the nations of the smoke ring are undertaking, what is perhaps the largest project ever. the construction of a new smoke ring, project novus aeris orbus(1) (project naor (na'-or)).
project naor will consist of 5 stages
1. scouting and locating suitable binary systems. requirements as follows:
- main sequence star, type k9v to f2v
- in binary with a neutron star
- suitable mass in orbit with the neutron star
- no territorial complecations
2. building the gas torus
- basically hauling a suitable volume cometary bodies into orbit around the neutron star and let them melt.
3. seed the gas torus stage 1
- at this stage the torus, is a mix of gases. various photosyntheic microorganisms will be introduced to shift the atmosphere to earth standards
4. seed the gas torus stage 2
- introduce integral trees and puff-ball jungles
5. populate
- move the people in and build mcd's everywhere.
