Slavery, Imperialism, what next?

Most, if not all Western nations, have had some wrongdoing in their past. For instance, Spain had the Spanish Inquisition, England had imperialism and America had slavery. I'd like to have one as well, since I don't want to be one of those super-perfect nations that have no social problems whatsoever, but I'd also like something unique. Any suggesstions?

OOC: You could try exterminating minorities, like Germany, or possibly use "Clockwork Orange" conditioning to turn them into brainwashed slaves.
Or you could try going horribly, horribly chauvinist and opressing women... or men for that matter.
OOC: Turn into an Imperial Communist Dictatorship like I did, then start killing off religion, that always works.

These are all good, but the only feasible one so far is the minority exterminating one (slapping barcodes on people is beyonf 1950s technology, which is what my nation runs on for the most part, and I can't become a dictatorship because I've already established myself as a republic fighting for democratic principles). Maybe I'll be able to make up some native group and go for that (like the Amerindiands or the aborigines)

Hmm ... If you're a 1950's-era nation, the opressed minorities might be the best bet, yeah. There's Apartheid in South Africa, Segregationism in America, the Lost Generation in Australia...
