Mercenary Soldiers

OOC: Another attempt at a novel RP concept. Here's the backstory...
The year is 1969, and the Cold War continues. Russia is now a formidable world power, possessing a huge military and a large stockpile of nuclear weapons. America has been lax in its defensive measures during the past decade and Russia has openly expressed intentions of invading the US...
You will play a single character in this RP, a civilian caught in the middle of the invasion. Until the invasion actually takes place, your character will see news bulletins on the TV reguarding the current situation. The RP focuses on a single city, Los Angeles California. A concerned LAPD policeman, Jack Bailey, has begun to take measures to be prepared to make life hell for the Russians, if (read: when) they invade. Your character can have any sort of non-military profession, military expeirence as a foot soldier, that kind of thing. I don't want Action Heroes, anime/Matrix stunts, or anything like that. It's unlikely that everyone will be a former Navy SEAL with twenty years of combat expeirence and is master in every form of combat. Your character won't have a pile of AK-47's in their basement, that sort of thing. Personal weapons are allowed, I'll make an extensive list of acceptable stuff.
Weapons:
Handguns:
Glock 17 9mm
Glock 21 .45 ACP
Glock 19 .40 S&W
Colt Phython .357 Revolver
Smith and Wesson, .38/.357 Revolver
Ruger Single Six .22/.22 mag/.22 longrifle Revolver
Browning Target master .22
Colt M1911A1 .45 ACP
Redhawk .44 Revolver
.25 CAC (Conceal and Carry)
.380 CAC (Conceal and Carry)
P-08 Luger 9mm
P-38 Walther 9mm
Walther PP .32 ACP
.45 Peacemaker Revolver
.44 Colt Walker Revoler
Rifles and shotguns:
Browning Riot gun 12 gague pump
Widowmaker 12 gague breach-loader
30.06 bolt action
.22 bolt action
M1 Garand 30.06
Hunting Crossbow
Hunting Bow
Melee:
Louisville Slugger
Switchblade (4-6 in)
Bowie knife
Kitchen Knife
Brass knuckles
Riot Baton (Police only)
Pepper Spray
Attachments:
Barrel length (Revolvers only) 3-6 in. (Will decrease concealment ability after 4 in)
Bull Barrel (revolvers only) Decreases recoil from powerful rounds. (extra weight)
Magna-Port (revolvers only) Decreases recoil from powerful rounds. (larger, more visible muzzle flare.)
Scope (rifles only) 10x max.
Ammo Bracer (Rifles only) Can attach extra rounds to rifle stock.
Your character will start with two ranged(optional) weapons (Rifle/Shotgun is second), and a single melee weapon, but more will become avaliable later on in the RP as the resistance begins to stockpile weapons and take weapons from Russian forces as they raid supply convoys. Weapons can also be found in gun stores, but draw from the above weapons list. Items like AR15's can be found in National Guard armories, but there are very few of these. The resistance will need to use stealth and tactics to drive back the Russians. For example: Blowing up a fuel depot that refuels tanks and attack choppers will cause tanks and choppers to be grounded until more fuel arrives. The rebels can then strike while the enemy is waiting for more supplies, and cripple the choppers and tanks while they sit idle. You can charge in guns-a-blazing, just don't expect to win every time.
Russian Gear:
AK-69 7.62mm
RPG-7
AKS-69U 7.62mm
Makarov 9x21mm Gurza
RPD 7.62mm
SVD 7.62mm
Character Professions:
Each Profession has certain benefits.
Policeman (handgun and baton training. More skilled with handguns.)
Doctor (Can heal serious wounds and broken bones)
Professional Hunter (Skilled long-range rifle shot.)
Nurse (Can treat minor wounds and speed recovery.)
Plumber (Can access LA's vast sewer network from manholes across the city.)
Electrician (Can disable various electrical systems and repair damaged ones)
National Guard (Skilled shorter-range rifle shot)
Cook (Skilled with kitchen knife, can prepare food.)
Gangster (Slight skill with handgun, bat, and brass knuckles)
Construction Worker (Strong, can find weak points in buildings.)
Vietnam Veteran (Skilled rifle shot mid-range, older)
Buisness Person (Charismatic, blends in with less rebellious citizens.)
Mechanic (Can disable vehicles, and repair them.)
I only use such strict guidelines to ensure the mood of the RP stays intact, not to make it hard on everyone else. I hope you enjoy, here's the starting post...
IC:
Jack Bailey sat at his LA townhome late on Wednesday night, watching the 11 o'clock news.
"Recent interviews with government officials have pointed to suspected Russian invasion. The government has been very tight-lipped about anything concerning our defensive measures..."
'That ain't good...' Jack thought to himself. He decided to talk to a few of his neighbors the following day, after work, and see if they might assist him in setting up a 'precautionary measures'
