A Red Arrow Airlines 747-400 has just exploded over New Llama City and crashed into the New Llamaslovakia Nuclear Research Facility. The 397 aboard the airliner are missing and presumed dead, and we do not yet know the extent of the damage to the Nuclear Research Facility, which is home to four nuclear reactors.
(OOC: before everyone screams godmod on me, note that New llamaslovakia is derived of my former nations, Llamaslovakia and Llamaslovakiania, both of which were started in May 2003... which is a while back, so this technology was already in place when the two nations collapsed and were joined...)

It appears that the burning wreckage of the Boeing landed mostly on the control building, knocking out the control systems for all the reactors, which is not an issue because they are designed to shut down automatically if the control center is knocked out somehow.
The issue, however, lies in the fact that the remainder of the wreckage severely damaged Reactor #3 on the northwest corner of the Facility, and we have no idea what the state of the reactor inside could be. It could have shut down, or it could be very close to a meltdown, and all of the experts at the Facility who are not on vacation at the moment are now dead... the staff was small to begin with due to funding issues.

The nuclear facility has been completely wiped out, and the two nuclear experts we have remaining in the country have been put on a Learjet from the air base they were having a meeting at and should arrive in New Llama City within a few hours. We have been able to confirm that reactors 1, 2, and 4 have shut down, but also we have confirmed that Reactor #3 is still producing an inordinate amount of heat.

The New Llamaslovakian Civil Defense Force has been completely mobilized and is now sealing off perimeters around both the other crash sites and the Nuclear Power Research Facility. We sent a man down in a radiation suit with a Geiger counter to measure the amount of radiation in the reactor, and he passed out and is now somewhere in the collapsed building.

We believe the SPLA to be responsible for this final act of terrorism as well as the other three, and will continue to believe so until proven otherwise. All air traffic in New Llamaslovakian airspace has been grounded and our Air Defense Force (comprised mostly of F-4 Phantoms and F-104 Shooting Stars) has been activated and is patroling the skies over New Llamaslovakia.
The Prime Minister and the Congress have been taken to an undisclosed location. A statement is expected within the hour.

Prime Minister Alex de Large has just issued an evacuation order for the entire northern half of New Llama City. Emergency shelters are being set up in high school gymnasiums all over the city and all over the province.
Esryian experts believe that a meltdown at the Nuclear Power Research Facility may be imminent. They have been on site for a while, and now that the fires are under control they should be able to do their jobs.
In other updates, the office building for the Free Llamaslovakian Congress is in ruins this morning after burning for two days. Twenty-seven people were in the building at the time of the attack (thank God it was the weekend) and all are missing and presumed dead.
The fires burned most of the New Llama Creek subdivision in Llamachase, an upscale suburb of New Llama City. Those fortunate enough to still have homes, however, now have to leave them as a result of the evacuation order.
These are troubling times for New Llamaslovakia, and NLNN will remain on the air at all costs to keep the international community in touch with the situation.

Scratch that, we have just received word that SPLA operatives have seized the Congressional Hall building, where the Free Llamaslovakian Congress meets... no one was in the building at the time but it is now a hornet's nest of SPLA fighters who are prepared for an indefinite standoff with whoever would like to remove them.
Perhaps en route to the interior and the capital, these operatives killed your men? In any case, every soldier you have sent will receive the Order of the Llama award for their service to New Llamaslovakia.

The death toll in the terrorist invasion of New Llamaslovakia climbed to 1146 today with random killings by the SPLA operatives in the Congressional Hall area.
The Esryian Nuclear Accident Response team has said that Reactor #3 is nearing meltdown, and advised the remaining citizens of New Llama City to leave.

meanwhile, our Starfighters (i dont know why i called them Shooting Stars earlier, d'oh) have just taken down the plane piloted by the SPLA (we hope) over New Llamaslovakian waters. We are dispatching several Zodiac rafts to secure the crash area, and divers to investigate the wreckage.

We have bombed the main building, and are now turning back to the carrier to reload. we are also sending in a commando team to help sucure the Congressional hall area after we bomb it.
Civil Defense Force operatives on the ground in the Congressional Hall area are reporting heavy fire coming from the rubble of the building... I told them just to take cover and wait because more airstrikes are on the way.
Apparently, some of the SPLA fighters managed to escape from the main Congressional Hall building and have taken several hostages in the lobby of Congressional Hall Office Park #1, and are demanding (yet again) that we provide them a helicopter to the New Llama City airport and then with a flight to Indonesia. We simply will not meet their demands. These terrorists will not make it out of New Llama City.

This was the scene at the New Llamaslovakian Nuclear Power Research Facility just moments ago as the ailing Reactor 3 went up in a huge fireball. We are not sure what the status of the reactor is at the moment, it could either be shut down or melted down...
We do know by monitoring radios in the area that 5 of the 8 commandos sent into the Reactor 3 building to shut it off were killed in the explosion, but no one is saying whether the reactor shut down or not.

you are looking at live picture of the Nuclear Power Research Facility in northeastern New Llama City, where several minutes ago the Reactor 3 building exploded in a massive fireball. Now all we see is thick black smoke, which leads us to wonder whether or not the reactor was shut down or whether something considerably more catastrophic has happened, and the radios of both the Civil Defense Force and the Esryian nuclear experts are eerily silent...
In other war news, the Congressional Hall area is still burning from the first wave of air attacks in that part of the capital city, and another wave of airstrikes is reportedly to take place soon. Civil Defense Force correspondants have confirmed some incredibly intense firefights taking place in the rubble of the Congressional Hall, and that the hostages in the lobby of #1 Congressional Hall Office Park were killed, along with three of their SPLA captors.
Apperently all older fighters (F-8 and A-6). however there is one fighter keeping out of range for us to figure out the type. it may be a newer fighter such as a F-15.
UPDATE: We are scrambleing all our fighters to intercept these fighters, and the Bomber is prepareing for a second pass over the congressional hall, this time with napalm to try and kill the SPLA Operatives in the rubble.

Civil Defense Force reports that fighting for control of the Office Park has intensified again... with 27 CDF deaths in the past 12 hours.
The battle at the congressional hall has increased enough that the goverment has just cleared that a Brigade of troops is being sent to the city along with 6 Warrior Infantry Fighing Vehicles.
The radiation has escaped, but the leak has been stopped... the area you see on the map below will have to be sealed for at least the next 25 years, until the radiation levels are safe again. We are considering building a canal to cut off the sealed area from the mainland of the country.
Also, the winds have picked up in the southern part of the city and the fires that were confined to the Llamachase area are now spreading. We have assigned several thousand volunteers to help control the blaze.
We are now issuing an international request for assistance in the containment of the exploded Nuclear Power Research Facility.

Tuesday Heights has dispatched 5,000 Special Ops. officers off the coast of the Atlantic Ocean to aid in the battle against the SPLA at the Congressional Hall area. Our operatives are authorized to immediate execute any and all confirmed SPLA members on the ground and to await further instructions from the New Llamaslovakia government to implement a nation-wide hunt for terrorists, arriving in less than 6 hours time by way of choppers.

The Atomic Energy Commission has decided that it would be best to separate the Sealed Area off from mainland New Llama City by building a canal to act as a sort of moat around the site... one bridge will be built so the heavy equipment can be trucked in to build a shell around the destroyed reactor. Reactors 1, 2, and 4 (which are still operational) will be moved to another power plant somewhere else in the country.
The Llamachase fires have been contained from burning any more of New Llama City, but they still rage in the countryside around the city... eventually our volunteers will get it under control.
The only main issue now is the air battle which apparently is still pretty intense, and our Esryian brethren will take care of these villains.

Apparently, the SPLA Fighters are now bombing civilian areas of the city, some are even going as for as to fly sraight into major civilian areas, killing themselfes and any people in the immediate area. also, more fighters are coming, this time from the north.
UPDATE: The SPLA is currently concentrating on the center of the city, with more operatives coming out of hiding and slaughtering anyone in range.

The genral was told the the building was already gone. They were to late but 5 hypersoars were sent to partrol of over the county incase they were needed. As well very precise orbital weapons have been readied. A report from spec ops has told Largent officials that they have suffered only 5 deaths. A ceremony was haeld today for those 5.
As evening rapidly turned to night, a C-27 Spartan from the UN Aproached the New Llama City airport. it had dropped crates outside the airport, and was now flying straight for the Security HQ.

50 more men were rushed in. In the blaze there have only been 3 reported injuries and no deaths but it is hard to keep track. Largent officials are prepared to detinate an EMP to wipe out power for the night. Then special operatives will be able to eliminate the terrorist threat more efficiantly.
