The Xanthalian Ministry of the Armada and Military stated today that the Military's budget would be hiked from less than .5% of the nation's budget to 1%. The funds will be diverted from the Armada, which has drastically slowed it's manufacturing of new ships and has closed all of it's out-of-system stations in the past few years and thus has some extra capital. "Adequate funds will still be available to the Armada to maintain, upgrade, and add to it's fleet," said Ministry representative Charlie Rose in his address to the nation this morning. "Now the Military will have the funds to modernize it's ground forces and rebuild itself after the betrayal twenty years ago."

Is there anything else aside from destabilization from the events 20 years ago that has caused this action? some aspect of the Military that was outdated perhaps?

Indeed, most of the Military's artillery and vehicles date back in design to the 21st. and 22nd. centuries. While the Armada has remained on the cutting edge, the Military has fallen behind. Not surprising since it is barely ever used, but it's gotten to a point of rediculousness. We hope that the Military can use this new funding to bring its equipment up to 34th. century standards. The Military needs the best it can get since it consists of only one million soldiers.
