Military Fleet parade! (now closed-RP)
The newly completed Sakkran Orbital Dock in Titan orbit was abuzz with activity. Technicians making certain the environmental controls remained online, pilots making sure their fighters were clamped down and secure.
Admiral Shaar was going through her itinerary for the day. The Docks had almost a full compliment of defensive craft; patrols made their scheduled rounds. Even the new Pakayg living ships were on their way for a crew to be assigned to them.
But as well as things were running, there was a sense of chaos to it all. There are no cohesive battle-groups formed. The ships in the Void are all in small clusters and spread thinly. If we were attacked, it would be at least a full standard day before reinforcements would arrive. This will not do. The assigning of cohesive groups and their purposes must be made.
And inspected! This can be a diplomatic event, a military inspection and a parade ceremony in one shot. Efficient! With that, Shaar gave her aide a message to be conveyed to all nations on general channels.

<<Imperial Sakkran Stellar Navy>>
Greetings,
In four standard days a ceremonial Military Parade will take place. The area will be at coordinates [xyz] just past the Great Asteroid Belt aboard the flagship Komodo. The entirety of the Imperial Stellar Navy will be inspected by myself and General Gaarm, and any dignitaries that deem themselves available to come. Our defense grid will be operable, and patrol craft will be on hand, so your safety is assured. Accomodations and libations will be present, and transportation arrangements can be handled by my offices. R.S.V.P. your intent, whether to attend or otherwise, and space will be reserved for you and a guest.
May you walk on warm sands.

We'd love to send some Scolopendran Military Services and hopefully some Triumvirate of Yut Combined Services envoys to attend. Also--as I believe PseudoEmperor Razak was about to suggest--is this a Imperial Sakkran Stellar Navy-only event or is it open to allies as well? As it was said in a rather good movie once, "when you got it, baby, flaunt it."

To the honorable Admiral Shaar, greetings and well met!
We would very much be interested in attending this parade - always good to see what our esteemed allies have come up with. Please expect myself and several Dominion officers at the very least. We look forward to enjoying your most gracious hospitality.

Slagkattunger: As stated above, transportation will be provided for those incapable of reaching the location under their own power. You have clearance at the Eeorouh Spaceport launch facility. A shuttle awaits you there.
Scolo: Allies are also encouraged to 'flex their muscle'. It can be a display based on ship-class. For instance, corvettes followed by destroyers etc... See if your officers would be willing to have a sit-down meeting to discuss possible arrangements with ours, yes?
Chaloner: Our spacecraft are not for sale. This is a display and exhibition of our fleets, and a naming ceremony as well. Welcome to the Void!
Nathi: Admiral Talethian, we are prepared for the arrival of you and your delegation, and hope for a great period of cooperation. If you wish, you could also come 'flex your muscles' as well.

OOC:SB, it's actually because that post was going to create an inter-solar incedent. Right now Shaar is on the Titan Orbital Dock. A big ol' fleet *pops* in unannounced. Whaddaya think is gonna happen? That would be a thread hijacking turning a nice ceremonial event into a full-scale firefight.
Proper decorum states that getting clearance before making a fleet appearance would be in order. Just my two bits, though.

Scolopendran Foot-to-Ass Advisor Lance Hawke glowers, standing in the command room of the Triumvirate of Yut WarShip System Defense Fortress O'Neil.
Then again, he isn't noted for emoting any other particular way.
The command center of the massive superbattleship belies its bulk, looking no different from any other Scolopendran-designed command deck of anything from a frigate up. Form follows function, after all, and the essential bridge crew for a superbattleship is roughly the same as for a frigate. The design changes come in the millions of tons of armor plate, weapons, hangar bays, and auxiliary systems that make up the difference between the two ship classes.
Still, Hawke feels slightly extraneous as he sits in a spare seat in the corner of the command deck. The Trium officers, all spit-and-polish, run the show; he's merely another passenger, quietly watching the smoothly humming machine.
Maybe that's the reason why Hawke, lately a lieutenant general of the Scolopendran Aerospace Directorate of the SMS, seems so chipper. It's rather interesting watching one in an element that he knows so well yet knows is no longer an intrinsic part of. Some get distant, some get misty.
Some simply glower.
"Fifth Combined is in position for transit, sir," Fleet Admiral Alijse Broeckaert, commanding officer of O'Neill, says with a slight Flemish accent as she salutes crisply to the one she addresses: Sky Marshal Ho'elun Dashyondon, commander of the Fifth Triumvirate Combined Fleet. The salute is an extraneous gesture, just an indicator of the atmosphere of the event.
Probably just showing off for the old man, Hawke mutters in his mind.
"Understood, Admiral." Ho'elun returns the salute, rows of broad white teeth smiling from his strong Mongolian features. "FleetCom, prepare for transit jump on my mark to predetermined coordinates. Maintain formation." He nods, sitting down at his strategic command console. "You know what to do, Admiral."
"Yes, sir." Broeckaert turns around, stepping to her own console and pressing down the public-address switch. "All hands prepare for tesseract jump." She releases the button, then sits down. "FlightCom, have a shuttle stand by to take Advisor Hawke to the meeting. Comms, stand by for a message to Admiral Shaar when we jump."
Two officers turn as their station is called and announce "Acknowledged" as they receive their orders, immediately turning back to their controls.
"All sections have reported in, ma'am; the Fifth is ready for jump."
Smiling, Broeckaert looks over her shoulder to the Sky Marshal. "At your word, sir."
Dashyondon nods, settling his green officer's cap over his short black hair. "Jump."
All a damned act is all Hawke can get through his mind before the drives deep within the Triumvirate capital ships bend upper-dimensional space to their whim.

Admiral Shaar was receiving many reports from the various scattered fleets in the Imperial Sakkran Stellar Navy, all located in various parts of the solar system. What a headache this is becoming. We're spread quite thin.
She was sending replies to the various fleet commanders, when she got the message from the Scolopendran Sky Marshal. Ah, good. It will be welcome assistance. After telling Battlegroup Sseel the time to arrive at the appropriate coordinates, she sent out a reply.

"Acknowledged, sir." Broeckaert nods, stretching slightly in her seat. "I'll take care of it."
The Sky Marshal escorted the Advisor down the corridors to one of the hangar bays, smiling broadly and attempting mild conversation, looking over occasionally at Lance. "I've always enjoyed working with the Sakkra. You, sir?"
"Hrrmph." Hawke shrugs slightly, keeping his gaze fixed ahead of him. "They're all right."
Dashyondon blinks and purses his lips slightly. "What do you think about the entire 'pass in review,' anyway? Good way to show off the technology, I think."
"We'll see."
The Sky Marshal sighs. "You aren't much of a conversationalist, eh, sir?"
Lance nods. "No. I'm not."
Ho'elun shrugs and passes the rest of the time, from boarding the Scarab-class shuttle to sitting quietly in transit, in silence.

Sky Marshal Dashyondon, I believe we have the patrol well in hand. the Boa-class War Carrier Shuund is acting as command center with two Drakk class cruisers and 6 Caiman class corvettes. But assistance would indeed be welcomed, as it makes for less for me to have to micro-manage. Coordinate with Commander Ssrarm aboard the Shuund if you will.

After sending the communique, Shaar left her office to perform an inspection before the dignitaries arrived. Sometimes a bit of slaggishness on part of the construction crews would have to worked out in an 'efficient' manner. The spartan interior of the Orbital Docks was nothing like the Orbital Shipyards. It was easily apparent that this was a military installation from the 'function before form' design aspect within.
Her Honor Guard snapped to alertness as she left the office, and lock-stepped two paces behind her. Her eyes scanned everything she saw from top to bottom. On occasion, she would spot deck plating that was a bit loose, and would make certain it was fastened down correctly.
The docks and hangar bays were always her utmost concern, and she took this time to make sure procedure was followed to the letter for long-range fighter patrols entering and exiting. There would be no sloppiness on her watch.
She commed her aide. "Keesh, make certain that the Komodo is prepared to take on dignitaries. And make certain the patrols have their assigned routes confirmed. I will not be embarrassed on this occasion. You know what needs to be done."
"Yes, Admiral. At once."

The interior of the Komodo is a deep green and black tone, with no sharp angles to be seen. Where the group leaves their shuttle is an ovoid docking bay teeming with crews securing long range fighters and performing maintanence. The commander of the Komodo, a slim and wiry Sakkran with light grey and blue scaling, greets the party.
"Greetings Advisor Hawke; Sky Marshal Dashyondon. I am Commander Kkeer. We have quarters arranged for you near the Observation Deck in level 8. Sky Marshal Dashyondon bows shortly with a smile; Advisor Hawke does neither. Looking first to the newly-retired civilian for direction--and receiving none--Ho'elun sighs internally and smiles broadly up at the Sakkra. "Commander Ssrarm." Thank goodness that got relayed to us in the shuttle. "It's always good to get a feel for a friend's ship." He looks around, appraising the organic curves--a far cry from the utilitarianism of O'Neill or any other TYCS ship--with a nod.
"She's not like anything else I've seen, and I know I'd like a tour. As for the Advisor..." He turns to Hawke with a subtle come or don't, I couldn't care less look.

At the arcology
As the group enters the french-style sliding doors, the humidity level is noticably greater. Pools of water let off slight wisps of steam as mangrove-like trees extend their visible roots along the water's edge. Vine-like plants stretch along the tips of the trees, forming a sort of canopy while buzzing insects flit about pollinating the blooms. It smells lightly of magnolia.
The Commander plucks a pair yellowish-orange fruits from on of the mangrove-like trees, and runs a claw along the skin. He then presents them to the Sky Marshal and Advisor Hawke, The skin is tough and fiberous, visible at the slit made. The meat inside is dense, but fragrant, with clusters of black seeds at the center.
"My hatchlings planted this tree in particular. 2 serve as ensign on this ship, graduating from the Naval Academy with high marks. They do their family proud." Several Keepers in green jumpsuits continuously monitor the arcology, carrying datapads with them and taking samples from the water, soil and air.

It is a quantifiable fact that good food, given freely, is one of the quickest ways to endear oneself to a trooper. This is oddly universal; from the first Neanderthal that picked up a club because Grog told him to, through the lamellor-plated mudfoot of Caesar, all the way to the modern assault-armored tin-can M.I., free palatables almost always bring something just short of tears of adjulant joy.
This is such a universal that even Advisor Hawke, in the mid-swing of forced-retirement blues, lightens up a bit as the two humans partake of the fruit. Ho'elun nods appreciatively like some sort of fruit conneisseur, ending up with a broad grin and a verbal declaration of a rating of "Excellent;" Advisor Hawke actually smiles and nods shortly in thanks.
"Most excellent, Commander." Dashyondon can't stop grinning. "So, a relatively self-sustaining arcology. Wonderful. I suppose this would be a natural advantage to the organic ships you've been designing as of late?"

"Yes, the organic technologies have proven to have a great many benefits. All useful data was transmitted to the Eeorouh Comm Facility as soon as they were deemed feasible. The hulls of all Stellar Navy ships were refitted with vat-grown Cellulo-Chitin armor, with liquid resin layering underneath. Self-repairing provided raw materials are available. A great boon to us, as it decreases maintanence costs by 12% annually. All our technicians had to take crash courses in maintaining this new technology, of course. Some are quite hesitant about it, but that will pass i'm certain. WHen the Cellulo-Chitin compund is grown to a certain degree, it is attached to the hull framework. It then grows and coats the entire craft. Technicians have to guid it in its growth, however."
Walking deeper into the arcology, they come to a sealed dome-shaped room. Entering the room, a webwork of monitoring equipment is seen. IR readers, spectrometers, thermal measuring equipment etc. "Another boon is being able to decode the electro-chemical 'language' of the Kansee Vine, which forms the canopy of the arcology. It grows, spreads and attaches itself to everything in the ship. With the aid of the Snel's Crana-Web to boost it's abilities, we know where there is a problem almost instantaneously. Hull-breaches, environmental anomolies, anything. It all gets routed back to the Vine Hub, which this monitoring room is built inside of."

Maintanence crews move swiftly, ensuring the mag-clamps are fastened to the shuttle, and then parked away from the landing area.

"It seems the arcology, observation decks, pilot sim training areas and recreation center are available. Other areas are currently completing maintanence, and will not be available for a few hours."
She turns from the display to the Senator. "Later today, the Rear Admiral will be holding a dinner with Admiral Shaar and General Gaarm in attendance. All guests are invited to attend. Shall I confirm for you, or will you be seeking rest in your quarters at that time?"

As the group walks to a lift, one could note that everything is smooth with very few sharp angles. Earth-tones are the dominant color scheme, with soft yellowish light being emitted from sconces in the walls. Even the lift tube, when it arrives, looks more like a pod structure than an elevator.
As the doors of the tube open, a pair of 2' long beetles hover out over the heads of a pair of officers, emitting a soft light from their abdomens. The ensign snaps them a salute, left hand splayed over chest, and the officers do likewise.
When the group boards the elevator, it descends. Ensign Ssoorat asks if there are any questions anyone wishes to ask.
OOC: Everything is locked in after tomorrow night. Still time to get in folks!

Senator Orion and the guards couldn't help but aww in wonder. Everything was so alien. Not many atlantians or Centaurs had been on many other races ships, even a Terren ship, although those supposedly lacked beauty.
"Much nicer place then the Demon ship we stormed a few days ago" said on guard to another. The other one smirked. "Oh come on, you didn't like the depths of hell?"
When Ensign Ssoorat asked the question, everyone shook their heads. There where no questions.
The Ensign nodded her head. "Very well. Here is our level." The doors opened, and when one steps out, the light seems slightly dimmer here. A gew turns through the tubular-shaped halls bring them to some large double doors, with a few pilots lounging outside of them. At the notice of the Ensign, they stand and salute while one opens the doors..
Entering through the double doors, a vast webwork of circuitry is evident, as well as several dozen sim chambers in use. Shouts of "On your six!" "Got the bugger!' and of course "EAT IT!!" can be heard throughout the area. The chambers themselves are not boxed-in rooms, but chairs set on gyroscopic mounts with sim equipment attached.
Ensign Ssoorat turns to the group. "These devices are used to keep our fighter pilots sharp. They hone skills in formation flying, wingman-ship and capitol-ship assault as well as dog-fighting and use of environment in combat. The AI is garnered from experiences in past battles and tactics used by a plethora of other nations gained from intel."

Orion nodded. "Not bad" he thought. "Maybe we should reserch into AI and Vurtual Reality"
"VR certainly has its benefits, but nothing compares to real experience. The AI isn't meant to be particularly creative here. What it does is gather info on pilot's responses to the sim, and then uses it in live exercises. Keeps them on their toes."
"The info is then uplinked into remote drones outfitted into our old Anole short-range fighters. The drones are controlled by the AI, which uses the info gained from here, against the pilots. Keeps them from thinking they can rely on set tactics and tried-and-true strategy. If you like, we can set up a chamber for you to be passive observers of what is going on."

CVC Saratoga, Cetagandan First Fleet
11,000 km from the Ring
Saturn, Sol System
Lying in command couch in the main CIC of the carrier Saratoga, Lady Martial Signy Mallory watched as the officers of the First fleet prepared to make the jump to the parade site. She was satisfied with what she saw, namely the clean efficiency at which the crews worked in fleet C-space. While all ships still had manual controls, it was now the norm for operations to be conducted almost entirely through implants. She smiled, thinking of how simplified things were compared to when she had lead her own fleets in battle.
<<All ships, this is the flag. Prepare to make jump to target coordinate, all ships to alert condition two. Repeat, prepare to jump.>>
On the virtual flag deck, the fleet's commander, Fleet Admiral Fuyutski Akane turned to her. "Would you like to give the order, my lady?"
"No, Admiral," Mallory replies. "I'm just an old lady along for the ride. Give the order at your own discretion. "
Fleet Admiral Fuyutski nodded, and turned back to face the rest of the deck. "All ships, initiate displacement by squadron - now!"
Moments later, ships began disappearing in groups of ten to fifteen, until all had left Saturn.

A few moments later, the forty-three ships appear near the parade grounds. Their IFF beacons blare Triumvirate identifiers and the ships conduct a scan of the area, while fighter and LAC squadrons launch from carriers and light warships detach from an accompaning military Jumpship. Findinging nothing amiss, the ships stand down their main weapons and transmit a message to the Sakkrans.

o Sakkran Local Command
Greetings. This is the Cetagandan First Fleet, here to participate in the parade. We're carring Lady Martial Signy Mallory aboard, and request permission to dispatch a pinnance to transport her to the appropriate location. Be advised that several more ships will be arriving, primarily non-combat vessels that are not part of this fleet.
"Greetings First Fleet. You have clearance to dock at berth 2 aboard the Komodo. Uplinking landing protocols and approach vectors to you. Welcome aboard. A liaison will greet you on your arrival."
Among such big and impressive ships, the one that have just drop out of warp, outside Trium interdictors was to laugh at. And even without those ships around, the appearence was still to laugh at, since it was... well, obsolete. Basically, it was a ring, connected to a central part. Scanners could show that the ring had a double role, warp field generator and shield around the central part.
Mid-sized, probable with a cargobay and a lander.
No wepon insight, but it definatelly had a comunication system.

We recently gained our independence, and, as you could see, we are doing very well. We would like to attend to this litle reunion. We know that you don't like uninvited guests, but our long range comunicator was broken. Requesting permission to approach and dock.

"This is the I.S.S.N. Tuuga to Scolopendran destroyer group. We have you on our scanners and have been apprised of your presence. There have been odd sensor signatures coming from the Great Asteroid Belt, and we would appreciate your remaining until we have completed our job here. Copy?"
A dark-skinned man standing in the command room of one of the blocky destroyers pulls down his broad fabric belt slightly, nodding to his communications officer. "Tuuga, this is Commander Abu-al-Abbas of Midwinter Bloodfeast. We've no problem with staying here; if you would kindly hack your sensor signals to telemetry, we'll do our best to stay appraised with the situation. I'll call up to the rest of the TYCS in the area and tell them to keep eyes wide.
"Midwinter Bloodfeast standing by." He chops under his chin with one hand, and the comm officer flicks the transit switch off with an audible click. "Get Barriana on the line." The switch clicks again, and the image of a dark-brown face with sculpted Elven features and covered in intricate tattoos; yet another product of extraction operations.
"Bloodfeast, Commander Barriana of Divine Spite. What's your read, Abu?"
The Arab shrugs to the image of the Drow. "Your guess is as good as mine, Olor. I guess we just stay on station and run the sensors."
"Did you request a sensors hack?"
"Yep. I'm going to keep this channel open just so we don't have to keep calling back and forth... work for you?"
Barriana shrugs. "Works for me."
The Grand Republic of Imperium II wishes to send Prince William of Jutland to visit your newest creation. Our only issue is the question of universal docking ports, does your station posses them? If not Prince William will need to be provided transportation.

OOC: Several problems here. First, there seems to be dialogue. Just who is talking with who?
Second, the orbital dock is in Trium space, known for being ultra secure, and has interdiction capabilities against FTL, jump-gate and even *shudder* space-fold engines.
Unannounced visitations that *pop* up tend to get shot at. Lots. Perhaps a post edit?
IC: "Midwinter Bloodfeast, we are giving you the sensor hack now. We should be done here in about 30 after the defense drones are programmed."
The three Terrapins release their cargo; 12 Brilliant Pebbles Missile Defense Drones. As the drones are positioned by the Terrapin's waldo arms.
Several EVA suits can be seen around the twelve 23 meter long missile defense drones. Programming of observation and activation protocols is a touchy process, and one not done in a hurry.
After a time, their work is complete, and the EVA suits return to their crafts. The drones, in the meantime, begin to shift their plating coloration to a matte black.
"Midwinter Bloodfeast, we're all set here. The Komodo is feeding the drones hull specs and insignias to watch for. Heading back!"

We have received your message, and are prepared to receive Prince William and his entourage. As for universal docking ports, we possess two of them, capable of holding a cruiser-sized craft. There are also exterior docking bays for larger-scale ships, so docking should be a non-issue. We await your arrival.

Those darn Titans! In the good old days, it was enough to say this is The Ship X, belonging to Y, I want this. They invited nations to attend, not persons! And beside, there are tons of ships around, who are they afraid of?
The man at the controls was tired. This was the ship's mayden voyage. The colony had cargoships, of course, but this was the official starship of the President. And he was the president!
Great president!, he thought.

OOC: Still time to get in. Locking it up in the morning.
Yes, they let me in! The president was happy. If he would be rejected, then all that independence war would be for nothing, since the "big players" won't talk to little fish.
Then again, "Big Players" had their own mining satelites, so other nation's "asteroid war" was of small importance to then.
Enough talking! Approach vector computed, and engine started.
Trak1 begun its approach.
OOC: This thread is now closed unless i'm given a compelling reason for late entrys.

IC: The aide to Admiral Shaar entered her office. He snapped a salute, and then held aloft a datapad, and began reading from it.
"Admiral, all is in readiness. Defense grid is now online and operational at 98%. General Gaarm is enroute to the Komodo and is expected within the hour. Dignitaries are either at the flagship, are enroute or will be joining you on your cruiser. 51% of the active Defense Forces are at the rendezvous area, with an additional 24% enroute. ETA is 3 standard hours. An additional 15% is running patrol in tandem with the defense grid, and 10% are in reserve on standby status." He lowers the datapad.
"Excellent, Ensign Kkoroo. I will be leaving now. Have my cruiser perform its final checks before departure, and inform any dignitaries on board of our departure."
"At once, Sirrah!" Another snappy salute is made, and the Ensign trots off.
The Trak vessel manages to make a safe landing, and as the President begins to emerge, he is informed of the developments. All other dignitaries at the Orbital Docks are sent a message requesting them to join the Admiral at her personal cruiser, docked in Berth 8.

Titan Orbital Dock
*Now approaching Berth Eight, my lady. ETA two minute.*
"Thank you, lieutenant." Signy Mallory watched with interest as the pinnance approached the docked Sakkran cruiser. It was certainly a unique design. It didn't have the rather utilitarian lines of most Cetagandan or Scolopendran vessels, but was much simpler than the (wasteful) oppulence and artistic beauty of an elven gravship. Seeing the numerous curves and skin-like exterior, Mallory made a note to herself to inquire if the ship incorporated biotechnology.
Upon docking, Mallory exited the pinnance along with a fleet officer, and said to the greeting party, "Good afternoon, gentlebeings. Lady Signy Mallory, of Cetaganda. My aide, Major William Thompson of the Frontier Fleet, who will help coordinate our part of the parade. Its a pleasure to be here."
An Ensign is on hand greeting the dignitaries as they enter Admiral Shaar's cruiser. He walks over to Lady Mallory and Major thompson, and snaps a salute, left hand splayed over the chest. "Greetings Lady Mallory and Major thompson. I am Ensign Jhoout, liaison for the Admiral. If you have any requests, or questions, I will answer as best as I can."
"The Primal Order is nearly ready to depart." He turns to indicate the cruiser with a wave of his clawed hand. "Perhaps we should get you situated?"

"That would be excellent, Ensign." The pair of Cetagandans follow Ensign Jhoot to the boarding tube, and as they walk, Mallory asks, "Tell me, is it true that your vessels use organic technology? I'd heard that was the case, and they certainly look like they fit that information."
The Ensign confirms Lady Mallory's and Major Thompson accomodations on the Komodo, and escorts them in the boarding tube.
"Why, yes. We had begun experiments in creating a fully organic craft several years ago, and made some fascinating breakthroughs. The time it would take for the craft to become fully functional was astounding, though. Too long for the project to be of real benefit. But aspects of the research allowed us to create organic hull plating, communications arrays, internal sensors and a number of things."
As the group steps in, the interior looks equally organic. Translucent walls along the corridors give off a soft sienna glow while wall sconces looking like alien seed pods supply the remainder of needed light. Several crewmen climb into large pod-structures, which seal themselves up afterwards. Those are now how we run the ship. Direct neural shunt communications without requiring 'chroming' as some peoples like to put it."

OOC: just to let you know that I am still here. I'm just letting you RP more important things then a tour
I was in a mine for two years and look what I found when I came back: living ships!
Radu was in a good mood. Surprisingly for some of those at the docking bay, Trak1 had no problem docking. The ensign acted impecably, treating Radu as a president, despite the "MineForce One" he arrived in.
Next time I'll wash it!
OOC: Gotcha AO.
IC: Inside the series of neuro-shunt pods that act as in-ship controls and communications, a flurry of activity is taking place at the speed of thought. The Comm Officer is the only member able to communicate outside the ship. Once all dignitaries got on board, the pre-launch process begins.
"Dock control, this is Primal Order requesting clearance. All pre-launch checks are complete; we have the green."
"Primal Order, you are cleared. Reslease mag-clamps and accelerate to 1/20th power."
"Copy. On it."
The Primal Order activates the fusion-engines and crawls slowly out of the berth. After it gets 1 kilometer of distance, the engines accelerate to 1/3 power, propelling it forward at 1.5g. The passengers have all been secured in their gel-form inertia chairs, but it feels slightly like a tame roller-coaster just made its drop.
Admiral Emily Sanchez of the Empire of Treznor settles back in her seat and smiles at her fellow observer, Vice-Admiral David Inchon, also of the Empire of Treznor. "Long way away from the water, aren't we David?"
"Too right, Admiral," Inchon grumbles as he fusses with his chair harness. "What I wouldn't give to be back on the decks of the Endeavour instead of having my ass strapped to a rocket and shot into space."
Sanchez gives him a mischievous grin. "I think these folk are a little more sophisticated than that, David. And stop calling me 'Admiral.' You've been living in rarified air for over a year now. You can call me 'Emily' and get away with it."
Inchon grunts in response. Sanchez pats his hand sympathetically. "It'll be all right, I promise. Hardly anyone dies in these things anymore."
"Hardly, you say."
"Poor David. You're just not cut out for space travel, are you?"
"Twenty years as a Navy man and never a day seasick. Five minutes out here and it's like the Universe is taking revenge for all those days out at sea."

"Ah, a fusion drive," comments Mallory. "Been a long time since I've felt one of those."
"I wonder why they don't use a gravitic system like we do," asks Thompson beside her. "I'm sure the Scolos or us would have helped design them if they wanted to."
Mallory snorted. "Gravy drives don't make a warship, Major. I seem to remember fighting a war with thrusters that were only gravity-enhance fusion motors, not the full system of today's ship. Fusion has its advantages. And never forget the Kzinti Lesson: 'A reaction drive's destructiveness as a weapon is directly proportional to its effectiveness as a method of propulsion.'"
The Ensign pipes up. "Actually it's because of the time-honored tenet of "If it isn't broke, don't fix it. Fusion power has held us in good stead for some time, and is fairly easy to maintain."
The Primal Order continues along at a good pace for a time before beginning slow-down procedures. It appears the parade grounds and the Komodo are drawing near.

OOC: I'm assuming you have windows in your rooms
IC: Orion stood in his quorters, waiting for the Parade, and looking out at the stars. He saw the Pleiades Cluster off along with all of the other stars.
"It looks so small from here" he thought.
OOC: Yah, all rooms have windows. More like portholes, really. Except for rooms vital to ship operation. Those are deep within the ship.
IC: The Primal Order begins maneuvers to match speeds with the Komodo for docking. As mag-clamps attach and hold the cruiser in place, an umbilicus extends and attaches to the access hatch. After a short time, a general announcement is made.
"Ship secure. All parties may now exit."
In the meantime, General Gaarms battleship End Result begins braking maneuvers. The flexible solar sails furl up into their masts, and the masts then fold back against the hull of the ship. Reverse thrusters pulse to decelerate.
The impressive figure of General Gaarm is in one of the neuro-shunt pods, in an organic version of C-space. They have yet to designate an appropriate name to it officially, but he refers to it as the Spirit Node.
His mind is in tune with the ship, and he hears the chatter of crew-men at their tasks. With a concentrate dthought, he gives his orders at the speed of thought. "Comms Officer, contact the Komodo and inform them of our status and ETA. Also that the remainder of the fleet scheduled for the ceremony have rendesvoused with us, and are accompanying."
"On it, Sir."
Filtering out the background sounds of crewmen relaying info to each other, he listens to the sound of space against the hull. A side-benefit of this manner of connection is the ability to see what the ship sees through its sensors, and feel what it feels. One could also assume this to be a drawback at times.
This is soooo relaxing. Ah, to be able to fly through space like this..... It's so serene. I could take vacations like this. He snaps out of his reverie when the helmsman demands his attention in a gentle mental prod.
"Komodo in visual range, Sir."
"Thank you helmsman."
Gaarm switches his area of focus to the sensors at the fore of the ship, and the Komodo is indeed in view, as well as the Primal Order which is docked with her.
As the End result docks with the Komodo, a slight <<bump>> can be felt.
General Gaarm disembarks from his craft, which then departs to get in its position for review. Admiral Shaar does the same from her cruiser. A cadre of Horde troopers greet them with swift salutes; upraised weaponry over the chest held in one hand. The general PA announces their Arrival. "All hands! Command staff is on board!"
Gaarm takes the measure of Admiral Shaar, and she does much the same.
"General."
"Admiral."
They salute each other, and turn to face their destination; the lift tube heading for the Observation Deck.
A somewhat late arrival, two Khenalian vessels come into range of the Komodo. One is a small cruiser, an adept person would identify it as the personal cruiser of the Prime Minister of Khenala. The other vessel was much, much larger, spanning a great swath of space.
After a quick docking procedure, the Avatar of Justice slides gracefully into the Berth designated for it, while the large Capital Vessel continued hanging back. Prime Minister Seal exits his cruiser, heading for the area designated for him, hoping his late arrival did not offend too many.
(OOC: Just a post to get me in place. :) ))
OOC: If there are any other late arrivals, let's assume that you have made it on time and are already on board the Komodo.
IC: General Gaarm and Admiral Shaar arrive at the Observation Deck, which has a small command console built in, as well as lounge areas, beverages and numerous amenities.
"Senior staff on deck!' shouts an Honor Guard. The assembled guards and soldiers salute snappily. General Gaarm surveys the scene before him. Standing at a strapping 8'6", he easily sees all around him. Admiral Shaar is a more diminutive 7'8", but is still able to survey the area quite well.
After a brief moment, the General says "Be at ease." The guards and soldiers relinquish their 'attention' stances, and drop their salutes. They walk about the observation deck to see who has arrived.

Aide in tow, Lady Mallor arrives on the observation deck just after the two Sakkran flag officers. As she enters, she spies the two, and makes her way over after dispatching her minion to find a drink.
"Admiral Shaar, General Gaarm, it is an honor to meet you." She salutes them Sakkran-style (or at least as close as a human can get), then follows with a slight bow. "Lady Signy Mallory, head of the Cetaganda military. I want to thank you for organizing this event. I've always found it a pleasure to watch a parade, especially one where I can see the fine forces of my allies."
General Gaarm and Admiral Shaar both salute Lady Mallory, and then give a slight bow. general Gaarm offers his massive hand. His voice is one of tectonic plates grinding together.
"Lady Mallory, it is a pleasure to receive you and your guests. Admiral Shaar and I felt it was high time this happened. Just because we have moved the majority of our forces into space, does not permit us to ignore tradition."
Admiral Shaar, in the meantime, looks out the Observation Window where the parade will pass in front of. Tapping something on the side of her head, she begins speaking to the air in a whisper. "Group 7, your form is sloppy. Ammend it. I want to see almost no negative space between wings. Warcarrier 5, you're listing a touch in your maneuvers. Get on that."
Emily Sanchez steps forward to meet their hosts. "Admirals, I'm sorry we didn't have a chance to meet properly before. I'm Admiral Emily Sanchez, and this is Admiral David Inchon of the Treznor Imperial Navy. We're very much looking forward to this display. Where would you recommend for the best place to see the show?"
Admiral Shaar takes a moment from doing last-minute checks on the ships, and greets the Treznorian Admiarls. "Admiral Sanchez; Admiral Inchon." A snappy salute is made. "Port-side is the best vantage point, as that is where the pass-in-review will be."
OOC: A bit about the Observation deck:
A bi-level structure, it is ovoid in shape. About 20 meters long by 15 meters wide and 10 meters high. A deep crimson color interspersed with black smudging serves as the coloration here, much as in the rest of the ship. The second level is about 9 meters long, and is positioned 4 meters from the lower level.
Large armored glass windows run through the whole lower level, 3 meters high and almost a full meter thick, yet the view is able to be seen undistorted. Several sets of tables, and lounging chairs are located on both levels. Resin Beetles in the area supply a low ambient light supplemented by wall sconces of a translucent nature.
Light beverages and appetizers are served, and waitstaff in the form of Imperial Cadets make the rounds.

Recently arrived aboard the Dominion ship the Michaelangelo, Devon Talethian and his assembled officers made their way to the observation deck to meet their hosts.
Upon arrival, Talethian took the lead.
"Scuse," he said, the group of them offering up sharp salutes. "It is an honor to be allowed to observe this fine military parade that you have assembled, General Gaarm, Admiral Shaar. Admiral Devon Talethian, Dominion Minister of Defense. This is Maresciallo Serafina Alighieri, commander of our space fleet, and Captains Giuseppe Cavalleri of the da Vinci, and Pietro Malatesta of the Raphael." As each was introduced, they made curt but polite shallow bows to those assembled.
"We thank you again for your most gracious invitation, and look forward to seeing what our allies have come up with of late."
Turning to their Treznor allies, Talethian nodded and smiled. "Admiral Sanchez, Admiral Inchon, a pleasure to finally meet you."

The Sky Marshal and the Advisor eventually get shown around to the Observation deck, mingling with the other emmissaries from various Triumvirate nations, returning short bows and whatnot.
"General Gaarm, Admiral Shaar," Dashyondon smiles, "I am Sky Marshal Ho'elun Dashyondon of the Fifth Triumvirate Combined Fleet and this is Foot-to-Ass Advisor Lance Hawke of Scolopendra." He indicates the various persons with nods of his head. "Now that the formality is over, we're looking forward to this combined operation. I've been in touch with my XO and she is currently mustering the Fifth in position behind yours, Admiral. We'll be ready to go when you give the signal."
General Gaarm almost seems to grin, but gives the approximation of one instead; a half-raised crest accompanied by both sets of eyelids closing. Admiral Shaar also closes her lids, but displays her dewlap showing red.
General Gaarm addresses the Dread Dominion officers. "Admiral Talethian, Maresciallo Alighieri, Capatian Cavalleri, Captain Malatesta." Each gets a short bow and a salute at the mention of their name." It is excellent that you have come. We hope to show what we have to offer to the combined Triumvirate forces."
Admiral Shaar addresses the Scolopendran officers. "Sky Marshal Dashyndron, Advisor Hawke," They also get a short bow and a salute. "It appears that there may be a change of plans. I have remained apprised of the Angelan situation, and have made note of their dissapearance. As such, I believe that they will be unable to attend. And so we await the formations of Ceteganda. Once they are prepared, all will commence."
She steps over to the Observation window, and observes the last ship in the Sakkran fleet maneuvering into position. Excellent. Like a well-lubricated chronometer they will fly.
"There have also been whisperings that this would be an opportunity for less scrupulous groups to attempt to take advantage of the Angelan incident, to attempt to seize their technology. As such, I have ordered all Sakkran crafts to carry live ammunition, and remain at yellow condition. I hope this is not cause for worry?" She turns and faces the assembled officers, punctuating the statement as more of a question.

"I have no trouble with live ammuntion being on the ships, especially considering mine are carrying live ammo as well, although their ready bays have training rounds," Mallory replies to the Admiral question. "Now, if I understand correctly, Angelus may not show up. If that is the case, I shall have our ships prepare to begin immediately."
Mallory searches the deck for a moment, then calls out, "MAJOR THOMPSON!"
From across the room, the startled young man looks up back from where he stands conversing with other junior officers, and sends on his implant, "Ma'am?"
Mallory shouts again, "Signal the fleet! The schedule's moving up, they're to move into formation immediately and prepare to begin!"
She turns back to the other flag officers. "The gods gave me a good set of lungs that have lasted me nearly eighty years, no reason to let them go to waste. We'll be ready to begin in a few moments, Admiral Shaar."

"No complaint on our part," Doshyondon says cheerfully, albeit slightly more reserved at mention of Angelus. "We're at Event Condition One right now, just in case... and on call if things get worse around Angelus."
Andrew Seal calmly waits for the other Triumvirate representatives to introduce themselves before approaching General Gaarm and Admiral Shaar. "Admiral, General, it is my pleasure to meet you.", he says, giving a short bow to both of them with the mention of their titles. "I thank you for allowing us the honor of participating in the parade with you today. Allow me to introduce our Minister of Defense, Artemis Prime.", he says, gesturing to a shorter woman at his right, with a striking face, vibrant lavender eyes and shoulder length violet hair.
"How do you do?", she replies calmly, giving a slight bow.
Andrew turns to Admiral Shaar. "I have heard that the Angelans may not attend. Is something amiss?"
The General and Admiral Shaar bow, and salute. "Prime Minister Seal; Minister Prime." Admiral Shaar taps a smallish brown bead right behind her ear. "I am being apprised of a situation concerning the Angelans. On the World Disc, there was a massive energy surge. Then Angelan's began disappearing, and all their facilities have ceased function. I assume the worst, and a small force has been dispatched to investigate. Until I know more, the review will commence."
General Gaarm is rubbing his chin as the Admiral speaks. "A most interesting occurence. I am having sensor info relayed to my datapad, and will be analyzing it later. Right now, this is my primary concern. Speaking of which....
General Gaarm and Admiral Shaar both look at the Void from the observation windows, and the constellations outside. Admiral Shaar whispers "The alignment is near. It is time."
Both approach the window until they are about 1 foot away from it. A team of Imperial Cadets is signaled, and beverages are handed out to all the guests; tall champagne flutes of a dusky grey crystal filled with an obviously fine champagne.
"Lady Mallory; Major Thompson. you may begin at your leisure."

Major Thompson begins narrating as the Cetagandan ships begin to approach. Soon, several small fighter groups are slowly passing the observation deck at a safe distance.
"First, we have the TSA/F-104 'Hawk' Aerospace Superiority Fighter. Its our primary dogfighter, and doubles as a light fighter/bomber. It carries four medium pulse masers and a medium plasma arc, and a variety of missile, including up to two anti-capital torpedoes. The heavy plasma arc, of course, is on a scale for tanks and fighters"
http://web.ics.purdue.edu/~chigbee/Cetaganda/space%20superiority.JPG
"Next is the TSA/P-98 Falcon Aerospace Pursuit Fighter. Its role is scouting and bomber interdiction. It mount four ER medium lasers, and a large number of anti-fighter missiles"
http://web.ics.purdue.edu/~chigbee/Cetaganda/pursuit.JPG
"Third is the TSA/B-108 Eagle Aerospace Heavy Bomber. It can carry a substantial payload, and attack both planetary and space targets with ease. It has three twin heavy plasma arc turrets for defense, and can carry anti-fighter weapons as well."
http://web.ics.purdue.edu/~chigbee/Cetaganda/parade%20bombers.JPG
"Finally, the pride of the Fleet fighter arm, the Shrike Mark III. It is the aerospace counterpart of the Bolo, and shares the same advanced EI/human interface. It can carry a variety of weapons, including small CREWS emitters and a miniturized grav imploder lance. Unfortuantly, it also shares a Bolo's high cost, limiting the number we can deploy."
http://web.ics.purdue.edu/~chigbee/Cetaganda/shrike.JPGhttp://web.ics.purdue.edu/~chigbee/Cetaganda/shrike%20single.JPG
"All of our fighters carry phased gravitic drives designed for atmospheric use, although they are primarily space fighters. They are not quite as manuverable as pure airbreathers, as they must rely heavily on the grav drive to maintain the best aerodynamics."
<OOC: More to come later tomorrow morning...or this morning, as it appears to now be. If anyone would prefer I post links instead of the actual images, please tell me. Feel free to ask questions regarding my ships and stuff.>

"This next set of vessels are classified as medium warships. This first group of ships are all 'Wyvern'
Light Attack Craft. The LAC serves a similar purpose to the Scolopendran Loki, in that it is highly adaptable to fit most any mission. The most common uses are as transports, assault landers, heavy weapons platforms, and scouting. These ships a much smaller than a Loki, though, at about seventy-five to a ninety meters long, depending on what the mission adaptable pods on the side are carrying."
http://web.ics.purdue.edu/~chigbee/Cetaganda/lacs.JPG
"These two globular craft that are approaching are heavy dropships. They're approximately three hundred meters in circumfrance, and are our main craft for landing land numbers of surface troops. They mount a large number of weapons, primarily for anti-fighter defense, landing zone suppression, and troop support. In fact, they typically have at least two heavy artillery mounts. They are capable of carring a small number of fighters as well, although it takes away from space for vehicles and supplies."
http://web.ics.purdue.edu/~chigbee/Cetaganda/dropship%201.JPG
"Next is the 'Claw' type corvette, two hundred and fifty meters. Corvettes primarily serve as couriers and pickets, along with some close fire support for ground operations."
http://web.ics.purdue.edu/~chigbee/Cetaganda/corvette1.JPG
"Coming up is the 'Talon' type monitor. Its three hundred meters long, and serves much the same purpose as a corvette."
http://web.ics.purdue.edu/~chigbee/Cetaganda/monitor1.JPG
"You normally see corvettes and monitors in garrison positions, rather than in forward line units. However, they are the largest ships that can easily enter an atmosphere, so they are seen on occasions where a LAC isn't enough but the situation doesn't warrant a full ortillery strike."

"Next up, we have our capital ships. Capital ships are capable of going for long durations without any outside support, which sets them apart from medium vessels. Unfortuantly, our capital drives prevent them from entering the atmospheres of most habitable planets as...Bad Things tend to happen. On the other hand, all ships of the most recent generation have been fitted with FTL engines, as have about half of the previous generation, with refits continuing."
"This first ship is a Indianapolis - class General Escort Frigate, and is seven hundred meters long. Escort frigates are designed primarily to defend a battle fleet against missile and fighter attacks. As such, they have an unusually large number of point defense clusters. These clusters are also oversized, and have enhanced tracking systems. Frigates also have extensive electronic warfare systems. This can be seen in on this particular class as its white sides, which was a partially successful attempt to intergrate enhanced ECM directly into the outer hull. It also, as anyone but a frigate captain will tell you, made more than a bit ugly. A frigates heavier weapons are oriented at destroying medium ships."
http://web.ics.purdue.edu/~chigbee/Cetaganda/frigate.JPG
"Second we have the Gambier Bay - class Escort Carrier, six hundred meters long. An escort carrier's primary purpose is to provide sufficient fighter and LAC coverage to defend a task force or squadron against fighter attacks."
http://web.ics.purdue.edu/~chigbee/Cetaganda/escort%20carrier.JPG
"Third is the Katana-class General Patrol Destroyer. The destroyer is one thousand meters long, and has a balance of weapons designed for medium ships like dropships and capital ships. Its main use is for patrol against piracy, and for convoy escort."
http://web.ics.purdue.edu/~chigbee/Cetaganda/patrol%20destroyer.JPG
"The next two ships are the Thor light cruiser and Repulse heavy cruiser. The two ships are built around identical frames and hull structures, making both 1.5 kilometers long. The differences between the two are in their armament. The GCL has a heavy energy armament, but light projectile and missiles; the GCA is the other way around. Both ships are still powerful combatants. The easiest way to tell them apart is by the prominent missile bays of a heavy cruiser, and the larger number of the purple CREWS banks on the light cruiser. One last thing of interest is that cruisers are the first ship type with weapons that are oriented at ortillery stikes."
http://web.ics.purdue.edu/~chigbee/Cetaganda/cl.JPGhttp://web.ics.purdue.edu/~chigbee/Cetaganda/ca.JPG
http://web.ics.purdue.edu/~chigbee/Cetaganda/cruisers.JPG
"The final capital ship is the Europe - class fast carrier, 1.6 kilometers long. It is our main carrier for fast task forces, as it carries a large number of parasites but is much faster than a command carrier. It is a bit light on its defensive armament, however. It also carries a large number of marines in addition to its fighter wing."

"The vessels now approaching us are supercapital ships. Supercaps are command vessels, designed to coordinate fleet movements and form the core of a battle line. One thing you should note are the towers on top or at the front: these are not command facilities, but rather observations decks much like the ones we are one. The towers provide a good view for when the command ship hosts dignitaries, and tactically speaking it provides a target for people to shoot at rather than something important, like the coffee machine."
"The first ship is the Erwin Rommel - class Main Battle Cruiser. It comes in at an even two kilometers, and masses several million tons. It has a balanced armament, although it does have considerably less plasma weapons than previous generations, as the fleet is shifting more emphasis on optical weapons. It also has a several secondary imploder lances in addition to its spinal mounts. It has more medium weapons than most ships of comparable size, which can put it at a slight disadvantage when facing down other ships in a slugging match. However, it has superior defenses and speed compared to other ships; it was felt that durability and mobility was more important. And simulated combat trials have shown that it fares much better when faced with hordes of dropship-type vessels."
http://web.ics.purdue.edu/~chigbee/Cetaganda/battlecruiser1.JPG http://web.ics.purdue.edu/~chigbee/Cetaganda/battlecruiser2.JPG
"Next is the newest warship class in the fleet: the Lionel Mandrake dreadnought, 2.1 kilometers and an ungodly amount of tonnage. In many ways, Mandrakes are the opposite of Rommels. They mount no secondary armament, and point defenses little better than that of a cruiser. Instead, they have a huge number of anti-capital weapons. Obviously, it requires an escort; but its low acceleration insures it's never anywhere but a fleet anyways." When he says the name of the ship, Major Thompson glances for just a moment towards the Scolopendrans.

"The last supercapital ship is the Enterprise - class command carriers. These gigantic ships are twenty-two hundred meters long, carry thousands of troops and hundreds of parasite craft including fighters, LACs, and dropships, and are often the command ship of entire fleets and clusters. Unlike many carriers, they do mount a powerful armament that can ward of most attackers except other supercaps."

"These next two ship types are very special ones. These are synchronized EI vessels. At the core of each is a human being that has been cyberneticly linked to a specially created evolving intelligence almost since birth. The people in question, commonly refered to as shellpeople, suffer from genetic handicaps that even modern technology and magic can not fix. Rather than have their lives go to waste, they are instead placed in a special core, or shell, that provides for their biological needs, and connected to a special EI. They two minds grow together and fuse into one integrated whole, or Mind. The children are trained to use their skills in a variety of ways. They manage cities, stations, or as in these cases, ships. It?s really up to them, which coupled with the extremely low number of children born with defects makes Minds very precious and in high demand. Those who choose to be integrated into a ship have access to the most advanced technology, much of which can't be employed without them. They have a great deal of control over how their ships are outfitted, especially after a few decades when all of the debts are paid; a very short time, compared to the centuries they'll live. Currently there are two base sizes: a frigate and a cruiser. While most ships are used for intelligence or scientific purposes, a few choose to be warship, at least for a time. The first two ships are exploration vessels, the omnifrigate Ultimate Ship and the omnicruiser Truth and Reconciliation.

"Coming up are some of our non-combat and exploration ships. These small craft passing now are standard multi-purpose drones. They are most commonly used for recon and repair work, but can be fitted with a single laser to bolster defenses."
http://web.ics.purdue.edu/~chigbee/Cetaganda/drones.JPG
"The two spheres behind them are deep atmosphere probes. They're used to explore gas giants, and have a special hull impervious to virtually anything but visible light. The material is too difficult to make to be used in warship hulls.

Note the gravsensor sails, to assist in making long-range jumps. They carry a large number of probes and exploration-fitted LACs, and various other scientific equipment. "
http://web.ics.purdue.edu/~chigbee/Cetaganda/explorer.JPG

"We conclude as the First Fleet passes in review. The First Fleet is made of four parts: a command squadron, the Second Garrison Cluster, a group of EI synch ships, and the fleet's non-combat ships. The Second Garrison consists of a carrier trinary, two line binaries, and a picket binary. A brief summary of Cetaganda fleet organization: there are five ships to a star, two stars to a binary, three stars to a trinary, and three to five binaries and trinaries to a cluster. Generally a star is made up of ships with a similar purpose, with a binary or trinary being an overall combat unit. For example, a Line binary consists of a cruiser star, with four cruisers and a battlecruiser and a escort star to protect the cruisers, comprised of four frigates and an escort carrier."

As the last Cetaganda ship passes from sight, Thompson says, "Its been an honor to help coordinate this event, and I want to thank you both for the Empire and for myself for allowing us to participate. If anyone has any questions while we wait for the next nation's section, I'll answer them to the best of my abilities."
Admiral Shaar continues looking out the observation window at the passing Cetagandan vessels.
Interesting. And very large. But not my style. She sips from her champagne flute. "I don't believe there are any questions from me. You have an impressive collection of crafts, Lady Mallory. But I believe that the Khenalans have the floor next, yes?"
Atlantian Outcasts

Also in the Observation deck now, was Senator Orion.
"I wonder how things are going at home" he thought to himself. "The Demon ship had to have reached the Zoir outpost by now."
He turned away from the Pleiades, and looked at the fleet passing by. He wished that his fleet could have been part of this. The people of the universe needed to know the Atlantians better.
"Oh well, maybe next year, or whenever they are doing this" He studied the ships. No sense of art or pride on the ships. They where too blocky. Orion didn't like them very much. Not that he said this, of coarse. He didn't want to damage his diplomacy with anyone. He walked over and got a drink.

Radu was watching the demonstration. No one seemed to mind him, but he could live with that. Beside, he was not that impressed.
Most of those ships would be useless in a asteroid fiel combat, against some jet-packed astronauts and some nicely deployd drones. But it was, however, a demonstration of force. The money involved in building those mamuts (and even the interceptors were briliantly expensive) could be used for far more humanitarian needs.
Maybe those capital ships's gun could destroy Pluto, but untill they could manuvre to destroy everything, they could easely become targets for a space-guerilla war, he thought, proud of his jetters.
Of course, he was thinking as a war miner. And miners rarely see what lies beyond their asteroid field

Andrew turns to look at Artemis, who appears to be holding an earpiece to her ear, listening to someone on the other end. She gives a slight shake of her head, and Andrew turns back to the Sakkrans.
"Your forgiveness, Admiral, General, but it appears we are not ready. Would you be so kind as to go before us?"
General Gaarm gives a slight sigh. Mammals! He turns to Admiral Shaar and signals with a clawed finger his go-ahead.
Admiral Shaar taps her ear-bud. "All units, form up and begin. 23rd Armor Cavalry, you may begin first. All units, proceed on their tails."
As what appears to be a silvery cloud becomes visible, the Admiral begins her oration.
http://www.5amfunnies.com/sakkra/space/hordeform.JPG
"These first units we see are members of the 23rd Armor Cavalry. Void-modified Horde Troopers. A titanium/Osmium plating acts as armor for these powered armor units. They can maneuver on the tip of a needle thanks to attitude control thrusters on their wings. A tritium/hydrogen engine supplies their flight packs, and the armament borne by them is our EM Mass-driver personal cannon. Used primarily in urban combat scenarios, or in Void battlegrounds with heavy debris in the area, they are quite efficient at flushing out targets and mass-swarming larger crafts."
"Behind them are our aero-space fighter known as the Swatter Drones.
http://www.5amfunnies.com/sakkra/space/asfighform.JPG
These units are based on our very successful Sweeper drones. AI fighter units, they can maneuver equally well in atmosphere or in space. their purposes are many, from recon missions to target softening and LZ clearing. They're covered in our own Organic Plating, allowing excellent protection against EMP attacks. Sporting a 30mm retractable turret-mounted minigun, two 50 lb anti-personnel bombs and 6 Serpent's Fury laser-guided missiles, they can make short work of hostile forces in any predetermined LZ."
As the hundreds of Swatter Drones fly by, they dip their wings in unison. The Admiral nods. "Coming up now are our Anole II long-range space fighters."
http://www.5amfunnies.com/sakkra/space/fighterformationA.JPG
"These are long-range fighters covered in Organic Plating. They have one turret-mounted Hard Beam cannon, and carry Serpent's tooth missiles. These are the mainstay of our Orbital Station defense forces due to their maneuverability and hardiness. At a size of 5.25 meters long and wide, they are quite able to fit on our carriers in droves."
The cloud of thousands of fighters flies by, all switching to a wedge formation in wings of five as they pass. The Admiral nods.
"Coming up now is our Gecko and Caiman class corvettes."
http://www.5amfunnies.com/sakkra/space/corvetteform.JPG
The corvettes are in a flying-wing formation with their sails furled and folded. As they approach the viewing area, they unfurl and unfold their sails.
"The Corvettes are also stationed on our Orbital Stations as defense units. The Gecko variant is 50.5 by 20.5 and is used mostly for patrol and recon missions, while the Caiman, which is 52.5 by 25.5 is assigned to escort and assault missions due to it's heavier armament. Containing batteries of Spore missiles and Hard Beam turrets, they are quite maneuverable and capable in dogfighting. the sails supply generators with power, and also use the Solar Winds to propel them when they are in no rush to be somewhere, or for extended voyages to give their fusion generators rest."
The Corvettes dip as they pass the viewing area, and Admiral Shaar nods.
"Now coming up are our Medium Freighters of the Merchant Navy."
http://www.5amfunnies.com/sakkra/space/freighterform.JPG
"These are our supply ships, transport crafts and mobile repair docks. At 180.5 by 135.5, they can hold up to 200 tons of materials, ammo and anything else that can fit into their cargo bays. they carry 6 Brilliant Pebbles missiles as defense against pirates and raiders.
"Now coming up are our Iguana-class destroyers."
http://www.5amfunnies.com/sakkra/space/destroyerform.JPG
"These destroyers are about 140.5 meters long by 70.5 meters wide. They carry several medium Hard Beam banks, several point defense turrets, 2 Spore missile betteries and a 1 meter Gauss Cannon spinally mounted."
The destroyers form a flying wedge formation as they pass the review area, and the Admiral nods.
"Now we see the Drakk-class Cruiser. These are used in patrol and escort missions, and for assault purposes. they measure 285.45 meters long, 130 meters wide."
http://www.5amfunnies.com/sakkra/space/cruiserform.JPG
As the destroyers pass, they unfurl their sails and rotate slightly in unison.
These cruisers carry a number of medium Hard Beam banks, several Spore missile batteries, numerous point defense turrets and a heavy Neutron Cannon spinally mounted for heavy assault purposes."
"Now approaching are the raptor-class battleships."
http://www.5amfunnies.com/sakkra/space/Bshipform.JPG
"These are the point of the Sakkran Stellar Navy. They feature scores of point defenses, several medium Hard Beam banks, several heavy Plasma banks, Spore missile batteries and a 330mm Gauss Cannon. Usually fires large asteroid chunks for heavy assault. They also carry 30 Horde Suits for fighter defense."
The battleships unfurl their solar sails as they pass in unison, and General Gaarm seems to nod as well as the Admiral.
"Now passing for your inspection are the Gator-class Battlecarriers."
http://www.5amfunnies.com/sakkra/space/Bcarrierform.JPG
"They boast numerous light turrets; hard beam mainly. Serpent's Fury missile batteries have also been installed on these crafts to defend against anti-ship missiles. They can carry 120 Anole II fighters, 12 Gecko-class corvettes and 240 Horde Troopers."
The carriers unfurl their sails as they pass.
"Now approaching the review area are our Wyvern-class Warships."
http://www.5amfunnies.com/sakkra/space/warshipform.JPG
"These are the heavy sluggers of the Imperial Stellar Navy. Equipped with heavy Organic Plating thicker than normal, they measure 950 meters in length by 710.1 meters wide by 500 meters high. numerour light Hard Beam turrets aloow for point defense, while a score of Heavy Plasma Banks support heavy assault. A pair of Neutron Heavy Assault cannons allows for a significant punch as a first strike. 4 Spore Pod missile batteries and 3 Serpent's Fury batteries complete the defense ability of this craft."
"Now approaching are our Boa-class Warcarriers."
http://www.5amfunnies.com/sakkra/space/warcarrierform.JPG
"For extended engagements, you'll be hard-pressed to find a better craft suited for it. They feature numerous light Hard Beam and Gauss Cannon turrets peppered throughout the hull of the ship. At 1.25 kilometers long by 750 meters wide and high, these ships boast at least twice the carrying capacity of the Gator-class. That's 240 long range fighters, 25 corvettes and 480 Horde Troopers each.
As the Warcarriers pass, the Admiral breathes a heavy sigh, while the General's eyes seem to light up.
"Now for the pride of the Sakkran Imperial Stellar Navy, we present our newly-comissioned flagship, the Emperor's Horn." The view from the observation window is seemingly dominated by one ship.
http://www.5amfunnies.com/sakkra/space/commandship.JPG
http://www.5amfunnies.com/sakkra/space/commandshipB.JPG
"This ship is 1.85 kilometers in length, 830 meters in width and 645 meters high. Several broad-side batteries of plasma cannons compliment the horde of light turrets. Medium and Heavy Hard Beam turrets are located on all sides of her, while Serpent's Tooth and Serpent's Fury missile batteries, located on top and bottom of the ship, aid in defense against small fighters and missiles. One tri-focusing plasma cannon spinally mounted can burn away any front-facing assault craft. the thorny projections are in case someone reckless attempts to make a ramming maneuver."
"This will be the only ship in the Sakkran fleet that will be Ortillary-capable, since we do not view such actions lightly. Two 10 meter Quad-Barreled Gauss Cannons mounted on the bottom of the craft can fire a variety of bombardment materials in rapid succession, allowing for the look of the heavens raining down death."
As the Emperor's Horn completes her passing, Admiral Shaar and General Gaarm continue looking, eyes glazed over. "A wonderous sight indeed, General."
.
.
.
.
.
"Aye, Admiral."
"Now finally we present the creations that made much of our organic technology possible. We present the debut of the Pakayg."
http://www.5amfunnies.com/sakkra/space/pkform.JPG
"For many decades, our scientists in the Great Asteroid Belt, with the aid of a few other nations, toiled diligently to make sentient ships. These are the first successful ones we were able to make. I present Alpha, Beta and Gamma. Gamma will be speaking shortly. Suffice it to say, they are indeed fully sentient, and have individual personalities. They have agreed to explore beyond the system in an attempt to understand their surroundings. Gamma, we greet you."
The sound of tinkling bells, as well as echoey unknowns, reside in the background. "Greetings, Maker. I speak for us all when I say we are glad to be part of this ceremony. The Makers on board are doing quite nicely, and have helped us achieve 99.5% efficiency."
Admiral Shaar turns to the assembled guests. "We had the Pakayg make a stop-over to accept a crew for the exploration endeavor. They are perfectly capable of being controlled with only 1 crewman on board, but we found that the more beings in the neuro-shunt pods, which is how they, and as a result this ship you are on, are manned and maintained, the greater the level of efficiency there was."
Turning back to the observation window, Admiral Shaar admires the 1.05 km beings, their sails a-flutter with the solar winds. "We wish you good fortune on your trip, and yearn for its success."
"Thank you Maker. We will definitely be in contact when things of worth are noticed. May the Winds carry you to fortune and glory."
The ships then pass, the solar sails reflecting directed sunlight onto the observation deck, brightening everything by several degrees.

Sky Marshal Dashyondon nods to Hawke, standing by the observation window. "Would you like to narrate, sir?"
Hawke just barely cracks a smile and makes a soft 'harumpf' which could almost pass for a chuckle. Certainly. The Fifth is in standard parade formation, I suppose?"
"Dees to bees, sir."
Hawke nods. "Excellent. Now, to begin..."
http://www.weirdozone.0catch.com/projects/compyart/tmbpuma-2clock-dyn.jpg (http://www.weirdozone.0catch.com/projects/compyart/puma-2clock-dyn.jpg)
Eight angular craft lead the formation, spread wide, obvious dagger-like hardpoints on their bow structure and rounded turrets on their sides. "These are the TME-49 model Puma-class destroyers, designed primarily as picket vessels. Its primary engagement armament are the fourteen medium naval-grade particle cannon and the fourteen heavy naval-grade lasers in the turrets. Forward firepower is complemented by the four heavy particle cannon on the ventral slopes of the forward hull. The Puma is primarily a hit-and-run craft, lacking the armor of heavier designs but making up for it with a robust compartmentalized structure and reinforced shielding. Like all TYCS capital ships, it has a contingent of self defense fighters, twelve in its case. Eighty large field-grade pulse lasers in point-defense mounts protect it from incoming missiles and fighters and the like."
http://www.weirdozone.0catch.com/projects/compyart/tmbgrendel-1clock.jpg (http://www.weirdozone.0catch.com/projects/compyart/grendel-1clock.jpg)
Next come a line of six bulbous craft with gunports so densely packed as to be easily mistakable for photoelectric cells. "These are the maulers of the fleet, the TME-50-B model Grendel-class 'point defense' frigates." Hawke chuckles softly to himself at some sort of inside joke. "Their armament consists of two-thousand seven-hundred eighty-four medium one-sixty kilogram kinetic-kill ultravelocity missile launchers with a magazine of," he pauses for breath, "eighty-three thousand five-hundred twenty missiles." Grinning slightly, he shrugs. "Ugly as sin and built like bricks, these things can violate fighter formations and capital-ship flotillas alike. The hangar bays on the port and starboard ends of the hull carry twenty-four aerospace fighters to screen it."
http://okcac.freeyellow.com/doga/scorpsmall.JPG
Next, an arrowhead of four graceful craft shaped something like backwards grappling hooks. "TME-197 model Scorpion-class fast-attack frigates. Same tonnage as the Grendel, much different mission. While the Grendel is supposed to sit inside our formations and missile fighters... or sit inside enemy formations, spin, and missile everything... the Scorpion is a hit and run craft, heavy on the fore and aft directed-weapon armaments. The tip of each 'wing' has a heavy particle cannon and an uberheavy naval-grade autocannon on mobile mounts to take advantage of the wide fire-arc the wings provide. Sixteen heavy lasers supplement the firepower, while 720-degree engagement capability is attained through twenty-four light and twenty-four heavy naval missile launchers combined with two-thousand four-hundred eight-kilogram long-range kinetic-kill ultravelocity missile tubes. It also has six aerospace fighters and one-hundred twenty large pulse lasers for point-defense work."

Then come two graceful and relatively sleek ships, long and thin, with horned 'ears' coming up from its forward hull and a ventral 'fin.' "This is a TME-53 model Tiger-class medium cruiser. Twelve medium naval-grade particle cannon and twelve heavy naval-grade autocannon in paired turrets are its primary engagement weapons. Two uberheavy autocannon mounted singly fore and aft supplement its firepower in hit-and-fade strikes as do six heavy naval lasers, mounted in banks of three. Sixteen-hundred eight-kilogram medium-range kinetic-kill ultravelocity missile tubes can, simply put, hurt things. Point-defense is covered by fourty large pulse lasers in defensive mountings across the hull. With twelve aerospace fighters and an egregious amount of well-placed armor, it is one of our ships of the line."

Next are two ugly, blocky ships which simply seem effective, clusters of antennae and guns in front, bespeckled with hardpoints and hangars. "TME-51 model Sulaco-class heavy cruiser. Ugly, relatively slow, and a bruiser. Unlike most of our vessels, it relies primarily on kinetic-kill and multi-munition autocannon for weaponry, twelve heavy and twelve very-heavy mounted in pairs across its hull. Six medium naval particle cannon, six heavy naval lasers, and six variable-munition naval-grade missile tubes complement that engagement firepower. Eighty medium pulse lasers and eighteen fighters protect it from the small-fry."

Then come two long, blocky vessels that look like Viking vessels of old, straight down to the sail-shaped phased array that graces its dorsal side. Unlike its predecessors, however, this one is coated in turrets and missile tubes, lined with hangar doors. "These are TME-186 model Longship-class escort carriers, part of the 'new' WarShip series. Its engagement weapons are fourty medium naval particle cannon and fourty light naval missile launchers, with eighty large pulse lasers acting in point-defense roles. It carries a full division each of Heavy Gears and assault-armored Mobile Infantry, combined with a full wing of aerospace fighters... seventy-two of them. It's also the lightest of our mass dropship carriers, capable of hauling around thirteen dropships of either Loki, Sleipnir, or Centipede class."
http://www.weirdozone.0catch.com/projects/compyart/tmbtitan-10clock.jpg (http://www.weirdozone.0catch.com/projects/compyart/titan-10clock.jpg)
Next is a huge, ugly ship, a central spine with broad segmented plates held from it with bulky spars, capped on the ends with a massive drive section and a flat-angled forward hull with door after hangar door on its fore. "TME-185 model Titan-class heavy carrier, previously the backbone of our force projection structure. It acted as the flagship of fleets, and now it leads squadrons. Not intended for combat, it concentrates on standoff weapons. Sixteen heavy autocannon protect it from enemy naval assets; thirty-two heavy naval lasers can reach out and touch someone or act as pinpoint ortillery, replacing standard artillery on the battlefield. Finally, two heavy naval Gauss rifles in those forward mandibles can hammer something with half-ton slugs if it annoys us overmuch. It has eighty pulse lasers for point defense, should the need arise. Finally, it proves itself to be a heavy carrier with two wings of aerospace fighters, three divisions each of Gears and M.I., and fourty-eight dropship collars. All those things on those side structures? Drop tubes."
The Sky Marshal steps up. "This one, Heimdall, is actually on loan from the First Expeditionary. She's got a long and glorious service history."

Then come two ships looking like the bastard children of steel porcupines and old ironclad dreadnoughts. "The TME-52 model Supreme Emperor-class battleship," Hawke intones proudly, "the first of the 'new line.' Eighty heavy particle cannon, independent on ammunition, fourty heavy naval autoccannon, and fourty large pulse lasers. A full wing of aerospace fighters and provision for over ten thousand battlesuited marines if absolutely necessary. Combined with a metric effton of armor, and this is one brick that no one wants to be on the bad end of."

Next is a single vessel, one of the bastard ironclads with massive slab-sided pods attached and truly huge thick 'wings' sticking out at odd angles. "The Supreme Emperor was so good, we just modified it to become the TME-191 model President-General-class supercarrier. It has 'only' fourty heavy naval particle cannon to make room for the expanded one-hundred twenty large pulse laser point-defense array. It carries nine full aerospace wings, nine Heavy Gear divisions, nine Mobile Infantry divisions, and a hundred-fifty dropship collars on those big wings. It, like the SupEmp, maxes out at two kilometers in length.
"And, finally,

"The Sky Marshal-class System Defense Fortress. If you will, Sky Marshal?"
Ho'elun chuckles, "Yes, sir. O'Neill is a further modification on the SupEmp, just two of 'em slapped together on the ventral sides. It has a hundred-twenty heavy particle cannon and eight wavefront gravitic cannon, which can either perform interdictor attacks, area denial, or just rip things to shreds. She was originally designed to carry three aerospace fighter wings and two divisions each of Gears and M.I., but now she simply has two... variable divisions and two M.I. divisions. I'm sure some of your materials scientists have heard of the Pterodactyl, Admiral.
"After this parade, she'll take on a bunch of Viper militia fighters to take over to the colony on Bright Morning. And there ya go."
Admiral Shaar looks on as the O'Niell passes in review. It must be incredibly cramped in there with all those cannons everywhere. But a death-dealer for certain.
"Very impressive Advisor Hawke and Sky Marshal Dashyondon. We should have our Void-ship engineers get together for a bit of a confab. And i've heard of these Pterodactyls, but have yet to see one in action."
General Gaarm looks at his datapad, and nods. "I believe the Khenalans have some crafts up for review next. Any ETA on when your ships will be ready?" He looks at Lady Mallory for the answer on this one.

Orion watched the ships. "Interesting, just how different the ships are"
After a slight nod from Artemis, Andrew turns and bows slightly to the collective guests. "My apologies for the delay."
After clearing his throat slightly, he begins to speak. "Allow me to begin by giving a bit of background information on our military. Before joining the Triumvirate, Khenala's "space navy" consisted of medical ships, and had never ventured beyond the Earth sphere-of-influence. We sought to avoid battle by not gathering enemies, and it worked...for the most part. Sadly, Earth is not an ideal place to reside. There are many nations who would attack and destroy just to do so. And so, after our first contact with the Scolopendrans, we petitioned to join the Triumvirate of Yut. With their help, we journeyed to Titan to begin anew.
"For this, we were, and indeed, still are, eternally grateful. To contribute to the Titan defense, for the good of the Triumvirate and as mandated by the charter, Khenala donates a great portion of its military budget to the TYCS. There are many individuals of Khenalian nationality serving on the TYCS ships as soldiers, specialists, and various support positions. However, to serve our individual interests abroad we recently began an initiative to expand our fleets. With space as dangerous as it is, we needed a design that would be fast, nimble, strong, and capable of deploying large amounts of troops in various locations.
"Balancing these traits was difficult, but we did our best. Because of its versatility, we have only the need for one ship design in our fleets. It can serve numerous different functions, and also due to its singular design throughout our fleet we were able to save considerable development and construction costs.
I present to you, the Avatar-class Capital Vessel.
http://www.fumetsu.net/ns/Avatar_Class.jpg
The vessel slides into view, followed at each side by a group of fighters.
"This vessel is our flagship, the KDS Furious Angel. Weight is 1.6 million tons. For its armament, we borrowed heavily from Scolopendran/TYCS weaponry.", he pauses, giving a respectful nod to Sky Marshal Dashyondon and Advisor Hawke.
"It carries fifty heavy particle cannons, twenty-seven pulse laser cannons, and several batteries of fusion missiles. To save weight, we used a combination of Angelan Ferro-Titanium armor and Menelmacari light particle shielding.
"It carries 2 squadrons of heavy fighters and is capable of transporting up to 4,000 troops to any excursion, some of whom would be outfitted with powered armor garnered from the Sakkrans." He pauses again to give a respectful nod to General Gaarm and Admiral Shaar.
"None of this could be possible without the technology-sharing agreements in place with our fellow Triumvirate nations. While I know that our fleets pale in comparison with those presented today, let it be known that should it come to war with an enemy, the Khenalian Armed Forces will fight to the dying breath along side you. I can only hope our contribution to your nations will be just as sizeable as what you have given to us."

Orion had just suddenly realized just how big the Federation of Atlantis was compaired so 99% of the other nations out there. His nation owned an entire cluster of stars, as well as a dust cloud (although no one lived in the cloud). Yet here he saw several SPACE nations all occupying a single planet and it's moons. No doute, his nation was BIG.
General gaarm nods as the last ship completes its course.
"Excellent. Excellent indeed. Admiral; your announcement, please."
"Thank you General. I am announcing that 2/5ths of our ships seen today will be given over to TYCS command. Their crews have been briefed, and are prepared to accept orders. Most have opted to transfer their career records over, while a few have opted to stay in service to the Empire."
"We thank you all for attending. A meal will now be served to commemorate the completion of this pass-in-review."
At that, several palanquins, born on the shoulders of several Sakkran troopers, are brought to the center of the Observation Deck, and laid out.
That ship spoke...
Greetings, Maker. I speak for us all when I say we are glad to be part of this ceremony. That ship spoke!
Radu could not get that sound out of his head. He knew it was real. The Titanians would not bluff that. And beside, he knew that they were working to build that. Living ships...
Living ships speaking
We will definitely be in contact when things of worth are noticed...
He suddently felt endangered. It was a feeling who saved his live over and over again, during the revolutions. It was here again, while he was looking outside the deck, ignoring the chatter outside his mind.
Radu was a miner, but not a stupid one. You cannot control the mases, you cannot design and build state-of-the-art jetters right under your rival nose, you cannot convince miners who lived their life beneath the surface to go into space protected only by a shield they cannot see you cannot be a leader if you are that stupid. He just saw ships larger that some moons... Fear it is normal, unless you can divert it to admiration and respect.
But the hole in his chest was there to feel
