Renard

"As we celebrate the birth of our 500 millionth citizen, a booming economy and civil and political liberties that are the envey of the free world, it is also important to look back at what we originally set out to achieve. Renard is a country at a turning point; do we continue our descent in to anarchy, where law and order are alien concepts?
Or do we look forward, and strive to build a nation where every citizen has the same chance to achieve success? Strive to build a nation where civil and political liberties go hand in hand with the refusal not to tolerate crime?
I choose the latter, and with the mandate the people have given me and my government in the recent elections we will drive forward: We are walking a tight rope, at any moment we could make a wrong move and plunge deeper in to anarchy or rebound in to dictatorship.
We will hold true to our election pledges: The alternative isn't simply loosing the following election - it is the possible destruction of what makes this country great.
Thank you, and good night."

Fumbling for his radio once started yelling for assisstance while the other fired a couple of shots from his Sig P226 towards the run down building the "militia" had taken cover in.
Vigilantees, nothing more.
"We've been attacked by a group of them, maybe half a dozen, we need assisstance."
"Backup units dispatched, keep your heads down."
In the distance, the sirens of two fast Armed Response Units could be heard, and a police helicopter would be near by.
