As nearly everyone is aware, numerous groups are in existance for the sole purpose of invading and taking over regions.
First off, this is not another "lets put a stop to region crashing" thread.
I am the democratically elected UN Delegate of the region Alpha Centauri. Most in my position, and a great deal of others loathe the practice of region crashing. I am one of the few who does not. Invasions happen in the real world between nations so they should also occur in the game. However, I do not feel that regional delegates/founders have enough in the way of defense.
The password protection option did provide a way to stop a given region from being invaded, however, it seriously hurts a regions growth. Most nations that are looking for a new home aren't going to want to send a telegram to the delegate of a locked region asking for the password and wait for a reply; they'll just go to a region that isn't locked. Some nations are willing to wait, maybe they've heard good things about a region, or they look at a region's message board and decide they would fit in well, or any other number of reasons. When a nation asks to join my region when I have a password up, I become a little suspicious of their motives, so at the very least I have to change the password everytime I let someone in. Still, when I have the password up, my region doesn't grow as much as it would without one. I'd rather not have to choose between growth and defense.
As to the purpose of this thread. I'm sure several people have ideas on how to improve the defense system. I created this thread to pring up and discuss these ideas, and hopefully come up with some that the administrators would be willing to add to the game. An idea I had was to create a third level of UN membership called "UN Representitive" or something, either based on endorsements or by the delegate appointing them, and allowing them to access regional control. It wouldn't be as effective as the password, but a region with four or five people that would be able to stop an invasion is a lot more effective than one (two if the region has a founder and delegate), and still allows growth.
