Sadly our navy is prohibited by law from purchasing nuclear-powered naval vessels.

Though we do like your designs. We are currently in the process of R&D on a new diesel-electric attack sub.

Perhaps our researchers could visit your naval yards to see if we might be able to collaborate in some way?

Please advise via telegram.

The Navy of the Republic will purchase one of your Nova Hydrogen-Hybrid Generator subs for use in trials versus another 'conventional' powered boat our research teams have been developing.

We shall dispatch a skeleton crew in one of our existing diesel-electric boats to pick up the sub and bring it to our r/d facility.

Total cost: 2.3 billion Rand to be wired upon confirmation.

If you don't mind, we have a few technical questions:
- What is the name of this class of sub?
- What is the submerged speed?
- Is it capable of laying mines?

Assuming it does well in the trials, we may be looking to purchase a full squadron of these boats. We hope to be back in touch within a few NS months.

Thank you.

Its called the Hai Teng (Chinese for Dolphin) Class SSK/H... Its top submerged speed is approximately 33 knots... It cannot lay mines, but a special mine-laying device can be installed...

Just curious, how does the Challenger Class SSN manage 50+ knots?
Five Civilized Nations
22-12-2003, 04:43
Its operating a heavily modified nuclear reactor capable of performing at 200% capacity... The top speed of the Challenger at 100% is only 33 and 1/3 knots...
Ruhr
22-12-2003, 16:57
How can it run at 200% without turning the surrounding waters into plasma? (I am talking about a nuclear meltdown)
Five Civilized Nations
23-12-2003, 05:10
That is a secret nobody can know
Ruhr
23-12-2003, 05:36
On the Swordfish Class, you have dual shafts...how do you have a towed array? Dual shafts screw up the towed array.
Five Civilized Nations
23-12-2003, 05:42
I just discovered the answer to your previous question... The reason that my Challenger can move at 50+ knots is because of its two nuclear reactors. For the Swordfish, the shaft is not the propellors by something inside the reactors...
Ruhr
23-12-2003, 22:18
Challenger, many submarines have two reactors and are roughly the same size as yours. This submarine needs to put out excessively high ammounts of SHP to get 50 knots, and if it designed like the picture and specs have it...it would need lots.

As for the Swordfish, how many proppellors does it have?
Five Civilized Nations
23-12-2003, 22:40
All my subs, except my SSBNs, which I haven't posted, have one propeller...
