoying this far too much.

One such offensive attack, Maximus brought his sword in a sideways motion, bringing his sword and entire body swiping across Kain. Kain reacted in a extremely startling and unique way.

Near the wall, Kain jumped back and used one foot to dig into the wall with his three cloven talons! Kain smiled as he gripped onto the wall with both feet, performing a kick-flip (I think that is the correct word)

The action was taken with great speed, Kain's sword held behind his back. He leapt from the wall in a full circle, so that he was jump over Maximus and go behind him, yes Kain would be facing the opposite way. Yet was was prepared, this was a practiced move, one which Maximus could not have expected.

Maximus, getting over the suddeness of the attack, the entire proceedor taking only a second for Kain's vampiric body, started to turn to face Kain.

Yet Kain did not allow him. He kicked the floor as he landed behind Maximus, using his body to hit into Maximus' back, pinning him against the wall, with his sword behind his back, he brought it to Maximus' neck.

"One point." Kain simply stated as he was pinning Maximus to the wall.

Kain released him and got back into thier starting position.

Maximus was astounded. Kain was definitely good, and he possessed the ability to think quickly on his feet.

Snarling at Kain, enraged that he had allowed such a move to be completed. He followed Kain to the center of the room.

"Very well done there, Kain. But can you continue this luck?" he taunted Kain.

Maximus did something Kain hadn't expected. He charged straight at him, but then as he charged at him, he dropped to the floor completely, allowing his body's momentum to continue propelling him past Kain, in between his legs, and quickly pushed up off the floor, completing a turn in mid air, and slashing downward. Glamdring sliced at the edges of Kain's clothes, slicing them open. However, Maximus had rolled just a little too far, and had failed to wound Kain.

Kain had already turned quickly around as he blocked Maximus's next shot. Sparks flew from the two blades angrily biting into each other. Maximus swung yet again, this time in an upward motion, surprising Kain and knocking his sword away.

What came next was unexpected. Kain swung a hard left, and gripped Maximus's throat with two of his talons. However, Maximus had his own sword pressing into Kain's throat, the tip angled under his jaw.

"One for me too." Maximus grinned towards Kain, quite aware of the hand at his throat.

Kain's blade left his cloven hands, the hollow shell of the demonic weapon spinning wildly, impaling the wall, the silver blade quivering as it hit. Kain's face became contorted in rage, and in reaction, his other hand, was brought down in utter rage. Maximus did not know what was going to happen. Kain looked like he was about to kill him, with that possessed face.

His two talons where between Maximus' neck, as Maximus' sword was against his own green neck. Something rather strange happened. Kain's skin where the point was, glew blue in reaction to the sword.

"Indeed." Kain said, and sprang off Maximus to retrieve his own sword, still quivering slightly in the wall.

Kain circled, spinning the sword, a high pitched hum reminating from it, waiting for Maximus.

Maximus was surprised. When he had pinned the sword to Kain's skin, Kain's skin had changed from the dark green color to that of blue. Glamdring had also seemed to have a slight surge of its own energy.

Was it the magic within the sword he had heard about only through myths? The same magic that countered the magic of the ancient Orcs of long ago?

Never had he experienced the vibrations he had felt as he held the sword to Kain's neck. It had pulsed...almost as it were alive...

Did Kain have some unspoken magic inside him?

Pushing this out of his mind, he turned back toward Kain, eyes narrowing, fangs exposed.

"One and one. Let us continue."

Maximus moved quickly near Kain, swinging the sword in the from side to side, as he switched hands with Glamdring. Glamdring's blade sliced the air, its own higher pitched whine countering the deeper humming of Kain's sword.

"Rahh!!!" Maximus yelled, his eyes turning a red color, as he jumped toward Kain, high in the air, sword poised above him, ready to come downward.
23-01-2004, 22:47
Kain stared up at this vampire who was bearing down upon him. He continued to look up at him, judging the moment. His body wanted to roar out and counter attack, but discipline told him otherwise.

His sowrd was by his side, seemingly unprepared for the attack. He readied himself. Everything to be in slow motion, seeing his opponents face, hearing him breath. Hearing his own breath. Hearing the whining of the sword as it sliced the air.

The blade was about to make contact with Kain, as Kain was remained stationary...then.....he was gone.

Kain rolled to the side, bringing the Brightblade to Maximus' stomach as he fell down. There was nothing that he could have done, gravity had control of him. He was land with great force onto his silver sword. There would be no escape from it.

Maximus lay on the ground on his back, the blood soiling his ripped clothes. His head swam as he struggled to maintain consciousness. Glamdring had fallen out of his hand, and had clattered to the ground next to him.

Blood began to seep around Maximus in an ever widening puddle. He slowly lifted his eyes toward Kain who stood there, a smile on his face.

"Kain.......one more point for you dammit...(changing his attitude to one of pleading)...help me Kain.....I cannot heal enough in time on my own to complete this challenge...."

See? You are an engine of death Kain.

Silence.

You cause pain and death wherever you go!

SILENCE! I WILL NOT HAVE YOU SPEAK TO ME IN SUCH A WAY DEMON!

The demon remained silent, discovering that he had gone over the line.

Kain reached down to the bleeding vampire, his eyes inspecting the wound.

"Ipres emprechis" Kain commanded, and his weapon faded.

Kain lay his two cloven hands upon the deep wound. He smelt that tantalising blood. It drove him mad.

"Stay still." Kain simply said and closed his eyes. He began to whisper something, something melodic, like a song, the words the spidary script of magic.

"Hait uith corpus, tu it as tasark sinulati sinulatin." Kain mumbled.

His hands became blue, and so did the wound in turn. The flesh began to close up, it felt warm and tingling. The blood remained around him, and Kain forced himself not to look at it.

"You put up a good fight, it was good to fight with the young again, it brings sensations which have remained dead too long to my weary mind and body. I could grant you some of my blood to replenish your strength...but I do not think you would want that. You would enjoy it....but....that is what I do not want." Kain smiled grimly and stood up, his cloven hands still bloody.

He walked away, back to gather his thoughts, and still excited body.

Well, it says flash is trash, but I don't think you've beaten your opponent until you've embarrased the hell outta him as well. It's a style difference, that damn MCMAK and Hanganah against my Jeet Kune Do and Sambo...'

Jack pondered for a moment, twirling the ballpoint pen between his fingers in absent idleness.

The world finally seemed to stop spinning erratically as Maximus slowly stood up, a look of defeat in his eyes. It had been a long time since Maximus had lost a fight, but he was glad that he had gone against Kain. At the least, Kain had taught him to keep his own ego in check. Maximus heard Kain's gratitude for providing a good fight, and was slightly cheered up for this. Kain had been rumored to be a cold being, but it was obvious to Maximus that Kain now respected him, mainly for his skill with the sword. He had simply capitalized upon Maximus's error, the foolish error to allow rage to blind his rationality and common sense, the error of jumping upwards and toward Kain. Any smart swordsman would have reacted exactly as Kain had. Even Maximus.

Rage was a powerful tool, but a fiesty pet. It could turn on its owner at any time. It must be kept on a short leash, otherwise, mistakes would be made. This had almost cost Maximus his life.

He watched as Kain walked away, grateful for the healing he had performed on Maximus. It had been needed, and was enough to keep him alive. But Maximus was weak, he needed to feed and rest, replenish his blood and energy.

He picked up Glamdring out of the pool of blood at his feet, it's blade and hilt covered in his own blood. He picked up his jacket which had been hung on a hook nearby where he had fallen, but had fallen upon Kain's sword impact with the wall.

A voice angrily yelled out.

"Let me through... dammit. Maximus!"

Maximus turned to see Alexander approaching him. That's when he remembered the guns Alexander had asked him to hold. He pulled them out and tossed them to him.

Just as Maximus had turned to leave the bloodied battleroom, he heard Alexander challenge Kain.

No. Don't do this, Alexander....Kain is not one to be fooled with....
Maximus thought, a look of depressed defeat spread onto his face. But Alexander seemed too intent on challenging Kain. Alas, he must learn as well...such a pity, even when he's seen me, one of the world's best swordfighters defeated."

Maximus continued walking, the crowd parting as he slowly limped toward one of the tables nearby. A few applauded him, some slapped his back, which sent new waves of pain through his body. He grimaced as this happened. These people had just seen him defeated rather painfully, did they not have any consideration of his wounds?

"Bloody good fight lad! Best I've seen in years!" commented one of the spectators. Maximus simply nodded his appreciation, and slumped into one of the chairs.

Maximus fingered the section on his dragonscale armor where Kain had managed an impossible feat. He had pierced the armor with incredible strength. Never in the history of Maximus's life, had he heard of anyone capable of doing so. Dragonscale armor was simply one of the strongest protections one could have, and pretty much guaranteed deflecting shots to the body by sword or bullet. Fate had granted Kain a rare exception to this. Maximus sighed, somewhat painfully. He would have to repair the dragonscale armor before his next fight.

Holding up Glamdring, it's natural silver metal color replaced with dark red blood. He pulled out one of the cleaning rags he had brought with him, and began to slowly clean the sword of the blood.

The waiter came with a goblet filled with blood and handed it to Maximus. He drank this deeply, savoring the smooth flow of the fresh blood down his throat, already feeling some of his energy return. However, it wasn't enough, he would need to rest as well. There would not be anymore fighting for Maximus tonight. To do so would put the contestant at an advantage, and Maximus knew he wanted to play on an even balance. He would be ready tomorrow, thanks to Kain's magical healing which had sped up the healing faster than normal.

Maximus finished cleaning the sword, and returned it to it's exquisitely made scabbard, and turned his attention to Alexander and Kain.

Another?

Yes. Such challenges suit me, it allows me to train. Of course, I would hope to use my arcane arsonal this time.

Kain turned at the sound of ALexadner's voice, a rush of the white hair sweeping behind him. He turned his attention to Alexander, Kain still had fire within his blood, still was hungry for those emotions again.

"You want a duel? Very well. What method? Sword fighting is my weakest of methods of combat. I prefer magic, but if you cannot fight me upon this level, I will fight using whatever you are best with." Kain said, streaching out again, blood drying upon his cloven talons. He really did prefer using spells, he felt no other joy when using it.

Kain skipped around slightly, getting ready for the next contest. He was not tierd, he was just getting started.

Just like the good old days huh?

Trust me, I enjoyed slaying those demons with you, those traitors.

Kain had no cuts upon him, any wound that hurt him had healed quickly and without trace. He looked towards Alexander, challenging him with those eyes, narrowing as if to say "Do you think you can defeat me?"

Ayane took a deep breath to steady herself, then swung her blade for the first hit. Graazz parried it effortlessly. She swung again, varying angles, watching and assessing his moves. He parried everytime. It didn't matter. For now, she was testing him... and attacking continuously to keep him on the defensive.

She skipped here and there, more nimble than she would have given herself credit for, striking his blade again and again. He reacted well, but she was beginning to notice she was the faster of the two. If she could just use that to her advantage...

Then Graazz counter-attacked. She hadn't excpected it, and it was all she could do to parry on time. She deflected another blow, tried to regain the offensive in a stabbing thrust, but Graazz pushed aside her blade and swung down. His blade nicked her right shoulder, drawing blood. It was only a small cut, but it was enough for her to gasp in surprise and lower her guard; Graazz, shifting his weapon to one hand, pushed her roughly with his other; she stumbled and fell. The tip of his blade was against her neck in a flash.

She gulped.

"I yield."

Graazz removed his blade, and she got to her feet. Her top was stained with blood, but she barely paid it any attention. She was annoyed at having conceded the first point - although she had known there was little chance of her scoring any - and in her eyes there was renewed determination.

She attacked once more, her moves swifter and more fluid now, though still far from those of an expert. She knew she was probably both the physically weakest and least combat-proficient person in the room, but that wasn't going to give her pause.

She threaded the air with her blade, trying to jab and swing faster than Graazz could keep up. It wasn't easy. Also, he was much stronger than she was, sending tremors through her body every time their blades clashed.

She wasn't getting past his defences. But at least she was preventing him from counter-attacking.

I need to remove those defences...

She varied her angles of attack even more, causing him to swing his blade so fast and wide he was losing a good grip on it... losing balance. Then, suddenly, she slammed up at the blade itself, and twisted. Graazz's sword flew out of his hands.

For a moment, she was so surprised she wasn't sure how to react. Then, quickly, she pointed her sword at his neck.

"Do... do you yield?" she asked breathlessly.

His force was so hard, she flew back and slammed into the wall. She slide down. She laughed. "I do like it rough!" She jumped up as fast as she fell and with the sped unnatural she stopped just infront of Morty. She danced around him and then stopped with her back to his. "Do you like it when you are blind?" She used the opposing wall and ran up to and and bounced off it. She landed infront and him and her sword was at his neck, piercing his skin, but did not draw any blood. She cocked her head at him and grinned, "How do you propose you get out of this one?"

Mordecai was lazily sifing through the heaping piles of paperwork on his desk when he came upon a very important looking letter.

"What in the Abyss is this?" he thought to himself. He opened the letter and read what it said...

He leaned back heavily in his overstuffed arm chair. As a vampire, he certainly thought he qualified. But then again, he'd found the letter so late. .. what to do, what to do? He decided that he needed a break from his position as Governor of Foundria's Blue Claw Province. He donned his best black velvet suit and fastened his long hooded cloak.

He mounted his jet black stallion and started his ride to the docks where he would depart for the palace.

"Ah, a poet." Said Morty. He settled on grasping the top of the sword hilt and pushing backwards to throw Sapphire off balance while jumpind to the side. It worked, exept for a glancing cut on Morty's shoulder. He winced as the pulled away from Sapphire.

"Damn, that hurts." Said Morty. He decided to make up for the cut with a blow of his own.

He attacked Sapphire again, with more speed than usual. Sapphire was able to parrry all his cuts once again with skill. He brought his sword down on hers and forced them both to the ground. He then charged and swung upwards with the bottem of the sword. The hilt struck Sapphire in the stomach and flung her upwards.

Sapphire flew up into the air. Being caught in the air and not being able to breath, how ironic. Her bare feet hit the ground and her knees buckled. She noticed the cut and laughed. "You shall lose control of that arm. I have a liquid on my sword that can paralyze an effected limb." She stood up and placed her fingertip on the tip of her sword and cut it. A few drops remained on the sword. "I am immune to it. I am the antidote to it." With each word drawn out she noticed his arm and fingers were becoming sluggish, soon he would lose control over it, it would be useless. She circled around him. Kain picked up the gun, his cloven talons ill suited for the weapon. Kain had never fired one in his existance.

Maximus watched Alexander and Kain pace off, one gun for each contestant. Kain appeared to have a little trouble handling the gun at first, but seemed to get the hang of it quickly.

Cold words floated through the air, directed at Alexander, heard by all in the room. The words seemed to have a chilling effect on Maximus, as he closed his eyes, hoping Alexander would not suffer the pain he had felt.

"I am ready."

Back to back, Kain and Alexander began to pace off. Time seemed to slow. Maximus caught the glint of fire in Kain's eyes. He looked over at Alexander, a look of determination in his face. Maximus had to hand it to him, he had guts to face Kain, even after seeing Kain viciously injure Maximus.

Maximus rubbed his arm as it began to grow numb from exaustion. His fingers ran over the edges of the dragon head tattoo on his arm. He glanced down, studied the intricate details a few seconds, and wondered how his dragon, Pyros, was doing at that moment. Entertaining that thought, he turned his attention back toward the duel.

The two stepped closer to the point of turn and draw...

Jack placed the pen in his pocket, instead opting for his switchblade. The knife was six inches long, when open it doubled to a full twelve inches. It had an expensive look about it, with a black handle inlaid with diamonds that took the shape of his initials.

"Aight, who's next?"
25-01-2004, 22:34
Kain felt the cold steel of the gun in his talons...a very strange weapon Kain thought. Yet he had felt the sting of bullets beofre, and knew thier worth. Yet it was a cowards weapon. When one used a blade, you can feel every bite of the opponant's flesh, every break of bone, every sensation of death. Not that it was pleasurable...but...when one granted death to another, or pain, it should have the effects upon you as well. The recoil of a gun simply was pale in comparison.

Walking silently away, Kain closed his eyes, and breathed in, smelling the air and calming himself. Making himself more aware. He listened...he heard all of the sounds which the mind usually blocks out.

The wind....footsteps...talking....coughs.

One, two, three, four, five

Kain was aware of his surrondings. He had done has he had been taught by his...teacher Xzar long ago when he was mortal. He could sense things more acutely...every step he knew the floor, sensed it, knew what it was. Kain heard his opponants breath, calm and steady...or was it just a mask? It did not matter. He heard every step....

six, seven, eight, nine

God this was the stupidest duel he had ever done. Stand and shoot at each other? Was that this was supposed to be challenging? A test of one's endurance? Who can take the more pain? Who can take the pain and deal more pain rather. Well, this is absurd.

Kain turned and kept his pistol at his side. He awaited the bullets, seeing everything at infinate slowness to him...each breath taking full minutes to complete.

Graazz took raised his hands. "I yeeld. Yuu verri fazt."
He took several steps back. Instead of retrieving the sword, he produced a large axe. It looked like a weapon designed for two-handed use, though he wielded it with one hand. He swung it in a great, sweeping arc... which Ayane easily dodged. She thrust, a lightning-swift jab that graazz barely managed to block. He knocked her blade aside, but she was slashing before he could try to strike back. Realizing that she had a chance to score had increased Ayane's confidence, and her graceful weave of steel gave the troll no time to counter. In fact, she was gradually forcing him back. Then, suddenly, he blocked her blow with a sweep of his axe that caught her sword between blade and shaft, and jerked it from her hand.
Graazz's left hand (held in a fist) shot towards Ayane's throat with eye-blurring speed, stopping less than an inch away.
"I yield." she said, her eyes wide.
Graazz stepped back, letting her take up her weapon, then pounced. He swung the axe in an arc over his head as he flew threw the air. Ayane dove out of the way, knowing there was no way she could block that blow. The axe blade was buried deep in the ground; graazz bent over, tugging at the weapon. Instantly, Ayane threw herself at his shoulder. He toppled, overbalanced, his own weight pulling his hand from his axe handle. Before he could get to his feet, Ayane had her sword point at his throat. Now his eyes widened. "I one ekspekted thaat. Graazz yeald."

Thanks, Maximus :D. Simple idea, really. As you also asked, Kain, yes, we're allowed to dodge, but not only in one defined area: all around the room. In essence, to see who is "really immortal," we're allowed to run and dodge, within reason, in and around the fellow contestants, over and under tables, etc. If this idea sounds dumb to anyone, sorry, but I always wanted to see duels like this

This will hopefully allow for more interaction, and a bit more skill than just a standard shoot till one dies.

OOC2: Oh, and these are silver bullets  Kain, you can use magic if you wish, but within reason again. Alexander's powers only extend to slowing down and speeding up time within his immediate area (a la bullet time) and increasing his accuracy with small arms to near perfect.

Alexander turned around and pointed his desert eagle at Kain. He wasted exactly 2 seconds speaking one last word of advice to him

"Demon, know that the weapons we wield carry silver payloads. Do not forget that when I stand over you in triumph."

With that, Alexander fired off two quick rounds at Kain. He did not waste any time seeing if they hit their mark, but rather turned to his right and leapt into the crowd.

Spying his friend Maximus, Alexander hurried over to him, turning around to watch for Kain.

"Maximus, tell me that I have a chance... I think that I may have gone in far over my head..."

Kain looked to see where his opponant was. Well, this certainly would be more interesting. He wondered if he should use his vampiric abilities....

Later. Not now. You wanted some fun with this person correct?

Correct.

Kain walked very slowly, maintaining his tapping of feet. He was upon all three talons of his feet,, and he was continuous moving around upon them, ready to spring from side to side. Kain's pistol still had not been raised.

"Come on. You can do better with that." Kain said to Alexander as he dove away.

"Try again." Kain said, enjoying this. He would return fire soon, but when he did, it would be the finishing ones.

Ayane removed her blade from against Graazz’s neck. She felt exhilarated… and tired. She had never expected to score two points. Her heart was beating fast. Victory now seemed tantalisingly close…

She avoided the trap of overconfidence, however. Luck had been on her side, and Graazz was still the superior fighter. She was faster, true, but she had also been keeping on the move far more than he had, and that was beginning to take its toll, slowing her down, dulling her reflexes slightly.

She looked into his eyes. She was breathing fast, and sweating a little.
“Final round. Are you ready?”

Graazz nodded, and yet again she attacked first, forcing him to focus entirely on where her blows were coming from as she nimbly darted here and there. The fighting was more intense now, perhaps because they were battling for the last point, the one that would determine the winner… and the loser. Her blade nicked his forearm as he parried just a little too slowly; moments later, she narrowly avoided being hewn in half, as she skipped out of the way and his axe grazed her left side deeply, drawing blood which spread over her dress, causing it to cling uncomfortably to her skin.

She paused to catch her breath and, in so doing, gave Graazz the moment of respite he needed to start counter-attacking in earnest, forcing her onto the defensive…

Kain smiled. He knew that his opponant would make his mistakes easily. Arrogance. Kain was enjoying this. But he would make it more interesting. Kain walked calmly, the bullets pinging around him. Kain did not even have to dodge that time.

"Oh? You want to be defeated so quickly by an enemy which you have no comprehension to what they are? I am not demon, at least by your standards. I will give you till the count of ten."

Kain began to count. He stood still, waiting. He knew what he would do, knew how to finish this.

Always playing up for the audiance hmmm?

It teaches them respect, so that I may be left alone more.

You are enjoying every moment of this aren't you?

Of course.

Kain awaited, his white hair drifting lazily down by his shoulders. his face smiling and completely taking this whole affair by his own time now. His voice carried around the room, counting down. And after every number, Kain whispered it into Alexander's mind.

"One."

"One"

Kain kept his confidant smile. He heard the firing of the gun, and lifted his own. He concentrated....he saw the glare of the bullet, in all of it's small glory as it ripped through the air like a angry wasp from it's nest.

Kain aimed, taking his time. The bullet was halfway towards him. He imagined it was one of his spells....the bullet was silver. He had used silver before in his spells, he could channel though it. (OOC Do not worry if you do not understand about channeling)

Kain saw what would happen.....he fired a single bullet.

It came out of his own pistol, not aiming for Alexander, but the bullet.

It hit with a high pitched ping, the two bullets crushed over each other, in a bitter embrace. Kain, put down his gun to his side again, the barrel smoking.

"Five, six, seven."

Alexander watched in rapt amazement as his bullet met an anti-climatic end at the hands of Kain's bullet.

Alexander saw Kain's smile and his own screwed into a bitter mask. With finality, Alexander walked back onto the playing field and pointed his gun at Kain.

"See if you can stop this, demon!"

Alexander fired off his entire clip. With his free left hand, Alexander waved his hand at Kain. He concentrated on each of the individual bullets and aimed them for various spots on Kain.

Alexander laughed. Surely Kain could not stop his magic-boosted accuracy.

"[b]Ten.]/B]"

Kain sprang out from his static position, running towards the bullets! He had a face of grim determination upon his face, as his white strands of hair flawed out behind him and his powerful legs powering him directed towards Alexander.

Alexander was wondering if Kain was mad to run into those bullets he had just fired. Yet....something most remarkable happened.

Kain ran into the bullets....as the areas which hit him turned into some kind of vapor!

Kain had not expected magic within the bullets. They entered the vapor and gave a hgih pitched crackle of blue flame. It was Kain's natural resistance to magic, given to him when he had been sired while he still grasped the Brightblade. Those who knew what it meant saw that it was harming Kain, but he powered on regardless, no pain upon his face. He had disciplined himself under the torture of the inquisitors.

Kain had simply used his mist ability in a smaller way, turning certain parts of him of vapor as he charged, his face getting more grim and filled with the lust for combat. He did not fire a shot still.

Kain sprinted accross, going at astronomical speed, homing in on Alexander. He saw that all of his bullets had run out. Kain sprang up into the air, somersaulting.

He began to fall, his back facing towards Alexander as he came rocketing down. Kain aimed his gun forward from himself....he was smiling all the way. At the speed he was going there was no way he could have dodged. Possibly reload and bear into him...

Immediately, he struck a powerful downwards blow. Ayane sidestepped, then was forced to dive out of the way when graazz turned his vertical chop into a horizontal slash in mid-movement. He moved after her, twirling his axe in a series of quick, light blows that she barely managed to turn aside. He then advanced, alternating quick slashes that kept her busy blocking with hard chops that forced her to dodge. He was gradually forcing her towards a wall when he slipped on a damp spot and tumbled backwards. Graazz rolled, throwing himself to his feet a few paces back.

Ayane had had little choice but to back up further and further as she deflected powerful blow after powerful blow. Graazz’s slip took her by surprise, and she almost didn’t react. Then, she was stabbing down, just a moment too late as he rolled out of the way.

Graazz slashed, and she stumbled as she lifted her sword in defence. Now it was she who was down. She parried the next few blows and managed to scramble to her feet. That had been close.

The wound in her side was throbbing, and the blood was seeping all the way down her left leg. And either Graazz was somehow getting stronger, which seemed impossible, or she was just no longer keeping up. Her sword was beginning to feel heavy, her moves almost clumsy. She silently cursed herself. She had to get out of defensive mode and somehow take the fight back to him.

She managed to sweep her sword towards his neck, but he blocked her attack and deflected her blade sideways, leaving her exposed. She hastily lifted her sword to protect herself from the next blow, but she had no time to steady her grip, and the impact of his axe flung her sword out of her grasp, leaving her defenceless. She darted towards it, but Graazz was already in her path, his blade to her neck. She went still. There was silence for a moment.

“I yield,” she said at last, and looked him in the eyes. “Well fought. You earned this victory.”

Alexander moved fast to reload his weapon. Kain descended faster.

Before he had even finished sliding the new clip in, Kain was upon him...

Kain fell right on top of Alexander....yet he never hit. Something remarkable happened, something which Alexander could not have expected. Well....possibly.

Kain fell down, and collided into Alexander. Yet Alexadner did nto feel a heavy boyd hitting him. He felt a fast gas whipping around his sides, a light vapor as Kain formed into mist. Then Kain, his entire most form behind Alexander, fomred into his physical manifsation, facing Alexander's back. He pointed his gun at the back of Alexander's knee, firing three rounds into each leg. This occoured with blinding speed, and Kain was smiling as he did so, a slight one, but a smile none the less.

It was out of sadism, Kain really found no pleasure in killing or harming, but he did enjoy this refreshing change. Kain's bullets ripped through Alexander's knees, which would cripple him totally. It would be pernament damage if he was not a vampire, and even then it would take many days to heal. But Kain had his magic prepared in his mind. It would be rather difficult...but he could do it.

(OOC If you got shot in the back of each knee, you would be in extreme pain, that would rip through the bone. Regeneration would take several days for a wound that harmful, as it would rip through the bone and you would not be able to walk at all. From what I think, you would immediately buckle and fall to you busted knees. You would be in extreme pain. God I love some of these ideas I get for ways of attacking. )

It is almost as if you are Rping my wounds. Just like a War thread, you aren't allowed to post someone else's losses in battle. Know what I mean? :?

I do know how to RP, as I know do you, Kain. With this in mind, you should know how I feel. I know what happens when bullets rip through the back of a knee. I do not need you to tell me how Alexander should feel, let alone heal himself. Just remember, he is a vampire...

So Kain likes magic, eh? Well, thats fine by me...

OOC2: I'm sorry, but I just take personal affront to this.

IC:

"AH S***"

Alexander knew that he was in trouble as soon as Kain disappeared. In fact he knew he was screwed.

He just didn't know that he would be screwed from behind.

Alexander did not even have time to turn around before Kain had sent bullets ripping through the back of his knees. Three bullets per knee, all sent with a message of pain and agony. Kain was still standing behind him, smiling faintly at him. This he knew for sure.

Alexander collapsed to the floor in a heap. His knees could not sustain him at all.

As he flailed with his left arm, Alexander bumped into something: his Upir sword. He grabbed it, and lurched to a semi-lying prostrate state.

"Still smiling demon? Let's see how it looks when it is frozen on your face?"

Suddenly the room got colder and darker. Crowds gathered to watch the battle looked around in puzzlement and awe. Even those in other battles stopped to see what the matter was.

"Wuz iz this?" cried Grazz.

Suddenly all of the noises stopped. The sounds of guns being cocked and metal hitting metal... stopped. The sounds of laboured breathing and small groans... stopped.

Kain was stopped. Rather, he was frozen. Courtesy of Alexander's finest spell: Stop Time. Though he was young, Alexander had been trained in many of Hyraphore's personal magiks. Now he had been able to utilise it.

Dragging himself with his Upir and his arms, Alexander made his way to a nearby table. He cried out in agony, but noone heard him. A small comfort, he supposed.

With the table in hand, Alexander dragged himself to where Kain stood, rooted to the ground. Alexander, with the last of his strength, heaved himself onto the table, leaning all of his weight on it's sturdy oak finish.

With surprisingly steady hands, the vampire raised and pressed his gun on Kain's forehead. He noticed that Kain still held a trace of a smile on his face.

"You won't be able to hear this, Kain... but then again, maybe you can. After all, you did turn into mist. I must admit I wasn't expecting that.

"But did you know that I had magik too? Tell me, with all of your strength and power, did you foresee this? You know, if you had any other magic abilities, perhaps it is time to use them."

Alexander looked around at all of the frozen combatants. He moistened his lips, and then looked back at Kain. He was glad that he had taken the time before he was shot to reload with a fresh clip.

"Demon... dodge this!"

At the same time as he released the flow of time, Alexander pulled the trigger.

OOC3: If you can get out of that realistically, fine. I can RP from then on

OOC: Oh, yes, and I forgot this....
IC: As graazz stepped back, an odd green glow briefly shimmered about Ayane. When it vanished, her injuries were gone as if they had never existed...

Graazz was watching the duel between Kain and Alexander with interest (it was not a variety of fighting he was used to, but any battle interested him) when Alexander said
"Still smiling, demon? Let's see how it looks when it is frozen on your face?"
As an eerie chill filled the room, graazz stared about in puzzlement.
"Wuz iz this?" he cried.
Suddenly, everything stopped. The room was silent, dim, frozen...
Graazz recognized this; he had seen temporal manipulation before. However, he was very impressed. He scratched his head in puzzlement with his left hand as he watched Alexander approach Kain.
Thet wun hav powur... lotz. Tyme cheng iss hard!

Time returned to the room as a gunshot shattered the air.

OOC: Strong magic that affects graazz tends to trigger his powers. Lesser time control would be as effective against anyone else, but anything as powerful as a full time freeze isn't likely to work on him....

“Thank you!” she said to Graazz gratefully, amazement in her eyes. “Now,” she added, looking round, “who’s next?”

That was one fight done. But there was no guarantee she would survive the next few hours, she knew.

Then, suddenly, she felt a wav of cold, and her limbs freeze solid. It seemed to last only an eye blink. When it stopped, leaving her a little disoriented, she heard a gunshot…

Maximus was impressed. He had watched Alexander summon quickly some powerful magic to literally freeze time in it's place. That much he recognized. In the time of wait, Maximus's body was in heaven, the wounds having frozen their healing effects, but no pain emanated from the wounds.

He would have to ask Alexander to teach him this spell. It would prove to be useful indeed.

Maximus heard a voice, Alexander's voice, crying loudly to the frozen demonic vampire, Kain.

"Demon, dodge this!"

Suddenly time unfroze, the pain rushing back to Maximus, as he heard the unmistakable bark of Alexander's gun.

(OOC I am sorry, I did not mean to say "The bullets ripped through" what I meant to say was flying to hit, it was about midnight when I wrote that and I was pretty tierd. Sorry about that. Nice reaction to it by the way. :D And Kain was only predicitng what would happen, not definately.)

Kain was totally astonished. He saw the muzzle of the gun, his confidant smile fading. He was ot ready for this. He was weak! The demon was not with him in full force, although he could feel the demon's alarm by it.

"Demon dodge this!"

Kain's face contorted into frustration and rage. He had faced far greater things and this. But this bastard had attacked him when he was at a weaker point! No! It will not end like this! I will not allow it!

But Kain was powerless to stop the bullet or dodge it. He tried desperately to form into mist, his form whipping into mist, yet the bullet had already been fired.

Kain was half-formed, helped by the demon to make this quick transistion. Kain felt that unbearable pain of silver inside of his head, it entered one of his eyes as he had begun to fall backwards to form into mist.

The bullet entered one of his eyes, and then passed through nothing..well mist to be more precise. Blood sprayed over Alexander as Kain's eye...was well simply put, rendered useless. Kain formed into mist before it entered his skull, the mist a vile mixture of agony and rage.

The bullet tore through his mist form, sending pain all over Kain's body, pain he had not felt in a long while. The mist rapidly sank, and faded through the floorboards, Kain wishing to retreat until he could recover the demon's full presance. He lied within the lower soil underneth the building, in total rage. It took a great deal of his power to do so, to summon this form in such conditions....one which would cost.

You should be more careful.

Well look at this way demon, you get to kill! We get to kill! I have not tasted blood in so long! Damn that bastard, I will never allow myself to be rendered like this again!

Kain was fuming and the demon readied itself.

Kain, in mist form was underground preparing himself. He was half-blind now....but it would more than enough to take down this bastard, let alone with the demon.

Kain's eye would not heal for a long time....and Kain did not want to waste energy he would need to perform what he was going to do. He began...

Inside the room....most people stared and watched at this huge defiance by Alexander.....there was tension in the room. No-one knew if Kain was dead! How would the guests react?

(OOC It would be really helpful if Alexadner left to go outside, but I am quite happy for you to stay in. Just means that the place will not be subjected to civi casulties. Do you mind if Alexander dies? Kain is REALLY not going to spare you any mercy, he is going to beat you down. He does have a demonic sword who is his ally you know. He can die of course, but Alexander I do not think can do it. But you can try. You did Kain a lot of damage, and Kain is going to be blinded by total inner rage. So..your call. Can I kill him? Of course, there will be a long fight before hand. And also, other guests, think of your reactions to this. Alexander has seemed to kill Kain, or at least do a ton of damage.....But this place is going to turn into a warzone.)

Things just made a turn for the worse. Maximus thought to himself, suddenly getting the urge to get up and retreat farther back from that room. Something bad was going to happen. He could sense it.

She cut into her lip again. Now, the blood flowed down her chin. She cupped it into her hand and went to his wounds. She saturated, or tried to. She saw his blood mix with her own. The vampire could only have advantages for mixing with hers. She waited by his side. "I guess we all think of immortal in different ways." She remained quiet after that. Oh, and Kain, yes, you can kill Alexander, but the way I'm going to RP this will not have a huge battle, at least, not on Alexander's part. More will become apparent when the opportunity comes. :D

Hell, go all out if you want. Just leave a body behind. thats all I request. And please wait for Tarlachia's respnse. I will need him to help Alexander do something.

IC:

Alexander lay still as the servents who carried him to the suite closed the door behind them. He was alone, save for a single midwife who looked at him with baleful eyes and cooed softly.

Alexander was covered in a single red-stitched quilt, courtesy of the Lady Sapphire. He could not see his knees for it, but he could still feel the throbbing pain emanating from below his thighs. Anywhere lower than where his knees used to be were numb, and useless.

"Lady, what is your name?"

"My name is Ruby. I am instructed to take care of you until the doctor returns."

Inside, Alexander laughed. He knew that Kain would be done with him long before any physician could heal him. This he did not say out loud.

Instead, he asked for a glass of water.

"Right away, sir." Ruby replied.

As Ruby slipped into an adjacent bathing room, Alexander reached down and felt for his Upir. How thoughtful, Alexander thought. Sapphire had the sword brought up with me. A true hostess.

A pity I will not be here for the end of the competition.

Alexander looked at his tattered suit and trench coat. It was covered with the Blood of Kain, though it looked... different. Alexander shook his head at what had transpired. He was so sure that he had Kain dead-to-rights, and yet, the demon had... managed to still live.Even after being shot through the eye!

"It's that damn mist again. Curses!"

Ruby's voice echoed from the bathing room.

"Pardon?"

"Oh. Nothing..."

Alexander went back to thinking about what had happened. One moment, Kain was there, the next Alexander was covered in his blood, and the next, Kain was gone. Dissappeared through the floor, to... who knew where.

Kain was close, that was all Alexander was able to tell, or rather feel. He could feel it in his body. Kain was near, in a world of pain, and driven into a frenzy by the thought of revenge against... him. Alexander was certain that all of the other guests who had esper abilities could sense Kain as well.

"Here's your water, sir."

Alexander took the glass and drank it in one swallow. He handed the empty glass back to her.

"Thank you, and please call me Alexander."

Alexander felt much stronger than when he did when he faced off against Kain. His knees, though still numb, no longer throbbed. He attributed it to the blood Sapphire rubbed on them.

But it was more of a stop-gap procedure. He was eternally grateful, but it wouldn't help in the end.

"I am afraid that I must ask you for a favour. If you could please go back to the ground floor and bring to me one named Maximus. I need to talk to him desperately."

"Understood Alexander. Please stay here and rest while I fetch him."

After Ruby had closed the door, Alexander dug through his coat and pulled out a cellphone. He checked it; it still worked. With blood0covered hands, Alexander dialed.

"Hello, Garrien? Yeah... it's me. No, no... I'm... fine. I'm just calling to be picked up... I think my time here is finished..."

As soon as Alexander closed the phone, Maximus walked in.

"Hello, my friend, I'm glad Ruby found you."

"Alexander... your legs..."

"I'll be fine. Don't worry."

"What about Kain? You didn't finish him off."

"It's too late for that... here, i just needed you to do me a favour."

With a shaky right hand, Alexander picked up the Upir sword and drew it across his left arm. A small pool of blood formed on the quilt. The sword itself was drenched in Alexander's blood.

"Here... take this and safeguard this until someone from the Hyraphore arrives. His name is Garrien. Give this to him, blood and all."

Maximus took it and safely stored it in his spare sheath. "So what happens now?"

"I need you to go down and wait, Maximus. Kain will come for me, I can feel it. See if you and other guests can... talk him out of doing something rash..."

Maximus nodded, and then took Alexander's right in his own.

"I am glad to have met you, Alexander of Hyraphore. I am sure Driretlen would have been proud."

"Thank you, but don't worry. You all haven't seen the last of Alexander yet."

Alexander flashed Maximus a weak grin, and then pulled out his desert Eagle with his right hand. It still had most of the clip left.

"Now go. He will come any moment.... oh, and please ensure that Ruby is unharmed by the coming events."

Maximus left the way he came, and shut the door behind him. Alexander was alone, lying in a small pool of his blood.

He smiled, and then weakly pointed the gun at the door.

OOC: Ok, wait for Tarlachia, Kain. And everyone else, when Kain comes back into the mansion, just for the hell of it, try and stop him. It'd be some interesting Rping, and Alexander would be ever grateful. That will be the huge battle.

OOC: I wish I could get my character here in time for that, but he's busy right now.... Sigh. :(

Within the main hall of the mansion, where Kain had fought Alexander, the tension increased. There was a definate presance within it, people could see now, that the room had darkened somewhat, a low black mist, as though there was a miniture storm about to erupt within the place. Indeed, those sensitive to magic could sense this brewing of power, like a champagne bottle being shaken up.

This dark whirlpool spiraled for a small while, everyone's voices getting quieter and quieter....the black fog which swept around in a large cricle to the walls, when one looked at it, you could almost see eyes....

Those damning eyes....those burning eyes, one of Kain's brown, full of memories and rage, and the other instead of the bloody pulp, in this mist form there was another eye.

A demon's eye. Lava red, glinting occasionally within the mist when one looked at it. People could not tell which eye was more terrible...

I will kill him. And no-one is going to get in my way. This will be an example. A horrible example. No-one does this to me! Not some weak vampire! Do the Gods mock me in this? Kain conversed with his demon, as he felt it's presance within him more and more tangibly.

A lesson to be more careful. Without my assistance, you are still a fledgling. Although a wise one with my knowledge, you are a fledgling. But now, I lend you my strength so you can survive. Survive to forfill your end of the vow.

We can speak of this later. Our power has almost completed. We have a battle plan now? ......Agreed. If they interfer, they get punishment but not death. Not even Alexander will get death, not if we can help it.

Qui would be proud.

NEVER mention his name again! Not in that context you bastard demon! You know how I feel!

Let us concentrate upon this. Your rage now is fully fledged, I only said that to compell you further. Imagine that Alexander is Qui....

The black mist rumbled...blue crackles appearing within it, undevolped lighting which lashed out at nothing. Kain indeed had never been this enraged...well...not in a position to do something about it. And now as the demon had enraged him more than before, making Alexander into a different enemy in Kain's mind, there would be no mercy.

Qui.

The one who had cursed him.

OOC:  Augh! I wish my character was here! Am I allowed to use the same person in more than one RP at once?

Maximus stood outside the doorway from which he had come.

Troubling thoughts plagued him mind. Alexander had given him the Upir, the one weapon of the Hyraphore that its members never gave up.........unless they died or were about to.

"No......he can't be...I've got to get everyone together, we've got to stop Kain from murdering Alexander! Don't worry Alexander, I will do my best to keep you alive..."

Beckoning the nurse, Ruby, to follow, he led the way back downstairs. He commanded her to find someplace safe to stay until the event was over.

Maximus jumped onto a nearby table, a look of determination in his eyes.

"LISTEN UP EVERYONE!" he yelled to the room full of contestants, waiting until all talking had stopped before continuing. "We've got ourselves a major problem. A murder is about to be committed, as we all know. This is only a competition to win the Lady's favor, but we do not need to resort to killing. Therefore, I implore all of you to join me to convince Kain to calm down!"

Maximus drew Glamdring once again, his eyes ablaze. He would be damned if he let Alexander die helplessly. Kain must be stopped...

As the crowd muttered amongst themselves, Maximus could sense the massive dark magic growing in the next room. Time was running short, Kain was about to strike.

"Who's with me??!!"

Morty swivled as maximus starded shouting about stopping Kain and saving Alexander. He sheathed his sword and turned around.

"Very well. Ive been looking forward to fighting Kain anyways." He hesitated. the, looked at Sapphire, who was healing Alexander. "Unless, of course, the lady wants to continue fighting with me."

Morty was the first to speak, voicing his support.

Maximus nodded his appreciation.

"That's one...anyone else?"

OOC: Ravea, you're a little behind the timeline script, Alexander's now upstairs, being taken care of.

Ayane watched as Morty spoke up in agreement then, after a brief moment's hesitation, she stepped forward, an equal look of determination on her youthful face.

"I can't stand by and do nothing while a murder is attempted," she said firmly. Though all I can do is get myself killed trying to stop it... "I'm with you too."

OOC:
It can be assumed that this post doesn't occur IC until everyone has had a chance to respond to Maximus, if people preffer.
IC: The door crashed open, and Kazar-Tiyon strode into the room. Slightly taller than average for a human, he was clad in gleaming black armor and a cloak that somehow managed to be even darker than that. His face was hidden in the shadows of his hood; only two glowing red eyes could be seen. A black-hilted sword with a ruby in the pommel was sheathed at his side. Anyone with magical or psychic senses would be certain to feel the darkness of his nature....
Kazar-Tiyon had sensed the magic and rage that filled the area from miles away, but he gave no sign of this. Instead, he calmly said "I hope I'm not to late; I recieved the invitation quite recently. I had been rather busy, and haven't been able to check my messages. I am Kazar-Tiyon." He bowed slightly, and waited for introductions from the others.
OOC: I'm going to write this as occurring after the other RP he's involved in, which has recently made some interesting developments.... For more information about him, take a look at it (The Return of Nez'gah).

The Irisher smiled. Almost chuckled, but caught himself.
"Sorry, sorry, I'm sure this is all very mellow and serious to you, Maximus, but I feel I must point out that you don't have much chance of stopping that cloud brewing in the next room over, unless you happen to have a silver fishnet or something similar. Perhaps a Soulhunter's Globe would hold it? And if you do manage to stop Kain from killing Alexander, please convey my thoughts that not one of you here has even begun to experience Pain."

Turning toward the one that spoke, Maximus simply looked at him, studying the man's features, noting the words spoken. He looked back at the crowd behind him, then turned back to the stranger and spoke:

"Alas, you know little. Although we are few, we are all fighters of honor. Only a coward would attack an injured opponent, no matter what that opponent has done to instigate anger. What Alexander had done was perfectly legal in the rules of combat. What I sense Kain is about to do is much more than that. Kain, I feel, will go blind with rage and kill until his anger is satisfied. And as such, he must be calmed down, for this is indeed a competition, NOT a war......"

Maximus took a moment to catch his air, before continuing,

"And as for stopping Kain, I do indeed have other means besides conventional weapons of fighting or defense. I am talking about the famed magic of my ancestors, the Elves of Lothlorien Forest, a breed of powerful magic that once lay dormant for thousands of years, until I unlocked its secrets hundreds of years ago. I had not used this magic during my own duel with Kain, because our duel was a traditional weapons-only fight. So, to conclude my dear critic, there is more than meets the eye."

And to prove his magic capabilities, Maximus chanted an Elvish healing spell:

"Tanka tel' taurnin!"

A spiral of green and white light emerged from the ground, encircled Maximus completely, levitating him a foot off the ground, flashed brightly, bright enough to blind viewers for a few seconds, then gently lowered him back onto the ground, the light sprialing back into the ground once more.

Maximus opened his eyes, now more intense, as he stared back at the stranger. He was now completely healed, having used the "Greater Heal" spell.

"I didn't use this earlier, because I did not wish to reveal my magic yet, but I figure this is the best way to convince you of my power. Besides, the pain was starting to irritate me."

Maximus chuckled as he continued talking,

"Now, instead of being the critic here, why don't you make yourself useful and join us?" He whispered in a low tone, so Sapphire didn't hear his next words, "Besides, doing so might impress the host, she just might take favor with you!"

OOC: To All: If you were paying attention when I arrived earlier, you would noticed that I had also included a little hint that Maximus was possibly hiding something for the combats, when he was showcasing his weapons to Alexander. Don't believe me? Go check it out on page 6, if I'm not mistaken. I had planned this from the beginning, knowing that there would be others who would use magic.

[[EDIT]]: Yep its on page 6, just checked.
