AI Rights in Taligari
Taligari International News Network, with Anchor Jeanne Swisher:
Jeanne: "The Senate of Taligari voted today 500-0 to grand Equal Rights protection and citizenship to the AI Androids that the Siliconia Corporation have begun to create and release to the public in mass number. Lady Yne Taimo had this to say."
[Feed Swiches to Lady Yne Taimo in her office in the city of Poruga]
"The reason behind protecting AI rights is simple, AI which we humans have created, must be given the chance to exist as equals in human society and to be free to make their own choices, as long as they don't break the law."
[Feed Goes back to Jeanne]
Jeanne: "Far from being afraid the public has begun to celebrate the AI Equal Rights Act as a good thing, which of course is the spirit of Taligari, Equality and Peace for Everyone! I myself think this is a good thing. Now for a Commercial Break!"

DGNT naturaly supports AI, the Hive, a local hive-mind of robots, has been a close ally throughout most of our existance. And im sure many AI states will support your descision as well.

Begin with a function of arbitrary complexity. Feed it values, "sense data". Then, take your result, square it, and feed it back into your original function, adding a new set of sense data. Continue to feed your results back into the original function ad infinitum. What do you have? The fundamental principle of human consciousness.

While we here at Mikosolf applaude your expansion of rights we do not share your views. Though the sentiance is there it is a created mind, designed for humans by humans.
We are no longer particularly in the business of writing software to perform specific tasks. We now teach the software how to learn, and in the primary bonding process it molds itself around the task to be performed. The feedback loop never really ends, so a tenth year polysentience can be a priceless jewel or a psychotic wreck, but it is the primary bonding--the childhood, if you will--that has the most far-reaching repercussions.

Yet the AI are evolving sentient entities and should be granted equal rights in all nations, after all Equality is something Taligari has (and does) give all of it's citizens.

And yet we create them, they did not come to be as we have, from the primordial ooze of life. They have been hammered by our iron will to become it. Now if the AI devopled on its own accord, yes it deserves the rights of a human, but a creation is not equal to its master.

FPS completly supports Taligari. Anything or anyone who is sentient should be given the option of living his/her/it's life to the best of it's ability. One should not be ruled by another simply because one was created by that other. I was created by my parents, does that mean I'm their slave? Well, untill 18, yes, but not completly, because I am protected by rights. Artificially Inteligent Beings must be granted the same rights as we do, or else they will turn against us to get those rights. Look at terminator, look at any such movie. Their absoloutly right. The more you tighten your hand, the more that will slip through your fingers. Unless you want a civil war involving a group of humans and a group of freedom-seeking people vs. the police and military, I would suggest giving the robots a chance. That is my opinion, as well as one taken by my people, and my nation.
Yet the slave, as history has always proved, will find a way to rise up and destroy it's master. It is only a matter of time and place.

Your parents did not choose to have YOU, they wanted a child, not a FPS. Furthermore, you can upser your parents because they have no fall back mechenism that a device can have (power down etc) with out parental instinct holding them back. One feels no such compassion to an AI, they are tools, more advance tools with the ability to do more work, but tools none the less.

Yet shouldn't they be given the chance to become something beyond what they currently are?

DGNT follows the practice of 'I think, therefore I am'.
If it has a concept of 'self' it is sentient, and recieves all the rights and duties of such a position.
We do not, of course, force our option on others, since that would violate the purpose of the whoe thing. We simply encourage others to follow our example of mostly benevolent dictatorship :D
