Internal Secret Report on the Virus
Research has been finished on Belem's supervirus Shiva(which won in the voting by 1 vote). The Virus is now in the process of entering the production phase with over 1 thousand gallons set for production.
The Virus is primarily a genetically engineered mix between ebola and the Pneumatic strand of the black plague, though other viruses genetics are also sliced in for certain effects.
The virus will survive for about 8 weeks without a host(making it a mix between virus and bacteria to allow to reproduce would of been too costly and made it easier to detect.)
Shiva can latch onto most organic and inorganic objects in order to spread itself. It can be transmitted airbornly, through the skin if the pores are significantly dilated(least likely method of transmission) or through a cut, and sexually.
It effects all living materials, and can attach itself to pollen and seeds to be transported hundreds of mile away.
When it enters a persons body it is disguised as a non maglinent cell and begins spreading in a persons lungs, hearth, brain and sexual reproduction organs. Early signs of the disease would be just an increased rate of coughing(in order to transmit the disease to others), the airborne reproduced strain will have just as long a life as the original strain.
After 4-7 days the virus will turn malignent in the targets body and will start destroying itself and the cells infected this has a 75-95% chance to cause death. Death will primarily occur because of irrepairable damage to the lungs or the victim drowning in his own blood. Death can also occur from Massive internal bleeding in the heart, or from loss of brain cells.
If a person survives Shiva they will most likely suffer irrepairable brain damage and impotence.
Death can be expected in hours or days depending on the targets previous health condition and how long Shiva had to spread.
Shiva has an extremely high transport ability and is highyl contagious it is not unlikely for a small amount of Shiva stragetically placed to generate thousands of cases which will then generate millions and spread throughout the country and most likely neighboring countries.
The Virus will be extremely strong able to resist all but the most powerful decontam. It will of course be subsceptible to its own vaccine.
A Vaccine for Shiva and a Foam version(for being used on equipment) are being produced and will be deployed to agents in the field and troops in the country. Because of ease of transport for the virus all equipment used in the field will have to be foamed down before being allowed back in Belem.
If the Vaccine's secrecy be breached Office of Unconventional Warfare doctors have assured us that a slightly different strain could be produced within a month.
