There are five international airports in Ariddia; the main one is Rêvane International Airport, in the capital city (airport code: REV).

The country's only airline company is state-owned: Ariddian Airlines. It is Ariddia's main link to the rest of the world.

State-owned Brotherhood International Airlines is the only airline allowed to fly inside Brotherhood airspace, except some trusted airlines from my allies. Cairo International Airport is the most important airfield.

Offshore is too small for aeroplanes to land. We do have one heliport pad (Offshore Intenational Heliport, code: OFF), and four helicopters link us to the world (Offshore Helilines). Helicopters from other nations may of course land as well.

Imperial Airports:

There are no "Airports" of such description, but there are plenty of Spaceports located within the mainland. there is one located on a Military base on D'tar island, but that is classified and secure.

The main airport is Alpha 1, located in the dead center of TIN.

Imperial Air Companies

Imperial Air is our main company, transporting passenders via anti-grav transports to many other allied and friendly nations.

We have recently signed a deal with Virgin Air (Yes-that's his nations name!) to transport passengers to even more remote areas of the Earth. But Imperial Air has the monopoly here.

Only three major airports in the republic are designated international gateways:

Arugula Capital International Airport (located just outside the national capital Arugula in west-central Ruccola) - ACI

Porto Verde International Airport (the international airport of the main northern port city of Porto Verde) - PVD

and Scalogno International Airport (outside Scalogno, the largest city in the south of the country) - SLG


International Airlines

Two local airlines are permitted to fly internationally: the national flag-carrier Air Ruccola and its main rival Ruccolian Airlines, which has a much smaller market share.

The Serlin Airfield is our main airfield, it is also our main airstation for our blimps. It was only one runway, a couple of hangers, a large blimp hanger and seaveral wharehouses. It does have a large Victorian 'terminal' building.

There is a large cargo only airfield at Springhill where many air companies are based.

The 'airlines' as such are several different companies, mainly shipping companies. Thou there is the Imperial Air Force, but thats military.

The nation is served by its privately owned National Flag Carrier Lowcountry International Airlines with connections worldwide. About 50 other International Airlines from around the world also provide service into Lowcountry International Airport.

Named after Hell Bovines' revolutionary hero, this beautiful airport is situated at the capital city, Moo Moo Farm, and it has a contradiction: It has an stunning landscape full of trees and plants, and works with solar energy, but on the other side, visitors can't enjoy the landscape too much because they are too afraid of crashing, as the airport doesn't use any radars and the pilots have to rely on their senses to land. (consequences of the imploded economy)

National Airline (there is only one, state-owned, airline as private property is outlawed):

*National Bovine Airlines (Aerolineas Nacionales Bovinas): The only national airline of hell bovines, it consists of a couple of old sovietic planes and a bunch of blimps and choppers. Most of its vehicles are eco-friendly.

Port of Portland Raysia [PPR] - Our main Port is of course Portland, which is basically the hub for all international affairs. Almost every plane that comes from another nation passes through this router port.

Ashland Raysia [ALR] - This whole city is one big airstrip. You will see hundreds of small planes and many larger planes and Zeppelins flying overhead anywhere you go. This Industrial Super-City is where most international cargo shipments wind up.

John Taylor International [JTI] - This is one of our larger Civillian air ports, located in the heart of our capital city, Vancouver.

Gordon B. Hinckley International [GHI] - This is by far our largest airport, located in our largest city, Raysia City.

There are countless other airports, upwards of 150 airstrips capable of landing large jet-airplanes.

There is only one international airport in Yn. This is due mainly to the fact that no one wants to come here... Lenoc International Airport (LEN) is situated outside the small village of Lenoc. It consists of a single runway, and a single building, but is surrounded by barbed fences and is guarded by soldiers at all times. Albeit small, the airport is modern and well equipped. Any Yn citizen wanting to fly out of the country is looked upon with suspicion and has to wade through a LOT of red tape, but there are few restrictions on flying in.

The only international airline company is Yn Air International. The company has a single plane, flight YN-001, a somewhat antiquated craft with Yn's flag painted on the tail fin. It can seat four passengers in business class and sixteen in economy class. If Yn Air International connects Yn to your nation, chances air there'll be one flight a month, at most - but you should be able to get on board without booking. The plane is rarely full.

Photos of plane YN-001 are treasured by collectors of such things. If you see it in an airport near you, be sure to take a snapshot. ;)

Saint John's International (CSJ): A major Airport recently constructed in a Suburb of the Largest City in TOC.

Archbishop International (CAB): Another recently constructed Airport. This one outside the Capital City.

Airliners:

Angel Wing's Airlines (AWA): International Government owned Airline. Flies mainly to Africa, Southwen Asia, Australia, and the Middle East. Expanding it's grid to the European Nations on the Mediterranean Sea.

Sarenity Airways (SAW): Regional Airliner, owned partly by the government, party privatised.

Trans Roania-Oppressive (TRO): The Trans Roanian Airlines is a project TOC is working on to increase civil trade and transport between TOC and Roania. It would fly express between Roania and TOC. And would probably fly to Asian countries in between TOC and Roania, like Japan, China, and nations of Indo-China.

Virgin Atlantic is a cut-price airline who recently began large scale investments in NS after the airline industry in the real-world collapsed due to 9/11.

Specifics as to what the deals mean and how far they go are unclear at the time as the agreements have yet to sustain any formal challenge.

As a belated part of the effort of building a sports complex in the city of New Montreal, Mirabel airport has been built by the new Paladin Complex. It accepts regional flights and international charter flights (such as might be used by visiting sports teams)

There is only one airport in our country capable of landing jets, Tiga Burung Airport (Kuala Terbang Tiga Burung, international air code KTB).

Although jets are welcomed from other countries, we rely exclusively on Zeppelins and hot-air balloons, as these are better for the environment and have more Olde Worlde Charme. International air service is operated by the Tanah Burung Zeppelin Cooperative (Koperatif Kapal Terbang).

International airline alliance

AnsettAustralia will attempt to setup a global alliance of complementary airlines to boost business for other member airlines and maximise passenger comfort, safety and satisfaction. This alliance would be called the Star Alliance.

There would be one global rewards system introduced; Global Rewards. It would be expected that most airlines adopt the system, unless they don't want to convert from existing programs. If that would be the case, then points would be reciprocal, and points from Airline A would be valid on Airline Z etc.

The Star Alliance will endeavour to produce an integrated, efficient and client-friendly service. There will be codesharing flights, automatic baggage transfer between partner airlines and travellers would only be required to check in once, minimising delays and maximising convenience.

For example, John Citizen books his holiday with Ansett to travel to the UK. Ansett doesn't fly to the UK, but he books Ansett "flights" all the way. He checks in once at Presario International airport, where he checks in his bags and gets one boarding pass, for his Ansett flight to Korolevu. At Korolevu he changes planes, for a Virgin Atlantic flight to the UK. All his bags are transferred, and he hands the same boarding pass he got at Presario to the gate staff at Korolevu.

Any airline may apply to join the alliance, with membership to be confirmed.

The taxi drew up outside the open but barb-wired gates of the small airport ground. Aya took a deep breath, slipped the required amount of ynits into the driver’s hand, and stepped out. The weather was good in these early hours of the morning; nearby, the sun was still rising above the village, lighting the sky with pale reds, pinks and oranges. Aya walked through the gate. The place seemed virtually deserted, but two soldiers appeared almost the moment she entered.

"Ticket and passport please, miss."

She fumbled in her pocket and drew them out, handing them over nervously, without a word. Equally silent, one of the soldiers checked them and handed them back. She walked across the paved space leading to the airport building, and inside, and looked round. She had never been here before. Few people had. Lenoc International Airport was the country’s only airport servicing international flights, and only rarely did anyone fly in or out of Yn.

The arrivals board was dark. The departures board showed but one flight: flight YN-001, bound for Imitora, departure at 07:11 through gate one. Her gaze travelled over to the departures waiting lounge, a small room with a few comfortable chairs, a television screen broadcasting the morning news, and what looked like a stack of magazines on a table. There were also automatic food and drink dispensers. No live shopkeepers, though; there was no real business to be conducted here. . . She saw a soldier standing by the row of check-in posts, though, eyeing her as though watching her every move.

She gave him a hesitant smile then walked over. A lean man with a thin greying moustache stepped out from a door behind the check-in posts ad motioned her over.

"Ticket and passport please?"

Again she handed them over dutifully.

"Thank you," he said, giving them back to her. "Come with me; we need to scan your baggage."

She stood by and watched as he checked her bags, first scanning them then going through them manually, thoroughly. Satisfied, he lifted her suitcase onto a weight measure, tied a notice round it, and pushed it out of sight.

She headed to the departures’ lounge next and sat down, picking up one of the (government approved) magazines. Time passed slowly, and she began to feel strangely stifled in this all but empty airport. She leaned back and half-closed her eyes, resting a little after her early rise. She had slept only briefly on the train that had brought her to the village of Lenoc. . . Finally, a voice sounded seemingly out of nowhere, startling her back to full awareness.

"Ladies and gentlemen, boarding is now commencing for flight YN-001, Yn to Imitora. Please proceed to gate 1. I repeat, all passengers for flight YN-001 to Imitora, please proceed to gate 1 for boarding."

She stood, and shook her head. It was surreal. Ladies and gentlemen indeed. . . As far as she knew, she was the only passenger. And there was only one flight departing today. . . She slipped her cabin baggage over her shoulder and back, and proceeded to find gate one. It wasn’t difficult. All the other gates were unused, and cordoned off. She presented her ticket and passport a third time, and was on board the plane moments later.

She felt her heart beat just a little faster. This was it. . . She had never been out of the country before today; in fact, she didn’t know anybody who had. She was going abroad. . . She could barely believe it.

Her seat number was C1. She walked past the four business-class seats and reached the sixteen economy-class ones; Yn’s one and only international plane was not a big plane. She took her seat and tried to calm her breathing. Going abroad. . . She listened as the captain welcomed her, and watched the safety procedures explanations on a screen, then they were lifting off. She was indeed the only passenger. In a few hours, the plane would be touching down in Imitora, her home for the year to come. She grinned, an excited shiver coursing through her. Perhaps she would meet the student who would be coming to study at Ikyef University; no doubt the Imitoran student would be taking this same flight to Yn as it returned from Imitora.

Aya sank back into her seat with a happy smile, though trying to quell the butterflies in her stomach, and looked out through the viewport at the spectacular sights offered by take-off. . .

History
After Sept 11 and Iraq, Sir Richard Branson, CEO of Virgin decided to start large-scale investment in Nationstates. Based on his experience in the airline industry, he decided to enter the NS world with Virgin Atlantic, Virgin's star performer in the RL world.

Aircraft
Virgin Atlantic uses only one type of aircraft : The Airbus A380. The A380 was chosen for it's expandability (up to 800 seats). This leads to lower costs through commonality and ease of maintenance. Virgin Atlantic owns a fleet of 22 A380s, with all seats dedicated to Economy class. Overheads are low, with the breakeven point being 53%. (Compared to 72% for United Airlines).

Destinations
Virgin Atlantic services mainly Atlantic routes and European routes, and has also signed deals with The Imperial Navy and Ansett Australia.

The Serlin Airfield is our main airfield, it is also our main airstation for our blimps. It was only one runway, a couple of hangers, a large blimp hanger and seaveral wharehouses. It does have a large Victorian 'terminal' building.

There is a large cargo only airfield at Springhill where many air companies are based.

The 'airlines' as such are several different companies, mainly shipping companies. Thou there is the Imperial Air Force, but thats military.

Dynatech, Inc. has only one international airport, the Dynatech Central International Airport (DCA), in our capital city, Dynatech Central. It's a large and superbly equiped airport that had been dealing very well with our demands. However, due to our recent efforts to expand our trade relations with other nations, we're building new instalations in the cities of Darka and Yalus. They'll be complete soon, and will be named (and coded) the Shelsher International Airport (DSA), in Darka (named after our CEO's name), and the Lagoon International Airport (YLA), in Yalus (named after a nearby lagoon).

Until recently, the only nation with authorization to fly within our borders was Dynatech, Inc. itself, or rather, our Logistics Department. However, we're now open to intrnational flights from any companies whose nations have trade relations with us.

My nation has two competing state run airlines...one is named "Air Auman" and the other "Auman Air" as you can tell the people in charge of the airlines are very imaginative!

There are three Airports in Auman, though, since Auman is a Martian nation there is only one airport capable of supporting fixed wing aircraft as the others are meant to take on Zeppelins. The names of the Air ports are:

Virgin Atlantic proudly announce the creation of an International luxury carrier : Virgin Sapphire.

The new carrier will lease aircraft from Virgin Aerospace such as the Ultracruise SST. It will service mainly US-Europe routes, although plans for an expansion into Japan are on the agenda.

Island is a small underdeveloped Pacific nation with no airlines. We have got an airport, though: U International Airport (UIS) (there are no domestic flights in the country).

Island is a small underdeveloped Pacific nation with no airlines. We have got an airport, though: U International Airport (UIS) (there are no domestic flights in the country).

Any airline company wishing to add Island to its list of destinations would be very welcome!

We re-iterate our request... At present, we are isolated from the international community. The only way to reach us is by boat, which makes our country inaccessible to the vast majority of foreigners, and makes it difficult for our people to journey abroad.

We have an airport. All we need is a foreign airline to link us to the world.

Currently, the major airport in Krasnovaria -- and the only one that international flights leave from -- is Mindryoshin Airfield. There are plans, however, to construct a newer and larger Mestask International Airport outside of our capital.

All international inbound jet flights arrive at one of the Commonality Air Terminus', and passengers are then sent on in MI aircraft to their destinations, or via the maglev train network. Foreign airlines should note that flying in Oozewood is prohibited, exept by hot air balloon.

Above is a map of my airports. Below are the names, codes, along with minor info on each airport.

Customs capable means just that. The airport is tiny but is set up that if any international flights happens to arrive it can process it. Twenty years ago Trotsgrad was a number of city states and therefore these city states built their own international airports and have been very unwilling to give them up as it would show a loss of power...

Minor Hub distinguishes that the two national air carriers have deemed these airports the most important in their spoke and hub route schedule. They base the flights from different regions in the nation from these minor airports.

Major Hub distinguishes that this is the major airport in the nation. Note that prior to May 2005 there were 4 major hubs however 1 was completely destroyed and 2 were changed to National status due to the recent civil war fought in Trotsgrad.

All of the airlines fly into the N Y C airport (CAP) and Azure Bay Airport (ABA), part of a massive transport hub on Gateway Island, a small island off N Y C's South-Eastern coast that includes an International Airport, a major train station, a heliport, a medium sized seaport and a dock for seaplanes. These 2 airports are the only fully International ones as their large sizes in the past eliminated the need for additional ones. However, large airports in the North, East and one on Isla de el Bosque Grande (IBG), a small island far to the south of mainland N Y C, do fly to nearby countries. IBG was partially destroyed during the invasion of the island by Buben and thier allies, but when that short conflict finished it was rapidly rebuilt.
