is it just me or do the nations hereabouts produce massive and expensive technologies way to fast, here i am paddling along trying to build up a space fleet of respectible size and strength, and other younger nations are whipping by building the same things in a day or two, now this might be just me but i think that these younger countries ought to slow the hell down and get a dose of reality into their unreal world (not that any of this is real) or maybe i should just speed up? anyone got a real answer?

I agree, many nations move too fast. I wouldn't speed up, though; then you can't complain about them. :)

just let em go their way. It's your right to choose to RP with them or not. There is no point complaining about everyone's interpretation of how long time goes on this place. You roll with it and go on. I've been dismayed with the amount of things nations younger than me produce. But if they want to do it, it's their choice.

We cant stop it since nobody can force their playing style on another. My advice. Just move on :P.

Using 1 NS year = 1 Irl day, it took me 42 days to build a shipyard, 24 for the second, and another 15 for the construction of my current fleet. Everything roleplayed.

it took 2 RL months to demolish my old Star Wars fleet and replace it with my Homeworld Taiidan Fleet.

Not rollplayed as much, but still more realistic. The fleet currently contains 40 ships. mostly small frigates.

There's a fine line between too short a time and too long a time. And the ambition of the project can make people want to add years to development that don't need to be there.

To be frank, 115 years total for both DNS-class vessels was a very long time to wait.

Thelas has been using fluid time a LOT, I am an impacient person, and taking an entire RL year to build my new Grav-Fleets was just too much. Even then, I still RP that not all of my fleets are shiny new Grav-ships. I am going to wait till New Years to say that I have finished.

i think its because when you look at the price tag against your GDP, it seems so small. Most smaller nations have budgets in the hundreds of billions, so they figure they have that much to spend, with that they can purchase 10 capital ships from a storethread and 1000 fighters

i admit i have bought around 20 capital ships in one transaction becasue the total came to 1.4trillion, easily afordable with my current budget

Do what you want based on your needs and objectives. Every country has a different fate and their decisions lead to different outcomes. Just because some are racing along rapidly you ones like you and me are piddling around in dead last doesn't mean a thing. You have to make decisions based on what kind of country you have, your GDP and other factors.

Look at it this way. If they rush the construction, the ship itself is shoddily made. The longer it takes, the better built it is. I know I'm building one in a time span of five (IC) years, but the ship itself is relatively small.
