REO Motors Intenational (REOI-Klatchian Exchange)announces the buyout of The Spartan Motor Corporation (SPAR-NASDAQ). The purchase will be both cash and a 2:1 stock swap. Spartan Shareholders will recieve $8 dollars per share in cash and 1 share of REO stock ($30) for 3 shares of Spartan Motors($9.09) The total cash equivilant of the purchase is $18 per share, the total price is estimated at $219 Million USD
REO President John Maro explained REO Motors Purchase of the company. In the past few years we have been using Sparten Chassis systems in some of our proposed designs. Coupled with their large experience in manufacturing Recreational Vehicles and Emergency Response Equipment we hope that is buyout will allow us to open up markets and develop cross products with our military vehicle division.
At news of purchase REOI stock lost a point on open market trading. Spartan motors has had a large debt load since it's purchase of Crimsion Fire several years ago also over the last year there has been a 10% decrease in sales to 17.5 million USD per year and a 64% drop in revenue.
