Second Il Adib Attack in Two Weeks

The SLAGLands

From The SLAGTown Mirror, Sunday, December 7, 2XXX:

SLAGTOWN - At 11:43 p.m. last Friday night, 28-year-old Il Adib assembly line worker Cody Rogerson returned home to find his wife, 32-year-old Hailey McCracken-Rogerson, collapsed on her kitchen floor, the victim of a brutal attack. She was dead upon arrival to SLAGTown Memorial Hospital.

A thorough police investigation revealed that the wounds suffered to Mrs. Rogerson were similar to those suffered by Prime Minister Marlena Vera Cantrell not two weeks ago. SLAGTown Police Chief V.V. Spitz revealed earlier today that the attacks were instigated by Rogerson's half-Adib son, 4-month-old Kelson Rogerson.

"I just... really don't know what to think," Mr. Rogerson said in an interview with the Mirror. "I never would've thought my son would do such a thing. I still think it was an accident, of course, but you never can be too sure about that these things. It's just very strange."

In the face of the recent rash of Il Adib attacks on their human mothers, many SLAGLanders are beginning to second-guess the decision to allow Adib/human marriages.

"It's just not natural!" said Pastor Geoffrey Phail of the First Church of the Hand of Christ in SLAGTown. "The Lord does indeed love Il Adib as His people, just the same as anyone else, but to place them in the same biological category as humans... well, that's just insane!"

Still others believe that these attacks are further proof that Il Adib have no place in The SLAGLands at all and should be returned to The Outset Islands from which they came. A rally 20,000 strong today gathered outside of The Plaid House, calling for the exportation of all Il Adib back to The Outsets.

Prime Minister Cantrell and Acting Prime Minister Bodyguard Barry have declined comment at this time.

"What do you make of it?" asked the dark-haired woman behind the desk. She slowly sipped from a glass of red wine, something she all too often has near at hand of late it seems.

Antonio Pellegrino shook his head, scowling. "About the only thing for certain we can make out is the effect it's having within the nation. If someone is trying to drive a wedge between the Outsets and the SLAGLands, they couldn't be doing a better job."

"I've seen the reports. They're calling for another election." Her tone leaves no doubt as to what she thinks about that little mess.

"Pacci's briefed me on the details of young Il Adib that he observed while on the dig, and he verifies the fact that the little devils are indeed all too capable of such violence. However, he wanted the record to show that his experiences were based on pre-joining," he replied, referring to the incident of the remerging of Esmerelda's two halves.

Nathicana sat, sipping her drink thoughtfully for a moment. "It doesn't seem quite right, somehow. Children attacking their mothers ... it's possible, but it just sits wrong. See what you can make of it, Toni. Get some people in where you can. Barry's a friend, and this just isn't looking good. Nevermind the fact, I owe Shodey. If there's someting we can do here, by damn, we will. Look closer into that damn Moridar and Shterpa. I remember all too well the happenings back in Freod. I don't trust him."

He nodded, his own brow still furrowed. "We'll do what we can. Just know that checking things out close in the Outsets is going to be pretty tough, seeing as they're non-human there. We stick out like a sore thumb."

"Just do what you can. Keep me updated."

Without further comment, he rose to his feet, giving her a respectful nod, and left the room, leaving her with her thoughts, and her wine.
