The year is 2095. The second Cold War, fought with China and a revitalized Russia slowly increased tensions with the United States of America and its allies. No one remebers who fired the first nuke, but it doesn't matter now. Billions died, their souls blending with the background radiation that blanketed the earth, which is now a devastated shell of a planet, nearly wiped clean of life. A few people survived, taking refuge in massive, underground 'vaults'. Many years have passed since the shortest war in history ended, and much of the radiation has receded back to safe levels. You are a 'vault dweller', a second-generation survivor of the nuclear holocaust from so long ago. The people are curious as to what this new world holds for them. We drew straws, you drew the short one....

OOC: The backstory done with, here's the plot. Each character is from a different shelter, or 'vault', with a number, example: 'Vault 17'. Your character starts out outside the vault, equipped with a jumpsuit, a Glock 17 (9mm), a hunting knife, three spare clips, and basic medical supplies. There are some small towns cobbled together from scrap across the desert landscape, inhabited by other survivors, but your character doesn't know this. The vaults are situated in the mountanious American midwest, and the major cities are in complete ruins. There is NOfutureistic tech in this RP, only modern-day stuff, since the war occoured around this time, and was caused in part by rising tensions in the middle east with America's 'War on Terror', hence the name of the RP. This is not a gathering place for Bush-haters, I merely needed a premace for the RP to make it believeable. This is not to be discussed during the RP, as I hate political talk with a passion.
