.:Steel-Orion News Special Report:.

“This is Clint Jecht reporting for Steel-Orion News. After more that two months without one, Emperor Alexander Nemerov is about to announce late this afternoon the new Commander of the Imperial Space Fleet and Marines. We bring you this live from outside the Temple of the Aeons…”

http://69.57.141.218/237/117/upload/p60.jpg

A man, quite young in age, approached the podium. He took a look at the ancient gods of the planet and fashioned himself one of them. “Not yet…” he thought to himself.

“I welcome you,” he started, hiding his excitement with his tone. “…to the dawn of a new era.” Looking south, he pointed. “As the sun sets on this glorious day, you are here witnessing the beginning of another. For too long the Empire has stood idle while others took free land. For too many years the Empire has watched weak nations rise to power, corrupt and vice. Two decades ago, we were forced from our colony on Earth, millions slaughtered by a terrorist, our Emperor slain. Many years prior to that, we were ordered to stop colonizing Earth’s moon, and abandoned the project. I ask you all: How long until those of Earth press further towards the Orion Sector, our splendid sector of space, and then towards Steel Butterfly itself? How many years until the Sol system’s lies and deception begin to affect others around them, spanning the galaxy? We must meet the threat with our valor, our blood, indeed with our very lives if necessary to insure that Steel Butterfly civilization, and not that of the Sol system, dominates this galaxy now and always! Let it be known, that if any Sol vessel enters range of our border ships on the Orion Sector, they will be thoroughly and swifty disposed of. ‘Only in death does duty end’ my friends, and I, Sky Marshall Michael Zephyr, along with this Empire, plan to live for evermore!”

The estatic crowd rose to its feet applauding. Nemerov was quite impressed with this man. He had made the perfect choice. As the sun set and the lights rose on the temple, the Sky Marshall looked once more at the ancient gods and fashioned himself part of their most holy clique. He smiled…all was well…

We are a little irked as to the Sky Marshal's stance on the Sol System. Tell us... is this the stance of the entire Empire Mr. Nemerov? Is this new dawn going to shine light on a blood ridden battlefield?

On another note, since you will no longer be associating with Sol nations... will you require trade and non agression treaties with non-Sol nations? I do not mean to be forceful, but it is always better to have some friends in outer space than none at all.

Blu and the X-series are once again assembled within the Council Environment, stern expressions mirrored on all present. "Steel Butterfly has announced the promotion of their new Sky Marshal." Blu's voice expresses the concern ladening the meeting with tension. "Apparently he is quite the warlord."*
*
X4 frowns slightly, and peruses the datatransfer from the Mainframe's communications array. "Do We believe he will pose a threat?"*
*
X1 shakes his head. "Possibly. However, We have maintained a decent relationship with Steel Butterfly up until now, and I doubt that Nemerov would endanger that."*
*
A moment of silence passes, and then Blu speaks up. "I will send a transmission to this Sky Marshal congratulating him on his promotion... I will use it to feel him out."* *
*
The X-series voice their acknowledgement, and they all fade from existance.

((Will post the transmission later))

"The Sky Marshall is the official speaker on this topic," Nemerov replied.

"Blood ridden battlefield?" Zephyr mused, stepping foward. "That shall be the choice of those members of that bastard star system. However, all current trade agreements and non-agression pacts with non-Sol nations still stand naturally. Actually, all trade agreements and non-agression pacts with Sol nations also stand, and are their's to break. This is merely a needed precaution taken to ensure the saftey of our empire and our people. We are also still involved and active in the Order of the Seraphim and have no plans to change that. Good day, Mr. Guilder."

Admiral Jameson scowled. How would this pretain to them? The Discord and three escorts were in the Orion Sector at the moment... While they had given up ties with Sol, they where still acting under the laws of Crimmond and regulations of the Crimmond Space Fleets. "Send a response. We are unclear on how this announcement would pretain to our... unique situation. Could you clarify?"

Jameson pauses. "The Crimmar is worth about... Peron, what's the uplink to the markets say? Ah... about four USD, at the moment. Before you start powering up those shiny warships of yours... know that piracy is down 15% in areas Task Force Renegade patrols. The site of a Vlad-Class Heavy Battlecruiser or even our small Nebulon-G destroyers is enough to deter an attack. They flee in absolute terror when we get the two dreadnaughts, this one and the Red Talon, out on the spacelanes." While saying this, he gets up and walks towards the screen, standing with his hands behind him, giving orders while speaking to the Sky Marshall.

The main engines and FTL drives begin to come online, weapons on standby and alarms sounding General Alert Level 2(OOC: 1 is battlestations, 2 is preperation for battle, 3 is normal conditions) everywhere on the ship except the bridge.

When Damien was not busy fighting the Omzians, he was informed of the latest news in AMF, the GDODAD....but the one report that caught his eye was the speech of a young Michael Zephyr. Damien was rather intrigued at what the young man said, and he sent him a personal message.

I have heard your words, young Zephyr, and I am rather impressed. You remind me alot of myself in my younger days....such fire, such passion....such ambition. I forsee a bright and historic future for you young Zephyr, but I want you to know this: with great change comes great resentment. I forsee you rising to power and taking your nation to new heights, much as I did with Automagfreek.

Expect your quest to be filled with doubt and jealousy from your peers, but do not cave under the pressure. If the flame inside you never dies, then there truely be no stopping you in whatever you set your mind to.

I look forward to watching you mold a new future for your people.

The new Sky Marshall read the note, printed it, pocketed it, and then deleted the message. Such things could be considered treason in the Empire, but although Damion spelled his name wrong, he was quite happy.

He did tie Warheit, his predecessor, for the title of "Youngest Commander Ever" at the age of 25. Perhaps Emperor wasn't far off. But not now...no...he rather liked Nemerov.

Grand Duchy of Tarasovka,
Sisgardia.

The entire High Council was gathered. Even the Grand Duke, who had just returned from his trip to the Empire of Valinon. Subject of the day – new aggressive statement made by the new Sky Marshal of the Steel Butterfly Armed Forces towards the nations of the Solar System. Among them – the Grand Duchy itself…

Not that the HCoD was worried. But it preferred taking no risks. After only 10 minutes of talks, it was decided to withdraw the TSC-1 Mobile Shipyards and Colony from the outskirts of the Orion Sector to… the border space of the Orion Sector, before making a jump to Earth Orbit and orbit Sisgardia…

The HCoD decided not to break any ties with the Empire and watch carefully its next steps. Indeed, the Empire was a long standing ally of the Grand Duchy and the statement done by Sky Marshall Michael Zephyr quite ‘surprised’ the HCoD. To break old alliances in one single paragraph? The HCoD could do that. For what? It was not decided yet…

Dear Sirs,

The recent statement made by the most honorable members of the highest hierarchy of the Star Empire of Steel Butterfly concerning the new policy of the said Empire towards the Solar System has risen a number of questions from the High Council of Duchy as of the said policy. Such questions being:

* Diplomatic stance of the Star Empire towards the Grand Duchy and its interests in the Orion Sector?
* Military stance of the Star Empire towards the TSC-1 Mobile Shipyards and Colony?
* Juridical stance of the Star Empire towards the presence of the TSC-1 in the Orion Sector?
* To what extent does the Imperial Military influence the decisions of the Imperial Leadership?
Allow us, most honorable colleagues, to also inform you that the aforementioned TSC-1 has been put under a high state of alert and will be shortly receiving two more TSF Battlegroups to reinforce its Escort.

Thank you for your attention,
High Councilor of Duchy for Foreign Affairs,
Leib-Count Alexei Nemirov
