The Dead Milkmen were a progressive sort of punk rock band that recorded in the 80's, mostly. They had the damn strangest sound you'll hear anywhere, and "The Thing That Only Eats Hippies" will always be a classic.

I, for one, am rather surprised to see someone else who knows who they are/were. I dont think I've met anyone else besides my uncle who listens to them.

i wouldn't call them prog punk, more punk folk. fiddles and all that. great band, though i wonder: are you really young or am i getting that old, where uncles are listening to bands i grew up on?

that's the best thing ever. my parents would never let me, which wouldn't be an issue except of the good chance that i'll kick it before they do (stupid living in a nation where i'm hunted like a dog).
