There are no statistics on ethnicity in Ariddia. However, there is a Caucasian majority, and numerous minority groups, as Ariddia is very open to immigration. Also, Wymgans, Native Ariddians, make up roughly 30% of the population.

The name was simply given because they speak languages, which belong to the same language-family. The names, which were used before were really discriminating). This is part of the result of a census taken 10 years ago in Iuthia, the purpose of this report is to illustrate the differing species Iuthia now has among it’s citizens. Although we started out as a nation of humans, due to numerous wars and international crisis our population has become a slightly more diverse then it was a long time ago. With each race we will give a report to better understand how they came to being in Iuthia.

Humans (90%) – Humans have always been in Iuthia ever since the start when Iuthia was a completely human nation. Generally average at most things.

Elves, Light (4.1%) – These are the most likely of other species to come to Iuthia, some have immigrated due to war within their own region or persecution from others. Often called “the fair ones” though this term has yet to be condemned by their community leaders. Make good advisors.

Elves, Dark (2.06%) – You don’t find many of these due their dislike of Iuthian qualities. Though they like the large number of fortifications and underground areas. Make very good interrogators.

Elves, “Half” (3%) – These elves are the children of Human-Elf couples though they have recently asked not to be called “Half elves” as they feel they are not half of anything. Instead they often stick to one type of race or another, human or elf depending on whom they are comfortable with. Few immigrated for the reason that Light Elves have, the rest were born in Iuthia. Like humans they are average at most things, only with some other advantages and disadvantages.

Hobbits (0.6%) – Hobbits don’t make up a lot of Iuthia’s population due to their dislike of the militaristic society. The ones that do immigrate to Iuthia make good snipers and scouts.

Clanger (0.05%) – Any community that has a Clanger in it is a very proud community because the clangers only change their environment in extreme circumstances. Oddly enough, most of them have not stated why they left their home nation, nor will they say if pressed. We are unsure what they are good/bad for, but so far some have made good space personnel due to their tolerance for low gravity conditions.

Dwarf (0.09%) – Very rare because they are unwilling to leave their underground cities. The few that do turn up make excellent engineers, especially where rock is concerned.

Vampires (Unknown) – Iuthia was only made aware of such creatures after its small political dealings with the nation Rave Shentavo. After these dealing, the census gave included the answer “Vampire” as well as “other”… both have had dismal results. With Iuthia being the size it is, the experts reckon that a couple must exist and have appealed for them to come forward, but otherwise have taken no action.


In conclusion, Iuthia has become a much more diverse nation, mainly due to immigration from nations that aren’t as safe as Iuthia. All immigrants have to go through a 2-year period in the military (like all the rest of my population) as well as have a passive 1-year caution period. So far the system has worked well and much information is gathered on new races, which join (going through military tells the medical experts a lot).

Due to the inconsistent and shifting nature of Iansislean demographics, the exact proportions of anything in the Commonwealth - besides the tiny Dominion of Troobodia - can be certain. For instance, in the last census (2002), there were 30,766,251 respondents, but in the General Elections of 2002, taken scarcely a month later, there were over eleven billion registered voters. Current estimates put the actual population at somewhere between four hundred million and one point three billion. The median estimate is given at roughly seven hundred million five hundred thousand.

Naturally, in such an atmosphere of uncertainty, proper racial information is obviously unavailable. It is largely agreed upon that the largest single ethnic group controlled by an Iansislean government are the Gallagans. However, as Gallaga is a Domain of the East Gallaga Company, and thus not under the Commonwealth government proper and usually not included in the census.

Beyond Gallaga, it is commonly agreed upon that Iansisleans are the predominant ethnic group, though they are in the plurality, not the majority. Iansisleans, or ‘members of the great Shieldian race’, as they prefer to call themselves, are characterized by generally fair complexion, hair and eye color, though not to the extreme of their Noropian neighbors. Further, Iansislean can be broken down into those from the rural North Shield, who tend to be more fair, and those from the industrialized South Shield, who tend to be darker. Even beyond that, Iansisleans can be broken down into being from one of the original seven Kingdoms of the Shield (marked with an ‘S’ for South Shield and a ‘N’ for North Shield) - Shadoran (S), the Foothills (N), Vesshampton (S), Weshield (S), Thorntree (or Thortria, as it is sometimes called) (N), Upper Mansford (N), and Eastern Wyclyfe (N).

The next largest ethnic group is the Dianatranians, from the Province of Dianatran in the south-east of the Commonwealth’s main land mass. Dianatranians tend to very dark in complexion, more so that even Gallagans, with black hair and eyes. They can be further broken down into civilized Coastal Dianatranians, who are the vast majority, and the (according to Iansislean officials) barbaric Nomadic Dianatranians who wander the Province’s vast interior wastelands causing ‘trouble’ (such as protecting their land from Iansislean encroachment and refusing to abandon their native language). The Dianatranians themselves make many further distinctions between tribes and such, but none are recognized by the government or its officials.

After Dianatran comes the Gadsanians, who hail from the Dominion of Gadsan, which covers the Jaizar River Valley east of the Shield. In general, they tend to be independent, clever, and insubordinate people who give nothing but trouble to anyone who tries to order them about. However, the Gadsanians feel they have gained much by being a self-governing member of the Commonwealth - self determination and protection from the nearby Effitians, who have tried to conquer Gadsan four times in two hundred years. The Gadsanians divide themselves into ‘Delta’, ‘Midriver’, and ‘Upriver’ folks, but in general, it is a much more homogeneous society than anywhere else in the Commonwealth, save Troobodia.

Tharians make up the largest ethnic group, though wide-spread migration from Tharia to the Great Shield, Noropia and Gadsan make have skewed numbers slightly. Tharians tend to have dark skin, though in more of an olive-hue that the extremely tan skin of their eastern neighbors that Dianatranians. Native Tharian, a variant of Effitian, is widely spoken. Tharia once included Sentry Island (which has since been annexed by the Empire of the Shield). Sentrian Tharians are different from those hailing from the Tharrian Arm, tending to be more industrialized and progressive than the largely feudal, reactionary, and agrarian mainland.

Noropia, the great coal-mining dominion north of the Shield, provides the last large minority group native to the Commonwealth. Noropians tend to be very fair, to the point where some say their skin is actually translucent. Native Noropian is still spoken, but only among high society at gatherings. Like Gadsan, Noropia tends to be very homogeneous, though mass Tharian immigration (with most seeking jobs in the rich Noropian coal mines) has been upsetting the traditional balance of late).

Gallagans, specifically those who have immigrated to the Commonwealth from their native lands, make up the next largest minority. While most (ignorant) Iansisleans can’t recognize difference in appearances in Gallagans, they have had a history of bloody and violent internal race relations. Recent social theorists have pinned the basis as the ingrained hatred between the Muslims of the Delta and the Hindi from further up the river.

Troobodia is the smallest dominion, and the only one to turn in an accurate census. It has a population of under 500,000, almost no migration in or out, and an economy almost solely reliant on the herding of sheep and export of their wool. Because Troobodia has the appearance of a large, tight-knit family, they have the least history of violent race relations and intolerance.

In addition, open immigration has led to the propagation of all manner of other races and species, which usually aren’t tracked.

in each microlocation, whatever cultural influence lived in that place the longest is believed to be most in touch with the spiritness of that place and is for this reason still the most revered there

even our internal administrative boundries reflect the cultural phase boundries between the lifeway's of the land's earliest known inhabitants, who'se tribal elders continue to be honored and respected.

this may seem paradoxical in a tecnologicly advanced society but it in no way conflicts with the lananaran model and infact quite thoroughly embodies it.

one (of the many actualy) thing the overwhelming majority of carlamnarians aggree upon is that every square inch of land is in some way sacred, and virtualy all of our land use policies reflect this.

By the looks of these figures, you've got more people working in the military (combat, not including support) then you have offices making sure those soldiers get payed and fed and supplied...

Basically put, any more then about 5% of your people in the military (including support personnel) will damage your economy, and thats if you are a small nation who is very militant. More then 5% or less then you will be taking people out of the work force which means you have to cut your military due to lack of funding...
