Several Days Before The Present:

From: Admiral George Butch,Commanding Officer Covert Operations Department, Federal Republic Stellar Navy Command
To: Commodore Mitchell Blackwell
"Commodore these orders are classified until December 1st 1300 hours. You are to speak of this matter to no one except your Executive Officer and your CAG. Nomad Moon is working on a new kind of space based radar array. The radar is suppose to go with our Space to Orbit, STO, missile batteries and has been given the name Heavens Eyes. If you registered any weird energy spikes from the planet and in orbit well then it was probably it. However we are not sending you a signal for no reason, Nomad Moon has picked up a small craft in orbit around Charon. Normally this wouldnt be a problem however the craft is in orbit over the research facility. How its managed to evade your LIDAR we do not know. Not wanting to alert the vessel to us knowing of its pressance NM sent a report back to us at one of the standard intervals with the message sent in as part of the encrypted message. That was a day ago. Now your receving these orders along with your standard request from us for a situation report. We want the Colin Powell to intercept the small vessel and board it. See what they know about the Charon facility. If they attempt to run you have full permission to chase them. We'll dispatch the Kennedy with some support vessels in a few days however most of the navy is on leave due to current peace celebrations on mainland Terra. At your current speed from Neptune, it will take 4 days to arrive in orbit over Charon. In which you are to carry out your mission post haste. Report when the vessel has been encountered. Good hunting Blackwell."

Mitch groaned abit, something about George "The Pitbull" Butch made him uneasy. How someone that bullish managed not to get command of a fleet but put in charge of intelligence was something he would never understand. It was a running gag in the upper tiers of the Navy that Butch would probably use a nuke to assassinate one guy if he had the choice. Orders however were orders. Meeting up with his XO, and the CAG officer to discuss the matter as part of the daily ship rundown the three men sat in the officers lounge smoking and drinking.

"So your telling me we gotta haul ass back out to the boonies and scare away a peeping tom?" The XO Kevin Norsa looked displeased with the orders as they were explained. "And the Pit didnt give any information as to where the ship came from?"

"You know I dont like these missions, Cap. The Yorktown is suppose to be on its way out here to relieve us in a few days." The CAG officer did not enjoy the prospect of having to stay away from home any longer than he already had to.

"Listen you two, orders are orders, now it appears that whatever the peeping tom is up to is something big. They arent just sending the Yorktown. They're sending the Yorktown with the Kennedy and its Battlegroup."

"Okay that settles it Cap...I REALLY dont like these orders."

"Well Kev, look at it this way, either way we wont be alone out here in a week or so."

The John F Kennedy class Space born Nuclear Carrier would depart shortly thereafter doing flank speed toward Charon. To keep with the apperance that nothing was wrong none of the Hammerheads were launched from the SCVN-2801 Colin Powell, however weapons systems were ready for action at a moments notice.

Present-
The Carrier arrived within LIDAR distance of Charon shortly before 1300 hours on December 1st right when the orders were no longer deemd classified. The FRSN Kennedy and Yorktown had already left Earth the day before and were about five days out with a series of support vessels ranging from combat to supply ships. Of course to Commodore Blackwell that was niether in the here or now. They had to deal with this pest now. Moving over toward the LIDAR officer he looked over the young Lieutenants shoulder and mumbled to himself, "I dont see a damn thing on the scope." A cup of coffee in his right hand he moved away from the station and over toward the bridge windows. Squinting alittle he could barely make out the vessel. It had to be the vessel which was dectected by Heavens Eyes the prototype being tested on Charon.

"Okay, I dont think they know, we'ved figuredo out they're there."

"Captain, perhaps we should send then a message to haul to and prepapre to be boarded?" Came the suggestion from the XO as he proceeded over toward the radio officer.

"Haul to? Are we still on the ocean?Yes I suppose thats the right term.Okay XO, send the message."

"Aye Aye Captain." Reaching over the shoulder over the communications officer he flicked on the radio transmitter and set it to broadcast on all general frequencies. He then keyed it into his headset his left hand moving up to press an activiation button just behind the mouthpart of the head piece. "Unknown vessel, this is the FRSN Colin Powell, you orbiting a sensitive installation and are ordered to hold your position and prepare to be borded immediately." Waiting for a reply he looked over toward the Commodore he sipped from his coffee watching the vessel which couldnt have been larger than 40 meters begin to move.

"Alright XO, the ship is gonna try to make a run for it, with the rest of the solar system behind us they gonna have to try and either go around or through us. Sound the general quarters." Taking another sip from the greyish mug with a black picture of a Kennedy class SCVN and black lettering of the ships registry number and name the Commodore figured this would happen. However he did not invision the fact that instead of trying to move back toward the inner sol system, the 40km long vessel began to run toward the Kapier Belt, to what Commodore Blackwell was uncertain about. He was however certain that the Colin Powell wasnt going to wait for the Kennedy or Yorktown and was going to move forward after the vessel into the Kapier Belt...

OOC:Anyone wanna take charge of the small vessel feel free to do so.

"Unknown vessel, this is the FRSN Colin Powell, you orbiting a sensitive installation and are ordered to hold your position and prepare to be borded immediately."

It wasn`t a good sign.

Unlike their masters, their vessels were quite vulnerable. And in this case, unarmed.

Having abolished the need for verbal communication, they talked within their minds.

They weren`t supposed to detect us.
We are unable to defend ourselves. We need to escape, to alert the mothership. The raiders will deal with them.
Shall we answer?
No.

Slowly, the vessel, which measured about 46m in lenght, begun to move.

The data is incomplete. We need to return.
It is unlikely they have what we want. It isn`t necessary.
It is.

OOC:Hmmm... looks good! Too bad Z ha dum al ready claimed the ship. Its a dead ringer for a Falasmayon warp-sub! oh well, c'est la vie.

IC:The Falasmayon Patrolcruiser Argus floated through the inner edge of the Kuiper Belt region of the solar system. The ship was running routine Sol system patrols as was its obligation under the PCDI charter. (Lot of back History in that one!) And Captain Syllar was bored!

"Nothing! for day nothing except space dust and a comet! Where's the test of a warriors mettle in chasing sensor ghosts!" He raged quietly on the command deck. "This is pleb work,, and i..."

"Sir, we're reading two craft at extreme range moving towards us! One is small, less than 50m the other is a larger ship. It's registers as a New York and Jersey capital ship! The NYJ vessel is chasing the smaller ship."

"AHH finally something interesting! Plot an intercept course and send messages to the NYJ ship when were in range."

Kip "Anvil" Bell, aka Londo Bell sat asleep in his chair aboard his automated frigate, the Nightmare, cruising through the darkness of space back home, to Terra... Suddenly warning klaxons began blaring, waking Bell from his sleep. Surprised and rudely awakened, Bell sat up in his chair and glanced around. The Nightmare's AI, Sentinel quickly informed Bell of the situation...

"Londo Bell, we have three vessels moving through space. Identify one as a NY&J Capital Ship and another as a Falasmayon patrol vessel. No transponder signal from the third vessel... Scanners indicate the unknown vessel is being tracked by the NY&J and Falasmayon vessels."

"Understood, Sentinel thank you..."

"Your welcome..."

Bell immediately switched the cloaking device of his vessel active and piloted the Nightmare towards the scene...

The Argus closed to within hailing distance of the NYJ carrier and the smaller ship.

Transmission-wideband/uncoded:

"NYJ capital ship. This is the Falasmayon Patrolcruiser Argus. We do not presume to involve ourselves in an affair in which we have no business, but the Dominion claims an interest in all external affairs in the outer regions of the Solar System. May we be of any service to you?"

End Transmission

"We'll see what that gets us." said the captain. "That's a huge carrier!" thought the captain to himself. "It could likely put some big nasty holes in this ship, if it wanted to! I'll have to be careful."

"If they get into the Kupier Belt, we wont be able to follow. Damnit, get the Hammerheads out there. I want that thing disable." Commodore Blackwell still couldnt get around the fact he couldnt detect the vessel on LIDAR. The Battlecarrier attempted to maintain a relatively close distance with the unknown intruder however the gap continued to grow as the smaller vessel was most assurdly faster than the Powell. On the Hammerhead decks below the bridge, two squadrons made their final preperations for launch.

The 156th Hellfighters and the 43rd Broncos were the two squadrons on alert status for the 3pm to 11pm shift and were immediately placed into action. The other squadrons were being prepared as well however those two squadrons would be the first to launch. The pilots of both squadrons finished up with their checks and lowered the canopys to their cockpits, which themselves were lowered down onto the SA-43 Hammerheads which were sitting on the small runway.Within four minutes the hangar bay doors on the port and starboard sides began to open. The small SA-43 Hammerheads launching until the 24 fighters were all out in space.

"Captain, the 43rd and 156th have launched and are proceeding toward the direction of the target vessel. We estimate the target vessel will enter the Kupier Belt before they arrive though."

"Damnit, Helm, bring us above the Asteriod Belt. We cant go through so lets go above. Order the fighters to keep on that thing. They are ordered not to engage the craft unless fired upon."

"Aye Aye Captin." The radio officer keyed the squadron frequncies up, "Fighters, this is the Powell, you are ordered to maintain visual contact with the intruder, proceed through the Kupier belt if nessecary."

The CO for the 156th cursed under his breath as he keyed over from open communication channels over to squadron communication channels. "Okay boys, kick it into high gear. When we get into the field watch yourselves, the rocks, and if you got time to spare watch the intruder." A mixed amount of groan and replies of acknowledgement were given over the radio as both squadrons proceeded at full burn attempting to catch up with the larger Recon craft.

Aboard the Colin Powell the LIDAR officer turned halfway in his seat as he picked up a new contact proceeding toward the Carrier out of the Kupier belt. "Captain! LIDAR Contact 250 klicks out coming from the Kupier Belt." Across the bridge the Radio officer chimmed in,"Incoming message from the vessel, they're a Falasmayon Patrolcruiser...they want to know what we're doing out here, and if we require assistance."

Commodore Blackwell looked over toward his executive officer and they exchanged a brief look of, "Who in the hell...", before Blackwell said opennly "Respond with this in the offical tone, We're presuing an unknown intruder. We do not need assistance." The radio officer nodded and flicked the comm array from squadron chatter to broad channel. "PC Argus this is the FRSN Colin Powell, we are in pursuit of an unknown intruder. We do not, repeat, do not require assistance, over."

Captain Jeryhn Iosan to Officers via the Oversoul:
Officers of the Valient, we have detected ships engaging in cat-and-mouse maneuvers within the System Sol. I am going to initiate a long-distance Vox to System Anaen preceding examination. Move to Pre-battle stations in case of Alien hostility.

*Iosan closed the Oversoul Link and felt the psychic pressure of his officers ease from his mind. He opened his eyes and sighed, flicking open the LRVL (Long Range Vox Link) and connected to Anaen. After a brief moment he sent through his authoritsation codes and received Anaen's in return. Once they knew who each other were he sent his report and recevied his authorisation*

Ship-wide Vox:
"Crew of the Valient, stand by for short-jump at your pre-battle stations. Continue with your normal assignments but be ready for hostile fire. We are entering an Alien system and may be vulnerable to Xeno attacks. We will be entering the Middle-Way in three minutes but will not travel through the Warp, so no need to send out your wills"

*At the end of the last sentence the air of relief throughout the ship was almost palpable...noone liked entering the Warp, where a ship might be lost for centuries - if it ever returned at all.*

*Shortly after the ship-wide Vox the ship shimmered and entered the Middle-Way, shortly afterward it emerged near the Kupier Belt. It did not hail any of the ships nearby, but stayed motionless with armaments powered up and ready for use, but none engaged. In the launch bays pilots relaxed in their common rooms, all in their combat gear with their craft primed*

OOC: Do I detect a Warhammer 40k player in the Onarr post?

IC: "Stinkweed!", yelled Captain Syllar slamming his hand down on his command chair! "Pursuing intruder indeed! Ha! Ensign report on the chase!"

"Sir, the smaller vessel is clearly the faster of the two, and will likely outrun the carrier. They have dispatched fighter craft but it does not seem that they will be able to reach the escapee before it leaves the solar Sytem and enters the Kuiper Belt."

"Ha! we may get some activity after all! Helm follow the escaping craft, full speed, don't get between them and the NYJ ship, we wouldn't want them thinking were interfering!! and send a message to command advising of our situation, they find this interesting."

The Argus went to full speed to intercept the path of the smaller ship.

(The Argus is roughly perpendicular to the line if escape of the vessel. It's trying to get into the path of the smaller ship. Up to you how successful it is.)

ooc: Just a few things: 250 klicks (km, i presume?) detection range in space means that you detect objects a few seconds before they ram you.

then, yes, the Kuiper belt is a part of the solar system. And while i don`t know what the duration of the NYNJ ship is, i`m pretty sure it enter it for a short while without runnign out of fuel... especially since it should be able to refuel on it´s Charon base :)

One could also note that anything beyond the Pluto (or Neptune, depends) trajectory IS the kuiper belt... technically, i´m in there...

Well, anyway:

ic:

[i]This is getting a bit crowded.
They were not supposed to detect us. But they did.
They cannot be allowed to possess knowledge about our existance.
We need to contact mother.

She ship didn`t slow down. Instead, it kept it`s velocity, heading straight forward. It wasn`t a course that would bring them to their mother, though. But it allowed them to contact it.

The message was encrypted, and in their own, sophisticated language, unlikely to be decrypted. However, since it was a small ship, the 'others' would probably guess what it was about.

To mask their true intentions, they sent a message to the Falasmayon ship. They were well prepared, and had the necessary language codes.

However, the encryption was low, and it shouldn´t take the other participants longer than a few minutes to decrypt the message.

And so, while the message to the mother was sent, the other message was sent as well, covering the first one as mere 'hissing'.

"We were pursuing a peaceful investigation of this system, seeking possibilities to trade.

However, we met the wrong people... We were attacked without any reason by a ship originating from the base on that moon circling your ninth planet.

One of our two shuttles, unarmed, as you surely can see, was destroyed by them. We escaped, at least until now. Please, we need your help. Help us to escape...

"Captain, new contact on the LIDAR,no commucations have been recieved from the vessel. Designating the contact Serria Unknown."

Commodore Blackwell wasnt liking how things were going, another vessel entering the area. This was getting to be just alittle bit crowded. It almost made him wish he were doing nothing but sitting around Neptune again. Walking over toward the LIDAR officer he looked over the young mans shoulder and onto the panel screen. His left hand rasing up slightly he put a finger on the screen toward one of the moving contacts. "Lieutenant is that the Falasmayon ship?"

"Yes Captain."

"God damnit." Moving away from the LIDAR officer he quickly moved across the bridge. The XO took a quick peak at the LIDAR screen before he jogged a short distance to catch up with Commodore Blackwell. "Sir the vessel doesnt appear to be moving between us and them. " Blackwell stopped and looked over toward his executive officer. "Your right they didnt. Which means they got the message...and I wont need to yell at them..."

The radio officer turned his chair around to look back toward the two officers, "Captain the unknown vessel has sent a communication out. Its toward the Falasmayon vessel." Captain Kevin Norsa in all his years in the Federal Republic Armmed Forces never saw someones face turn as red or go as red as fast as Blackwells face did. "Can you figure out what they said?" Turning back to his station the adept communications officer who would one day be placed in charge of the entire Postal Department for the nation easily broke the message apart and played it over the bridge speakers. "YOU GET ME THAT FALASMAYON VESSEL ON THE RADIO NOW! Then...get me a targetting solutions just above the bow of the Patrol Cruiser."

The radio officer quickly moved to send a general radio message to the PC Argus. And clicked it over so that Commodore Blackwells headset was the radioset instead. "Alright Captain." Blackwell moved over toward the table on the bridge where a mixture of LIDAR information and inputted information created a status display around the carrier which was updated in real time. "Cruiser Argus, this is Commodore Blackwell of the Federal Republic Stellar Navy, do not, repeat do not continue with your current course. You've been already told once, this is twice, dont press your luck Argus.Blackwell out." The radio officer taking that as his sign to switch from the radio to interal communications.

The weapon officer a Lieutenant Commander looked up and cleared her throat, "Captain we have a targetting solution for a warning shot over the Argus. With the 2 Tw Gun." Blackwell turned his head slightly to look back over toward the WO and nodded his head slightly in acknowledgement, "Fire the warning shot. Lets see if they get the message."

The bow located turret began to turn its barrel raising slightly, a single golden streak of light could be seen fired from the cannon streaking across the void of space and missing the Argus on purpose. The beam going just over the dorsal section. It was meant to be a warning shot and as Blackwell watched he could only hope that the Argus would get the message.

"HOLY SHlT", screamed one of the pilots from the 156th as he saw the sight from the left side of his cockpit. "The Powell's firing. What the hell is going on?" The lead pilot turned his head to the side before looking forward once more, "Doesnt matter, if they need help they'll call. We're going to enter the AB soon." They watched though as the Recon ship disappeared into the Asteriod Belt. Of course being cautious they cut their engines down to 50 percent which was still moderately fast but they wouldnt be catching up to the intruder anytime soon. "Keep your eyes peeled folks. It could be anywhere out here..."

The golden beam lanced across the bow of the cruiser overloading the secondary communications relay and burning it out.

"New York and Jersy vessel this is Captain Syllar of the Argus. As you undoubtably know we have recieved communications from the vessel you are pursuing. We feel that their claims are warranted and you are in serious breach of international code of conduct and are in serious need of reconsidering your actions. However, we realize that in force you have the upper hand here. Let us hope that our positions are never reversed. Argus out."

The Patrolcruiser began to back off from the scene. It proceeded to a distance of several clicks from the small vessel but continued to follow them on a parallel course. "Now we wait." said Syllar with an ominous grin.

At Grenada, current overall command center of the Sol System Task Force and the Sol System Protectorate Zone, Lord Reynard Adonis, Marshal of the SSPZ has taken time for a quite lunch in his study surrounded by reports from around the Sol System. There comes the chime of the door.
"Enter" says the old warrior.
A young lieutenant enters, his eyes grow wide for a moment, as most new officers do when they visit the Lord Marshal's study and find it to be spartan in all respects.
"My Lord!" he says as he salutes.
"At ease, Lieutenant. Now why do I have the honor of a visit from the on-duty communications chief officer?"
"My Lord," the lieutenant says uneasily, "we have received a priority communique from a Falasmayon ship operating in the Kuiper Belt region."
"Do you have a situation report?"
"Yes, My Lord," with that the lieutenant hands Adonis a comp-pad with the loaded files. After a few moments Adonis puts the pad down and with a control panel on his desk brings up a tactical projection of the Sol System.
He access the indepth deployment reports on the Pluto planetary system and finds what he is looking for.
"Excellent, the convoy for Alpha Centauri has already jumped," he turns to the Lieutenant.
"Contact the HMS Majestic," Adonis says gesturing to the projection of the heavy cruiser group. "Tell Captain Adams to take an in-system micro-jump based on the Falasmayon coordinates given us. He is to inform the NYJ commander that the Falasmayon ship enjoys the full rights and protection of a PCDI vessel and that he is to stand down at once."
"Yes, sir."
Adonis then brings up the projection of Saturn.
"And tell the HMS Valiant to ready itself for a possible jump to the Kuiper Belt. Just in case New York and Jersey decided to agitate the situation further."
"Yes, My Lord," with that the Lieutenant leaves. Adonis sits down at his desk and looks at the map, suddenly his desire to finish the simple beef sandwich has vanish. He looks at it and then carefully sits it off to one side and devotes himself fully to the reports.

******

Nearly 30 minutes later exit points from jump-space appear near the Falasmayon vessel. From the three jump points exits three heavy cruisers, four destroyers, and twelve gunships. An all comm bulletin breaks across the vessels.
"New York and Jersey ships this is the HMS Majestic of His Majesty's Star Armada. The Argus enjoys the full support of the Proxima Centauri Defense Initiative, and after reviewing our information we see no reason for the continued hostility of your command. You are requested now to leave the Argus be or risk the animinity of the PCDI. We await your response."

The message from the Argus was recieved at Macragge the Falasmayon Naval Command Headquarters.

Lord-Admiral Carrik sat his desk reading the report brought in by a junior officer. The situation in the outer Sol Sytem was interesting...unexpected, but interesting. If he knew Lord Adonis then Carrik bet that Valinon would respond with at least some sort of backup for the Argus. Valinon was not known for deserting it's allies. However, the Dominion could not afford to appear unable to protect it's own ships.
The Warcarrier Hausefeld was nearly brand new, the last carrier of a naval build-up that had more than doubled the size of the Falasmayon navy. Now the ship and her 3 destroyer escorts powered out of the Macragge shipdocks. They reached the edge of planetary gravity well and streaked into warpspace in streaks of red-shift light.
The Lord-Admiral watched the ships depart. He knew they weren't nearly a large force, but he also knew that New York and Jersey would remember the name Falasmayon for a long time to come. Of this he meant to be sure. He turned from the observation windows and went to inform Captain Syllar of his next move.

(The ships are in Proxima Centauri space so they won't be there for a while, at least an hour. And there's still a good 30 min. before the Valinon ships get there.)

"Drop the Hammers..." Commodore Blackwell said as he watched the situation unfold negatively. The executive officer moved behind Blackwell and lowered his voice to a whisper. "Commodore, we've got to keep on our mission. We cant slow down, whatever that vessel was doing we've been ordered to stop them. Now we still have two squadrons chasing them, we can slow down and confront them, but those squadrons could be running into an ambush. We should call them back" Stepping back slightly Blackwell turned to him and lowered his voice down to a whisper as well, "I know Kevin, we're outgunned right now arent we?". The XO slowly nodded his head, "Commodore, we could probably take out one of those Heavy Cruisers with a few shots from the KPW, and those Gunships wouldnt be much of a problem, but yeah we're undergunned right now. We wouldnt be able to get those Destroyers."

Blackwell nodded slightly and moved over toward the Radio Operator slightly leaning forward. He reached ahead and keyed the transmit button, "This is Commodore Blackwell of the Federal Republic Stellar Navy Vessel Colin Powell. We are chasing a vessel that intruded over our space for several days. The Argus got in the way of our operation. We advise your vessels to stand down and return to where they came from, and take the Argus with you." Depressing the transmit button he looked down toward the radio officer, "Get me the nearest Menelmacari Battlegroup. Lets try and even this playing field. And then get me the Kennedy and Yorktown Battlegroups. They'll just have to use their Eckerly drives and burn some fuel."

The radio officer nodded and switched from open broadband to light encryption on another channel normally reserved for SATO allied space vessels. "To any nearby Menelmacari Warships, this is the SCVN-2801 Colin Powell, a Federal Republic Stellar Navy Vessel, we require assistance at..." going over the standard transmission routine Commodorre Blackwell finished with that tansmission and the radio operator quickly switched over toward a secure line to the SCVN-2800 FRSN John F Kennedy,"Kennedy, this is the Colin Powell, we hope your not near any major gravitational sources because we need you guys and the Kennedy here, now."

Admiral Fletcher had his command on the Yorktown, he knew Blackwell from the naval academy being only a year ahead of the Commodore, and he knew his file well. Normally the Colin Powell was part of the Yorktown Battlegroup but almost all of the navy was recall to Terra for celebrations back in NYNJ. "Blackwell, this is Admiral Fletcher, hold tight, we'll be leaving Jupiters graviational pull in a about 30 minutes. Try to hold out for as long as possible. Do not repeat, do not provoke the first shot. Stare them down if you need to."

The celebrations stopped as reporters were began to send messages back to earth from the Colin Powell. It was standard practice for reporters to be on Carriers for news purposes as Space was one of those things that just interested people back home. And this was definately forming to be a news story. Back in NYNJ the first reports from the Colin Powell were already showing up on the news channels.

Aboard the Colin Powell, the launch bays on both sides of the carriers began to open. When all 52 were open they began to launch the first of the SA-43 Hammerheads. The process would take nearly 30 minutes as there were still 168 of the multi-purpose attack craft on the Carrier. The crews remained at battle stations and the Powell manuvered itself slightly so that the bow of the ship faced on of the Cruisers. The Kenetic Particle Weapon(KPW) aligning itself to aim at one of the Cruisers. While the smaller guns each began to turret and track different vessels. The two boxed Phalanx/Torpedo Launchers began to aquire targeting solutions across the board but not solid locks.

Aboard the Majestic Captain Oppenmier drums his fingers and listens to the comm traffic captured from the NYJ ship.
"Captain, we are getting an energy spike," Oppenmier steeples his fingers.
"A carrier against a heavy cruiser," he mummers to Wellis, the ships AI, "someone is stupid or underestimates us. Wellis, ready to deploy your Mobile DOS system."
"Yes, Captain," Oppenmier turns to the comm officer.
"Hail the Valiant and the rest of the battleship group Saturn and tell them to prepare to jump. More than likely we will need them. And get me an open comm channel."
"This is Captain Oppenmier of the HMS Majestic, Commodore Blackwell. Regardless of your chase, the Argus initial assistance call was anulled when it tried to manuver away from you and your target. It is not the fault of the Argus that a smaller, faster ship imposed it between itself and your ship. The situation did not warrant firing in the direction of a neutral ship of the PCDI. As for your powering of weapons systems aboard your vessel, I would suggest that you stand down. If you continue with this course or fire upon us I will have no choice but to retaliate, and report this matter the Lord Marshal Adonis."
He closes the link, "Have all ships bring weapons to bear. Ready fighters to deploy."

"Cruiser Majestic, this Carrier is more than capable of handling itself and incase you didnt realize, our weapons had been powered up. Now you can continue with this standof and the moment you fire upon us its an act of war, or you can move out of our way and allow us to continue on our present course. The Argus was given a warning shot, thats a lot more than what others would do to those who get in the way of some of the larger Stellar Powers." Blackwell let go of the transmission key and looked back toward the direction of his Executive Officer.

"Lets see how Captain Oppenmier feels about his chances against an Elven Dreadnaught." Captain Norsa chuckled alittle and looked down toward the direction of his watch, "Commodore, the Kennedy and Yorktown Battlegroups should be leaving the graviational pull of Jupiter anytime now. Using the Eckerly drives it should take them another 30 minutes to arrive in the area. Hopefully the Menelmacari show up soon...either them or the Kennedy/Yorktown BGs.."

Blackwell nodded and waited for a response, it appeared as if this was going to turn into a showdown.

They seem to be confused.
They are ready to fight.
I`m sure mother will take care of them.
Let them fight each other first, mother will do the rest.
No. If we strike now, we may prevent an even larger concentration of ships, perhaps creating a war Between them.
A war is not suitable for us. We need this area free of intruders, to find what is our masters possession.

The discussion went on, while the shuttle was slowing down to prevent collision with the asteorids.

Still, it was a risky game.

Suddenly, a beam of static arrived at the shuttle.

Nothing suspicious about it, except that some parts of it didn`t exactly look like static... they were a fair bit too regular...

They will be here soon.
They shall suffer from their inferiority.
They will fall.

For another few moments, the discussion about what to do went on, however, finally, they made a decision.

"We are sorry. It seems like our open communication with you brought you into trouble.

For that, we apologize.

However, we`re sure that is is clear of what kind the.. people that fired at us and you are. It is necessary to take early action. Unfortunately, we are not able to support you in any way, since we`re unarmed. However, we may be able to play the bait, so that you have a chance to hit them while they`re not looking.

Of course, there are rather high political risks in such an action, as war is always a bad option.

But then, have we a choice? shall we wait until thy grow stronger and force the entire sol system under their boots?"

Edit: ooc: damn... theoretically, DA would have a fleet nearby (33 ships at neptun), but i tend to stay away from two nations- one player situations, so i assume they have something else to do *cough*

OOC:... Uh this got really, interesting really fast! For the record... I wasn't exactly trying to promote an international incident, but whatever... :? Out of curiosity I guess we just skipped forward in time an hour so that all the ships that were sent would be there? I thought we'd end up waiting a bit. oh well moot point now!

IC: The Argus recieved the message and beamed severly encoded copies to all Falasmayon and Valinon ships in the area. After a few moments the following things all happened roughly simultaneously.

1. The Argus moved to join the Falasamyon group.

2. Fighter crews and weapons teams in all the Falasmayon vessels were put on alert for immediate deployment.

3. The following message was transmitted to all vessels in the area.

"I am Fleet-Admiral Ferias, Commander of the FNV Hausefeld. Falsmayon has no intention of provoking an international incident over this situation. To that end we will not attack unless fired upon, and we will overlook the unwarranted attack by the NYJ ship. However, we see no reason for the unknown craft which has precipitated this situation to be harmed. They have informed us of their intentions in this area, and we can only assume that the actions of New York and Jersey have prevented the craft from communicating those same intentions to them. Falasmayon considers this to a serious case of international and military misunderstanding on the part of New York and Jersey."

On a seperate transmission to the Valinon group,

"Be on your guard my friends. I think there may be more to that small ship than meets the eye. I think it is quite interesting, that they are so intent upon having us help them. And that they propose we attack the NYJ. They may have an ace up their sleeve which we cannot see."

OOC: This is getting pretty cluttered. I think we all need to post exactly what ships we have in the area, and what's on the way.

Captain Oppenmier watches the Federal carrier, "They are calling in reinforcements no doubt. Resignal the Valiant, if the they do manage to drag in more forces we can turn this over to Rear Admiral Sheridan and we will see how they like facing heavier fire power. And get me channel to Fleet-Admiral Ferias."
"Ready, Captain."
"Admiral," Oppenmier says as he the transmission is secured, "I am Captain Oppenmier of the HMS Majestic. Lord Marshal Adonis received the distress call from the Argus, but we had no idea that your high command would be deploying forces from Alpha Centauri. As for the ace up their sleeve, we have one of our own. Lord Adonis has readied a surprise for our belligerents should they decide to engage in a stronger show of force."

OOC:

Oppenmier's Escort Force, Pluto-Jupiter Commerce Route

As for the reinforcements, well we will just have to wait and see if they are necessary.

As it turned out, there was a nearby Menelmacari battlegroup, the Fifth Menelmacari Imperial Gravitic Battle Fleet, under command of Warlady Naurelin nos Fithurin of the dreadnought Mormecil tesseracting out-system on a patrol vector. A quick adjustment to their course... about twenty minutes travel time...

And spacetime tore itself open above Powell, a crimson maelstrom of swirling chaotic energies, disgorging thirty vessels into realspace. Menelmacari they were, all shimmering void-black and blood-red and sun-golden, sleek, deadly, graceful, and bristling with power.

More or less immediately after appearing, even as their tesseract snapped shut behind them, a transmission was sent on all bands from the dreadnought.

"This is Warlady Naurelin nos Fithurin of the Blacksword, flagship of the Fifth Menelmacari Imperial Gravitic Battle Fleet. The carrier Colin Powell and her squadrons are vessels of a Menelmacari ally, and thusly are under Menelmacari protection. No admiral has ever defeated a Menelmacari battle fleet. The Yorktown,Kennedy and Washington arriving on scene

The two Battlegroups began to slow down about 40,000 kilometers away from the Charon moon. Admiral Fletcher and Fortune on their respective flagships the three Battlecarriers took the lead formation followed by the escorting destroyers Helena, Megrathea, Samantha,Gwen and Cathrine. It wasnt long before the Admirals had gotten into contact with the Colin Powell and were further briefed. With the unexpected arrival of the Falasmayon Warships things were getting rather crowded. The Powell had recorded and resent the Falasmayon transmission to Admiral Fortunes flagship.

The response was swift, "This is Admiral Nelson Fortune of the FRSN John F Kennedy. As I fully understand there was no unprovoked attack. A warning shot is not an attack, but just that. Should Commodore Blackwell have used the largest Laser Battery on one of our Carriers..probably not. But then again we will handle that situaton. Now whatever vessel is leaving the area has spied on one of our research stations for several days, and we do NOT appreciate having to disengage from that to deal with this. "

The 156th and the 43rd Squadrons were both on their way back toward the confrontation. They would circle wide not armmed for anticapital ship warfare the multirole attack fighters were also low on juice. "Colin Powell, this is 156th Lead, we need to land soon, over." The flight officer responded as soon as he had given the light for another squadron to launch, "You'll have to wait for a few 156th, we are launching rapidly, over."

The Yorktown,Washington, and Kennedy's fighters began to join those of the Powells although they didnt nearly launch as many as the Powell each Carrier only contributing an added 48 fighters to space. Aboard the Kennedy Admiral Fortune watched the events unfold from the bridge and said to himself, "Well its their move now."

Oppenmier stares at the new arrivals coldly, "Signal the Valiant, tell them we need them."
Comm officer looks up, "Captain, Admiral Sheridan is already on his way, they should be arriving now."
Oppenmier looks up in time to see the beginnings of jump-space exit vectors forming. Six of the blindingly blue brilliances break across the black velvet of space. From them exit four battleships, a carrier, six heavy cruisers, eight light cruisers, twelve destroyers, and twenty-four gunships. Fighters already swarm around the vessels.
"And so it begins," Oppenmier mummers. "Helm, bring us into formation with the rest of the fleet."

The hologram of a man wearing the uniform of a Valinon Rear Admiral appears in the ships of Falasmayon, New York and Jersey, and Menelmacar.
"This is Rear Admiral Sheridan of His Majesty's Star Armada. The United Star Empire is not partial to threats to its own ships or those of other PCDI allies. This is international space and as such warning shots are not looked upon kindly against a ship that was trying to avoid interferring in this matter. Lord Marshal Adonis has personally charged me with handling this matter. I now request that you stand down, further acts of threatening intent will not be tolerated by the Empire, Falasmayon, or the other members of the PCDI."
Sheridan cuts the link, "Have all ships deploy Mobile DOS system drones. Meanwhile dispatch an element of Longshard interceptors to scan that ship. I want to know what is going on here."
"Yes, Admiral," with that the ships of the SSTF deploy numerous drones of the new Mobile DOS system. Each drone carries the best weapons in anti-missile and interception hardware, all are guided by the AIs of their parent ships. The drones begin to form up in a network to protect the Valinon fleet and the warcarrier Hausefeld. A trio of Longshard interceptors break away from the main fleet, in a course that will ultimately take them to the Hausefeld, but will also bring them within range to scan the vessel that is the quarry of the NYJ carrier.

OOC: Arrgghh!... darn your belligerence Ownby! Now this gets interesting :? :)

The Falasmayon battlegroup moved into formation with the Valinon ships.

"I've about had all I can take of this!"raged Admiral Ferias aboard the Hausefeld, "Were on the brink of a multi-nation war over a ship manuever! Comms, send this on an uncoded wideband!"

"Assembled ships of all nations, this is Fleet-Admiral Ferias. I find it appalling that we are about to begin blasting each other into space dust! The ships of New York and Jersey seem to think that we have some interest in stopping them from capturing this unknown intruder, nothing was further from the truth! Captain Syllar tried to use the Argus to stop the unknown ship from escaping. He did not in anyway get between the carrier and it's quarry, nor did the Argus in any way attept to hinder the chase. To the contrary, he offered full support and aid to capture the offending ship. In response the carrier shot at the Argus. Even if they were warning shots they were unnecessary and unprovoked! And now while we are busy threatening eachother, the ship which began this all, is busy escaping!"

Transmission end

"There see what they say to that!", fumed Ferias sitting down in his command chair. "And get some long-range gunboats pursuing that craft! If it's still on this side of the Galaxy!"

Two assault gunboats dropped from a bay on the starboard of the Warcarrier and blasted off at top speed after the now far away vessel.

(I'm not sure exactly where the unknown ship is!? I think it's somewhere in the Belt beating a hasty retreat, but I think we could all use a status update from Z HA DUM)

"Admiral Fletcher, can you believe they're still telling us we need to power down our weapons?" Admiral Nelson Fortune snickered slightly to himself as he looked across space, it was basically a showdown at the moment. With the arrival of even more vessels belonging to Valnion the situation was about to reach a boiling point. Of course, then another was added to the fold. "Admiral! Admiral! Incoming transmission from Charon."

"Is it from our research base Ensign?", the Ensign shook his head and responded with a "No Sir, its from a Charon Node." Fletcher grumbled abit and sucked in his teeth. "Alright Ensign, send a reply, New York and New Jersey vessels in the area to investigate unknown vessel spying on Charon. Falasmayon vessel interferred with search, was given a warning shot and called in for backup from another empire. Menelmacari vessels called in as support of Federal Republic vessels." The ensign nodded and sent the message to the Charon Node. "Then I want you to send a broad message to all vessels in the area with the following, This is the Federal Stellar Navy Flagship FRSN John F Kennedy, your ally was about to intrude on our persuit, the warning shot was to keep them from doing so, whether you like it or not is not our concern. We will not be powering down our weapons and the more ships you call into the area the more we are going to wait right here." The ensign nodded once more sending out the second transmission.

Across the fleet there was little movement, the 156th and the 43rd Squadrons were back on deck and refueling their pilots grabbing quick bites to eat and even attempting to take power naps. The Yorktown and George Washington began to launch several more squadrons as the new arrivals left from their hyperspace portal. Niether Admiral Fortune nor Fletcher wanted to hold back any punches. The Destroyers made sure they're Anti-Capital Ship Missile Launchers(ACSML) were loaded with 155mm Torpedos.

We are at an impass, it appears that you people are unwilling to admit that the Argus never meaningfully interfered in the chase, and since you seem also unwilling to rebut this claim, then I have nothing left but to assume that you deny it. "These pompous asses in the NYJ and Menelcamar are going to cause some serious trouble if they don't start acting reasonably!" thought Ferias. "They may not know it, but it is not a good idea to test a commander of the Valinon Star Navy1"

Azrael sat on the bridge of the battleship Honor, an old, but trustworthy ship that had just completed its five year overhaul, bringing it up to par with the newest of ships, wrapped in meditations on the darkened, silenced bridge. The tentative voice of his coms officer rose,

"sir, Menelmacar and NYJ seem to have made hostile moves against our allies in the outer edge of the Sol System, if trajectory is correct, then they moving towards this system, still at sublight, but that could change at a moments, notice."

"Is that so?" Azrael said, not moving from his crosslegged possition, eyes still shut as the room he had worked so hard to remove from his mind forced its way into his reality. "very well, inform high command, and requisition two battle cruisers, a super carrier, four cruisers, eight frigates and sixteen destroyers, all hands, move to primary pre-battlestations. Sitting in his office deep inside the hollow moon, Admiral Richter talked with Captain Nerelle of the Hotspur over the vid link. Oderes were being doled out, much to the chegrin of the young Captain.

"Captain, I've been told that we've been picking up strange energy signal from Charon for quite some time now. This in itself is not really noteworthy; we know that people live there. However, the recent flood of military vessels intot he area has prompted Command to act. I'm sending you to go and investigate just what the hell is going on out there. Now, remember, this isn't a combat mission. The Hotspur is big ship, and well armed, but you're way out of your league trying to fight some of those ships that are converging. Keep your distance, and reconnoiter. And come home in one piece."

"Yes Admiral. Is the Hotspur finished her refit? Are the new weapons and systems ready to go?"

"Yes Captain, they are. Which is also why you need to keep a low profile: the Omega-X has not been announced, and does not officially exist. It's only a testbed, for the upcoming Warlock project. Hopefully, everything will work properly. Departure is cleared for 0630 tomorrow. Dismissed."

Nerelle didn't like the situation at all. One ship, untreied and barely tested, going alone into a potential warzone? Madness. However, he had his duty, and he would obey his orders. He just hoped nothing broke...

*Captain Iosan lay back in his Command Array and concentrated. A moment later the ship's ACE informed him that the scan was completed. Along the screen in front of him were the details of the various races present, as detected by the scanning. Each scan had been done on only a small section of a single ship from each fleet - and very carefully. Across each screen was an image of the other race and what information the ACE had been able to find. Above each image words blinked at him: "Warning, Non-Anaen Race, Warning, Volatile Disposition". He sighed and sent another thought to the ACE, then activated the ship-wide Vox system.*

Ship-wide Vox:
"Crew of the Valient, your shipboard Artificial Consious Entity has detected the species of the Xeno ships and have determined volatile neurological status. All crew to immediate battle stations - we can take no risks with a vessel of the Anaen Naval Fleets."

*Across the vessel crew frantically ran to their battle stations. Their minds Linked to their weapons or shield connections. Across the ship lights dimmed as power was directed to the emergency core.*

So, now to continue...]

We are here.

The communication came, somewhat surprising. Unfortunately, the situation had changed. The NY&J fighters had given up their hunt, and there were chances that the shuttle would make it without further problems.

There was also the other problem... the carrier showing up, with it`s raiders ready to strike...

It would make some kind of impact... But then, the shuttle hadn`t any jump capability. And it would take ages until they would reach a position that would actually allow them to jump without being noticed. IF they weren`t followed. But it didn´t exactly look like there was a chance...

From their loose contacts to Indiastan, they were roughly informed about at least a few of the participants.

If we strike, we need to take out the Menelmacari first.
Their capabilities are comparable to ours, and we are fewer. If we strike, we need to do it fast, and surprising.
The other capabilities are unknown. The savages approaching us are too primitive to be of any importance.
They cannot be allowed to know what we search for. It´s too important.
We didn`t find it yet. How could they, who don`t know anything about it, find it?
Irrelevant. The risk is too high. Strike.

Slowly, the Raiders were launched. There were twenty of them, each of them about 100m long. The carrier itself was fairly larger, 2km long, but not exactly well- armed.

After a couple of minutes (in which the situation in normal space didn´t seem to evolve much), they were ready.

It`s a risk.
Yes. But we need to take out as many Menelmacari vessels as possible. Before they actually begin to fire back.
Agreed.

The shuttle suddenly decelerated, stopped. Then, it slowly turned around, now heading back to the NYNJ fleet... No, on a slightly different course, towards charon...

At the same time, the red current of hyperspace embraced the carrier and the twenty raiders it had launched just moments ago.

It is time.

The shuttle gave them fairly accurate data, they just knew where the Menelmacari fleet was... And where Charon was.

The carrier poured energy into it`s jump engines, and opened the jumpoint.

But it didn´t open it at the Menelmacari fleet, nor at the NYNJ fleet.

It opened it a fair bit away, above Charon.

Above the NY&J base.

If we cannot find out what they have, what they know, we need to destroy what they know.

The twenty heavy neutron cannons of the raiders begun firing...

ACE: Warning, Xeno Hostile Action Detected, Warning, Xeno Hostile Action Detected

*Almost unconsiously Iosan gave out orders, within moments the Valient was moving toward the firing raiders and their carrier. Within moments they were within effective range (effective range being a long distance in space). Then, ponderously, the Onarran Stellar Sentinel turned.*

Ship-Wide Vox:
"This is Captain Iosan, according to the Anaen Xenophobe Treaties I am ordering you to initiate bombardment of the hostile Xenotype"

*The Valient is a Tertiary Cruiser of the Anaen Stellar Navy of the Dictator class. Along its black-hulled length turrets are visible armed with short-range defence cannon to defend against torpedoes or boarding craft while its primary armaments lie toward the prow of the ship.
*The prow itself is similar in design to many oceanic ships throughout history that have been designed for ramming. Toward the rear end of the prow is a styalised eagle, a standard fixture on all Cruisers of the Anaen Naval Yards. About halfway back the prow and upon each side of it are three gaping holes, mouths for the ship's torpedo tubes.
*Once beyond the smooth, hardened ramming prow are the weapons batteries. These are identical both port and starboard. These consist of rank after rank of large guns using archaic chemical propulsion - they are similar in design to twentieth century artillery, something that is suprisingly effective in space where there is little to no air resistance to slow down the shells. These batteries take up perhaps a quarter of the ship's length. The gun arrangement consists of a single row of medium guns, followed by a row of four large guns, then another two rows of smaller guns, the rows are one below the other.
*The next quarter of the Valient are the launch bays. Upon each side of the ship are two rows, one above the other, of four large hangars from which both bomber and fighter craft can be launched.
*Behind the hangar bays are the majority of the short-range defence turrets, the engine block and the crew compartments. Also visible are the escape pods and the main troop-transport sections than can be used to deploy companies of Imperial Guard. Above this is the bridge and radio towers. Behind this are the propulsion sections - where the engine power is ejected to propel the ship forward.*

Open Channel to all non-Z Ha Dum vessels:
"This is Captain Iosan of the O.S.S. Valient, This vessel is no longer able to observe. It is required that we engage hostile Xenotype forces. Please remain out of our way while we complete our duty."

*The vox message seems strangely tinny and unnatural - not surprising, considering that the Onarran vessel is utilising a translation system that is less than perfect at its job...*

*As the crew power their weapons and machinery slides shells into position the guns begin to fire. The collumns of guns fire one after the other, delivering a full broadside of firepower at the Cruiser. The raiders are ignored - the weapon batteries not being accurate enough to successfully target craft smaller than Frigates and Destroyers.*

"Helm, bring us about! and contact the Argus. I have a special job for Captain Syllar!"

The Falasmayon group prepared to attack, turning to face to new threat.
Only the Argus moved in a differet direction. Towards the Belt.

OOC:Lets make this quick, now Onarr I've gotten a complaint about you so as this forums orginator I take it upon myself to be its RP Moderator at certain times as well. This being one of them. After reviewing the complaint and then looking at your post I have to say do it over with better detail.

*The vessel slowed, then delivered a full broadside at the carrier...*

This unfortunately will not cover it, describing your ship would be nice. The size, capabilities, not to mention weapons, as it stands the defender in your post would have no way of responding other than to say is hit So can you kindly expand upon your post or just redo it?

OOC:Dont you wish Valinon :P , Zahadum is firing on a research installation I have on Charon called Nomad Moon. Onarr is firing on the Pirate Carrier. NYNJ,Menelmacar is still basically staring down Valinon and Falasmayon vessels. That is about to however change.

Aboard the Colin Powell the closest vessel to Charon the LIDAR Officer practically jumped out of his seat, "Captain we have multiple contacts appearing just in Charon orbit! 20 Corvette sized vessels and one large Carrier. Commodore Blackwell moved across the bridge to the starboard viewports and looked as the Carrier fired down on where the research facility was located. Blackwell turned to the radio officer and cooly said, "Any word from the Research Station?" The radio officer turned his head back toward the Commdore cupping the earpiece to try and hear everything that was going on, "Sir Nomad Moon is attempt to organize an evacuation. The inital bombardment took out several of the surface defenses. The rest are about to launch."

The base had a few clustered Surface to Orbit(StO) missile batteries. The radar system it was working on was suppose to further compliment the missiles on their guidance although they could be launched with conventional radar. The inital bombardment from the Carrier had taken out several of the above ground clusters leaving only 2 of the original ten batteries. Each battery had five Sky Haven StO Missiles. The missiles were nothing more than Peacekeeper ICBMs with different guidance systems and the MIRV warhead replaced for a single explosive one. The control room was located on the research facility which was manned by 12 Federal Space Marines. "Sky Haven Batteries have aquired their targets." One of the missile techs called out as the command room shook and dust was jarred from its resting place. "What are you waiting for then?An invitation from whoever the hell is firing on us to attack them?FIRE!"

The Sky Haven missiles launched from their tubes kicking up quickly into the atmosphere the 10 missiles had a variety of targets of which only one was going for the Carrier in orbit. The base itself had no other real defense and the scientists were preparing to evacuate the station. Unfortunately another thing which was taken out during the inital bombardment were several parked ISSAPC(Inter-Solar System Armored Personnel Carriers). They would have to wait, the research station underground had some shielding by the celestial bodies surface but not much. It wouldnt take much more before damage was done to the base itself.

Admirals Fletcher and Fortune both concured on their next course of action, and moving as a fleet began to move away from the Valinon and Falasmayon vessels. Their engines kicking up to flank speed the Battlegroups running toward the direction of Charon, they were out of weapons range and would be for several minutes. The closest warship within weapons range was the Colin Powell. Blackwell looked down toward the situation board and pointed at several squadrons and toward the direction of the Frigates. "Have the 22nd, 56th, and 102nd engage those damn escort vessels. Inform all of our fighters they have permission to use the Spartan EEMs." There had been a shortage of the missiles throughout most of the navy and if they were being allowed to use them then it meant they were rather desperate. Orders were relayed and the 36 fighters of the three squadrons broke away from the Carrier speeding up toward the direction of Carriers escorts. The Powell itself began to turn toward the direction of the Carrier, mostly all of its weapons on turrets however were already trained on the Carrier, the Laser Cannons lighting up and sending one golden bolt of light after another toward its direction. The two boxed missile launchers attempted to lock onto as many targets as possible the Carrier missile tracking systems were excellent for capital ships above 250 meters in size it was difficult for them to track and hold vessels smaller than that unless they used the Phalanx II missiles, and those were more catered toward Anti-Missile than Anti-Vessel.

"What the hell is that ship doing?" Admiral Fletcher said to Admiral Fortune over the secure communications link. Admiral Fortune shook his head and then looked down toward his situation board on the bridge. "I dont know Fletcher but they told us to stay out of their way." Fletcher raised a brow and responded with another question,"So what do we do about the Falasmayon and Valinon vessels?" To which Fortune snickered over the commucation line and said, "Fvck'em if they try to get themselves inbetween us and that Carrier then we wont be responsable for any shots that miss and hit them. "

Captain Nerelle had another, sealed order that even the Admiral didn't know about. It was a secret dispatch that had been awaiting him on the Hotspur. He was to ensure no harm came to any identifiable Z Ha Dum vessels, so long as their protection was within his abilities. After surveying the situation, Nerelle knew what he could do.

First, the fighters were lauched, in preperation for immediate action once back in realspace. The breach into the material was made only a thousand kilometers behind the Colin Powell, between it and the rest of the NY&J fleet. With weapons hot, the Hotspur bore down on the Powell and started firing her foreward Beam Cannons on the Powell's engines, attempting to disable them.

Nerelle knew he could only make a single pass, so as the foreward cannons went out of arc, the unidirectional Light Beam Cannons coninued the assault on the engines and general rear of the Powell. The thitrysome Thunderbolt fighters were actually hard pressed to keep up with the speeding Hotspur, as the ship continued to keep engines at maximum. The defence grid was charged, as Nerelle knew it would be twenty painfull minutes before the jump engines were recharged. As much power as could be spared was routed to the rear batteries and the defence grid.

So the chase began in ernest.

The Hotspur, the first Omega-X class Tactical Destroyer.

The bridge of the Powell rocked as the ship was hit, the LIDAR officer screamed at the top of his lungs over the blaring emergency klaxons which signified signifficant impacts onto the hull of the vessel. The damage control teams at the same time reporting to the bridge, as did engineering and helm."Captain we have a new contact bearing 180 degrees behind us...", "Bridge this is Firefighting Team Fourteen we have fires on multiple aft decks...", "Bridge this is damage control team alpha, we're working on attempting to restore power to the engines...","Captain I've lost the main fusion engine speed is unchanged but if we slow down we wont be able to speed up again...","Bridge, Engine room, we've got multiple casualties down here, where the heal are the medical personnel?"

Blackwell cursed and spat on the bridge deck of the Carrier, lifting the cap atop of his head up and wiping his brow with his other arm he said to the bridge crew, "Folks, this isnt going to deter us one bit. CAG, get the 68, 72nd and 112th back there and raining fire upon those escorting fighters. I want the 12th and 19th squadrons following up and putting as many Spartans as they can into that damn thing. ", the LIDAR officer finished up with his report when the bridge quieted down some, "Captain, the unknown vessel is beginning to move, they're attempting to run."

Aboard the Kennedy Admiral Fortune watched the scene unfold, none of the Carriers was in range to fire upon the unknown vessel with the KPWs. The only ships in range were the Destroyers and their speed allowed them to be inbetween the two groups of Carriers. The five Destroyers in the middle were stunned when this black vessel appeared infront of them. Their confusion was however placed off to the side when the orders came down from Admiral Fortune who had assumed command of the two battlegroups. "All Destroyers, proceed to engage the fleeing warship."

The Destroyer Squadron led by the FRSN Helena began their assault by launching 10; 150mm Anti-Capital Ship Missiles. The missiles with their 2,000 kg warheads screamed forward toward the aft section of the Omega X. They werent really interested in crippling the ship but knocking out the aft weapons arrays would be rather helpful in the chase. The salvo of missiles was followed up by the unleashing of a barrage of railgun fire from each vessel. The 10 shells aimmed toward the rotating graviational section in the middle. The fighters of the Colin Powells 68th, 72nd and 112th fighter squadrons would find themselves in a quasi escort/intercept mode charged with protecting the Destroyers from any of the Starfuries while clearing a path for the two squadrons designated with firing on the Omega X with their Spartan Missiles.

The Colin Powell having lost her fusion engine was not detered in its movement it kept going forward however Cpatain Blackwell was reluctant to slow the vessel down, they were already on an intercept course with the unknown Carrier. It would still be several moments before Blackwell would be rather comfortable with slowing down. And now wasnt that moment.

Nerelle was glad when the report stated that the Powell had lost her main engines. This would mean that the Za Ha Dum carrier could likely escape, as the Powell would be unable to manouver after her. Now, he had to worry about his own escape.

Nineteen minutes.

The missiles came in, but the first salvo was small. Only ten missiles, easily handeled by the state-of-the-art defence grid. The four rear Beam Cannons begin firing on the erstwhile attackers, while the Light Beam cannons assist the Thunderbolts with the attackign Hammerheads.

Seventeen minutes.

"Helm! begin evasive manouvers. Slip five points to starboard, and stand by."

"Sir! We've got more incoming! Missiles, lots of them, dead astern!"

"Damnit, three points to port, get the lighter's in arc!"

Suprisingly quick for a ship of her size, the Hotspur both began slipping to starbaord while angling her prow to port, in order to get her aft port light cannons into arc to shoot at the missiles. It wasn't going to be pretty.

Fourteen minutes.

"It is still moving to exit the Sol System, the Longshard flight will enter to the position where they can do an intensive scan in approximately 3 minutes."
"Good," Sheridan turns to his flight coordinator section. "Have the Longshards ready their EMP burst missiles and be ready for a change in course. However, tell them to remain on their current vector until they have scanned that ship, then they are to drop to 1/3 full speed and wait for further instructions."
"Yes, Admiral."
"Get me a channel to Fleet Admiral Ferias," Sheridan says to the comm officer.
"Admiral," says the comm officer, "we have a priority signal from Star Commander Azrael of Taka. Do you want me to put it through first?"
Sheridan recognizes the name of the Takan overall commander of their space navy, "Put the Star Commander Azrael through. Meanwhile prepare to send an encoded transmission on PCDI Vermillion encrypt to Ferias."
Sheridan turns as Azrael's visage comes into few, "Star Commander, it is a pleasure."

The five Destroyers did their best to keep up with the surprising nimble larger warship. Each vessel had two, double barrel 125mm rail guns firing round after round as the automated loading systems waited only breifly for the turret to adjust itself to the erratic manuvers of the Omega X. Of course the railguns themselves could not be targeted at specific areas so they were just trying to get in as much damage as possible. The 150mm ACSMLs were reloaded and again another volley was fired however they knew better this time around and as soon as a second and third volley was ready they were launched. Of course each volley became successivly less in terms of missiles.Ten launched the first time, ten the second but only 9 in the third.

Aboard the Helena the bridge of the vessel violently shook as a fireball erupted on the portside but quickly died out as the oxygenless space knocked the fire out. What was left was a hull breach on the port side of which had affected several decks of the vessel. The CO of the Vessel a Lieutenant Commander by the name of William Gard looked over toward his executive officer before clicking on the interal communications on his head set. "Damage teams give me a report." A staticy voice responded on the other end, "Captain we've lost the portside ACSML, they took out most of the missile magazine as well." Bard kicked himself silently, he had ordered against safety regulations to remove the safeties on the missiles so that they would explode on impact and not need to arm themselves."How bads the damage over there?", "We're lucky we didnt lose the entire bow of the ship, Captain. We should fall back so they dont expliot on the weakness." Damnit...Bard took his cap and threw it to the ground before walking behind his helmsmen and placed his left hand on his shoulder, "Helm cut speed back put us as the rear of the formation. Weapons put the safeties back on, on the 150s. I dont want that happening again."

As the explosion occured on the Helena, the bridge crew of the FRSN Samantha shielded as the blast engulfed the ship on their starboard side. "Captain, radio message from the Helena, she's dropping speed and moving to the back of the formation. They've lost an ACSM tube, and they've put us incharge of the Squadron." The unanimous concensus of the COs of the Destroyers was of course "Damnit. Get me the Kennedy on the horn, we need more fighters."

The Hammerheads and Thunderbolts were basically on par with each other in terms of abilities. The Thunderbolts however did not have rear facing dual mini railguns which peppered any pursuers. Had the thunderbolts been Auroras they would have most certainly punched through the cockpit glass of the fighters. However it wasnt the case, any shots that would hit the Thunderbolts from the front would most likely nick the wings or hit the snub noses. Lucky shots from the computer assisted gun would hit the engine or the nosemounted gun however those shots would be just that lucky. The pilots of the 3 engaging squadrons found that they couldnt really bait the Thunderbolts out into open dogfights, the fighters choosing to stay reletaively near the Omega X for protection and to cover the vessel from the fire of the Destroyers. It didnt matter, though, if they didnt go for the Dogfight all the more better, and such as the 24 SA-43s from the 12th and 19th Squadron began to fire one after the other their compliment of Spartan Space to Space Missiles. Not locking on to any real specific subsystem they were just trying to go for as much general hull damage as possible.

Aboard the Kennedy, Admiral Fortune directed the fighting from the situation table, "The Colin Powell is slowing down, What's their damage?",an aid to the Admiral read off the report from the Powell, "Extensive damage to the rear decks, their fusion engine is offline it'll be hours before they get it back on operation.Even then they wont exactly have full speed once more.",Fortune nodded before he pointed toward the Helena, "How is she?", "Losing speed, the unknown vessel got a hit on the ACSM tube on their portside.","The Samantha is requesting more fighter support to help try and take down the Cruiser...", "Fine have the Yorktown get them the help they want. I want that thing either blown outta my space or crippled when it finally does run."

No mention was made about the ships of the PCDI, however the message the Takans had sent was recorded and saved. They would deal with them at a later time. Now wasnt the time however.

"Tac, whats the situation with the pursuit?"

'Two destroyers are crippled, and appear to be breaking off the pursuit. Missile threat is negligable, and their railguns are cauing minimal surface damage. Hammerheads and Thunderbolts are fighting to a draw."

"Good. Keep me informed."

"Sir! The Powell has stopped. She's breaking off her attack against Charon."

"Perfect. Now lets get the hell out of here..."

"Captain!" yelled the Comms officer, "We've got multiple contacts coming out of hyperspace, 2k astern. One of our patrol fleets. Should we signal?"

"Thats a definate negative! As far as they're concerned, we're a pirate, and they'll fire on us. Likewise, we must do the same. Tactical! if they fire on us, return at will. Try not to hurt them too badly though."

"Sir..."

"Just do it damnit!"

Eleven minutes.

The patrol fleet was a standard one, two Omega destroyers, four Hyperion cruisers, and eight Olympus corvettes. Their fighteres were deployed in a loose cloud around them, and they were moving towards Charon and the Hotspur at half speed. This was certainly a suprise.

The Argus continued it's path towards the unknown ship, now with new purpose.

On the Hausefeld command deck-

"Well, that still leaves us the problem of a major naval engagement." mused Ferias; in a significantly brighter mood. "I suppose we can let them blow eachother to bits and mop up later... yes, indeed. Send that to Admiral Sheridan, and who knows... we may get to enact some vengeance upon these insolent fools after all!"

Sheridan regards the tactical display before him as he speaks to Azreal, "Earlier, Star Commander, I would have indentified Menelmecar and NYJ as red, but now it seems they have their own problems. And it seems that their current opponents will keep their plate full for sometime. The only hostile I am seeing right now, and," he reads the transmission from Ferias, "Fleet Admiral Ferias and my own fighters are tying and end to that loop. Once the ship is safely captured by the Argus it will be taken back to Draco. Other than that my orders are to remain on station here until the other PCDI ships withdraw."
Sheridan momentarily freezes the link and turns to his flight coordinator, "Have our Longshard flight running with the Argus break off and disable the NYJ quarry. They are to make sure that the Argus gets it back safely to Draco."
"Yes, sir," Sheridan reactivates the link and waits for Azrael.

The three Longshards of Delta Flight break off and move at full speed toward the ship the NYJ forces had been trying to capture earlier. With the main fleet now between them and the NYJ force, they should have enough electronic and sensor cover to keep this undetected with the ships former pursuers.
"Lieutenant we have entered maximum EMP missile range, a lock can be establish," says the Longshard's "dumb" AI.
"Roger that Merlin," he activates his flight comm. "Delta Flight, let off first missile strike."
With that the three Longshards launch two EMP missiles each, six of the deadly missiles fly forward. Closing in on the ship, they detonate releasing a blue-white surge of electro-magnetic energy near the speeding ship the Federal Navy was pursuing.

"Another one? You've got to be kidding me." Leaning forward on the bridge rail Admiral Fortune on the Kennedy looked toward the radio operator, "Get me the rest of the Federal Stellar Navy, priority one channels." The radio operator quickly did as he was told and looked back toward Admiral Fortune, "The navy is awaiting orders Admiral." Admiral Fortune moved ahead and stood at the bridge window at the chaotic scene which continued to unfold, "This is Admiral Fortune aboard the Flagship John F Kennedy, all vessels of the Federal Republic Stellar Navy capable of acceleration through the use of Eckerly drives, you are so ordered to provided reinforcements to the rest of the Federal Navy near Charon. Admiral Fortune out."

Admiral Towne couldnt believe the orders he had just been given over the secure lines. The entire navy was going to be deployed, someone was in way over their head and it appeared as if it was Admiral Fortune. Of course orders were orders and the 2nd Fleet in its entirety began to depart from the gravitational pull of Earth. If an Eckerly drive was used near planet it would cause the vessel using said drive to literally crumple up on itself as gravitational forces exerted on the vessel would be far greater than practically anything in the universe could handle. The SCVN-2806 FRSN Lexington was Townes command vessel, for the time being he still had command of the 2nd Fleet and the remenant of the 1st Fleet, the 3rd Battlegroup having been left behind since Naval Command did not believe it would be nessecary. It was amazing how events could change in just a few hours.

"Admiral Towne, we'll be out of Earths gravitational pull in 10 minutes. The rest of the navy is progressing at Flank speed. All ships report roughly the same amount of time before they can begin to accelerate using the Drives. We should be in the Battlezone within the hour Admiral." The aid stood next to Towne holding the report in his hands. Towne nodded his head, there was nothing more he could do for the time being. Help was on the way but Fortune would just have to hold out until re-enforcements arrived.

Admiral Fortune had to wonder what to do about the United Indiastan forces, to say there was bad blood felt against UI, would be an understatement. Many scars of the Federal War against UI had yet to heal in the decades that past and with the interlopers from Valinon,Falasmayon, and Taka poking their nose in the region, they really didnt want to deal with yet another group poking their noses around their research installation. "Admiral...the UI ships are awaiting a response.", Fortune tapped his fingers on the railing and waited alittle before he gave his response, "Radio the Menelmacari, tell them about the spy ship, see if they cant try and get it. Helm contine on flank speed, we're going to use our Carriers to cover the Powell. How's the Helena?" The radio officer gulped alittle leaving the subject at hand he gave the status report, "Admiral they're doing alright, the ships are still conducting a running engagement with the unknown Destroyer."

Nodding his head slowly,Fortune crossed his arms over his chest, he did not want to deal with yet another group. He did in all honestly wanted to call the diplomatic corps and have them send a shuttle to deal with everyone, but he knew that would be more of a smartass move than HQ would have liked. Deciding against it he looked over toward the side as the radio officer began to transmit the heading and speed and last known location of the unknown scout vessel. There was still no reply to anyone else however.

"Copy that Lady Fithurin, we are prepared to engage if you are. Over."

Tarnstrom didn't liek the situation at all. Especially as the unknown destroyer had a similar profile to his own Omega. Except that it had been covered in... something. The ship was no longer a normal gray colour, but rather a sickly, shimmering black. Strange protrusions grew from it at each end, and its weapons were no longer those of a normal ship. It was disturbing.

"Com, have we got an ID on that cruiser yet?"

"Unkown sir. Its likely not much. The semi-organic nature of the hull would absorb or block most of the interference."

"Good. Steer six points to starboard slip to port. That might shake them."

Outside, the point defece turrets were working as fast as they could, knocking enemy missils and fighters out as best they could. Thus far, they had nearly a hundred percent success rate, with only a single missile impacting on the engine housing. One, two, three of the EM missiles exploded harmlessly out of range, hit by the fire of the grid. One got close, detonated, but came up short. The Hotspur was moving at close to 400 km/s, and the explosion fell away quickly. Hope was starting to creep into Nerelle, even as one of the EM'ers exploded on the hull directly, and the energy was sucked up by the hull. It was getting tense on the bridge.

Seven minutes.

[ooc. So, as far as i can see, i was attacked by a single NYNJ ship and Onarr, right? Oh, and the (missile, how funny) attack by the NYNJ base. (nevermind how Onerr immediately knew that i`m the evil guy and was 'accidentally' at a position to attack immediately <.<) Tell me if i forgot anything. Oh, and Snel. *wonders what Nanophages do*

btw, if anyone is interested at what exactly the Drakh are searching for, Here (http://www.nationstates.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=97840&highlight=) is it. (I will personally shoot, torture and cruelly abuse everyone just 'stumbling' upon that thing)

Btwm, valinon, read my posts earlier. The shuttle turned, and is now heading towards Charon.

Now, just to get this right... NYNJ is mainly firing with missiles, and Onarr with kinetics, right? Good, i love minimum losses :P (If i somehow overread something, i will edit)

Oh,a dn one last thing: I never mentioned the name 'Z ha dum'. You know i`m a hostile, foreign species, but you do not know my name. Except the Indiastani in the Omega X, that is.

ic:

Indiastan:

Nobody knew he was there. Nobody except an elected group of a few.

He was there to help. He gave them what they wanted, and he got what he needed.

He had received the news, and the news weren´t good.

Our presence here has to be concealed. he had thought. We must stop this. he had thought. However, at this very moment, it was highly unlikely this was possible. He could only hope the damage would be as minimal as possible.

He needed to talk.

---

Meanwhile, the shuttle left the small area full of asteorids, and accelerated, heading towards the carrier near charon. It would take some time to reach it, though. And, even more dangerous... they would come quite near to a few of the 'hostile' ships out there...

They are aster than we thought.
Yes. But their weapons are primitive.
Still, they can be efficient. Alter positions.

It was quite obvious that they were outnumbered. The original plan was to continue the bombardement of the NYNJ base, but that seemed to be impossible.

The ships altered their course, to dodge the incoming missile attacks. The ICBMs coming from the NYNJ base were mostly shot down, a few survived, but neither were able to actually hit the ships. That was the problem with ballistic weaponery in space: They are not faster than the enemy`s ships and they need to score direct hits in the incredible vastness of space...

The missiles coming from behind them were more dangerous. Being fired upon from three directions made dodging quite... hard.

The lack of active defence systems on their back side made it even harder.

Still all but one missile missed, however, the one that actually hit destroyed the Raider ship with it`s explosion, the radiation hitting the Raider´s atmosphere and creating a heatwave literally boiling anything on the ship.

Unfortunate.
It will become more dangerous. Primitive as they are, they will probably not have the defences to protect their base.
There is a possibility we didn´t destroy it completely.
It doesn`t matter. We have no choice.

Meanwhile, the kinetics from the Onarr ships were about to arrive. While the defense fire did some damage to them, it wasn´t nearly as effective to kinetics than it was to missiles.

The inaccuracy of the kinetics now became their greatest advantage. Scrambled as the fleet was, the kinetics could actually cover it quite efficiently.

The disadvantage was, of course, that the damage inflicted on the different ships would most likely be small.

The kinetics came in, the Drakh entire watched them... not anxiously, or frightened, but with a sense of interest.

Four ships were hit, including the carrier. However, none were destroyed, still, the carrier and one of the Raiders took moderate damage.

Our work here is done. We need to retreat, to search elsewhere. We will use our contacts on earth to find out what the savages know.

The carrier raced with energy, when it opened the jumppoint... the first Raiders, five of them, when the Drakh realised the Nanophages racing towards the carrier... the carrier that was unable to move, since there were five more Raiders in front of it that needed to get through the jumppoint...

The next five jumped, when the carrier was hit...

Moments later, the jumppoint destabilised...

five more Raiders tried to get through, three made it, two others were crushed by the collapsing jumppoint.

No.
Our brothers...

Space was illuminated with light, Charon seeing something that could be called fireworks...

The carrier slowly disintegrated...

And finally exploded in a ball of light, crushing anything near to it.

The four Raiders that were still in real space had a problem. Two of them had been damaged by the Onarr kinetics, it wasn`t exactly serious damage, but still... And they had no jump drives, were unable to escape...

One chance: The Omega X, the secret they helped the Indiastani to create...

But before doing that, they actually concentrated on another aim.

Revenge.

That was all they wanted, and the Onarr ships were ready, the nearest possible victim...

Racing towards the Onarr ships, they fired their weapons, heavy neutron emissions working just like plasma, but, unlike plasma, electromagnetic fields were unable to stop them...

The heat , the wild energy of their weapons...

They will pay for their interference.

The Argus turned to put itself in the path of the shuttle and began firing continously from its 4 dorsal and prow ion cannons. Also three fights of 6 EMP missiles about thirt seconds apart, roared out of their prow silos and began racing across the ever shortening distance between the two craft.

The hybrid...
Or another vessel. They wont be able to stand up against us.

While the Drakh were discussing the options, the six EMP missiles came in.

Not that they cared much about it... EMP had the nasty habit to work only inside of atmospheres. And unfortunately, space had no atmosphere.

Silently, the Drakh watched the missiles explode, at a range that, would they have been inside an atmosphere, would have resulted in the shuttle to be utterly disabled. In space, however, the effects were negligible.

How primitive they are...

Surprisingly enough, the attackers didn´t seem to realise that EMP doesn´t work in space. Another grup of missiles came in, and exploded just as harmless.

The Ion cannons were a different matter, though.

They don´t seem to like us.
Lets give them what they want...

The shuttle slowed down, obviously indicating that it was preparing to be boarded...

Secondly, I for one was totally unaware that EMP was useless outside of the atmosphere. It seems to me that it would be unaffected by a vacuum. Could you telegram me and say why it doesn't work outside of an atmosphere? I really have no clue?

IC: The shuttle slowed and the Argus came up alongside.

"Comms, tell our allies that we may have the ship, ask Admiral Sheridan if he has any interest in the crew of that vessel or if we only want the ship itself.",said Ferias "Then send a transmission to that shuttle, and keep everything we have trained on that craft, I don't want any suprises."

Syllar recieved his answer. Technology first. The crew was secondary.
"Excellent," thought Syllar "I wasn't interested in passengers anyway." "Tell the shuttle that they will power down all systems and hold position. Get a force beam on that ship and run a full sensor sweep, check for anything, no suprises."

The Battlecarrier and it's escorts broke with the rest of the PCDI aligned ships and moved towards the shuttle and the Argus They would arrive in about 6 minutes.

-=The bridge of the O.S.S. Valient=-

Across the ship faint cheers could be heard - the crew cheering, but only quietly as Honour would not permit breaking their masks of discipline whilst still in a combat situation.
Meanwhile, Iosan smiled to himself as he saw the destruction of the enemy ships - he knew that he was only slightly responsable for it, but every Xeno dead counted...

Thus it was that he was able to hear the warning called to him from his Surveyors...
"Sir, four incoming Xeno craft"
A glance at his Command Array proved the Surveyor correct.
"All turrets to commence defensive fire. Fighter squadrons Arbitration and Modest to take flight and engage the enemy."

Outside the ship the attacking raiders were doing a moderate amount of damage but nothing startling - the armour plating of the Tertiary Classes were second only to the Primary Classes and the Justification - although concentrated fire would cause significant damage. Then, one of the emissions hit one of the hangar openings. The result was immediately obvious - explosions erupted throughout the hangar, tearing apart squadron Modest even as they left the launch docks. Another emission destroys one of the turrets, sending the energy coursing back into the corridor, killing indiscriminantly, until the emergency doors in that regions sealed - however, before that happened a significant number of Defence Crew were incinerated and three Primary Turrets were destroyed (the energy travelling along the connecting corridors).

Back on the bridge, a startled Isoan spoke:
"What happened?"
"Sir, we've lost Port Hangars One and Three to Xeno fire. Squadron Modest has been eliminated"
"Damage report?"
"Squadron Modest, those Hangars and their crews, the entire crews of Primary Turrets P-13, 14 and 15 and the turrets themselves, several armour sections have been significantly damaged and some slightly hit. There is also a hull breach at AS-492 with several deaths at that Shield Link"
Iosan cursed and glanced at his screen, showing the Arbitration squadron rushing from their hangar to engage the enemy.
"Let us hope that the Squadron Arbitration can complete their Duty"

The Fury craft that make up the fighter squadrons of the Anaen Navy are small, black-hulled craft that have a crew of two. They are equipped with micro-torpedoes and kinetic weaponry. Their hull armour is fairly insignificant in favour of more firepower.
Their cockpit is extended in front of the main craft and the primary kinetic weaponry is located beneath it. It has wide wings that enable it to engage in-atmosphere and that also serve launching platforms for the torpedoes.

---

The Raiders continued to fire upon the Onarr ships. Their problem was that two of them had already been damaged by enemy fire, and operated at half of their standart efficiency.

Still, the advantage of only using one main gun and a few point defence systems against missiles was clear: the firepower was concentrated enough to cause literally horrid destruction, rather than small hits.

The disadvantage was just as obvious: Their chances to actually hit the enemy were rather rare.

Still, one shot after another was fired, their rage demanding nothing but revenge.

The fighters were another problem: While the light fighters were clearly unable to do deadly damage to the Raiders, they were actually quite able to damage their guns and engines.

Soon enough, two of the Raiders were, while not being destroyed, not anymore able to fight, instead they hung there in space, unable to move, or fire, properly.

The other two, however, continued their attack, determined to destroy the enemy. Still, they had to pay the price of close combat, kinetics hitting them more than once, and finally, one of them took several direct hits, and exploded in another ball of light.

However, one was still there, firing again and again...

OOC: Just to make sure my own interpretation of physics was not flawed, I contacted Wazzu to check on the EMP matter, seeing as how he seems to have a goodly amount of knowledge in this field. EMPs DO work in space, based on the same principle of light going through vacuum. Now if you want your worlds to be heated by sunlight, that means EMP waves can work in space too. In fact there is a very good book by Charles Sheffield that covers this topic as well when Earth is hit by a EMP wave created by Alpha Centauri going nova. So if you want your nice warm planets, you have to take the whole spectrum. Let us say it is by the same old principle, you can't have your cake and eat it too.
And I think it will be wise to keep on course to Draco, Falasmayon, after all it seems that Z ha dum wants to play the psionics card alot, and I need to sharpen that field in my RP for something I am planning.

The fleet under Rear Admiral Sheridan breaks off with the rest of the PCDI ships. They move to form up around the Argus along with the Falasmayon ships. Meanwhile Sheridan opens a comm to Ferias.
"Fleet-Admiral Ferias, might I suggest that you rendezvous at our Draco installation in the Prometheus Centauri system. I believe they will have the necessary facilities that you are seeking. I can have Grenada contact Rear Admiral Horatio and have the OSRPF prepared for your arrival."

"God damnit, they are NOT going to get that vessel especially after they stuck their noses into our buisness. Get me on the line with the Washington." Fortune moved across the bridge and when the radioofficer nodded that he had been connected, the Admiral barked his orders, "Captain Norris, keep the Colin Powell safe, the Yorktown and Kennedy are going to move toward where those vessels are. Dispatch ISSAPCs to those two raider vessels, I want those SOBs captured."

The Washington sat several hundred kilometers aft of the Colin Powell who sat dead in space her main fusion engine practically destroyed they were now dependant upon the Chemical Rockets. Which would get them back to Earth after awhile. Of course Admiral Fortune and Admiral Fletchers attention shifted, the two Carriers began to swing wide and run at flank speed toward where the Patrol Cruiser Argus was.

Nomad Moon research facility had been heavily damaged and the scientists were attempting their best at managing the situation. However they were just that scientists and not military personnel. It would be sometime however before any SpaceBees would land on the surface to begin clean up.

Azreal noted the NYJ ships changing course, the AS system plotting the course that would take it.

"it seems that NYJ would like to test us. . . very well, prepare all weapons, and move us closer to the fray, put us between them, and our Falasmayon alies. . . scanners, what are you getting?"

The Agrol at the blank console turned around, his over sized eyes closed in concentration, as he psychicly probed the inky darkness, seeking the intentions and thoughts of those around.

"Admiral Fortune, the vessels from Taka are moving to intercept our vessels." The LIDAR officer had began to plot the course of the Taka vessels as they moved through space, he also made note of the energy spike. "Admiral they're charging weapons."

"Get me the other side on the broadband radio right now. " Fortune was getting sick and tired of their interferance. "Weps, I want a targeting solution on their lead vessel as well. They want to test one of the most powerful vessels in the Federal Stellar Navy, well thats their funeral." The bridge crew carried out their orders with eifficancy as the radio officer gave a thumbs up and the four bow 450 Megawatt laser cannons began to turret on the Yorktown taking up aim on the leading Taka vessel. On its portside the Kennedy followed inline with the same targeting solution.

"Takan vessels, this is Admiral Fortune, your side has interfered long enough, sat by while a civilian installation was attacked, and now you think your going to get a vessel that violated our space? Stand down, and aside. If you fire, or attempt to intercept our vessels, we WILL consider it an act of war." The Yorktown and Kennedy continued on their course, Fortune moved a finger across his throat the radio operator cutting off the open channel. "Now get me the Warlady." It was several seconds before they patched in with the lead Dreadnaught. OOC: Valinon... your still a pompous horse's behind, but you know that and revel in it, so that's all I'll say. However, I do think he's right about the EMP. It's a wave of electromagnetic energy, so I think that since light and other forms of energy can pass through a vacuum, then the EMP pulse would be able to as well, also I've heard EMP used in so many sci-fi movies and books that I think that they aren't all mistaken. Oh yeah... NYJ... bring it on Muahaha!!!

IC: The Hausefeld came up on the shuttle, launched a squadron escort and promptly dragged the shuttle into its largest ship bay. ( tight, but manageable fit.) The approaching vessels registered on the command screens of the bridge, as well as the Takan ships moving to cover them.

"Sir, our sensor sans don't show anything greatly out of the ordinary on the shuttle, but there aren't any massive energy fluctuations or, other indicators of serious damage, I think they may be faking the severity of their damage fromt the Ion cannons."

"Fine then. Comms, send the personal thanks of myself and Falasmayon to that Takan commander, tell him I hope that I may repay the favor when this is over." Ferias said. "Get me Admiral Sheridan, tell him we have the ship and are jumping to Draco, and also that if the NYJ response continues that, he may indeed need to scramble a fleet to meet us at Draco. Tell them we will have the 2nd expeditionary fleet at Draco to aid in possible defense in 30min. And get that ship under guard, heavily! If they are faking then they may have wanted us to board. I don't want anything happening which we aren't equipped to handle."

The entire group of Falasmayon ships turned to orient together, and disappeared as if through a doorway into a hyperspace jump. They would arrive at the Draco installation in just under 45 min.

OOC: You've probably noticed anyway Z ha dum, but the reason I had them power down their systems was so they couldn't easily power up and escape when brought aboard. I don't know if you have sufficient technology to prevent me from getting them inside the carrier, but I wouldn't think so... still it's your nation. If they were successfully brought inside then a full containment shield, energy and matter, was set up arounfd the ship the second it was sufficiently aboard. I won't RP any kind of attempts to force entry until you tell me whether I've suceeded in getting the ship inside.

"so, they want to point thier little cannons at us. . . ID drivers, full starboard on the Honor, get us into possition for a Nova round through that ship targeting us. Shields to full, and open a channel."

The bridge errupted into chaos, Azrael loving every second of it. Voices chimed in from around the room.

"Shields up, estimated that we can survive three dirrect barrages with everyhting that ship has before we take hull damage."

"firing solution reached with Nova Cannon"

"firing solution reached with Slicer Cannons"

"QS generator one online, generator two is reading 80% output, rerouting power to compensate."

Azrael nodded, "whats that mean time wise?"

"we can give them the nova, one slicer at full power, or all the slicers at half power."

Azrael looked at him dumb struck

"The slicers put out half a million terrawatts, half power is still enough to carve these ships apart, rerout to all three, and where the hell is my coms channel?!?"

"online sir"

A holo screen popped up, Azrael stepping into it.

"to the captain of the NYJ flag ship, we could very well consider firing on our allies as an act of war in and of itself, if you do not turn back and allow us to collect this specimen, we will be forced to cut your ships into thier composite peices. I can not be held responcible for my actions if you continue to endanger my crew, withdraw, or be destroyed."

The link closed and Azrael turned to the engeneer general.

"how long utill you can get that second generator online at full potential?"

"we project three minutes."

The 2nd Federal Space Navy Fleet began to arrive on scene the carrier Lexington surrounded by sixteen other ships just as the Falasmayon vessels left the area(and after the Hotspur leaves of course so dont worry Indy :-P). Admiral Towne didnt like the situation as he was put into contact with both Admirals Fletcher and Fortune. It was all over secure commucation channels, heavily encrypted and would pretty much register as irregular radio chatter. "Sorry we got here to late guys, Fleet Command ordered us to detain that vessel you know."

Admiral Fletcher snickered alittle as he heard Towne say that,"And just how are we going to do that. The elves probably tracked the Falasmayon true, but then what, we go to their base and ask?"

"No, we deal with the threats here, and we go to Draco, and demand, hey folks lets face it they interferred in our soverign affairs. They sat back while our reasearch station was attacked, and then further stuck their noses in our buisness. We need to make them an example that we wont be pushed around next to one of our own installations."

"What your saying is suicide Lance. You know that the Federal Navy isnt ready, besides, the Powell is out of action, and so is a Destroyer."

"Two ships Mace, we still have 27 more and if I recall correctly, the Powell still has her Chemical Rockets, she can manuver and still be useful in the fight."

"Alright you two thats enough,"Admiral Nelson Fortune had decided to intredict on the conversation, the choice was ultimately his own. Over the radio fingers could be heard drumming on the desktop. "Mace have your Carrier slow down,I want the entire fleet to form around the Kennedy,Lexington, and Yorktown. The Powell is going to form up as well. They can still fight, however the Helena would do us more harm than good. I want them heading back best possible speed to Chimera. Now gentlemen, you have your orders, form up, we're gonna stare down Valinon and Taka again. My order still stands, if they try to intercept us or fire upon us, you have permission to open fire."

The other two remained silent, Towne had not expected to win the arguement but he now had his orders, and he was more than happy to getting to work on them. The vessels of the Federal Stellar Navy began to form up on the Kennedy,Yorktown, and Lexington. Even the Colin Powell began to move from the orbit of Charon using chemical rockets to catch up with the rest of the fleet. All the ships had basically positioned themselves infront of the Takan vessels. The Helena being the only exception running at full speed away from the area.

The ships had slowed down to a complete stop, however none of the vessels had powered down their weapons. The Cruisers, and Destroyers made sure their Heavy Beam Weaponry and Railguns pointed toward the largest threats in the Takan navy. All the while the Carriers began to point their largest gun at the Takan Cruiser. The kenetic particle weapon(KPW) was NYNJs earliest attempt at plasma weapony. The guns discharge made the 450megawatt cannons on the bow pale in comparrision. It normally required an Admiral to authorize the use of the KPW, well the combined Navy had three Admirals and all three were giving the acknowledgement to their lower commanders for use of the KPW.

Listening to the threat Towne,Fletcher and Fortune had once more communicated with each other before Fortune sent a response to the Takan vessels. "Takan ships, you held back while a civilian facility was attacked, your allied interfered in a military operation that was being conducted, and you dare now tell us what we can do near one of our own research facilities? You will not be getting that vessel. You vultures, thieves, and targets for our navy, if you do not leave this area and return the vessel you have taken."

And now the navy waited, they we no longer moving, however each of the 8 Carriers had pointed its KPW at a Takan warship, while the Cruisers and Destroyers prepared their beam weapons, and railguns for action against the smaller escort vessels.

Three minutes.

Captain Nerelle was pleased to see the NY&J destroyers back off after their fire had taken its toll. The Hotspur itself wasn't without damage though, and there was some rather nasty hull damage to the engine housing and rear of the gravitational section, but luckly nothing that wouldn't grow over. With teh enemy Hammerheads falling back, the Hotspur began to decelerete as much as they dared, in order to load as many of the Thunderbolts before jump as possible. Their course was stabilzed, as erratic manouvering didn't lend itself well to hyperspace vector calculations. Naturally, the rear weapons and defence grid were kept at full power, but the forward batteries were powered down to conserve energy.

Ninety seconds.

With the jump-ponit calculations made, all that they were waiting for was for the generator to return within operating capacity. Of course, if most of the energy form the weapons and hull-life support were rerouted to the generators, the jump could have been made a good ten minutes earlier. Of course, the Hotspur would not likely have survived to make that jump, which is why something like that was only done in the direst of circumstances.

"Ops, were are those Raiders? Wern'te they heading this way?"

"Yes sir. They've been intercepted by the Onarr, and are engaging them rather successfully. At their present speed, they'll be able to follow us in."

"Good. Time?"

"One minute."

[ooc: Re: EMP: The EMP is generated by gamma waves hitting free- floating atoms who emit electrons that are responsible for the EMP effects.

So, the gamma waves can travel through space, but as long as they don´t hit an atmosphere, they wont create an EMP.

Now, i don´t know how conventional EMP works, but i am pretty certain that you don´t have the necessary amount of electrons in your EMP warheads to create a significant EM pulse.

As long as I`m not provided with a clear argument/ evidence that i`m wrong, i stay where i am, regarding my opinion on this.

And even if I`m wrong, i would like to note the speed the ships are moving with. several hundred km/s. The EMP blast travels with the speed of light, yes, but it has the nasty habit of loosing energy while traveling. The ships would indeed outrun it.

Which is why i generally thing that missiles/ nukes in space are a stupid idea.]

ic:

I can´t believe it...
They´re fools. They will fall.

It was true. And fascinating. They had planned to 'enter' the Falasmayon ship, burning through the hull, one of the nice abilities the shuttle had. Not exactly a weapon, but useful enough.

But it hadn´t even be necessary. Instead, they were on board of the ship.

The problem was, of course, that they didn`t know where on the ship they were, thusly, just burning through the ground their shuttle stood on was a bad idea, since using the device would make further space travel impossible... and burning through the bottom to end in the vacuum wasn´t exactly what they intended... so, they waited.

---

Meanwhile, the two Raiders still able to operate seemed to be satisfied with the destruction they had forced upon their enemies, and begun to retreat again, their course leading them towards the Omega X 'Raider'.

They managed to realise the Omega X preparations for the jump, and calculated the time.

It will work.

The 'battle' seemed to end, although, the question was what would follow...

OOC: hmmm... still checking on the EMP, but your probably right.

IC: The fleet traveled for 10 min. through hyperspace before Ferias was satisfied that the shuttle wasn't going to make any move on it's own.
4 squads of space marines (10 men a piece), formed up around what appeared to be a doorway in the shuttle. Also three heavy Laser tri-pods were set up, the shuttle bay's ceiling mounted defense turrets were activated. 1 squad went forward and placed to melta charges on the doorway, set the timers and backe off to a safe distance. The charges detonated tomporarily opaquing the containment field and hiding the results from sight.

On the bridge the Hyperspace chronometer reached 30 min. to exit.

(Since I don't have a clue what the shuttle looks like, then I'm assuming that there is a visible doorway, If not then just, assume they stuck it on a random part of the hull that they thought looked like a doorway.)

OOC: Ack... I insert myself back in... Sorry about my previous rudeness... But doesn't somebody have Cloak-Detectors or something?

IC:

Bell silently cursed under his breath as he observed the growing chaos around him. The Nightmare performed spectacular barrel rolls and other manuevers as it tried to avoid the ships firing upon and flying around. Suddenly a powerful beam from some vessel involved in the fighting hit the Nightmare, slapping it crooked. Although the Nightmare was relatively undamaged, the vessel's Cloaking Device was jostled, causing the vessel to magically appear again in realspace.

Bell cursed colorfully. Speaking aloud, Bell ordered his AI, "Avatar... Try to run a schematic test on the Cloaking Device... I want it repaired now..."

Acknowledged Captain Bell... Schematics Test being run... Preliminary results shows several broken power conduits...

"Damn't, can you get it repaired?"

I am sorry Captain, but highly improbable...

Bell pounded the console and cursed. Quieting down, Bell increased power to shields and thrusters and tried to excriate himself from the disaster...

The 2nd Expeditionary fleet arrived at Draco 20 minutes before the Hausefeld Battlegroup.

The fleet consisted of 2 H. Battlestars, 3 Battlestars, 5 Gunstars, 5 Assaultstars. 15 ships in all. ( to find out what each of these ship classes actually is, you can look on this thread for ship explainations (http://www.nationstates.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=102683&highlight=).) The flagship of the fleet was the H. Battlestar Geminon, Lord-Admiral Alloran Fenris commanded the vessel. "Signal our arrival to Command and to the Valinon base." commanded Fenris "Also, make sure the Harbringer is on station in case we need it."

At Draco, Rear Admiral Horation watches the Falasmayon ships arrive. He stands in the command and tactical operations center of the massive asteriod mine turned fleet installation.
"Signal the Falasmayon ships."
"Yes, Admiral."
"Falasmayon ships this is Rear Admiral Horatio of the Outer System Rim Patrol Force, we have received word from Grenada of your situation and are ready to assist. Coordinates are being give to setup stable orbital patterns within our defense network. Also several berths have been cleared for any ships that wish to dock."
Horatio looks to the man standing beside him dressed in a matt black uniform with no visible insignia other than a small V-like emblem on his collar.
"Finally I have Sardaukar personnel, technicans from R&D, and members of His Majesty's Special Liaison Service ready to assist in the matter of the captured shuttle."

"fire at will. . . " Azrael says, a slight look of remorse in his eyes.

The fleet turns in unison, as all ships open fire, targeting the two fowardmost NYJ vessles, the slicer cannons hurrling streams of laser designed to cut a ship in half in a single pass tracing long arcs across the largest ship. a flight of torpedoes, 415 strong, streak across the heavens, as the massive broadside batteries fire, rocking the craft with their combined might. to add to the maelstrom, the Lances turn, sending streamers of fusing tungstun rings towards the oppsoing fleet.

The buring lances of the slicers, half a million terrawatts of power from each, illuminate the bridge, as the lights flicker from the massive draw, even from the powerful Singularity generators. As the Nova opens fire, sending a near light speed anti-matter warhead streaking towards the opposing fleet, Azrael begins to speak, slowly, and softly, a voice deep and resonating despite its low volume, the Com's officer quickly patches it through to each ship, so the Star Commander's pray may be heard by all.

"Eternal Father, strong to save,
Whose arm hath bound the restless wave,
Who bidd'st the mighty ocean deep,
Its own appointed limits keep.

Oh hear us when we cry to Thee,
For those in peril on the sea.

Eternal Father, lend Thy grace
To those with wings who fly thro' space,
Thro wind and storm, thro' sun and rain,
Oh bring them safely home again.

Oh Father, hear a humble prayer,
For those in peril in the air.

Oh Trinity of love and power,
Our brethren shield in danger's hour,
From rock and tempest, fire and foe,
Protect them where so ever they go.

Thus evermore shall rise to Thee
Glad hymns of praise from land and sea, Amen."

He closes his eyes, giving a moments silence for those who have perrished in the Aethreal darkness of space before, and those who would join them from both sides.

I'll sum up... and i'll try to remain impartial. Lets see.

An unknwon ship was detected in the orbit of Charon and NYJ dispatched a ship tp investigate. The unknown ship (played by Z ha dum) ran, and NYJ pursued. Falasmayon got involved by offering to help the NYJ, and through a series of misunderstandings stuff got ugly. Valinon and Taka came to aid falasmayon while Menelcamar came to aid NYJ. A couple other non-aligned players also jumped in. The unknown vessel used the standoff to call in reinforcements and the reinforcements attacked Charon. While NYJ was fighting the Carrier that the uknown shuttle called in. Falasmayon took its chance an along with Valinon and Taka captured the shuttle ( however, it appears that the shuttle wanted to be captured). falasmayon and valinon jumped to the Draco research station in their home system of Alpha Centauri, where the shuttle would be studied. However, on the way Falasmayon is trying to force an entry to the shuttle, with an unknown amount of success. (waiting for a response from Z ha dum). Meanwhile, NYJ took out the carrier and got very mad that Falasmayon and valinon took its prey so, Taka decided to cover its allies and has just launched a massive attack on the NYJ fleet, which was about to follow Falasmayon and Valinon to Draco. Thats about it. I think we're currently waiting for responses from NYJ and Z ha dum, and also Menelcamar( if they're still there. I haven't seen any posts too recently so i dont know if the menelcamar forces are still around.)

Oh yeah... Falasmayon, Valinon, and Taka are part of an alliance called the Proxima Centauri delense Initiative (PCDI) so if you see PCDI it means those three nations.

I think that was pretty impartial... so unless anyone has major glaring faults with my sum up I think it will work.

[ooc: Falasmayon: where is this base? somewhere in sol or in some other star system?]

They sat there.

And waited.

They would come... soon enough...

But one thing they needed to do...

A transmission was sent. Actually, not a single transmisison... a signal. a steady signal...

[ooc again: No idea how good you are in blocking the signal... It`s, in fact, a distress call]
Falasmayon
13-12-2003, 22:33
OOC: Valinon will have to check me on this, since it's actually his base, but its in the Alpha Centauri system around the outer gas giant?(I think... Valinon clear this up for me Prometheus is the outer gas giant and thats where the station is. right!)

Well anyway, I didn't specifically have a communications blackout on the ship, but it was in an energy and matter containment field meant to both prevent things from leaving the ship and to prevent the ship from firing weaponry. the field would probably at least, severely garble any transmissions, and I think I would definitely detect the signal. one more thing, what about my melta bombs on the hull of the ship (melta bombs are charges designed to blast directed high energy plasma onto the surface.) I put two charges on the hull in an area that my men thought was a door. If you would... read that post (its a few back from here) and give me aresponse on how effective the charges are and what they do?

IC: "Sir, we're reading a signal from the shuttle, continous and repeating, some kind of beacon." said the officer at the comms station.
"WHAT!" yelled Ferias, " Get a dampening field on that shuttle, now! Flood the whole comms spectrum, except our official channels, with static! Shit!, this could make thing worse. Tell Lieutenant Dammers that if his men don't have that shuttle open within 5 min. he will answer to me! And send a transmission to Command, tell them they need to backup the forces meeting us at Draco. Advise them of what just happened, we may need to fight more than one adversary. And GET THAT SHUTTLE PACIFIED!"

The command deck raced with activity, and within moments the most powerful electronic dampening field the ship could create was in place around the shuttle, in addition, the whole spectrum of energy used for FTL communications, excepting 5 frequencies, was filled with loud and meaningless static.

OOC: I don't know if your tech is sufficiently advanced that you don't use standard FTL comms frequencies, but if you do then that plus the dampening field will probably block out the distress signal, and prevent a new one from being sent.

Meanwhile, on earth, the Drakh returned to his underground residence... He had just talked with a few Indiastani officials...

After recieving the brief and muted distress signal of the Drakh shuttle and the afteraction report of Captain Nerelle, the command at Ophelia Outpost decided that the time was right to deploy the entirety of Shadow Squadron. All fourteen Omega-X craft were to be activated, under the command of Flag-Captain Grant aboard the Noxious. The Advanced Tactical Destroyer squadron was to leave for Alpha Centauri within 24 hours, and to proceed there at all speed. They were then to drop out of hyperspace well outside of the system, and proceed in cautiously. They told the command that reinforcements would meet them there, and they would attack the outpost that was holding the shuttle. The attack was twofold in purpose, they said. First, it was to free or destroy the shuttle that had been captured, so that its technology was not captured intact. Secondly, it was to punish the interlopers for interfering with the Plan. Neither the command back on Ophelia nor any of the Captains knew what help they could expect, but were told that they'd know it when it go there. And that that would have to be enough.

OOC: (reads Z ha dum post... slaps self in face for missing the obvious.) Well at least i took out one Drakh... and wahoo, this looks like I just might get the major campaign style fleet engagement I've been hoping to play. Of course I didn't think it would come out this way, but oh well.. One more thing, without a clear idea of what the psychic attack is doing, i'll just go for the simple version.

IC: The containment field cleared, revealing a 7 ft. diameter hole in the hull. First squad moved in. As they reached the hole the lead marine, suddenly doubled over, clutching, and clawing at his shull... suddenly he crumpled to the floor and was silent. The men recoiled in instinct, when suddnely another team member hit the floor screaming and was stilled.
"Forward!" yelled Lieutenant Dammers, "Get them pacified! Second squad reinforce!" The men moved forward, as 2 men from the second squad folded. "Grenades." commanded Dammers, and 3 fragmentation grenaged rolled into the hole in the ship.

(OOC: I hope I haven't taken too much liberty with your actions Z ha dum. I figured that since you said an attack strong enough to kill a man that mean't 1, not 3 or so. I also figured you'd keep doing the same thing, but If the Drakh does something different just correct me.)

This thread went far beyond anything what I had wanted or imagined. Starting a galactic conflict IC was not what I had wanted. But I said open RP and I will RP it as the ocean flows. However I will remain within bounds of reason. The Nova, needs to get scaled down, by a lot, to get a warhead moving near the speed of light would take a tremendous amount of fuel, it would just not be really feasible nor is it in anyway good RP. Meanwhile, in hyperspace, two 'fleets' were searching for the source of the distress signal...

Finally, they met, to coordinate their strike...

Fourteen of the ships looked like the one that crashed with the NYNJ ship at Charon, three others, however, were something else... fairly larger, 1.5km in diameter, and they looked... like spiders.

F-C Grant didn't quite know what they were, but he knew that they were on his side. All seventeen ships were covered in the distinctive gloss-black bio-mechanical armour, but those three new ships were unique. They were not made by the hands of Men, and to those that saw them terror was struck in their hearts, as though they looked upon their doom. Grant seemed to smile, because he knew that the doom they brought was not for him, but for the poor fools who were trying to meddle with a power that they didn't understand.

As the Destroyer Squadron dropped out of hyperspace via normal jump points, Grant lost sight of the Shadow vessels. Indeed, they had not opened 'points like his ships had. No, they, and their large fighters just seemd to *appear* in realspace, almost as if they could shift between realities at will. Fascinating.

They closed relativly quickly, with the Shado vessels speeding on ahead while the Omega's tried to keep up while launching their fighters. Closing relativly quickly, they spotted their objective, and made ready to move in for the kill.

(Note: this all likely happens well after your ships have arrived. I'd imagine they are docked with/near that big monstrosity of yours. Cheers.)

OOC: Yeah, I hadn't really intended for this to get so massive either,... but It just sorta... did. :? Whatever. I suppose with the actions taken on each side then this was the logical outcome. It'll be good either way.

IC: The men looked on in disbelief as one of the grenades physically stopped in mid-air... and then exploded. The 4 men closest to the blast were killed in a bloody mess, including Lieutenant Dammers (never liked that name anyway). 2 others were wounded with shrapnel. the rest of the men waited, and then entered the shuttle, finding the parts of the Drakh scattered everywhere in a mess. They reported the shuttle pacified, at the cost of 12 men.

The Hausefeld and its escorts left hyperspace 10 min. later and moved to offload the shuttle to Draco. A few minutes later the reinforcements from Falasmayon Command arrived. 1 H. Battlestar, 2 Battlestars, 2 Patrolstars, 5 Gunstars, and 5 assaultstars. Then Admiral Ferias and Lord-Admiral Fenris met by hologram to confer.

"Sir, I think we may face a problem. The men who pacified our quarry reported, strange telekinetic and telepathic stuff going on. The creatures in that shuttle were able to make men die without firing a shot and were able to control object with out visibly doing anything." said Ferias visibly shaken, "Sir, I don't know if were up to this sort of thing."

"Be calm, Dolar." Said the Lord-Admiral, "I have spoken to our Valinon Allies and they assure me that their own psychics will be able to handle this. It does however, highlight an area in which our military has been lax, and I am going to recommend to Unified Command that we rectify the situation. We still have problems though. We don't know how much of that shuttle's distress signal got out. It probably wasn't much, but given the danger of our adversary I will not take chances. We have a full battlefleet here and if thats not enough, then the Harbringer stands in wait."

"The Harbringer." said Ferias, "That does even the odds extensively."

"Yes." continued Fenris, " However, we can still do much to defuse this conflict and to aid ourselves, the problem is I don't know how much time we have. I will tell our allies on Draco, to rip as much out of that shuttle as possible, to carve off a few meters of hull plating, and then to give it back to us. Here is what we will do. The Hausefeld will take the sshuttle just out of system, perhaps a 5 min, hyperspace jump. Then we will drop the shuttle, and destroy, using the ships Plasma cannons. Before the jump back, the crew will plant melta charges on the inside of the hangar bay where the shuttle was stored they will then disembark and the computer will auto pilot the ship back. just before it arrives, the charges will detonate ripping a huge hole in the hangar bay. This will not only cause damage to the bay, but will destabilize the hyperspace jump causing massive damage to the ship itself. The computer will activate emergency procedures and bring the ship out of hyperspace, where it will be towed back here. When the enemy arrives we will tell them that the shuttle tried to escape while we were in hyperspace, by blasting through the hull, we will tell them that we destroyed the shuttle, as soon as we had reentered realspace. If they want proof, then we can show them the wreckage of the shuttle. If all goes well then they will think we got nothing of value and that should at least significantly defuse the situation. Is all of this clear to you?"

"Yes, Lord-Admiral," said Ferias, "but, this will mean the destruction of my ship beyond repair, will it not?"

"Yes, it will Dolar." explained Fenris," This does not reflect upon your service to the Dominion. The Hausefeld is an old vessel. It was due to be scrapped in a few years and replaced by our new star-classes of ships. You will be given command of the H. Battlestar Caprica pending permament assignment to a new ship. If that is all, then we must hurry to make preparations, we likely have little time."

OOC: Okay, I know this was long but I had to explain and setup my plan. I'm going to run on the assumption that what Indiastan said about the ships not arriving for 24 hours was true, and that the post that talks about their arrival won't become valid for a little bit. Oh yeah, so you can picture what the Hausefeld will look like after its role in the plan heres what it looks like undamaged.

Rear Admiral Horatio stands on the command deck of Draco, deep within the bowels of the converted asteriod. He has just broken the link with Lord Admiral Fenris.
"What is the ETA of our tech teams and Sardaukar sent to the Hausefeld?"
"They will be docking momentarily."
"Good," Horatio hands him a comp-pad data disk. "Transmit this to Captain Donovan, he is to have the R&D teams follow them to the letter. An additional bulk transport will be sent to carry materials."
"Yes, Admiral."
"And I will be taking the Concordia out and put the rest of the task force on full alert. Send an encrypt to the patrol groups telling them to be ready for any new arrivals, and contact Sanctuary."
"Yes, sir," with that Horatio leaves, and goes to take a shuttle to the OSRPF dreadnought flagship.

********

Two hours and forty-five minutes later, the teams sent to the Falasmayon carrier at last complete their tasks. They leave with two assault transports and a bulk transport filled with captured gear from the Drakh ship, and a small piece of the ships hull. The captured pieces are then taken to Draco, and locked deep within its bowels, until the members of His Majesty's Special Liaison Service can take them to one of their secure facilities.

"Sir, the Valinonian teams have finished their work."

"Good. tell Ferias to proceed with the plan." ordered the Lord-Admiral.

The Hausefeld and two transports moved away from Draco and jumped away.

After 5 min. they left hyperspace. The shuttle was maeuvered by force beams, away from the ship and destroyed by a rain of high energy plasma, leaving a small field of debris pieces. The charges were planted and the Hausefeld's skeleton crew disembarked to the transports. The three ships jumped back towards Draco. Admiral Ferias watched from the transports bridge.

As the melta charges in the hangar bay went off, the ship visibly buckled, as raw hyperspace energy, flowed into the innards of the carrier. Entire bulkheads collapsed and twisted, venting atmosphere. The engine block began to melt and burn, deforming the entire rear of the ship. Rents opened in the decks of the carrier, as structural integrity was compromised in large areas of the carrier. Finally, the ship disappeared as if going through a door of energy, as the computer deactivated the hyperspace drives and forced the ship back into realspace.

The transports dragged the carrier, bruised and broken back to Draco. The ship was placed in a dock and salvage and rescue teams stood by to make it look like they were attempting to save the vessel. And now Falasmayon waited, for the inevitable next move by its adversaries... it came swiftly.

Approximately six hours after the Hausefeld was wrecked, system perimeter warning sensors activated.

"Sir, we have incoming. 30 plus ships. On viewers now."

The screen showed a large group of ships. 17 ships looked like the carrier encountered at Charon, 12 looked like the strange bio-mechanical vessel that had come to aid the carrier, and 3 were dark and brooding vessels that looked like spiders out of a nightmare.

"Alright. Fleet to defense position." ordered the Lord-Admiral, " Get me an open comms channel to them."

"Channel open, sir."

"To approaching war vessels, I am Lord-Admiral Fenris of the naval forces of the Dominion of Falasmayon. The circumstances which undoubtedly brought you here, have changed significantly. We do not have what you are undoubtedly looking for. If you do not believe me then I offer as proof, the Warcarrier which you may recognize from our encounter on Charon. Look at it! Right now all of us will be better served by refraining from attempting to blow eachother up, and rather listening and discussing this matter in a logical framework. I repeat we do not have posession of the shuttle which we captured at Charon. If you will consider this possibility long enough to refrain from attack, I will be able to explain further."

Along with the transmisison, live feeds of the wreck of the Hausefeld were transmitted. The once proud carrier is visibly a loss. Her entire stern portion, deck and engine block, is obviously melted, fused, and blackened.
The keel of the ship, is practically non-existent, having been totally disintegrated, revealing the innards of the ship. The hull has numerous rents and tears in it and buckled and collapsed bulkheads are visible across the length of the ship. All the damage is consistent with a sudden and catastrophic drop from hyperspace. salvage crews are also visible working on the ruined hulk of the ship.

OOC: This brings my posts up to the time of the last Indiastan post, so what my ships are reactong to is what was described by Indiastan, also right now we have to play this completely in character or it won't be any fun. I trust that everyone will repond to this transmission, using fair in character methods. I know that all of you know what my plan is, but your commanders don't know, and I hope that you will bear in mind what your forces do and do not know when making decisions. If you dont then the whole point of strategizing and coming up with new and interesting plans is meaningless. Of course, I think all of you have proven to be excellent role-players and will keep good etiquette in mind anyway. It's just a reminder. :) lets the games continue!

[ooc: 1: Well, there is a reason i named this nation Z ha dum... It IS shadow tech, without exceptions ;) (And Teeps as CPU`s, So don`t try anything funny :P) This is also the reason this is an invite only nation... before doing anything, i`m either invited to participate, or i ask and make sure the one starting the thread knows what i am...

2. Indiastan is right: Only 14 ships that look like that strange thingy helping the carrier, and three spidery ships. No more Drakh vessels.

3. Cunning plan, except you forgot to read back: The shuttle has no weapons, and if it decides to burn it`s way through a hull, it`s no longer capable of spaceflight, since it´s own hull is... well, destroyed. Makes your story _not_so_believable_ :P But then, we are outnumbered, and wont be able to destroy the base... i guess the attack will be a swift revenge, not more...]

ic:

The three spidery ships came near, each one about 1.5km in diameter, the unknown (Indiastani) vessels right behind them, they were supposed to destroy what escaped the initial strike...

But then, they were surprised by the sudden communication.

The ships themselves, not having any crew in the normal sense of the word, but a living, sentient being enslaved as CPU, this being, ironically, being an Indiastani (male) telepath, are distracted for a moment, surprised.

But their internal files tell them enough. It is unlikely, althought not entirely impossible, that the Drakh did what they say they did...

And besides, they still took the shuttle, without any reason, aside from their greed.

They need to be punished.

Chaos through warfare.
Evolution through bloodshed.
Perfection through victory.

The eternal wisdom in their minds, the ships shriek... but don´t attack, yet.

Instead, they slow down, minimal.

She ships, created for battle, not for negotiations... But they answer.

How.

OOC: ok, sorry about the mess up on the forces. I saw something about a carrier and 17 ships and that messed me up, oops! And as to my plan, this is where it gets triky, I have to stay within the knowledge of my commanders, and they dont know about the abilities of the ship, so they cant say anything directly related to that. ggrrr! The best laid plans of mice and men... And by the way, I really haven't a clue what you mean by how... I'm going to assume that that means Fenris should explain further.

IC: "They've slowed their approach sir. Minimally, but it is there."

"Alright, stick to formations and stay between them and Draco, dont fire, we might still be able to avoid this. Return communique." ordered Fenris.

"The ship which we captured, was brought into a gunboat hangar. The ship then jumped to hyperspace to bring its quarry back here. On the way, to the best of our knowledge, the shuttle activated some kind of weapon, which it used to breach the hull of the carrier, we can only assume it was trying to escape. However, the crew obviously didn't know that the ship was in the middle of a hyperspace jump. The hull breach destabilized the hyperspace jump and the ship's integrity. By the time the ships computer entered emergency procedures and brought the ship back into realspace, massive amounts of damage had been done to our carrier, the catastrophic hyperspace destabilization is what caused the damage you see on that vessel. When the carrier was back in realspace, the shuttle apparently tried to escape away. Main sensors were down, so one of the gun crews acted on its own initiative and blasted the shuttle, destroying it. The shuttle may have been damaged because it was destroyed easily. The rest of the group which had been traveling with the carrier doubled back and picked up the few survivors and towed the wreck back here. We lost 2476 sailors. If you don't think that that's enough bloodshed then by all means... attack, but I've had enough of this. We dont have your shuttle. In effect we never had it. If you want the coordinates of the debris of your ship the here they are. Do what you will."
(The hyperspace jump coordinates, of the place where the debris cloud of the Drakh shuttle are transmitted along with this message.)
___

"Well, now we see if they go for it." mused the Admiral, "Keep all flight crews and gun crews, on imediate deployment alert. The balls may be in their court, but I'll be damned if I let them get me unprepared."

OOC: And this bit is for NYJ. I think that Taka, went on vacation or something, seriously. So why dont you just assume that he fired off a flight of torpedoes, damaged an escort or two and left after I had escaped.
Then you regrouped, and arrived at Draco, about the same time as
Z ha dum and Indiastan. Then you can just act like your ships heard all of these transmissions and then you can just jump right back in... 8) hows that work for you?

[ooc: exactly ;)]

ic:

The ships semi- sentient CPU`s were busy calculating, pondering.

It is possible the Drakh used their help.
But why would they try to escape?
They fired on them.
We need to make sure they will never again shoot upon our allies.

The answer came, soon enough:

We agree.

The ships begun accelerating again, for a moment, they looked as if they were about to 'jump' back to hyperspace...

A moment later, three red purgatory`s of cleansing left their orifices.

They accelerated further, heading directly towards the fleet, their weapons bringing death upon their enemy, the Indiastani vessels following behind them, attacking what escaped.

However, there were many enemy ships, and they had to take quite an amount of defence fire...

[ooc: Will wait with describing casualities until i know what exactly you´re firing. As for their weapons: only a single gun, nothing else. This means 1. They can only target one ship at a time and 2. since it´s the only gun, it has extremely destructive power. Means, a one shot killer.]

OOC: Oh well... coulda worked  and it was a good plan... 8) .

IC: As the ships accelerated. The fleet maintained positions, waiting to make sure that the ships were leaving. Then the assault came.

The three red beams lanced into the formation catching the ships at rest. One beam hit a H. Battlestar, blasting through one of the support pylons that attached the hangar bays to the main body of the ship. As the ship tried to maeuver away, the inertial forces broke the second pylon off seperating the port hangar pod from the ship. Another beam cored through the engine compartment of a Gunstar touching of an explosion that left the ship a burning hulk. The third beam sheared a semi-circle in the main body of a Patrolstar.

"Sir, we've taken fire!. Seraph has lost a carrier pod, but is otherwise functional. A Gunstar is down, and heavy dorsal damage to a Patrolstar. Confirm 3 enemy shots."

"Hellfire! three shots!?" raged Fenris, "Get the Gunstars and Assaultstars to form a screen! Attack craft forward! Target the three spidery ships main guns. Call in the Harbringer to the rear, and have it hit the other ships. Send the Patrolstars forward to aid it."

The 10 assaultstars and 9 Gunstars formed a ship screen for the rest of the fleet and the Assault stars launched a flight of missiles 60 missiles towards the three ships.
200 interceptors and 300 bombers raced forward to meet the oncoming ships. The fighters broke off to attack the raiders from the spidery ships, while the bombers continued on to attack the main guns of the three ships. 100 interceptors stayed behind with the fleet.
The 2 Patrolstars raced forward towards the Destroyers firing missiles, weapons batteries and launching fightercraft as they came.
Finally, behind the Destroyers at a medium distance appeared a massive warship 2.5 km in length. Immediately upon arrival it launched its fighter and bomber complement. 60 fighters and 60 bombers formed up around the Warstar. It fired its dorsal mounted railgun accelerators into the destroyers, and turned to present its prow to the squadron.

OOC: a few things deserve an explaination. The railguns on the Warstar are huge, the gun itself is nearly a kilometer in length, and very powerful. The missiles from the 15 kiloton yield anti-ship nuclear missiles. (I know you dont like nukes in space, but they aren't being used as all powerful bombs with massive blast areas. The blast area is localized, and yes you can out run the blast, but since these things dont detonate except on proximity of impact, dont complain about me using them unrealisitcally.
 All in all this is a pretty powerful counterattack, at least by my standards.

OOC: Well....you said it. Exactly like Shadows.....

Horatio watches as the Falasmayon ships take the damage, and watches as they vent atmosphere and explode. He looks over the tactical map, the OSRPF heavy group is ready, for now they are behind the defenses of Draco.
"MAC gun platforms are fully charged, Admiral," Horatio turns to his adjutant.
"And what of the Liaison agents, are they ready?"
"Yes, Admiral."
"Good," Horatio says turning back to watch. "Send the first two skirmish wings of Longshards forward, and gunships squadrons Solon, Musket, and Sabre they are to assist the Falasmayon ships."
"Yes, Admiral."
"Have the MAC guns fire their first round, they are to target those bio-armor destroyers. Tear them to pieces."
Horation looks out in time to see the eight MAC heavy gun platforms send out their first wave. Massive neo-titanium cases with carbon-to-carbon cores, the largest weapons for planetary defense deployed at Promethues. The shells glow with an eerie cast, swathed in the energy of their magnetic accelerators, hurrying them along until at last they reach the final energy gate and send them along at 3,500 per second (OOC: you people aren't the only ones with one shot kill weapons).
"Now it is up to the to you," Horatio mummers, thinking of the strange Liaison agents on Draco.

On Draco, thirty Myrmidons, know as His Majesty's Special Liaison Service to all but a few, stand in a large open room, shielded deep in the depths of Draco.
We have faced this foe before one says with his mind. It is time we turn them away, again.
Ten each begin to focus on the human computers of the Shadow carriers. They begin to eat at the minds of the crazed psion within it, breaking his connection to his infernal machine controls. From the prow of the trailing cruisers, the fusion beam cannons open up. Each ship has a pair of the cannons on their prows, and they open fire on the larger ships in unison. As they do so, they launch their anti-ship fusion missiles from the dual prow launchers. Within ten seconds, nearly thirty high-powered purple energy beams rake throuh the various ships, while nealy a hundred missiles streak in on the largest amongst them. The fighters dashed in to the attack, following up after the missiles launched. They were going for the jugular.

(Alright, here's the numerical breakdown. Fourteen cruisers, firing four missiles each, and two beams. Then the T-bolts are going in, and there are around 550 of them. The fusion missiles work pretty much the same way Falasmayon decribed for his, that being a focused, powerful blast. The fighter each carry either smaller missiles, but these are mostly for anti-fighter use. Cheers.)

The attack begun, and now, the three vessels launched the next wave... 120 small fighters, about 20m in lenght, were just... thrown out from the ships, three huge bulks of them... moments later, the bulks disintegrated, releasing the cloud of fighters... which which headed towards the enemy.

Still, they were seriously outnumbered, 500 enemy fighters and bombers heading towards them...

The battle begun.

This fighters, while having fairly powerful weapons and unmatched maneuverability, had relatively weak armour, and more than one, more than ten were victims of enemy fire...

Meanwhile, three three Battlecrabs attacked further, their weapons aiming for death and destruction...

At this time, the Valinon Telepaths begun to interfere...

The shadows had been careful, using Telepaths they got from their Indiastani allies as their ships CPU`s, but against the 10 telepaths concentrating on one ship...

The fighters, yes, they caught some of their attention...

But the big ships, their pilots could feel the pressure... they were simply... outnumbered.

Still, the barriers they build up hold...

At least, for the moment...

But, and this was a fact, they wouldn´t hold against the multiple attacks... not forever... One, two minutes perhaps... then the ships would freeze in space, would be an easy target, a sitting duck.

Worse than that... the missiles came in.

A few fighters attacked them, and destroyed many...

Then, the ships realised the danger, and stopped their attack on the main vessels, fired upon the missiles, destroying most of them...

But not all of them. A few made it...

Two exploded harmless, the ships outrunning them. One exploded near to a few fighters, destroying three, damaging two more.

And one was near enough to damage one of the main vesssels, one of it`s 'arms', to be correct. It vaporised. The ship released a shriek, not sound, no... not a normal sound. The shriek seemed to reach right into the mind of the participants of the battle.

The armour of the shadow vessels was fairly excellent, and the enemy fire was not overly dangerous... still, the continuous fire of kinetics, as well as energy/ particle weapons damaged all three of them. While two were still near to full battle capability, one of them, the one hit by the fusion missile, was hit badly...

And this one was the first to surrender to the Telepath`s attempts to break the connection of CPU and ship.

It hung there, screaming into the minds of the fighting forces, unable to act.

OOC: I must be underrating the capabilities of my ships. Probably not in comparison to the shadow stuff, but I dont think that Indiastani ships are that much more powerful than mine... oh well

By the way, United Indiastan, I think you totally missed my last post about the stuff that was attacking your cruisers, check my last post, its the last one on page 6. Since you didn't say anything about it Im gonna assume that you are ignoring it for the moment, but you still need to post damage.

IC: The psychic shudder of the battlecrab was felt across space.

"Sir, One of those spider ships took a serious hit. It looks... inert....and, INCOMING FIRE!"

"All fleet full prow shields!" ordered Fenris on the Geminon "Hit them wit..."

The ship rocked as more blasts from the battlecrabs and from the Indiastani ships came inward. Blasts from the massive cannons on the Battlecrabs, tore into the fleet, but were stopped by the shield of escorts.
A Gunstar lost the outer half of its port wing. Another, had a neat hole drilled straight through it, the ship went dark and began to drift, but did not explode. An Assaultstar was slightly too slow to get out of the way, and its keel was sheared off.
The weaponry from the Indiastani ships came in. Several beams passed throught ships and into space. Others were dissipated by the energy circuitry, and Faraday Cage built into the ships hull. Some were able to overwhelm the shielding and get through though. Several ships took blasts to the Dorasal and prow, blasting apart, their AS cannons, or missile launchers. Many of the incoming missiles were torn apart by the fighters. (Since there are over 100, just defending the ships) others got througth. Impacts tore at the armour of the ships and a lucky shot destroyed the engine block of a H. Battlestar, reducing it to maneuvering jets only.

"Sir, we have reports. Most losses are in the snubfighters. lead bomber squad destroyed, Interceptors covering."

"Hit them back!" Ordered Fenris, " Escort screen forward. Advance on the spider ships. 2 missile waves, rapid sucession. And where the hell is the Harbringer tell them to hit those cruisers!"

******
The screen of Gunstars and Assault stars powered forward towards the Battlecrabs, two waves of missiles racing outward as they advanced. The Gunstars showered the ships in high energy plasma as they advanced. The bomber craft belatedly hit the Z ha dum ships. High-explosive torpedos raked the battlecrabs as the bomber made their runs, and the fighters endeavored to keep the shadow fighter away from the bombers.

The two patrolstars reached the Indiastan cruisers, apparently unnoticed. They watched as the 8 missiles and 2 railgun rounds from the Harbringer, blasted into the vessels from behind. They launched their 24 fighter and 24 bombers to join the 60 bomber and 60 fighter already about to slam into the rear of the cruiser formation. 6 missiles from the Patrolstars also joined the increasingly crowded space, racing inward at high speed towards the ships.
The Harbringer Captain could not believe his luck, The enemy was totally ignoring his ship. Their fighter craft had been sent towards the main battle apparently giving his ships a clear shot. They would pay dearly for their indiscrection.
The Harbringer its rotation and pointed its prow at the cruiser group. The dual railguns fired again, sending to more slugs at high sppeds towards the nearest Indiastani ship. another wave of missiles fired off, and finally the WIC (warp-instability cannon) was charged. The huge enrgy prongs mounted on the keel of the Warstar discharged, blasting coruscating extra-dimensional energy into one of the cruisers.
________

(Ok I know this is alot so ill sum up. Z ha dum, has 2 waves of about 50 missiles (small nuke) incoming along with a continous stream of plasma blasts from big twin mounted cannons on 8 gunstars. The whole screen of 17 assault stars and gunstars is moving directly towards the battlecrabs at relatively high speeds. Also about 170 bombers are hitting the 'crabs with high-explosive missiles.
Indiastan, apparently totally ignored my three ships that were attacking his cruisers. Since you said that your fighter, lasers, and missiles, were going into the "various ships" and you didn't mention that they were attacking the Warstar that jumped in behind them I assumed that you meant they were attacking the main ship group in fron of them. That why I said that you'd left the playing field free for my ships from the Harbringer and the patrolstars. So you've got 4 rail gun slugs, 22 missiles, about 80 bombers, and one massive (basically one hit kills) blast going into you, and apparently no fighter cover. in your own words... Cheers!)

(OOC: I find you comments to be... interesting, because I see nothing to suggest that you've really even noticed me. If you did start attacking me, you either forgot to mention it, or I can't find it. Sorry, wasn't intentional. Nothing like trying to get around behind me or the like. Oh, and I suppose I should give an account of the Omega-X. Its a Shadow hybrid, which rivals Menelmacari gravships in ability and weapons payload. The "lasers" are fusion and light fusion beam cannons, which are generally only rated lower then neutron weapons and other rather uber stuff, like the Shadow's main gun, in terms of power output and dectructive force. They mount two cannons on the prow, and four on the rear, with twelve light cannons mounted on turrets down the length of the ship. Attacking them fom behind is actually a dumb thing to do, because they've more firepower to the rear and flanks. They fighters are pretty standard, carrying a rapid-fire pulse cannon, and small eight fusion missiles. Cheers.)

"Sir!" yelled the Tactical officer aboard the flagship. "Ships approaching from the aft flanks, activly targetting..."

"Good," amiled Grant, "The light beamers should take care of them. Keep the aft guns hot just in case they don't learn their lesson."

While not as coordinated as before, the ships all started firing their flank light cannons at the approaching patrolstars. With twelve cannon on each side, it was arguable that the least of the ships firepower was actually to on the prow. Grant smiled as dozens of purple deams of death lanced out at the appraoching ships.

OOC: hmm... lets see... No, I'm not crazy, Check the last post on page 6. It does say in the third or fourth paragraph, that the Harbringer is ordered to "attack the other ships" meaning yours . And it also talks about the ship arriving behind the Omega-x's and firing on them. it's there. Also, I could have used that weapons description earlier rather than later. Oh well, I'll take into account the real power of those weapons now that I know. (grrr, stupid cruisers... who puts more guns on the rear anyway? The French!!??? :P  grrr!)

IC: The patrolstars are taken almost literally aback by the onslought of firepower. For a split second they glow purple as their hull circuitry struggles to compensate for the firepower, then their hulls peel and flake off and their engines explode and the ships are reduced to clouds of molten debris which patter harmlessly on the Omega-X's hulls.

The spactacle of the weapons blasts plays lights across the command deck of the Harbringer and across the stunned faces of the crew.
"Damnit!" yelled the Captain, "Hit them again!"

The ships charged its WIC and the twin energy prongs fired again, as the Dorsal railguns launched another volley of slugs in the cruisers. The bombers reached the cruiser group, and began firing high-explosive missiles into the ships weapons batteries.

(OK, Now Indiastan... if you don't start acknowledging the fact that I'm firing at you, then I'm going to have to start ignoring you. I realize that your ships are highly advanced, but that doesn't mean that you can just ignore my attack completely without even a damage post. Let me sum it up for you again.

1. 84 bombers are firing explosive missiles into your ships weapons.
2. 22 fifteen kiloton nuclear Anti-ship missiles will hit you in seconds.
3. 6 LARGE railgun slugs are seconds away from smashing into you.
4. 2 massive energy beams have hit two of your cruisers. These are the
shots from my only one hit kills gun.

Please do not ignore the damage. I dont think its fair for you to totally ignore my hits on you. If you want to check my posts for what i just wrote. Then check the last two posts. I will highlight the parts about the ships jumping in behind you and about them firing on you in bold. You can't miss them.

(Sorry, sorry. Didn't realize you're shooting at me. "Destroyers" is just a general term.. anyways, moving along.)

The Talisman, near the fore of the formation, took the brunt of the hits. The defence grid worked to eliminate the missiles, but some still go through, slamming into the reinforced rotating crew section. The railgun hits came next, and bright sparks and chunks of metal and bio-matter were hewn off the hull from their impacts. Still, this seemed to not slow down the ship at all, as it could be seen on some more acute scaners that the holes in the bio-armour were in fact closing themselves; they were healing themselves up. Two vast, clumsy bolts of energy flashed overhead, vapourizing a number of missiles and fighters, but missing the ships themselves, as they were protected by a slightly weaker version of the dampening fields used on Shadow vessels. The bombers really had little chance of even making it to the squadron - over five hundred attacking fighters stood between them. They loosed off missiles as the bombers approached, before closing to dogfighting range, in order to use their machine gun-like pulse cannons to maximum effects. The bombers ostensibly shot back, and more then a few Thunderbolts exploded in a flash of light and energy, but this did not deter them. Onward they came still.

The appearance of the Harbringer almost made Grant smile. The rear batteries would have a field day.

(Ok, what you also have to realize is that these ships are rather uber in themselves. Did you watch B5 b chance? Well, these things could go toe-to-toe with a Minbari Warcruiser, something that I doubt you could boast. ow, before you go calling a certain G-word, know that it is indeed rare for all 14 to be together - indeed, its never happened before (as they're pretty much brand new) and it'll likely never happen again. Now, my versions are a bit smaller then their small screen coutnerparts, but they're almost invisable. Almost. Slightly more so then the Shadow ships who's only weakness you somehow knew. After never having seen them before. Hmm. Cheers.)

By the way, It wasn't me that knew the Shadow's weakness. Valinon has taken on Shadow players before in character so his psychics knew what they were fighting. Hmmm I might still have something interesting...(rummages around) aha! muahahah! :)

IC: The command deck of the Harbringer is silent with disbelief as the ship's hull heals itself and shrugs off the WIC blasts.

"Nav." orders the captain, "Plot a short jump route out of here and have it ready. We cannot allow this ship to be destroyed, we'll jump out and leave it Valinon if this gets too ugly. Ordnance, load the CC-X missiles we recieved from Valinon, If those ships are alive and healing themselves then we may have a use for them here. Fire!"

2 waves of missiles in rapid sucession blasted out of their tubes 18 points of light roared toward the leab cruiser. For good measure the railguns fired again and the WIC blasted out also. Then they waited.

******
Ok, the CC-X missiles are a special creation of our dear Valinon. When the missiles explode they release a compound which acts as an enzyme breaking apart carbon to carbon bonds on the molecular level. Basically anything with carbon is eaten apart by the compond. The weapons was intended for use to bombard planets with and destroy basically any and all life in the target area, I think they should be interesting in this senario. And since were all in the mood for tossing thinly veiled jabs at each other
why not...? Cheers!
Valinon
22-12-2003, 06:06
OOC: Clearing up of the matter, seems my information to Falasmayon got fragmented. The CC-X missile is not a biological agent, since biotech is not my nation's forte. Instead it is a nano-tech based technology that basically attacks the integrity of bonds that are up to the strength of carbon-to-carbon bonds. The missile releases its carbon busters, weakening integrity, either causes break throughs or weakening the hull so that later attacks will break through.
Basically I fought a rather interesting nation who thought he could pull of diamond-hulled warships. Personally I think he had digested a little too much of Kevin J. Anderson's Saga of the Seven Suns series, so I decided to disallusion him.
And, Falasmayon, stick around. Ortaga has TGed me saying he will come of necessary, I am sure I can give Taka a ring. And remember, we have the ultimate card to play right next door.

Taka is still here, I'm waiting for NYJ to post damages. I'm not going to power down the nova cannon, yes, it does use a lot of power, I even wrote that into the post if you recall. . . Its about a 300 lb warhead, and we need to convert about 500 lbs of material in the Quantum singualrity generators to get it to near light speed. Its the kind of weapons thats only fitted on the heaviest of craft, and used very, very sparingly, so count yourself lucky *or unlucky as the case may be*. Its hardly a one hit kill weapon unless your ships have cardboard for armor or are frigate or smaller sized. It will severly damage what it hits, perhaps even criple it, however, I abhor instant kill weapons, and neither use them, nor let them kill my ships *ah the blessings of redundant shields.*

The longscan net keeps doing its nominal thing, feeding navigational data to anyone who asks for it. Quite decent sensors keep working - of course, this sort of thing mainly depends on ships keeping their transponders turned on.
Far superior sensors feet into the net's distributed nonsapient AI.

The unknown vessels have triggered quite a few alerts, though. One lightspeed datafeed reaches a comms relay assigned to WG Withered Flower after just a 45-minute lag. The intelligence shift tries to make heads or tails of the data, debating with the home office through limited QE comms.

The officers who finally manage to convince TSA that investigation is a priority fail to convince Command to detach the SATD-equipped vessels from the group to investigate. Frustration abounds... Withered Flower and its consorts are in dispersed formation, heading outsystem at relatively low velocity, drone-net spread to spot a nominally-allied craft probably due to pass through the volume covered.

The drone reappears fourteen lightyears away, lightdays from the brown dwarf nicknamed Murk, among debris and mines.

Lightseconds away, among the gravel, metal and diamondoid and fragile flesh hover in great thermal shrouds. Five ships, hulls swollen with power storage modules, take their leave of their bases, powering up and accelerating to match a velocity decribed.
