An RP Idea (Vampires)

Assington
11-12-2003, 15:09
I'm thinking of doing something like my Assington police RP, but it is all to do with a special force created to deal with criminal vampires.

Would anyone be interested.

I'm open for many suggestions, I want to keep things modern day.

My vamps are:

Imortal (but not invincible)
Fire kills
Sun kills
Silver hurts
All normal attacks may hurt but not kill.
Severing of limbs does not kill (can be put back on and healed)
Supernatural speed, strength and endurance/resistance
Telekinetic and Telepathic powers
Flight (only the older vamps)
Can climb walls/ceillings
Beheading with a silver object will cause death
Silver bullets to the head kill

I guess they are similar to the Anne Rice concept.

Possibly some sort of vampiric organised crime.

I'll bite. ;)

Are you looking for cops, vamps, or either? I'd be willing to play someone on either side, if you like.

I have established my own vampire characters. I've still got a few things to work on. I'm just interested to see who would be willing to participate?

This would occur outside of our normal stroylines right? So it wouldn't be Rotovia getting involved I'd just be playing a character in your storyline? If so, put me down as a Vampyric character please.

It would take place in Assington. Since vampires a legal there.

Vampiric Organized Crime?

Ever hear of the Giovanni clan?

I'm still working on ideas. It may just be the vamps that do not want to become an open part of the public vs the anti vamp squad.

Haven't heard of the Giovanni clan.

I would be quite happy to join. Obviously I would not use my version of vampires, I would use the one that you have set to make everything nice and conformed. I will try for a interesting vampire, not just the sterotypical one (I mean in character, not in abilties).

Goodo.

I'm thinking this will all be about the vamps that disagree with the new vamp laws in Assington.
13-12-2003, 13:24
Urm...this is not fantasy is it? Just that I have never done a "real life" rp, with guns and things, or future for that matter. What setting is this in? And I think I will be playing a rather bitter vampire, a fledgling of course. Make a change from the good of Kain. I am trying to get my character personalities away from the film typicals (I am a vampire! I am evil for no reason! I have no motives!) etc...

I am sure I can adapt to anything you want, but I need some background info on the city and such so I can my character right, because he/she will be living there for all thier life.

I'd like to play a cop, or a team of such. Preferebly a small Special Forces team from my country, sent in to cross-train. As such, they will carry Quin aen equipment, but use local ammo.

Approx. modern times, right?

My nation has a starfleet, but is presently limited to below c, and has mostly conventional ground forces - think Starship Troopers the movie. So my troops have real weapons, modified for military use, real armor, real equipment, but arrive by dropship. Grunt Automatic Riflemen have light powered exoskeletons, but they're too inconvenient and noisy for Special Forces and Ranger use.

Are you the guys who ran that huge vampire melee this past spring?

OOC: Bah... I'll leave vampires for a while, I've got too many big RPs to finish as it is. But I have to comment on the fact that the book was by far superiour to the film Starship Troops... which was almost and insult, though the cartoon series is still wrong it does get the idea a bit better. Still, who can't love the idea of drop pods... my nation uses the M.I from the book as the ulimate form of elite trooper... it's why my nation of 1.6 billion only has 200 powered armour suits and about 400 trained M.I.

OOC: Well, I was going for the "modern forces... with a few exoskeletons and DROPSHIPS!!!!" idea.
I've not read the book, but Heinlein is on my list of books to read, next to Snow Crash, Quicksilver (on a Stephenson bend right now), some more Gibson, and maybe whatever else I see. I know that the MI from the book aren't the same as the MI in the movie, but seeing as I haven't read it that's really all I know.
And I believe that Starship Troopers is a vastly underrated movie. EVERYBODY who read the book compares it to the book. The media are totally different, there's a lot you can do with the visual element. I believe Verhoven was going for a parody of the entire genre, of sorts - graphic violence, gratuitous nudity, violent "space marine" types, a young officer who becomes a grizzled veteran. It's fairly obvious by the propaganda movies they show every now and then.

This is modern times, with a few pieces of technology that are future like.

I'll start it off with the founding of the organisation.

It will take place in Emerald City, Assington. It's on the north coast.

OOC: I know, but some parts were intolerable... for example the M.I running away from all those aliens when they see them for the first time. Unfortunatly alot of the parody in the film is missed by most. It's not the way they do it, but the things they get wrong... they are meant to be increbably well trained men and the training makes most of them quit... they damn near encourage you to quit so they can get rid of the weak.

The book was critised for making war look heroic and the such, but when you read it, it isn't about the violence and technology... but the mentality and society behind it...

But I see what you mean... I'm just a cynical book reader who always thinks the book is better. [/rant]

I'm still working on ideas. It may just be the vamps that do not want to become an open part of the public vs the anti vamp squad.

Haven't heard of the Giovanni clan.

Giovanni Clan: Vampire: The Masquerade

During the 17th century, some Giovanni studies turned up references to a book called Khazar's Diary, which supposedly had substantiating information on invoking the Endless Night. Augustus knew that there was a copy in the library at the Cappadocian mountain temple of Erciyes. He sent Claudius after it.

Despite a rigorous search, Claudius and his people could not find the book. Frustrated, Claudius ordered the temple burned after thay had salvaged everything they could.

Around this time, a wandering monk/vampire called the Capuchin, who had some ties to the Church, made a deal with Augustus: In exchange for access to all the forbidden texts in the Vatican library, the Capuchin would receive instruction in the Discipline of Necromancy. The great discovery that came from this deal was that many of the old texts Augustus got from the Vatican had their authors bound to them as wraiths. They shared their knowledge of Black Magic with Augustus, which enabled the Clan to make some great leaps in Necormancy. Of course, a lot of what we heard was useless or even false, but the advances we made we quite beneficial to Augustus' cause.

One night, the Capuchin came with an excerpt of Japheth Cappadocius' journal relating to the Embrace of Augustus. Apparently there had been a bit of Cappadocius' blood left over. Japheth and Constancia kept that blood and sealed it in a jar with beeswax and left it in the Erciyes temple.

Augustus was none too pleased about Claudius' having burned the temple to the ground with Cappadocius' blood in it. Augustus had always sworn that, the night he diablerized Cappadocius, a little bit of his soul got away. If there had ever been an opportunity to finish the job, that bottle of blood would have been it. Needless to say, Claudius didn't make it through the night. Legend has it that Augustus didn't drink Claudius' soul, instead giving it to the Capuchin.

While Augustus was occupying himself with ghosts and mythical blood, the rest of the Family was building the Clan into a progressive legion of industrialists and upper-middel class traders speculating on the growing global economy of the 19th century. We realized we were doing this for ourselves, not as puppets, and we had the choice between the spirituality of the Endless Night and the temporal bliss of infinite cash.

As time progressed, the world moved into a state of global economy. By slowly exerting more and more influence in the global market, we put ourselves in the position we needed (and still need) to be in. We were creating dependencies on our own ventures; Giovanni presence becomes vital in key locations, and the more we have, the more powerful we become.

The end result of this is that we are approaching the ability to destroy the global economy. This would produce chaos. With chaos comes violence. With violence comes death. If we can arrange for things to all happen at once, we should be able to easily exceed the hundred million mark. And that's when we'll really come into our own.

The Giovanni family has been forging some major inroads into Kindred society and politics as of late. Additionally, there have been some internal shakeups.

The Camarilla mysteriously vanished from Carlsbad, and the Sabbat quickly followed, creating a power vaccuum, which was filled by Salvatore Giovanni. In Huntington Beach, Arcans removed the last Prince of the City and, when no one else would move, Drianda Giovanni assumed the position, much to the consternation of the local Camarilla. Giovanni have been holding the Office of Sheriff in two cities for some time now (all others being too weak and inefficient to handle the position), but we will be stepping down from those -- the internal shakeups are simply more deserving of attention than Camarilla politics.

Santino Giovanni, who had been the Don of San Diego, was recently killed and diablerized while visiting a club in Long Beach. This was quickly followed by Enzio Giovanni stepping down as Lord of the West Coast (due to other obligations). Liam Dunsirn took over for Enzio, and Drianda Giovanni was made Dona of San Diego.

Would it be alright if I played a kind of older Vamp, someone who had choosen to remain in solitude until he discovered the new laws and in oppostion to them has emerged. He wouldn't be to extreme but he would do alot of arse kicking. :D

Could we please not use the White Wolf stuff? I don't feel like reading through volume after volume of their insipid crap just to prepare for this thing. Thanks.

When are you doing this? Or is it already started?

If I join, I'll join with the usual character I use in this kind of chronicles. Alessia the Succubus looking for redemption hunting the creatures of the darkness. If this kind of "magical" and mythical character is allowed in this RP of course...

Agreed. If I'm participating, I'd prefer to be shooting at bloodsuckers rather than reading pages of vampiric angst.

So can I participate?

I'm going to start either today or tomorrow. I'll post a link in this thread when it is up.

This is strictly a modern day rp. No fantasy/magical characters save for two kinds.

Obviously the vampires. And psychics. Assington has a growing psychic population so that's fine.

We are a nation of humans (tasty) and vampires. We have two classes of Vampires.

The first class cannot be killed by sunlight.
Wood stakes to the heart do the trick. They are more intelligent tahn the wild vampires.

the second class is teh Wild Vampire which looks humanoid but not human. They are vunerable to sunlight, beheading, and are extremely strong and aggressive.

Supreme Vampiric Emporer War General Angelus.

hmmm, looks fun, but my vampires are a bit too different from yours for them to really work in this kinda thing.
they:
inherit vampirism, it cannot be passed to one not born with it
are sensitive to sunlight, especially their eyes
are NOT immortal, although they tend to age fairly slowly and live long
do NOT necessarily kill those they feed from, in fact, most feed from close friends
are entitled to all the same rights as a Callisdrunian citizen as any human member of the population.
are much closer tot he lesser-known moroii, or "living vampire" in Hungarian myth.
