Several Milleniums Ago:
The planet of Kobol sat dying, in orbit of a sun whos glow had already begun to fade.Radiation spikes from solar flares caused cancer to sky rocket at periodic intervals amongst the populations of Kobol and hundreds of scientists were used to study just what caused the problem. What scientists found was that if the people of Kobol did not find a way to escape the system they would perish with their world, and eventually with their star. Humans however have a distinct distrust of each other and were fragmented. Thirteen tribes of humans, who battled each other for hundreds of years before they came to the collective conclusion that they would die unless they found a way to get away from their homeworld. Most of the tribes banded together, however the 13th, the most advanced of the tribes, the only tribe that had managed to keep itself above most of the fighting, knew full well of their plight before the others and had secretly sunk all their resources on vessels by the hundreds to carry their people. They waited though, as the other twelve tribes toiled away and finally decided upon where they would take their combined fleet. The thirteenth tribe then acted with the knowledge of where the other twelve would go went in a direction completely opposite that, heading into uncharted space one can only wonder what the tribe believed as they made the exodus. Could they have been tired of the constant fighting by the other tribes? Did they feel that once we found our new home that the tribes would return to fighting once more? Historians, philosophers and theologians have asked these questions for hundreds of years. Many over the centuries have discounted the 13th Tribe Story as nothing but a mere myth created to keep the colonies united in its trying time. The remaining tribes waited for several more decades before they departed from Kobol heading toward a system that remote exploration craft had determined would be completely sufficient for the people of Kobol. We named this system Cyrannus and it has been our home ever since.

Several Hundred Years Ago:
For a time Twelve Tribes settled in peace in what our people called the Cyrannus System. Twelve worlds one for each of the tribes. It took decades of hard work, and toil before basic infustructure was in place and before the cities began to rise in the skies. Old rivalries flared and for a time after several incidents the entire sector was embroiled in conflict. Alliances formed, two coalitions between those who followed the tribes on Caprica and those who followed the tribe who settled on Scorpia. For nearly a decade before the last of Scorpia's allies fell the sector saw fighting between primitive space vessels and transports moving armies across the solar system. With the defeat of the Scorpia Alliance, a new united government was formed. No longer a council of twelve individuals representing the Tribes, who were fallable and easily all to often brought into power struggles with each other for prestige. A new system had to be inacted and after several years the Republic of the Twelve Colonies was formed.Led by the very first Colonial President on Caprica City the transition was surprisingly smooth from the council to a representative government with a Senate of representatives from the twelve worlds of the system. Since then the colonies have remained rather peaceful as the primitive combat vessels gave way to civilian transports between the planets and the distinction between the tribes decreased to the point where much like the location of our homeworld Kobol the names of the 12 were lost to the sands of time itself.

Forty Years Ago:
The first Artifical Intelligence is created in a research facility on Taura. Named Cy-01, it was the precursor to the Cylons. Cy-01 was used at first to control simple tasks and duties however in our ultimate strive to create things that are better than the last, Cy-01 was upgraded, and eventually avatars for the AI program were created. Thus the first Cylons were born. Several different types were created, from the diplomatic version, to common labor force, the military took a keen interest to AI design and fashioned what would be a terrible future menace to all of the colonies. It is unsure of exactly when the AIs decided in the span of the next 30 years to declare there independence. We do know however that when they did, it was a sudden strike across all twelve worlds and the opening salvos of the conflict resulted in millions of death, and the resulting war saw humanity almost wipe itself out. Hindsight bias shows us that humanity played god to serve its own ends. This lazyiness upon our part almost caused our downfall. If not for the rapid militarization of our culture to the single goal of retaining its existence. Over the ten year period the heaviest fighting was concentrated on the industrial worlds of Libra and Gemon where approximately 45% of all Cylon AI types were constructed. However fighting did not solely take place in the Cyrannus system as out of system holdings were also fought over. The Cylons developed their own warships and fighters using designs which were turned down by the Colonial Navy, and weapons discarded by Colonial Warriors. Coming several times to toppling the planet Capirca. However by the end of the seventh year the first Battlestar, Atlantia, was commissioned and pressed immediately into service. Helping to quell the Cyrannus system before moving on four more Battlestars, the Columbia, Pegasus,Rycon and Galactica were built. These five warships the largest built by humanity since the exodus from Kobol. At the end of the 10th year whatever Cylon had not been destroyed in Cyrannus or the surrounding region had actively fled for the stars. We are unsure where the Cylons have settled however they remain a viable threat to the colonies. By the end of the revolt the numbers of people on the colonies dwindled from over 13 billion spread out over the 12 worlds to only 5 million people.

Technical Note:
Due to the revolt, the following worlds in the system were depopulated and their peoples centralized on other worlds: Virgon,Sagitara and Aries. The worlds have been declared for the time being offlimits by the Colonial Government and it is uncertain when our people will be able to reinhabit those worlds which have been lost to us.

OOC: I assume you're using the history from the new Battlestar: Galactica series, and not the old one
