South Pacific begins bombing of -Taliban

30-11-2003, 04:13
Minutes ago the first South Pacific bombs fell on Taliban targets.
Specifically targeted were the Ministry of Religious Affairs, the Defense Ministry, radar installations, airstrips, and TV and radio towers operated by Bin Laden's henchmen.
We regret there may be collateral damage, but this is a price we must pay to put an end to evil once and for all. We have special ops on the ground helping Pres. Fubar get to the safety of the Glorious Humanity Compound.
We will be training his people to better take on Bin Laden's evil forces.
We will strike at the terrorists where ever we find them and we warn all nations not to give them refuge or face our wrath.

Death to South Pacific, exclaimed supporters of Bin Laden V.
100 suicide bombers volunteered to blow up the Glorious humanity troops defiling Taliban lands.
Bin Laden V ordered a manhunt for the people from SP who were defiling the land by their existence.
Death to the enemies of Islam.

"Sir, we have incoming," the radarman spoke up.

Captain Eliza Culkin, like all the female officers in the Glorious Humanity military, let the "Sir" pass without comment. Despite a rather solid female presence in Glorious Humanity's armed forces, all officers regardless of sex were still addressed with the archaic "Sir". Sooner or later someone would likely change that, but for now...

"What kind of incoming?" she inquired.

"Weird incoming," the radarman replied. "They're trying to be sneaky, and failing miserably. But they aren't armed. If this is a sneak attack, I'm not sure what the point is."

"Do we have visual yet?" she asked.

"Negative," he replied. During the night, Security cameras had been added to the firebase's defenses. "Wait, wait... ah yeah, there they are." He pointed up to a small television screen that showed the world in the gray-green of nightvision. A couple clicks of a small switch under the screen cycled through the various camera views, until one showing people appeared.

Culkin narrowed her eyes as she watched. "Oh they're armed alright," she grimaced. She pointed at the screen. "See how they're kind of bulky under their clothes? Switch to infrared."

A couple clicks of a different switch lit the world up in red. Now the stalkers were clearly visible, as were several oblong shapes that were cooler than the hot bodies they were strapped to. The radarman whistled.

"What do we do?"

"We let them get to the fence. I imagine quite a few of them will barbeque themselves nicely as soon as they touch it. Then we cut the rest down with the machine guns," Culkin replied. She then turned towards her comm man. "Give the orders."

The first two holy warriors pull out wire cutters but are jolted to death by the electrical current, as they weren't wearing gloves and were using cutters with metal handles.
The rest of the groups of 20 jihadists pull gloves out of their pockets to cut the fencing.

"They're at the fence," the radarman said. "Starting to cut it."

"Let 'em rip, and light it up," Culkin ordered.

Outside, shrill attack whistles suddenly pierced the night, and the .50 cal machine guns roared into life, firing in the general direction of the bombers. At the same time several squads of soldiers took off, running for the perimeter pulling large mobile floodlights behind them in order to give the gunners some light to shoot by.

WE are in the process of bombing Taliban cities indiscriminately in retaliation for their attack on our country.
The people of the USSW are very angry and out for revenge.
The only good Taliban is a dead Taliban.
30-11-2003, 06:10
We urge Whittier not to kill civilians. This will make it worse for him in the future.

death to Whittier.

Your first post, I'd think.... basically it's all fine, just slightly unrealistic. I probably exaggerated a bit when I said "horribly".

How should I fix it. Is that too many? Or is it something else?

OOC: Let's just ignore the fact I said anything, okay? Back on topic now,
IC: The nation advises TSP and Whittier to avoid injuring or killing innocent civilians. We would pledge troops, but I'd need to clear it with the GDODAD first.

Glorious Humanity firebase

The large floodlights still lit up the perimeter, only now they were for cleanup and repair crews. Dawn was breaking, in another half hour things would be light enough that the floodlights could be shut off. The electrical fence had been shut off so repairs could be made to the damaged sections.

The suicide bombers had been driven off, many of them had been killed, but some had decided their lives were worth more after all. The dead lay everywhere, some unlucky ones in various pieces. Though none of the bombers had reached the defenses, some had blown up, wreaking havoc on the fencing. The repair teams were working quickly to get these fixed, before any more attacks arrived.

Overhead, the first of the welcome reinforcements were arriving by helicopter and paradrop. The advance force was swelling rapidly, now up to eight thousand soldiers at the base. Behind the firebase, more tents were being pitched, and new lines of fencing were going up. C-130 planes airdropped supplies into the base, and construction began on an airstrip.
