I wonder if your citizens have been noticing this trend... because if they do, they won't be happy at all with it. Let's hope they don't know, or it may lead to revolution.

ANN Special Report – “Air Force Becomes Educator to the Masses in The southpacific”

Heart AFB, Arrio, Aequatio - An Aequatian Air Force B-52H Stratofortress returned moments ago after it flew over the capital city of The southpacific dropping leaflets which contained information on the nation's current trend in rising taxes in hopes of educating the people on the tax's evolution and hopefully sparking a debate whether there is possibly a hidden agenda in corrupt government spending or salary hikes going to those in power in The southpacific.

The citizens of the Aequatian Republic are very altruistic and compassionate in their nature, they understand that their money helps the entire population of the state. As well, they have every right to investigate and input suggestions on where money is transfered within the administration of the Republic through representatives within the National Senate (which is one third of the government organization). We are not a corrupt state as many would be led to believe.

A Sliponian talk radio station, WKRS, heard all through Sliponia and surrounding countries had this broadcast from radio personality John Scott.
Messages expressed by this person do not neccisarily relfect those of Sliponian officials or WKRS.

"You know what I think about this? I only wish Sliponia's taxes where at 37%! But hey, I can't complain too much, they have been dropping...We've gone down from 75% to 61%. It could always be worse, we could have 100% like the money hungry fools from Aequatio. But of course all my rivals, including our president, tells me that even though it's 100%, the country doesn't squander any money...Right! Now if only Sliponia could get back on track. We look like America in the 1980s! The rich are getting richer and the poor are getting poorer, something must be done now! Luckily, our president agrees with me on that topic."

ANN Special Report – “Street Talk - Taxes in the Republic”

Magna Casa, Aequatio - Since talk has arisen in the Republic about the high tax rate in the nation, we have decided to go to the street to see what the average citizen thinks of the tax rate.

Joesph Franklin, a worker for the Aequatian Postal Office had this to say: "Yeah, taxes are pretty high... but it's just how it's always been. I mean, us Aequatians just like to help people, especially if they can't help themselves... the same goes for whenever we go to war, it's usually to help others."

Mary Higgins, a social worker for the Aequatian Social Welfare Department of the government gave us these comments: "All of our money does go to the government... but it does all help, pretty much everyone lives comfortably, there's no real upper or lower class... just one huge middle class. However, there are those who live a bit larger than the average person... but that's only those higher up in the government, and they don't live to better than any citizen. Then you have those who live below, but we usually take care of them by supporting them and giving them a proper home."

A man only known as "Fox", the head of the Right-Wing Organization "People for Financial Freedoms" had this to say: "The government is just decieving you... all of our money just goes to defence spending... people of the Republic... rise up and reclaim your money--" He was cut off as Aequatian Armed Forces Rangers broke in and immediately arrested him and he was sent to a re-education centre. His current whereabouts are unknown at this time.

The nation of the albino sloths would like to keep tax levels down to under 35% in a effort to have a solid balence between the people and government. Anything under about 40% should be good to keep the peace.

Bah. You silly fools and your high tax rates. Citizens pay a flat income tax of 1% in the Empire. The economy is larger than ever and our people as happy as can be. Our military is still one of the top 500 in the world to boot!
