A few of the things wrong with these forums that vets like to make fun of. However, things could be worse...like they were back in the day when you could only access the forums at 2/3 in the morning, much less post.

So anyhow...since we're nearing christmas...I say we give the server and the forums the best present ever: A fitting tribute! :twisted:

Ah, yes the forums. So fun yet so damned annoying. I remember the days before the mods. I miss the 'Is Kits a Girl?' thread, and Kits and lotsa other people. Ahh the memories.

And Max Barry loaded Nation States onto a server and it was go--...

ERROR! ERROR! TOO MANY NATIONS! INSERT 4933 QUARTERS!

'Damned pay servers'

And Max Barry paid the Server Mages and it was go--

ERROR! ERROR! NEED FORUMS!

And Max Barry spent many hours and created the Nation States forums and it was go--

ERROR! NEED MODERATORS!

And then Max Barry came down and touched the chosen ones creating a race of super-nations, known as.. THE MODERATORS. And Max Barry looked upon his creations and it was go--

ERROR! SERVER OVERLOAD!!

And for more than 26 RL hours, Nation States descended into chaos and when Jennifer awoke from her dark sleep, her clocks were wrong. And once again Nation States descended into anarchy, and much was lost. But Max Barry looked upon his creations and it was go--

ERROR! INSERT MORE MONEY!

And Max Barry inserted more money and spake saying. 'Fuck this. You bastards are going to pay me to run your nations God Damnit!' And it was inevitable.

.../\...Who knows. Max lives in australia, the server has been set to GMT -4 because that is where the East coast is in summer time, and the other 95% of the world doesn't recognize daylight savings time ;)

i wish my own time zone was part of that 95% of the world. daylight 'savings' time is one of the goofiest things the hooman species has come up with.
and the east (u.s.) coast, however much it may protest and refuse to admit it, is just as goofy as we are out here on the left, just in even more arbitrary and absurd ways and for a mere century at most longer then ourselves.

i wonder if it would be reasonable to propose using coordinated universal time universaly and eleminate time zones entirely. i mean ok so the sun would rise and set at times people would take some getting used to thinking of it as rising and setting in some places, but would that really be such a big deal?

after living 54 years i still don't understand how and why people get emotionaly attatched to things like that

well...since the bloody servers have been rather bastard as of late...

I agree with this bump, and I ask: How long it is agreeable for someone to spend trying to get into the forums when they are f***** up?

Well guess what... I reached the conclusion that it's until you get to post what you wanted, I spent near to fourty-five minutes and three thousand insults trying to get in, until I made it! d_ :D _b

Depends on how addicted to NS you are, the more addicted the longer it is agreeable to spend trying to get in.

I say that after the server move, about 20 random nations are picked to go to the city where the servers are (they gotta pay flights and such), and pay a small amount of money, and they get to take whatever they want to the old servers. baseball bats, cheese, whatever.

I may not like double posts and server locks any more than anyone else, but given how many users we are, I'm rather surprised that it works at all, free of charge and everything.
