It's coming soon.
OOC: Are you sure taht was wise... I mean you could milk a lot more sales out of the theatre version. MAybe you should postpone it until your movie sales fall. Because they are quite strong so far, and may yet to improve through aggressive advertising.

In order to capitalize on its latest film's strong box-office showing (and incidentally to prolong the life of that film), Eternal Flame Productions is rereleasing some of the earlier Jade Dragon films as a box set. The titles are also available individually.

Movie Title*: Jade Dragon Memorial Box 1 (includes Legend of the Jade Dragon, Triumph of the Jade Dragon, Death of the Jade Dragon, The Jade Dragon Lives, and Secret of the Jade Dragon, also available separately)

Movie Genre*: Martial-Arts Wuxia Action

Movie Summary*:

Legend of the Jade Dragon - The low-budget martial-arts movie that became a surprise mainstream hit, and has now been remastered for DVD. Interprets the story of Aoi Kitsuki, a historical figure who lived during Ravenspire's Warring Clans period, as a wuxia (martial arts tinged with mysticism) drama. Acting as a spy, Aoi must travel through enemy lands to deliver a list of names of sympathizers among the enemy clan. But it won't be easy to slip past the Hoshino army... especially when they've been warned to expect her! When Aoi is discovered, can she defeat the Three Tiger Generals of Hoshino?

Triumph of the Jade Dragon - The first sequel picks up where the original left off. Aoi nearly gave her life in order to deliver the all-important list of names to her clan, but there will be no rest for the wounded warrior. With the information in hand, Clan Kitsuki is at last prepared to take action, but even with aid from inside the enemy's camp, the Kitsuki will need every single warrior if they are to overcome the superior numbers of Clan Hoshino. And when her sworn sister is captured in the battle, Aoi must go alone to rescue her -- which means facing Lady Hoshino, the Black Lotus.

Death of the Jade Dragon - Takes up several years after Triumph of the Jade Dragon. Aoi, the fearsome Jade Dragon, had renounced the way of the warrior following her defeat of Lady Hoshino. She wants nothing more than to live a quiet life in the remote reaches of Kitsuki territory. But the life of a master warrior is rarely so accomodating. When a former student appears, dreadfully wounded, at her door one evening bearing news of a school of black-magic wielding martial artists who are hunting down students of famous schools in order to make a name for themselves, Aoi feels obliged to take up the sword again. But not even the Jade Dragon can face the masters of the Poisoned Light school without paying a terrible price...

The Jade Dragon Lives - Aoi, who barely escaped death at the hands of the Poisoned Light, has been living under an assumed identity far from Kitsuki lands, among the tiny Clan Aozora, which is neutral in the wars. But once again, fate is not content to allow her to rest. When a group of "bandits" raid the clan's village, killing many of her new friends, including her fiance, she feels called to vengeance. But what seems like a simple matter becomes much more complicated when she uncovers evidence that the "bandits" were operating with the backing of Clan Kitsuki! Can it be true? If so, where do Aoi's loyalties lie?

Secret of the Jade Dragon - A "prequel" to the Jade Dragon series, this film uses a framing story involving a treaty between Clan Kitsuki and Clan Akiyama to examine Aoi's early life. It shows how she trained under her father, and how she earned the name Jade Dragon in the course of avenging his death. The climax features a double parallel duel: the past Aoi confronts her father's killer, while the present Aoi, employing similar moves, prevents an assassin from killing Lady Kitsuki and Lady Akiyama.

Cast: Aki Ayukawa as Aoi Kitsuki, the role that made her career. Rika Kobayashi, who plays Lady Chiriko Akiyama in Revenge of the Jade Dragon, originated that role in Secret of the Jade Dragon, where viewers see ominous hints of her true character, which surfaces in Revenge.

Budget*: Ranges from 2 million ploinks (less than $5 million US) for the original Legend of the Jade Dragon, to 30 million ploinks (~$70 milliion US) for the special-effects-laden Death of the Jade Dragon. The average is in the middle, at about 15-19 million ploinks (~$32-40 million US).

Producer(s): Eternal Flame Productions

Director: Rianna Mondain (Legend of the Jade Dragon, Triumph of the Jade Dragon, Death of the Jade Dragon), Ritsuko Asano (The Jade Dragon Lives, Secret of the Jade Dragon)

Special Effects: Most are light on computer-generated effects, relying on trick photography and wirework to do what the skill of the actors cannot. Legend of the Jade Dragon has the fewest effects, even of this sort, while Death of the Jade Dragon features (then-)cutting-edge CGI for the "magical" effects.

Running Time:

Legend of the Jade Dragon: 1 hr 42 min
Triumph of the Jade Dragon: 1 hr 28 min
Death of the Jade Dragon: 1 hr 59 min
The Jade Dragon Lives: 2 hr 09 min
Secret of the Jade Dragon: 1 hr 43 min

*DVD Extras:

All discs: Director commentaries, cast commentaries, multiple languages (dub and subtitle), theatrical trailers
Legend of the Jade Dragon: Cast bios, Aki Ayukawa screen test
Triumph of the Jade Dragon: Deleted scenes, outtakes
Death of the Jade Dragon: Deleted scenes, SFX workshops, making-of documentary, alternate ending, outtakes
The Jade Dragon Lives: Deleted scenes, interactive game, Jade Dragon trivia
Secret of the Jade Dragon: Deleted scenes, outtakes, fight choreography featurette, period-costuming featurette
Box set exclusive: Limited-edition Jade Dragon t-shirt, the uncut Secret of the Jade Dragon (see below), 15 minutes of footage from the never-completed movie Return of the Jade Dragon (which would have followed Death, and was canned when the director walked off over script issues -- The Jade Dragon Lives is a rather changed rewrite), concept-art galleries, storyboards, additional making-of documentaries, a historical documentary on the life of Aoi Kitsuki, Jade Dragon original soundtrack, and special offer to preorder Revenge of the Jade Dragon at a discounted price.

Rating/Content: Most films would be rated R for violence, drug use, strong language, strong violence, gore, and/or sexual content. However, Secret of the Jade Dragon was cut for international release as an experiment, and would rate a PG-13 for violence, language, and implied sexual themes. The box set's uncut version of Secret would have rated an R.

Hype: Commercials for Revenge of the Jade Dragon will have an additional few seconds tacked on to them, with the message that the previous Jade Dragon movies are available separately or as a special collectors' memorial box.

K-Films Inc., producers of Revenge of the Killer Sopranos, release the film on DVD (and VHS, for the less techie types :D) in weekend 6. For those who've already forgotten the film content, it's this:

Movie Title: Revenge of the Killer Sopranos
Movie Genre: B-movie spoof comedy
Movie Summary: A bunch of opera singers and Mariah Carey clones, angry at not getting their 50% pay rise and their Evian mineral water in the backstage area, take revenge by using their vocal 'talents' to wreak havoc on Las Vegas by breaking wine glasses and windows everywhere, with the police hot on their tail. Their chauffeurs are involved in the obligatory high-speed cop chases.
Budget: 31m kaks (US$14.7m)
Special effects: This is a B-movie spoof, therefore very few.
Director: Itasae Murritiko. A student of film studies and music at Farela University, she was a singer and pianist well-known in Kaze Progressa before her attempts to become popular in other nations foundered on the strength of support for Mariah-esque window-shattering singers. (Itasae was an alto reknowned in Kaze Progressa for her deep, sultry voice.) This is her directorial debut, a satirical attack on this dichtomy that higher is better.
Running Time: 74:23. Short and sweet, so more screenings for me.
Rating: G (no, not the highest note sung in the film, though not a bad guess. That would be F#.)
Hype: It's scary... even with your eyes closed.
Additional comments: Features different voices for the singing and the acting in all but one of the female leads - Kata Macaga, scarily-high lead singer for Monaa, also an actress.

DVD extras include a live performance from Itasae (performing two songs written for men) and a comic description of the concept of 'natural frequency', plus Itasae proving she can't hit those scarily high notes herself.

Hype video for DVD (lasts 25 seconds):

[Close-up shot of wine glass on restaurant table]
Voiceover: Take a good look at this. It won't last.
[Scarily-high singing voice is heard and the glass breaks.]
VO: I did warn you.
[Scene of singers demanding 50% pay rise and extra perks]
VO: Because if these girls don't get everything...
[Scene of multiple broken glasses after restaurant closes]
VO: ...there will be nothing left...
[Chauffeur/cop chase]
VO: ...except for an endless diet of car chases.
[Name of film shows up in big letters with 'Coming to DVD/VHS weekend 6' in smaller letters]
VO: Board up the windows, and get Revenge of the Killer Sopranos on DVD or VHS in weekend 6.

Movie Title: The Martyrdom of Constantinople
Movie Genre: Historical
Movie Summary: Covering the events of the brief reign of Constantine XI Palaeologus, the last Roman Emperor of Constantinople, the film primarily focuses on the Ottoman Sultan Mehmet's siege of the city. Some critics have claimed that the film's portrayal of Mehmet's Turkish army as a "jabbering horde of insane fanatics shouting Allah Akhbar incessantly" (in the words of one critic) is unfair. Stand-out scenes include the Emperor Constantine and his knights saying their goodbyes to each other before the final assault, and the Emperor discarding his Imperial Regalia as the Turks swarm into the city, joining the defenders in person as a common footsoldier, to die with his men.
Cast: Philip Antoniou (Manifest Destiny, The Sun King) as Constantine XI Palaelogus, Thierry d'Or (Sangraal, The Song of Roland) as Fatih Sultan Mehmet II.
Budget: 143 million ducats ($343 million US approx!)
Producer(s): The Ministry of Cultural Development's Films Bureau
Special Effects: Constantinople circa 1453 has been recreated using extremely detailed computer graphics combined with massive sets.
Director: Robert Hiekos (The Song of Roland, Emperor of the Romans)
Running Time: 3 hours, 17 minutes
DVD Extras: A 30 minute documentary about the making of the epic. Another 30 minute documentary about the actual history of the fall of Constantinople and the founding of the Knights of the Order of the Pantocrator. Genealogical trees for every Byzantine Emperor, lists of Popes, Sultans, and various other more minor figures associated with Byzantine history.
Rating: The film was rated C for Compulsory by the Ministry of Cultural Development upon its theatrical release. It contains violence, gore, sexual themes, brief nudity, and mild sexual content.

Although often dismissed by critics as a propaganda film, the Martyrdom of Constantinople is a huge budget epic with a cast of thousands of extras, lucious visuals, and exciting battle scenes. The cast is exceptional, and the defenders have a tragic air about them. Although they are brutally and utterly defeated, their dignified end has an almost triumphant ring about it. It is extremely long, perhaps too long, but it is without a doubt the finest example of Pantocratorian cinema.

Movie Title: The Dream Within

Movie Genre: Action/Drama/Horror/Sci Fi/Fantasy

Movie Plot Summary:
In humanity, there are a few random members of society who have access to a new "world" all together when they go to sleep at night. They inhabit this world, and when they fall asleep in it, they awaken in the real world. However, when an evil man (Sid Kusky) discovers a way to force himself into the Realm, he begins killing people there. These murders have a horrifying result - Anyone killed in the "dream world" dies in real life as well. After his girlfriend (Anette Boosalis) mysteriously dies, a young police officer (Star - Dagr Ateunde) pays a visit to his grandmother (Alia Oleveda) who used to talk of such a place when he was younger. She tells him what she knows, but mysteriously dies the same way the next morning. Enraged, he enlists the help of an ageless physic (Trinity Cambronne) who transports him to and from the dream realm while watching over his body. In the dream world, he meets up with a girl from a far away place (Macie Hammet) who is after the same things he is, answers and vengeance. Eventually they learn that not only has the evil man been killing people in the dream world, he has been turning them into his army of dreams, attacking people from the real world in their minds with them. With the help of another freedom fighter (Leif Gadalavarov), he and the girl fight the army of dreams, but the third member of their group betrays them in real life. The evil man, who turns out to be the police chief, slaughters the physic as well as the hero's phyiscal body in the real world. With time running out, the hero kills the traitor and then makes his way towards the evil man, and in a huge climatic battle, he kills the evil man while avoiding temptation to give in to the army of darkness and kill the girl instead. Rolf Balcos - Famous director with a list of works too long for any post. Him and his brother Liger Balcos are the most famous movie directors of the present time.

Rating/Content
Brief nudity - When the girl returns battered and bloody, her thong panties are showing along with her left nipple. For effect of course...
Strong Language - The hero, the evil man, and the traitor continuously spout off. Only 10 Fuck's...but 45 others...
Strong Violence - The whole movie is violent, with murders and the war with the army of dreams
Gore - Blood is everywhere as well as guts, brains, and mutilitated humans. (Thing some Resident Evil, some Starship Troopers...different styles)
Sexual Content - The hero and the girl have sex, and while no crotch or anything is shown so that it wouldn't get a dreaded X rating, the implications are huge
Pervasive Language - Some jokes are made at the beginning but this fades as the plot becomes more serious
Disturbing Themes - disgusting murders, dream killings, dream zombies, real world-dream realm connections

Hype Labled as one of the best non-holographic interactive movies in the last decade. Non-holographic interactive movies are a dying art in Steel Butterfly.

On confirmation of topping the DVD chart, with nearly $25m in sales, the cast of Revenge of the Killer Sopranos met at Itasae Murritko's house for a singalong. Itasae was at the piano, singing in her usual deep, sultry, husky voice, and Kata Macaga led the other singing members of the cast into a high-pitched series of background squeals.

An estimated 25 wine glasses and two windows were broken at a cost of around $5,000 - peanuts compared to the DVD and cinema takings.
