OOC: This thread is to provide background information about the Sultinate of Dodekistan, so that in RP there is some context for the actions it takes.
The founding of Dodekistan is attributed to a group of 20 leaders, some judicial, some military, some scientific and some corporate. These leaders came from the country of n00x and n00bz because of the instability of its government structure. They sought to form a nation which based its international actions on integrity and stability, rather than the unpredictability of n00bz. These leaders wanted to form a government that was strong enough to discourage foreign intrusion and internal insurrection, yet not beligerent in its approach to international politics.
Dodekistan is ruled by a board of, naturally, 20 men. These men come from the 4 branches of Dodek society; judicial, military, science, and business. They are elected by a vote of the people, to terms of 10 years. Every 2 years, there is a popular vote held to choose which among the 20 will be the President of the Board. The President has sovereign power over all of the boardmembers, with the exception of the military branch, which always operates with sovereignty over his branch. The president has the power to choose who will be the head of each branch, and can select new heads at any time. A popular vote of the board can refer back to the people to choose a new President of the Board.
The Judicial branch consists of the courts system. It interprets the Charter of Dodekistan, and is able to declare actions of the board, or any of its members, illegal. It exersizes joint control over the police with the military only as a check over the military branch. It cannot use the police against ordinary citizens.
The military branch consists of the army, air force, internal and external intelligence services, and internal security force. One member from each of these services is on the board, and represents the interests of that service.
The scientific branch is in charge of all scientific affairs within Dodekistan. It has a patent office, research institute (DRI), and is the branch that institutes of higher education and medicine report to. There are also several classified divisions.
Finally, the corporate branch of Dodekistan's government acts as a liason between the government and the private companies inside Dodekistan. It houses the National Bank of Dodekistan, which prints the currency, the kaolo and regulates its distribution so as to regulate its price.
The motto, "Crush All," refers to the statement made by our Great General Morrison on the eve of our independence from n00bz. The n00bz armies were closing in on the fortress Morrison had established on its southern border. Morrison's troops were demoralized from the retreat to this last fortress before they had to cross the border to escape the n00bz onslaught.
On the eve of his imminent destruction, Morrison gave a fiery oration to rally his troops.
"Men, we all know why we are here. We are here because we believe in something better. Something better than what this nation of n00bz can give us. We believe that we can provide for ourselves a better life, but more importantly for our children, who are at this moment being taken out of this God forsaken place until after this Revolution. We owe it to them, and all our decendents, to win this battle today." He paused, listening to the air. "Do you hear that sound, men? Do you feel the earth shaking beneath you? That is an entire division of n00bz tanks headed towards us. They are getting close now. Almost in range. However, I know of something that can stop them. You." His men looked around at each other. There were only 1000 men left, 2 or 3 tanks, and they were running out of ammunition. "That's right, each of you has it in your heart to come out victorious today. Now, take up your arms, man your posts, and prepare for your destiny. Today we will win all! We will kill all! WE WILL CRUSH ALL! ALL OF THEM!" The men stood up and cheered. And later that night, the attack came, and it was ferocious. They were forced to retreat into the hills, but amid a blinding flash, a massive explosion, the pursuers vanished into pools of molten metal. After this, the government of n00bz backed down, and with political dissent from the war culminating in the use of a single tactical nuclear weapon against the government that created it, n00bz imploded, and Dodekistan was born.
