OOC, concerning IC: Settings

This question might have been answered before but...here it goes. How exactly do you reconcile nations in a fantasy setting with space nations, with modern tech, and make it something REMOTELY rpable? Do dragons go against space cruisers and nukes versus wizards? Maybe someone should devote a handy dandy list of nations that are in one of the three categories, to prevent people from "godmoding" in each thread..whether with super-nukes in a fantasy thread, planetkillers in a modern thread, or magic missiles in a space thread. Just a thought, but it might solve a lot of problem people seem to be having when they accuse each other of say, Jedi in a modern setting.))

There is nothing wrong with interperiod RP.
A nuke is just as effective on mars. A wizard can easily turn a space marine into a peice of carbon. A soldier with an AK-47 can put 12 holes in a knight at a thirty yards, and an archer can put an arrow in his eye from the same distance.
Especialy fantasy vr. space, I mean, wizards are shown to be quite effective against people who dont think they exist.

Well, a good example is what I am doing at the moment...
A modern day nation I am an ally with launches a test bed fighter and one of my ships in orbit sees it. The drop down and see what's up. Of course I ask OOC permission before sending in the fighters, as it is mixing techlevels.
Tech level mixing is NOT godmodding. After all, the African tribes couldn't IGNORE the Europeans. It is timeline mixing that is.
If your nation is, say 28th century, you can't RP with a 20the century nation UNLESS you RP as it being your nations past.
As far as I know, it goes like this:
If someone from an above tech level starts something against you, you can choose ignore it. If you start something with someone from a tech level higher than you, you have to RP it.
Oh, and also, I find it MUCH easier to just have a Modern nation and a Future nation, around the same populations (Raysia and Capsule Corporation), but then, I created those when I first started, simultaneously ;)
THAT allows me to RP with more people without having to come up with explanations for my having F-15s, F-16s, Sidewinder Missiles, and... uhh... umm, a Star Destroyer.
I guess, in theory, you could have a schizo nation and just have tech reserved for future play and modern play, and just don't use them at the same time.

Every point you made, while good, involves war.
What about peaceful RPs? Hell, I have spacefleets and I interact with nations that think electricity is just a passing fad. We never have a problem.

Actually, using UN stats works quite well when mixing, say, fantasy vs. SF...
You can also use them to define things that arenĀ“t in the UN stats, for example (as i do it) IT for telepathy, book publishing for the size of media networks/ propaganda ability, etc...
