Gvt. Sattelite Missile System Hacked (Attn. Ma-Tek)

TROUSRS

<SECRET>Computers have always been TROUSRS main industry. Development of technology employed 46 percent of the nation, and software was sold as if it were drugs.

But recently, development got out of hand..

What the hell do you mean: "The Government was hacked", how can you hack a government? Shouted a disgruntled Kuzmich.

Well, the computer systems, sir. They can read government issue files, secret reports.. This won't be good.

Can't you shut them down komrade?

It's complicated, sir. It almost appears that they have better technological advantages then we do..

WE DONT WANT THIS ON THE PUBLIC RECORD, UNDERSTAND? Keep this under wraps! What do you think will happen if the International Community finds out that we cant control and damn machine?! They try and hack our systems, they get a bad impression.. one that says "Those damn Trousinians can't do anything right." or for our enemy's "Kick 'em while there down.." you fix this now damnit!

A loud siren goes off, it continues. Beep after beep.

What's that mean? inquires Kuzmich.

There is a brief pause, a lady walks up to Mr. Vasilly and whispers in his ear. His head turns downward. He looks up to see Kuzmich waiting for an answer.

Um.. one of our sattelites has be overthrown and taken away, we don't know where. Vasilly sees kuzmich look away and shake his head. His fists klench. It's out of our range, we can't track it, sir, it's gone. Kuzmich's fists tighten even more.

Suddenly his eyebrows raise in a questionable manner. He turns to Vasilly. We're not talking about some weather sattelite are we.. his strong voice trailed off.

No... It was T-obJ 2.1.5.. Kuzmich's eyes looked doubtedly towards Vassily.

What is that?

It's a missile sattelite. Right now, it is carrying 26 computer guided missiles.. 5 are nuclear.. he was inturrupted by kuzmich.

A-and the rest are conventional, right?

Vasily frowns. No. The rest are biological, full of tiny spores that float through the air. These bio's are no joke. Easily contagous, slowly takes over the body, shutting it down within 2 weeks maximum, the invected person won't even notice until 1 week after he gets it. Thats plenty of time to make contact with others..

Why do we even have these types of weapons?

You're the one that ordered them up there sir, what are you talking about why?

Huh, I did no such thing!

Look, I still have the memo.

He rushes to his office and returns with a government issue document. Kuzmich skims through it. Within 5 seconds: I didn't write this, nor order it to be writen.

Then who.. Vasilly was inturrupted yet again by the siren. The same lady runs to him and wispers in his ear again. His eyes shoot up. Are you sure? She nods.

Sir, Channcelor Kuzmich Postolski, 2 of the five nuclear missiles have struck.

Struck? Struck where?

Stalingrad IT University... and Silence The Channcelorship Quarters in Vasanova.

My FAMILY WAS IN THERE! They are still at home!

Sir, they were evacuated when you left the capital to come here. He does not respond. A long period goes by before: Mr. Postolski, there has been another strike, this time not in TROUSRS.

Wha..? I didn't want this to be an international issue!</SECRET>

It has struck EOTED, er Ma-Tek is the nation's name.

<SECRET>We've Never had any dealings with EOTED. Why would the hackers strike there?.. the dignified voice yet again turned weak.

What, exactly, hit them?

The other 3 nukes and 16 Bio's.

WHAT! The room of opperatives went silent. After 2 minutes or so, Kuzmich spoke: We cant let them know.. I will not let them believe that I have no control over my military. As soon as we revieve word from them, let me know.. I'm taking a rest..

Panic has erupted within Isla de Penguinata as millions watch in shock as the news story goes over the air. Many are weeping, wondering how such an accident could happen. The streets of Isla de Penguinata have been filled with gloom, as that of a cloudy day on what could be the most beautiful spring day. The trees in downtown parks across the nation are listfully blowing in the wind, not comforted by the normal cries of cheer and laughter.

It is a somber and alarming day for the world. I have never seen such a tragedy in my entire life, and few before us have. This horrific event was apparently caused by a rogue satellite, or one that was in complete power of the nation who used it. We have yet to find who did it, or why. My administration will get to the bottom of this, and this horrific act will not go unseen by me.

I offer my whole-hearted condolences to the people of the EOTED, and hope that they may recover as soon as they can. It is truly alarming that such a thing has occurred, so recently after a coalition was formed to place economic sanctions upon the EOTED. Again, I will look into this deeper, my fellow Penguinatans. God bless.

IDF High Command, somewhere underneath Nenya

The missiles were indeed inbound. The satop could not quite believe his eyes; just who would dare?

And then the final analysis - made by Tatya, the Artificial Sentient Intelligence responsible for space assets - came in.

The source of the missiles was verified; a satelite of some sort...

And the source of the satelite was definitely not in doubt.

"Uhm... SIR!"

The alarmed shout ended any discussions in the vast IDF High Command Chamber. The satops hand lanced out; his finger hit a single key... a key that hadn't been hit in nearly a year.

* * *

Non-specific Location

{-The missiles were rapidly tracked by GUARDIAN. GUARDIAN knew what they were, where they were, how fast they were moving, where they would land, what the probability of an air burst versus a ground burst was-

But all that data was completely unimportant.

GUARDIAN made a decision based on the data available to it, just a few milliseconds after the data had poured in-}

The GUARDIAN grid lanced out with deadly accuracy - and with overwhelming firepower. E-cannons roared to life, and thousands - no, millions - of homes lost power as the GUARDIAN Defence Grid opened fire with all the ferocity it had allocated to the task. Which actually wasn't much, in truth. The E-cannons simply needed more power to remain cohesive at the range that had been decided upon by the sub-sentient AI controlling them.

The pure-white beams lanced out from close to two hundred locations at exactly the same moment, criss-crossing the sky around the incoming missiles. On impact at some 600,000 feet above sea level, the missiles are disected - the bioweapons are rendered useless by the massive thermal output of the impacts of billions of charged particles.

It only takes a few scant seconds-

"The Empire demands an explanation for the attempted nuclear assault by the nation of TROUSRS. We are relatively certain that TROUSRS is behind this assualt for a simple reason: we watched the missile satelite being launched. The identity of the assault platform has been verified to be the satelite known to us as TR-41-Beta. We do not know the designation that TROUSRS gives the satelite, and we do not care.

If no valid explanation is given within the next six hours, the nation of TROUSRS will be subject to a full scale retalitory strike by the Empire of the Eternal Dawn."

~ Ambassador Relhatti

[OOC: The defense grid is designed to handle thousands of incoming, so this is little problem. The likelihood of any bacterial/viral agent surviving an E-cannon strike is absolutely tiny - the missiles would have been heated to close to the temperature of the surface of the Sun when the particle beams intersected their path. The atmosphere around the missiles would likewise have become superheated - a small portion of it, in fact, would likely have become excited plasma for a few brief seconds.]

IC:

Throughout the Empire

Within the hour, the 'streets' - not so much roads as grassy paths, thanks to the outright ban on automobiles and the replacement of said automobiles with Rivette Rotor's and similar flying MI 'cars' - of every major city in the Empire are packed to breaking point with demonstrating, angry people. Not only was the power failure a major irritant, but INN has carried full details on the nature of the missiles - leaked from inside the IDF by an unknown party.

The people of the Empire literally howl for blood...

...and the Empire has a history of listening to such actions.

Near Earth Orbit, EOTED Space, nr. Vilya Elenosto

Two carriers slip out of EOTED space with quiet intent and move out towards cislunar space, not-so-quickly joined by slower cruiser and destroyer escorts. They do not hurry, but they do not hide the movement, either. It is obvious, clear, and most definitely visible. The ships give off their usual bright white glow as electrons spill away from their hull, only to be trapped again by the MI field and put to work again-

Isla de Penguinata

2000 Zulu
Location: Mid-Atlantic Ocean

The two fleets that Isla de Penguinata had just deployed days earlier were now abuzz with activity. They had heard the reports, and saw on television the amazing performance of Ma-tek's missile defense system. Sailors were readying themselves, and all decks were being put on high alert.

Admirals Breunburg and Platte of the 1st and 2nd Naval Fleets were meeting on the PSS Arundemont, discussing the recent chain of events. Admiral Breunburg, decked in a navy blue uniform, was angry. "Damnit, first he sends us off to attack Ma-tek, and now we're going to defend it! This is getting insane!" Platte intervened, "Now there, Josef, we have our orders. In my opinion, the President finally woke up and smelled the roses. We have to figure out where they are first of all, and then clear it with them if we can place ourselves in a defensive position off their coast." Admiral Breunburg finally sighed. "Okay Matt, you've got it. We need to do that, and I'll get my aide on it immediately." With the mention of his name, Jon Reaton immediately stood up. "Sir?" Josef responded, telling him what to do, and to do it immediately.

[FROM: PSS ARUNDEMONT]

We have orders to secure your coast, though we need your permission to do so. It is our concern that you may be attacked, and we wish to protect your nation. Two of our fleets are awaiting your permission to head out to your coast, as well as find out where your nation exists. Once this information is given, we will promptly make sure that the EOTED is defended from Naval attack.

Aboard the S.P.S. Capella, Battle Fleet Flag, Earth Orbit, Currently over the South Atlantic.

The scan tech watched as two missiles seperated from the satellite. Interesting weapons test, to fire them at your own country and... "Holy shit!"

The tech's supervisor spun around at the excalmation, angry at the profanity, and saw the screen, with the fading nuclear blasts in TROUSRS, and the back plot on the missiles, and his anger faded, and then became shock as more missiles were loosed, their track obvious from the computer projection. Further, the computers revealed what type of missiles they were as the EOTED defense net blew them from the sky.

The duty supervisor hit the key, copying the display to the command deck. A second later, the atonal howl of the General Quarters alarm howled through the massive ship, four kilometers of battlesteel and weapons, as the drive field began to spin up.

General Fleet Signal: General Quarters, Set Condition Red One, under ROE Foxtrot-Alpha

Inside Imperial House, Residence of the Imperial President and Seat of Government, Griffin, Capital of the Federation of Sentient Peoples.

D'ron watched the replay with horror in his eyes, and relief as the GUARDIAN net burned the missiles down.

His eyes burned with fire as he gazed into the comm pickup linking him to Battle Center. "Set Alert Condition Three, ROE Baker."

He turns to an aide as the Battle Center gets to work. "Get me a line the Diplomatic Mesh to EOTED. I need to talk to someone over there before any ordance begins to fly."

An immaterial electronic connection reached out to the Empire as over head, the seried ranks of warships began to get ready to do battle, and the stations began to spin up their drive fields. All the PA defense sats and HA obs sats came fully online, as the the lights flickered, as the primary defense grid began to draw its power requirements. The lights returned to full strength as the secondary and backup reactors began to come online across the nation.

The Federation would be ready to defend itself and its allies.

Sketchian intelligence brief

Top Priority

1523 SST, Five warheads, originating from a TROUSRS "weather" satellite - classified as NBC-AI-Sat-13 - were fired upon the main nation of TROUSRS. Two nuclear warheads successfully detonated in the TROUSRS cities of Staligrad and Vasanova. Casualties are estimated to be near complete destruction of both cities, and level 3 fallout in the surrounding 50km radius.

1531 SST, 18 NBC {actually payload unknown} warheads were fired at the nation of Ma-tek {officially recognized as the EotED}. The Ma-tek missile defense system performed as expected and neutralized the threat. The standard demand and retaliation procedure was carried out by the Ma-tek government.

1555 SST, The TROUSRS government requests that they be given a 48hr dealine to resolve the situation. The Ma-tek government is not expected to accept.

Analysis: The TROUSRS governemnt has obviously suffered a breakdown of sorts. Any actions coming from them can be expected to be unreliable and thus suspect until a clear turnover is seen. The Ma-tek will perform as expected and launch a full scale retaliatory strike against TROUSRS. The possibility of TROUSRS coming up with a satisfactory explanation/solution to the situation is slim to none. Already, several uninvolved nations have begun moving military assests into position.

Conclusion: There will be either 1) a full retaliatory missile strike on TROUSRS by Ma-tek, 2) a full blown invasion of TROUSRS by Ma-tek, or 3) both. Whatever happens, there will inevitable involve a large coalition of forces on either side, fighting for whatever cause they can justify.

Arthur Guilder sat in his desk, far away from earth. The Farstation had only recently arrived, but even so, things were busy. Transmissions of various kinds were constantaly being intercepted by Diom, although 99% were of little concern to Arthur. The traffic above mars was intense.

In a flash the traffic increased tenfold. Diom picked up on the change and instantly analyzed the influx of data.

Sir, it appears that nuclear and biological weapons have been fired on Earth's surface. 2 Missiles hit TROUSRS, the others were shot down as they tried to impact EOTED territory.

Arthur nodded slowly, " It seems the EOTED is always the center of attention, eh Diom?"

It would appear that they do tend to draw quite a bit of attention. More transmissions have been detected concerning EOTED affairs than any other nation.

"Indeed, although you can hardly blame them for taking the spotlight when this sort of thing happens. Prepare a statement for TROUSRS and the EOTED. I wish to send them my condolences."

D`ron waited patiently for his diplomatic code to be recognized as he entered the Imperial Mesh, hopefully not interrupting anything overly important.

There is considerable delay. - After several long moments, however, a voice intones, "Welcome to the Mesh. If you require a member of the EOTED Diplomatic Corps' attention, please state your requirement and the purpose for your use of this system."

D'ron speaks clearly into the pickup. "This is Imperial President D'ron Smith, of the Federation of Sentient Peoples. I need to speak with someone concerning the TROUSRS situation."

An image of Ambassador Dejure ripples into place very quickly indeed. "Mr. President. Would that this were under more pleasant circumstances." Somehow, Dejure gives the impression that there would and could not, in fact, ever be 'pleasant' circumstances.

"I agree, Mr. Ambassdor, but we cannot control everything. My reason for calling is to suggest caution in your approach to this situation. Such a limited strike seems odd, and out of place, to me." D`ron glances down as an aide placed a report on his desk. "While it does appear that TROUSRS is mobilizing troops, I think if they had wanted a war, they would have fired considerbly more missiles. Perhaps this is some sort of horrible misunderstanding, especially as they had two nuclear weapons explode in their own country." He paused for a moment "They might not have meant to fire."

"Indeed. We are of the same mind in this matter, Mr. President. The Empire is quite mystified as to the reasons of the strike. However, we are a democracy. We cannot completely ignore the wishes of our population - especially when they vote with their feet so loudly. Thus we seek balance - we have no desire to cause the deaths of innocents. Six hours is quite a long time, considering the gravity of the situation. And an extension could easily be granted, if requested."

"An extension, yes. But were it me, I might not give them the 48 hours they have asked for."

"Excuse me one moment; I appear to be missing some information." There is a brief pause - Dejure's image freezes in place. D`ron freezes his transmission as well, and chuckles for a second. SigInt was doing well.
Dejure's image unfreezes after a few brief moments, and he wears a neutral expression, as before. Oddly, the image does not alter position as one might expect; the image merely resumes motion from the exact point it froze, perhaps suggesting on-the-fly image editing. "My apologies for the delay...however, I see your point. We will not give them a 48-hour extension. That would merely give them time to fully mobilize, which would be unacceptable in the event of the opening of hostilities. We see no need to give them the advantage, should this be some form of complex plot to draw us into a war. Perhaps a shorter extension, however. Say, four hours, taking it to ten hours."

"I was thinking twelve, myself, seeing as they undoubtably have a mess to deal with in their own country as well. I shudder at the thought that this was not a mistake, though I must admit more dismay, to some extent, of a modern nation allowing a mistake of this magnitude. Twelve hours should allow them to sort whatever mess they have out, or reveal a prelude to war without giving them too much mobilization time."

"I must admit, the information regarding the nuclear detonations on TROUSRS soil has only just filtered down through IDFI. As you can imagine, things were rather... hectic. - However, what we find most difficult to believe is that any nation would even put nuclear weapons into orbit." Dejure shakes his head, and, perhaps in a surprising display of emotion, looks disgusted. " Twelve hours would probably be apt, however. I sincerely doubt that the extra two hours would make much difference to the Council."

D`ron holds back a chuckle at the mention of nuclear weapons in space, having some thousands up there. "I think discussion on that issue probably would be best after the current situation is resolved. I will trust the wisdom of the council in this issue, though. Mostly I am concerned by the tendency of the Empire to completely obliterate nations who have tried such a thing in the past, as I don't think it would be the best course of action."

Dejure nods with understanding. "Fear not. We have no intention of 'obliterating' anyone - the days of knee-jerk reactions are, thankfully, largely behind us. - No. Our intention at this time would merely be to remove the possibility of further misuse of the responsibility that TROUSRS is so clearly incapable of bearing. However... perhaps we could convince them to cease mobilization in favour of allowing them a longer grace period."

"Whatever you do, your decision is up to you. But might I recommend even more restraint, and perhaps careful wording of messages, than is your usual. Especially considering the general international view of the Empire these days. Whatever yo choose to do, you will have our support, though."

"We will, of course, be reacting with considerable restraint. - Under IDF protocols, a retalitory strike via the ICKM launch grid ought to have been immediate - or as close to as possible. We are showing considerable restraint due to the fact that no real damage has been done. If nuclear arms had landed, say, just outside the Empire, at the edge of the Bay of Turath and outside the GUARDIAN grids jurisdiction...." Dejure lets his voice trail off symbolically.

D`ron nods his understanding. "I would feel the same as you, had that occurred. It'd be a race to see whose kinetics hit them first in that case, Ambassador, at least on military targets." He grins wryly. "We can thank the heavens that it did not occur, though."

"Indeed. - May I provide any further information, Mr. President?"

The President of the Federation shakes his head. "No, Ambassador. Thank you for your time, and may the rest of you day be improved over the morning."

"Glad to be of service, Mr. President. And... Mr. President... in the future, if there are any bones of contention as to EOTED policies, please be sure to 'touch base' with us on the matter. Too many relations have been sullied of late due to a lack of willingness to ask for clarification, in my view."

"Of course, Mr. Ambassador. If I have something to say, be rest assured, you will here me say it." D'ron smiles. "Very well, contact us if we can be of any service."

Dejure is well aware that President D`ron initiated the contact, but nontheless he bows his head slightly - deferentially, as is proper in Nenyan culture when bidding farewell to one of greater rank - and says, "Thank-you for your time, Mr. President."

D'ron nods, and cuts the link.

[OOC: Assume that this communique was sent roughly four hours after the six hour timeframe was given for clarification.]

IC:

The Empire will extend the window of oppurtunity for TROUSRS to deliver an explanation for their recent action against us by a further six hours, including the time that has already passed.

In essence: TROUSRS now has eight hours to respond.

However, we may be willing to give a further extension - if all mobilization by TROUSRS ceases immediately.

We are not unreasonable... but neither is our patience infinite. We urge a rapid response.

~ Ambassador Dejure, open communique to TROUSRS

[OOC: As there's been a bit of a break between the demand time, the initial response by TROUSRS, and the EOTED second response time, we'll not run this in real-time, as is the method I prefer to RP in. That would be a tad unfair, methinks. If TROUSRS could possibly attach a 'time' - ie, how long since the initial demand each post can be considered to be - that would be very helpful.]

OOC: /me understands. I'm still slightly unsure where I wanted to go with this RP..

IC:

The minutes ticked by. Those minutes turned to hours, those hours devistating. With only 3 hours left to respond, Mr. Postolski seemed reasonably calm. Maybe it was because he just couldn't swallow what was handed to him. How.. he thought, How could something like this happen to ME? Still conversing in his head: I am being given two options here, no, three. I can 1)Quickly think up a BS reason, 2)Stop troop assemblement and recieve more time. In said time, I may or may not come up with a reason which may or may not convince EOTED to back down or 3)Fail to meet said deadline and have many innocents die at the mercy of the opposing empire..

He needed something better then those insignificant options that he was faced with. He could go to some country like Afganistanley and live in the mountains.. NO. He would not abandon his country, hell, it wasn't even his fault, yet, he is the one pinned with it..

As he sits down at his desk, he pulls up the International Page on his laptop. Using the broken search function, he types "Ma-tek :: GVT :: Head" into the search box and hits "Find".

The return transmission is brief, and very terse:

"The Empire of the Eternal Dawn feels that the TROUSRS response to this situation is utterly unacceptable. If you are 'too busy' to deal with this situation, we must question why you had time to compose your response - which was, according to our analysts, carefully constructed. It also said shockingly little.

"Furthermore, your assertion that you 'do not have time' to deal with the situation is insulting. Your request for a further extension is denied.

The emporer pulls out a black Zippo lighter and lights a vile cigar. "I have 3.5 million infantry soldiers awaiting to mobilize, and defend your country at any risk. They will be using the M101 Plasma rifle, my favorite, and I'm sure yours." He takes a large pull from the cigar before placing it onto the ashtray. "I await your reply, good day, dear friend." Aboard the S.P.S. Capella, Fleet Flag, Battle Fleet, Earth Orbit, Over the South Atlantic, Three Hours to Deadline

Farragut watched the tactical display of TROUSRS. What the hell are they doing? Why are they still mobilizing?

"What do we know about their forces?"

"Well, strategic bombing forces are activated, as well as multiple missiles stations. Ground effect radar shows missiles being readied, and atmospheric disturbance tracks show a huge number of bombers and other aircraft airborne. Way too much ground activity as well."

"Opinions?"

"They're mobilizing for an attack." The rest of the staff nodded in agreement.

"Alright. Begin deploying Longswords between EOTED and TROUSRS."

"How many, sir?"

"12 squadrons atmospheric, 24 in stationary orbit above the atmospheric fighter line."

"Yessir."

Fighters began dropping away from the fleet about thirty minutes later.

144 fighters drew a line in the sky, stationary, drive fields blazing in the atmosphere, not moving.

Twice their number waited overhead. Defense satellites whirled into a stationary position over TROUSRS, drive fields holding them in place.

A communication lanced to TROUSRS from the Federation Fleet.

Stand down all military forces. Your actions are only further provoking the situation. We understand you feel vulnerable at the moment, especially due to the nuclear explosions in your country. If you are attacked by a third, as yet unknown, party in this conflict, you will be defended. If you do not stand down, we will be unable to reach a further state of negociations.

"Whatever we do, we must do what we can to prevent the use of Ickies. Order ships into position to try and shoot them down if they should be launched. I feel that this is all some terrible mistake, and we would be worse off if EOTED fires the Ickie Grid."

"Yes sir."

The recent mobilization in the Empire was no doubt thought to be a display of the rapidity of the IDF.

It was no doubt believed by those who observed that the Empire had moved as fast as it possibly could.

It was further no doubt believed that the mobilization - despite its size - was fairly slow, considering the previous boasts of the Empire as to the efficiency of its armed forces.

As it turns out, anyone who made those three suppositions were correct only on one count: the mobilization was slow.

Now... it isn't. To be true, it isn't a full mobilization this time - and the IDF GF does not move to full alert as before - but to those who are lacking in intel on the capabilities of the IDF, the speed at which they shift 'up a gear' is no doubt nothing short of amazing.

Within just twenty minutes of the passing of the deadline, some two thousand strike aircraft rush into positions in orbit above the Empire; the carriers that had moved out into cislunar space reappear in Earth orbit - now above TROUSRS.

And a single naval Battlegroup, the flagfleet Vanguard Battlegroup, moves out of the Bay of Turath...

...and all fifteen surface assault vessels (fourteen Devastator class cruisers and one Vanguard class air dominance cruiser) restructure their upper decks into very aggressive configurations. Guntubes iris open; MISATs in orbit shift into triangulative positions between the Battlegroup and TROUSRS, prepared to guide kinetic missiles (and perhaps even neutron missiles) down to their targets.

The message from the Empire is, no doubt, fairly clear: this is what a real mobilization would look like; crisp, clean, and efficient.

Four minutes after the IDF Liason Office recieves the 'assigned forces ready' confirmation, a D-notice wings its way from the Executive Council to INN - and all INN coverage of the TROUSRS crisis immediately ceases, except for a confirmation by INN that they are now prohibited from covering the matter until further notice. Democracy or no, EOTED clearly has no intention of allowing any leaks as to the intended methodology or strategy of what surely can only be the 'full-scale retaliation' that they had warned of just half a day ago.

* * *

"The Empire of the Eternal Dawn demands an immediate and unconditional surrender by the Empire of TROUSRS. Anything less than the required surrender will be considered a prelude to further hostilities, and will thusly be considered an act of war against the Empire.

"Explanations are no longer desired, and, if any are given, we will presume that they are little more than fabrications and lies designed to further imbalance the Empire's decision-making process.

"The Empire pledges to keep civilian and military casualties to an absolute minimum, should the need for armed conflict arise.

"Any state or entity attempting to enter into a potential conflict on the side of the Empire of TROUSRS will be subject to an immediate summary declaration of war. Any hostilities by any state in the period required to conclude any potential hostilities with TROUSRS will likewise be considered an act of war. Non-hostile, non-military interference in this matter by any non-EOTED-aligned state or entity will be considered an act of hostility, and although it will not be considered an act of war, the repurcussions will be far-reaching and long-lasting.

"The Empire of the Eternal Dawn will brook no aggression against it, and will act with all due alacricity to bring about the cessation of threats to its civilian population; let this be a symbol to those who would seek to harm our population.

"Despite the tone and clear demanding nature of this statement, the Empire urges TROUSRS to surrender immediately. We pledge to return TROUSRS to autonomy after a thorough investigation by the Empire, and will take all steps necessary to safeguard the safety of the population of TROUSRS in the brief period of occupation necessary to remove any potential future threat against the Empire generated by that state/entity.

"There will be no further offers of surrender or peace following this statement. This is your final oppurtunity for peaceful conclusion to this crisis.

"I urge you to use it wisely."

Aboard the S.P.S. Capella, Fleet Flag, Battle Fleet, Earth Orbit, Over the South Atlantic, 5 Minutes following the TROUSRS Surrender.

Farragut said formally to his flag captain. "Captain, deploy the fleet as previously discussed."

The massive fleet presence began to adjust.

The Fourth Task Force swung out wide, deploying in a screen formation between the Federation and EOTED to it's north.

The first three Task Forces of Battle Fleet swung into low stationary orbit of TROUSRS.

Weapons came online, and missiles clicked home on down both broadsides. Energy weapon capacitors began to charge, for now, just a trickle, reserving as much power as possible if it were needed.

And then....

From the three Anglachel class battle stations in orbit, a total of 1500 fighters spewed forth, and settled into lazy orbits, conserving fuel and readiness.

In the atmosphere, two squadrons of Longswords lanced forward, accelerating easily towards TROUSRS.

Ahead of them came a message. "Any air to air capable aircraft airborne when the incoming squadrons arrive will be destroyed. Do not interfere. They are here for your protection. Fleet Admiral Farragut, FSP, BF, Commanding."

The squadron leaders were less optimistic. "Stay alert boys. If it hits the fan, you know what to do."

Shove it through. The recommendation on using the ATA HVMs. The joke was that the HVMs moved fast enough to make it through fan blades.

Sensor emmissions began to light up the sky.

As a show of trust, the Empire grants permission for Isle de Penguinata to deploy either the 1st or the 2nd Naval Fleet to a defensive position at least thirty miles to the south of the EOTED economic exclusion zone at the edge of the Bay of Turath.

We feel the need to point out that, during the invasion of the Empire by the Imperium, Wretchengard attempted to double-cross the Empire by moving in as a defensive force and then launching anti-ship missiles. The Wretchengard fleet was nigh-on obliterated. We currently consider Penguinata to be trustworthy, but suggest that it would not be wise for anyone to make the same mistake.

We understand your concerns, and accept that there is indeed a certain risk attached to allowing IdP forces to take up defensive positions; especially when their presence is not actually required. However, we recently began the process of improving relations with IdP - or, rather, they with us - and the Executive Council feels that it is imperative that we extend the honour of trust to IdP. <Secret Transmission to UOHN Starfleet>

(Starfleet of 2500 manned and funded by the brave men and women of all 75 UOHN nations)

Attention all 2500 UOHN starfleet ships, you have been very paitent, you have all waited there at the fringe of EOTED star fleet radar for a long time unnoteced. That Alone is a great victory for the UOHN. However it is now time to take out the EOTED starfleet. I am hereby putting out an order for the surprise attack of all EOTED spacefleet ships now. Wherever you are attack the enemy starship that you have been shadowing. This is your order to attack. Good luck.

<End secret transmission>

As the President went off the STV screen in the UOHN ships, all of which had been shadowing the ships of EOTED, launched a surprise attack on the enemy fleets. Each ship first launch PulsePods which temporarily knock out all electricity inside the enemy starships, the UOHN fleet then Starts firing turbolasers, SpaceFlak, torpedos, plasma cannons, rail cannons, De-Materialization ScramTorps (Each of which can decapacite any ship no questions asked) and last, the UOHN ships launch an array of strike fighters to attack enemy ships and defend UOHN starships.

[OOC: K. Nice try, but that just doesn't cut it. You can't just say that you've had ships sitting there; you have to actually post them being there somewhere where I can see them, even if not ICly. OOCly, this is something that ought to have been discussed.

1. There is no way in hell that you can move 2,500 ships into Earth orbit without the MISAT satelite network detecting it.
2. You have included no information on fleet composition, or the specifications of the weapons.
3. 2,500 ships have one hell of an EM signature. It's unavoidable. High-voltage circuits produce highly visible EM fields; EOTED ships and satelites carry EMF detection systems, amongst a plethora of other detection methods. The EOTED IDF SN (Imperial Defense Force Space Navy) is currently at high alert, because we just launched a new flagship, which is set to have its maiden flight very shortly; this means that detection of hostile ships (and your ships were clearly running weapons-hot, as they fired immediately) would be even more rapid than usual.
4. Have you considered that the EOTED ships are sitting above a heavily armed region? Do you even know where they actually are? Because by simply firing at ships in Earth orbit, you're going to take down a great many non-EOTED assets. It would be wise if you drew the EOTED Stellar Battlegroup away from Earth orbit before engaging them; orbital combat is tremendously difficult to carry out at the best of times, and this certainly isn't the best of times. Destruction of foreign property is an act of war, remember. If you carry out this plan, you will destroy neutral foreign property in orbit. Do you wish to declare war against anyone who wishes to claim that you destroyed their satelites/transport ships/freighters?
5. EOTED recently began trading with the ToY again. That means that ToY freight ships - specifically Scolopendran ones - are very likely either inbound to EOTED or outbound from EOTED. Destroying those ships - which are civilian-registered - would likewise easily be considered an act of war. Taking on EOTED and the ToY (assuming they would take it that way) would be very, very unwise. No, correction. It would be stupid. I don't mean that in an insulting manner; I'm saying that the act would be stupid. I am not saying that you are stupid; everyone makes mistakes, after all. This, however, is a howler.
6. Most people would slap an IGNORE on you for these things, largely because you appear to have done absolutely no research on what you're getting yourself into. Nor did you consult me in order to ascertain what your military intelligence boys and girls would know about EOTED ships; such as the fact that engaging an EOTED Battlegroup with a largely missile-based offensive would be extremely foolhardy. But I have a no-IGNORE-unless-absolutely-necessary-policy, so... go back and start again, please, and this time... send telegrams my way if you have any questions. If you make howling mistakes next time that aren't in the 'cheating' area (as stating that your fleet has managed to evade detection by one of the most sophisticated and widely spread sensor networks in existance is), I will not take the time to point them out. I'll simply take advantage of them, and turn your ships to dust. Remember: space combat is very, very unforgiving. Be careful.

Thank-you for complying with this request.]

Tag...Is this still going on? And, more importantly, am I needed?

[OOC: Aye, tis still going on. However, a partial retcon will be taking place, I presume. The fleet that appeared out of nowhere will revert back to wherever the owners want it, and then things will proceed in a slightly different vein. I need to ask TROUSRS some questions, then I'll make a whopping vast IC post with an OOC explanation. I don't know if TROUSRS wants you involved or nay, yon Turtle dude. I suggest you telegram him and ask. :)]

The Princess was sitting at her cherrywood desk in the light of the bright morning. The fiery orange sun was just rising, and gold had stricken everything. The trees swayed nakedly in the wind, awaiting for winter's end.

She looked down upon the gilted paper she was writing on. Her pen was beginning to run low on ink, so she switched to her favorite black one. She then looked down at the paper and pondered how best to write the letter...

Dear Empress Rialla II,

I am most concerned at this current situation. We are dedicated to help you, and I do apologize that our forces had to retreat for a brief time. They were simply needed home in order to attend a very important ceremony.

However, I believe that your nation could use a little help. It is my firm duty to help those that are in need, and the EOTED is looked upon highly by us. We are of course interested in furthering our relationship, but I would rather make sure you don't lose this imminent war first.

I will send back two naval fleets to aid in your protection. If this is not liked by you, perhaps a better force could be sent. Also, please specify where you would like our fleets to go.

With great respect,

Princess Arvanel I

She ordered an aide to send it off. She looked back upon Elandor, the white buildings glimmering in gold. Children began boarding school buses, and the city the size of twenty million was starting its day. She prayed that whatever happened to the fleets on the sea would not happen to the people at home.
