Greetings. Upper Virginia is currently ruled by an oppressive dictatorship composed of the military, the internal security forces and the corporate elite. The head of the military is becoming increasingly oppressive and paranoid. This has sparked two opposition movements. One, led by big business and some mid-level military officers is seeking to oust the dictatorship and restore some semblance of democracy. This group is being covertly aided by the Commonwealth of Varessa. The other group is the Free Virginia Liberation Army, which is dedicated to a socialist future for UV. The FVLA has just taken control of the UV city of Harrington and declared the Democratic Republic of Free Virginia. (Free Virginia is a new puppet that I will use to RP the FVLA.) All this is taking place in this thread: http://www.nationstates.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=66633. While I have alluded to the idea that the FVLA has foreign backing, those backers have not shown up, yet. So, now I need a left-leaning or socialist country to be willing to RP the FVLA's foreign backer as this thread begins heading for its conclusion.

I do ask that anyone interested in playing keep in mind that I want this to be mostly about political intrigue and perhaps some covert operations. I don't want this to end up in a bunch of countries invading and declaring war on each other (remember that UV is a big, wealthy and well-armed country). So, if you're interested in joining the RP, let me know and we'll discuss.

OOC: Boreal Islands is a nearly anarchist lefty state, and as a result is almost unarmed. If your idea includes non-military support (like secretly harbouring opposition members), this nation would probably involve itself.

There are a lot of political movements independent of the "government" which may have more militant methods. Of course, what these loose cannons decide to do is anyone's guess. :D

Anyways, sounds interesting.

OOC: This nation is militant, socialist, and democratic. However, it's small and has an imploded economy, so I'm not sure what it could do besides perhaps send some of its most fanatical citizens (unofficially, of course) to help with covert operations. I'm willing to help in this way if you want, but you'll propably need additional foriegn backing, such as someone with enough money to get us weapons.

ooc: aha, you've found your man. SeOCC has a long history of sticking our noses where they don't belong, covert ops behind enemy lines, we just got done supporting a similar revolution in Svea Riga. also, SeOCC has plenty of gear to give and cash to fund it, so if the group in question was ideologically aligned with SeOCC (against KSM, not Stalnistic bastards) we'd support them if they asked.
