A darkness in Tordor side event: The assassins.

TLPA plans were not going well, They had failed to wipe out the Loyalist Royal forces in their surpise uprising, Taking the Euorpa Brittania base took more lives than expected, the IDI nation of Belem and the former IDI nation Western Asia had came to the aide of the Loyalists. So while the battles raged, they set into motion operation Chairman Woe's revenge. 150 Assassins were disbatched to kill the Rulers of Ariddia, Teritora, Xanthal, Cyberutopia, Oglethorpia, Belem, Western Asia, Kecha, Garrison II, Vorena, Europa Brittania and all other nations of the IDI past and present they could locate and finally the ruler Menelmacar for that little Gav fleet invasion. If the assassins could not get to their targetss themselves, they were to hire assassins from countries that were allowed to enter those countries where the targets were. Chairman Woe would have his revenge from beyond the grave or so the TLPA thought.

Admiral Mickey Hatfield, Commander of the Navy Intelligence Service.

They would be reviewing all information they had thus far, trying to find what was going on.

Bad timing there T-man. Your job would've been a whole lot easier when there was only one authority. Now there are over 100. You can't kill them all, and those that you do are easily replaced. Democracy thwarts yet another evil plot! Yes!
Also, I still want to know why your people have a grudge against us. We haven't been an IDI member for centuries, and we didn't participate in the war against you when we were in the IDI. Is it just a deal of guilty by association?

...Anyway, I'm standing by for this to become an RP instead of an announcement.

The Assassins boarded planes, ships and other means of transportion as they headed to their target areas, they would pick up their weapons after they arrived. They were dressed as businessmen, as Tourists or anything that would get them into the countries they were heading for afterwards they planned on dispearing into population as they prepared to kill their targets, preferablely out in public.

The Capital
Los Polverines, Porlamar

The assassins had made their way into Oglethorpia, and into the capital of the great nation; only because of the lax immigration laws.

But everywhere the assassins went, they drew odd looks, stares, and though they did not know it, thoughts of suspicion as to what the tiny, pitiful creatures were up to.

The 4'8 Japanese Tordorians would be singled out; because the average Oglethorpian is either Caucasian or South American in descent. And because they would never meet President Marvin Thomas in his quarters, their only chance would be to take a shot at the President during some sort of public function.

One of such kind taking place in a few short days, in Tripoli, Oglethorpia -- a public speech in front of the Parliament building detailing finance spendings for the new year.

The 20 Tordoran assassins were happy about this, they could work their way into the crowd with hidden pistols and gerenades while others could hopeful take shots from a distance. Two of them began to scout out the area before the speech to see good locations for assassinations and building that would be a good place for snipers.

The Other Capital
Tripoli, Maracaibo

Tripoli.

Capital of the state of Maracaibo, and Oglethorpia's other major city.

It was also Parliament's seat of power, before the Roman-inspired building a podium, cordoned off from the general public. They would undoubtedly gather around the President, who was expected to detail a small portion of the year's finances.

The secuirity for President Marvin Thomas was no different than it had ever been; two bodyguards, and those patrolling the crowd looking for any trouble.

Traffic on all nearby thoroughfairs was closed off; besides President Marvin's two bodyguards, stood Foreign Relations Director Gordon Newell and Strategic Deployment Director Donald Anderson.

"My fellow Oglethorpians," began President Marvin, addressing the great crowd, "this year brings us many great tidings. I am pleased to report that taxes will go down to 39%; and that you will see this reduction in tax refunds that will take place in a few short weeks." The President paused for a minute, to shuffle through his papers.

The Tordorians, upon reaching customs, were immeditely taken into custody and interrogated. ...and with the shot, chaos erupted; the two bodyguards acted as they had been trained to, ushering President Marvin down to the ground while secuirty around the crowd sprung into action.

Already, the would-be-assassin was taken into custody and a search mounted on the nearby streets for the similar looking Tordorian folk.

The one shot the assassin had on the Oglethorpian leadership had failed. And now, across the nation; the Tordorian assassins would be apprehended.

Random Police Station
Tripoli, Maracaibo

The short, 4'8 Tordorian assassin was hauled to a local precinct police station; the police didn't know that he was part of an entire scheme to assassinate the President.

But they'd attempt to find out what they could.

Sitting before the small creature in a spartan room with only a metal table and two shabby chairs, a policeman questioned the Tordorian; whose weapon(s) had been confiscated.

"Where are you from?" he began, testing the Tordorian to see if he would resist questioning.

News outlets had not yet broken the story, and despite the presence of presidential secuirity guards; no one knew if the would-be-assassin was a looney or part of some larger assassination scheme.

---

Back at the police station, the officers and detectives were utterly baffled with the miniature Mongol whom was in their custody.

REVANE INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT
PEOPLE'S DEMOCRATIC SOCIAL REPUBLIC OF ARIDDIA

"Hello, sir. Welcome to Rêvane. Passport and entry card, please?"

The immigration officer flicked through the passport the sullen-faced Oriental man handed him. It was a Tordoran passport. The officer didn't think much of it; the war led by Ariddia upon Tordoran hostage-takers had taken place many years ago. Just recently, the two nations had established embassies on each other's territories.

He looked through the entry card. Under "reason for visit", the man had ticked "business". He scanned and saved the passport's photo page, filed the card, and handed the passport back to him.

"Please declare any weapons, animal products and any other illicit goods as you go through customs. You can get your bags by going down and right." He pointed. "If you have any questions about conducting business under Ariddian communist law, there are information points in this airport where you can ask. Enjoy your stay."

OOC: I don't know where your assassins are going to get weapons, though. All firearms are restricted to the police and military, and passengers and bags are scanned in the airport.

Prime Secretary Endor goes out in the streets on foot fairly often, just to walk for exercise, or to go shopping, etc... There will be armed bodyguards in civilian clothing mingling with passers-by.

Hope Anderson alternated her attention between the Prime Secretary and the passers-by, buildings and hover-cars in the bustle of the afternoon street. She so wished the Prime Secretary wouldn't insist on doing his own shopping - on foot, too, to make matters worse.

Anderson was small and slim, not exactly your typical bodyguard, pretty enough to stand out in a crowd, with her deep black hair and blue eyes, but by no means conspicuous in her job.

Up front, François Lecap, his other bodyguard - a tall man with very pale brown skin betraying his part-Wymgan ancestry - was likewise fully alert.

Not they had any reason to fear an attack. After all, there had never been any attempts in his life bef-

A bang like thunder split above the noises of the street, silencing them in the brief second before they changed to screams of panic, and echoing round her mind. As though in slow motion, she saw the Prime Minister thrown sideways against a wall, clutch his arm in shock, and slide and collapse onto the pavement.

In a split second, she had her stun dart gun out. The assassin was making little effort to conceal himself, and was the only man standing still - other than Lecap - as everyone else ran. She turned and fired. Her first shot went wide, the dart shattering against a wall, but her second was right on target. The man crumpled.

"An ambulance!" Lecap was shouting as he searched for other threats. "Someone get an ambulance!"

Hope Anderson sat down facing the captured assassin; several other bodyguards had taken her place by the Prime Secretary's side in hospital, and a number of armed guards were standing in and outside this room in an annex to the Ministry of Intelligence.

Charles Baker had recieved the call to pick up a message.

He had confirmed it with the Office of Government Releases.

And now, from the Regulatory Office of Government Releases, he had in his hands the bleak yellow parchment; the color of choice for all official government releases intended for its employees.

Intelligence Director Charles Baker read the message; it detailed the Cyberutopian detainment and interrogation of citizens attempting to enter the country.

Baker read on; reading the words again. Rumors of Tordoran assassins being sent into IDI countries...

Baker picked up the nearest phone and quickly called Guy McLellan.

McLellan picked up his cell phone; first leaving the interrogation room, the small Tordoran still sitting there in the metal chair.

"Guy -- Cyberutopian intelligence has rumors that Tordoran assassins have been sent into IDI countries," said Intelligence Director Charles Baker.
"No -- are you suggesting-" McLellan said, confused.
"Yes, I bet. And there are probably more. More...aggressive steps must be taken," suggested Baker.
"Right," said McLellan, then turning off his phone.

Time was set against the efforts of Shin Bet. Although the intelligence services had expected some form of direct attack on IDI-associated nations by Tordoran TLPA agents, they’d had a hard time seeking out the operatives. The small Tordoran community of refugees—rescued some 30 years before—was now large and vibrant.

A few community leaders were contacted and had been cooperating eagerly with the Shin Bet efforts, but the fact that the Tordorans were not commonly seen as a threat in Western Asia made the danger posed by the foreign agents all the greater.

Shin Bet had a few leads from Mossad and some from Western Asian citizens of Tordoran extraction, but the size of the threat...and its schedule...remain unknown. A few Tordoran nationals had been turned away from various airports when discrepencies in their travel records raised suspicions, but neither Mossad nor Shin Bet had the opportunity or authority to speak to those men before they were once again out of the country. Now the game of cat-and-mouse is hurried forward with all haste.

Downtown Tel Aviv
1710 hours Zulu

A Shin Bet operations unit* has moved in to position on a tip, in the back alleyway of an apartment building, where any TLPA operatives would not see them. Four operatives dressed in their tactical gear climb slowly and quietly up the outside fire escape, using the evening shadows and the noise of rush hour to cover their movements as they climb to the third floor. Meanwhile, a three-man security team dressed as civilians (although bearing Micro Uzis and Sig 228 pistols hidden under their coats) makes its way around the block before entering the apartment building by the front entrance.

The two men and woman take the stairs and hurry to their positions. Once in place, they click their radio three times to report that they’re in position, and then they wait.

HUMINT sources had informed the team that a group of foreign Tordorans was supposed to have taken out a room in this building and while they registered themselves as "businessmen" for the passport desk, phone taps did not reveal any very business-like phone calls over the last few days. They’d mostly used the phone to order food deliveries and to make calls to suspected black market dealers that were suspiciously vague in content and character.

The commander notes that all operatives are in position and he gives the teams the go-code.

The security team approaches the apartment door and draws its weapons. The leader stands against the wall next to the door and raises his hand to his side, knocking three times on the door.

The entry team, positioned about a pair of rear windows for the apartment, blow open the glass windows and pop-in a pair of flash-bangs before rushing in, their CTAR-21 Tavor Commandos at the ready as they shout commands at the suspected foreign agents.

The Security team leader lifts his leg and slams his boot back into the door, pulling it open, and his team enters to join their teammates within.

One man within the main room tries to pull a pistol from his pant-waist, but a double-tap to the man’s center of mass from an entry-team member ends that thought as the man crumples to the ground—dead.

The entry team members rush to clear the other rooms in the apartment as the security team moves in to control the surrendering Tordorans.

In the sound-and-fury of the assault, the four other Tordoran operatives within the apartment are in disarray and find themselves pinned to the ground and flexi-cuffed before they have much time to think about their capture. With the suspects under control, the Shin Bet team can take the time to look around the room.

They are relieved that they were so lucky in this raid. They find a half-dozen AK-47s piled in one of the bed-rooms. Two more automatic rifles are found, disassembled, in a pair of canvas bags on the bed and a pile of pistols, mostly of poor quality, sit on tables in the same room.

The intelligence agents also find several documents, including the announced schedule of the President for the coming weekend visit to the area and what appeared to be TLPA reports on his security detail. The Shin Bet officers also find a pair of cellular phones, stolen, and record the last few numbers dialed.

Within a few minutes, several police officers have made their way to the apartment and take over the scene as the TLPA operatives are lead off for interrogations. From the number of weapons in the apartment, it seems that other TLPA operatives might still be on the loose.

A few hours later, the Tordorans begin to crack under the "encouragement" of the Shin Bet and associated Mossad officers. The cell numbers recorded from the Tordorans’ phones are linked to stolen phones that are soon located in Jerusalem when a call is made from one of them. Another operations team sets out for the location to gather HUMINT on the lead as interrogations continue.

OOC: Sorry for the delay, RL hassles never end. This should be placed before the execution of these other assassination attempts.

Tordor, feel free to pick what your men say. I’m assuming that about 15 of your men are in-country, with the others turned away for suspicion at airport international traveler checking stations. Also, is your last post in the other thread an attack on my ships?

The men, whose bravado means little to the interrogators, do not escape the focus of the questioning but are rather "encouraged"--both verbally and otherwise--to reveal more of their operations. The agents are already well-aware of the men's intentions...there is little to mistake in that matter. They only look for the clues that will give up the rest of the infiltrators.

------

On the Outskirts of Jerusalem
2123 hours Zulu

The team establishes its monitoring operations for the new set of suspects. A local direction-finding radio receiver has guided the team to a run-down hotel in the poor immigrant neighborhoods to the East of the Old City.

Several tailing teams are assigned to the location as other agents begin to search for blueprints stored in public records and for information related to the suspects.

2300 hours

Within a short time of setting up shop, the watchers of Shin Bet are rewarded for their preparations: a man of clear Tordoran descent emerges from the building and begins to walk down the street towards a liquor store. A few moments later, an agent, dressed in ruffled street clothes, enters the store shortly after the man and begins to look through the racks of cheap alcohol…keeping an eye on the suspect as he does so.

The agent spots a suspicious character, dressed in a long dark coat and a baseball cap low over his eyes, enter the store within a few minutes, who makes eye contact with the Tordoran, buys a mint from the cashier, and then leaves. The Tordoran tries to hide it, but he clearly checks his watch to leave a minute and a half later.

The agents ducks down behind the racks and opens a line to his teammates outside, alerting them to a possible deal. Another Shin Bet operative outside begins to follow the men from one approach as others prepare to intercept the mission farther along.

Agents on nearby rooftops aim long-range listening dishes towards the men and wait for a conversation to begin. Within a few minutes, they’ve placed themselves on a nearby street beside the suspected dealer’s car.

One agent is in position to capture their exchanges, the dealer is the first to speak after he’s looked around for police cars or any ‘watchers’. He sees none and so begins…but they’re there, even if he can’t see them,."…I’ve got most of what you folks asked for, some things I’ve had to offer replacements for…it isn’t easy to get these types of weapons, especially on such short notice."

The short man, speaking with a slight Tordoran accent, replies: "We understand that these matters can be difficult. You can be certain that you will be well-compensated for your work, and we thank you for it as well. Let’s see what you have gathered for us."

The dealer walks to the rear of his car and pops open the trunk, the two men are slightly obscured from visual observation, but their words can still be collected.

"Here are the carbines you ordered…some of those had to be replaced by Tavors that I had in stock, but they’re just as good… and here’s the scoped rifle. I wasn’t able to get the launcher you wanted, but I pressed a few connections and found some LAW pods for your men. They should work for whatever you want them to do."

"These seem to be good, but let me talk to my associates. I’ll be back in an hour with your…well-earned rewards. Meet me at the spot we agreed upon in our last meeting."

The agent from Tordor walks on and around the block before returning to his apartment building.

The agents take little time in acting. A rough entry plan is made for the operations unit’s assault group and tails are sent after the arms dealer’s car. A digital copy of the recorded audio is sent to a Shin Bet legal representative in a court, where the judge reviews the presented evidence, yielded by the special permit he‘d approved only a few hours beforehand, and issues the arrest warrants for the dealer and any suspected Tordoran agents in the apartment. The news is related to the rest of the team and the operation is set to begin.

The man stops his car a few blocks away and walks into a greasy diner, where he orders a late dinner for himself. One of his tails enters and takes a booth across the aisle.

Other agents continue to monitor the conversations that they can pick up from the TLPA agents’ apartment. There is some debate about funds but it is soon ended when the leader of the group reminds them, in vague terms, of a schedule that they have to keep. The listeners agree on a group of 4-6 enemy operatives and the assault team prepares for the challenge.

Another pair of Shin Bet agents appear in an unmarked car outside of the arms dealer’s restaurant as the man walks out towards his car. The tailing agent, who appears immediately behind the man, suddenly grabs him by the arm and, twisting his wrist back as he delivers a swift kick to the back of one of his knees, forces him to the ground. The rear driver’s side door to the Shin Bet car is thrown open by one of the agents within, who then jumps out to help his teammate. The man finds himself face-down on the sidewalk, his hands bound in flexicuffs, as he comes to realize what has just happened to him. But it is already too late for him to respond as the suspect is forced into the back of the car. The pedestrian agent searches the man and pulls out a loaded pistol and the man’s car keys.

The two agents and the captured man ride quickly off to the local command center for holding. The whole snatch-and-grab effort takes only a few moments and the Shin Bet man on foot walks quickly over to the dealer’s car. He opens the trunk and confirms over the radio net that the trunk contains several assault rifles as well as a scoped sniper’s rifle and a number of pistols. A number of ballistic vests were also found—stolen IDF stock, as were a dozen tactical radios and a powerful laptop computer with rudimentary electronic warfare equipment attached.

The trunk is closed again as the car is searched. A tow truck is called in from nearby to tow the vehicle to storage for proper evidence gathering against the arms dealer.

By the time that the Tordoran agent sets off for the diner, Shin Bet already has its trap set for the second group of the late Chairman Woe’s followers.

The agents wait for the first TLPA agent to re-emerge from the apartment…to meet with his long-gone contract. As the man leaves the apartment building, he is marked and watched as he trails away, bearing a large backpack full of cash.

A few moments later, another Tordoran follows his comrade into the night.
Two blocks down, the agent is met a similar fate as his contact. He is stuffed into the back of a car and disappears. His fellow operatives don’t hear the screeching tires within their apartment, but soon enough they’ll have little care for his fate. His back-up man doesn’t notice his own tail until it is too late and a quick Blackjack swipe later the man is unconscious and being loaded into another Shin Bet car.

2438 hours

The Shin Bet operations unit is now ready to grab the Tordoran agents.

A local LE SWAT team has been called in to help Shin Bet’s entry group and the entire party is loaded into a pair of plain, unmarked vans. As the hour approaches, final weapons and equipment checks are instituted throughout the assault group.

2456 hours

The assault group’s vans pull up to the front entrance of the apartment building. The vans are generally unremarkable save the large group of armed men exiting the vehicles and rushing into the building.

The agents rush up the two stairwells of the building as security groups cover the building exits and elevators. Within a couple of minutes, the teams are all in position.

2458 hours

Guns at the ready and battering ram at the front, the SWAT team members wait for the signal.

2459 hours

At the minute mark, a silent count-down begins. At 10 seconds, the battering ram is raised.

0100 hours

With a tremendous crash, the ram breaks down the door to the apartment and, following a pair of flashbangs, the SWAT team rushes the room. A second wave, consisting of Shin Bet agents, follows right after the first.

The Tordorans are mostly caught off-guard…three are found just awoken…and none are found to be armed, to the great relief of the entry teams.

More documents are found this time, apparently this team had been assigned targets within the Western Asian military. Base locations and information were tacked to the wall, with some base and personnel listings marked up to indicate targets.

The captured men were swiftly removed from the scene and were ushered into separate vehicles to prevent their conspiring to spread misinformation. In all, five agents were found in the apartment and eight people had been detained by Shin Bet for questioning. The arms dealer was soon handed over to more appropriate authorities and a string of weapons busts was to follow on the information that Shin Bet had been able to extract from him.

One note in the apartment left the Shin Bet officers feeling very uncomfortable, however, as a hand-scrawled list noted that another group of Tordoran assassins was in country and still at large. This time, the men’s cell phones and call records revealed no other group. A few more surveillance operations across the country occupy the time of other Shin Bet groups until well into the next day, but they all turn out to be dead ends.

The coordinator of Operation: Housekeeper was very disturbed by the realization and that, in spite of the successes of the previous day, there were few clues about the third group. In a meeting the next morning, he realized the truth: the other groups might have been intentional ruses and baits to draw his men away from the real prize. The coordinator and his officers continue to evaluate the papers found in the apartments, futilely hoping for some clues about the last group.

The President’s office was informed of the nights progress at 0500 hours and the President’s security detail was put on high alert. The next 24 hours would be a bumpy ride.

They were not going to themselves that job was for others, their first mission, was to defile the wailing wall, the dome of the rock and several of the holiest sites for christians in a effort to destablize Western Asia making it look like members from each relgion defiled the others holy sites.

I am sure if you surivive your find the death camps to most fun."

On the Outskirts of Jerusalem
1800 hours Zulu (OOC: Same day as raid morning)

The graffiti that had begun to appear over the last few days was causing massive public outrage...the defiling of Jewish and Christian sites in Jerusalem was apparently met with insulting and threatening remarks across holy locations for the Islamic population nearby.

The Tordoran agents were not even suspected as some of the tension was connected to the nearby Al Anbar war, where the Muslim community of Western Asia had demanded intervention, and other recent strains.

It was near one of these sites that the Vice President came under the deadly assault.

In the second day of the domestic crisis, shortly after remarks had appeared at Muslim sites of devotion, the Vice President's office announced that he would pay a visit to several of those Jerusalem sites late that afternoon. The elite Tordoran team would not let the this opportunity pass by without action.

They prepared that night for the mission and rented out a small hotel room overlooking a street that the VP was reportedly to use. The men were less intept than their fellow countrymen and the disappearance of those teams was not unexpected. These agents had acquired a pair of Shipon rocket launchers stolen from the military as well as some assault weapons and a scoped hunting rifle stolen from a hunting agency. Several military-quality radios had been smuggled into the country and were used to coordinate the efforts.

-------

The next morning, they were ready early and they set their plan into action.

The men occupied their position and established themselves in the growing crowd as the VP's entourage arrived. The men with their rockets sat by the apartment window and waited for a report from their comerades that the VP was moving.

Below, on the street, the gunmen waited. Guns hidden under their long coats, they spread out so as to not cause concern on the part of the VP's security detail. The multicultural crowd made their job somewhat easier.

Conventional armor piercing rounds had been impossible to acquire so the guns were sprayed with teflon the night before. The VP was going to have a difficult time with this enemy...and the agents hoped that he would not survive the event.

The waiting rocketmen, having waited for a good half hour during the VP's tour of the site and speech condemning the graffiti, heard their signal: "The man moves from two to three."

The second and third cars are the targets and the VP is approaching the ambush.

The Shipon systems are checked and made ready for use behind the miniblinds as a spotter sits by an open window with binoculars.

In his native tongue, he counts off the ranges with landmarks that they'd established the night before.

"<200 meters>...
<160 meters>...
<130 meters>...
<100 meters>...
<80 meters>...
<50 meters, GO!>"

The blinds are pulled up violently and the men focus their launchers on the designated cars. The systems are soon locked on and, before any response is possible, the shipon rockets are launched!

The rockets fly rapidly to their targets, the double warheads detonating on the surface and within each vehicle. The two cars are blown apart, killing all of their occupant, forcing the following cars to a screeching halt, and spreading deadly shrapnel throughout the nearby crowd...killing several civilians and wounding over a dozen more.

Part of the security detail dismounts to check the VP's car as a cover of automatic weapons fire is sent towards the apartment, injuring or killing all of the armed men in the windows.

The three Tordoran agents on the ground stand out in the crowd--as almost everyon else flees, they move quickly to the damaged convoy. They open fire on the security officers, taking several down before the officers return fire, taking out all three men.

A police patrol from the nearby site arrives and its officers rush up the stairs of the building in support of the agents.

Other security and police officers on the ground begin to triage the downed Western Asian officers and try to extricate the VP and his staff, or at least their remains, from the burning vehicles.

Ambulance and fire company sirens wail in the rush to the scene.

Upstairs, the officers begin to arrive at the floor.

Meanwhile the three remaining SS operatives shot their wounded comrades in the head and make their get away by an aproved get away route, however they also hook up a bomb they had prepared earlier to the door handle so when it was turned after they left it would set off the bomb. If that didn't work they had several traps set up in various places that could be set off by a the simplist things that people do.

Hope sighed. She almost felt sorry for him. But he was too far gone for her to help him now...

She only hoped the Tordorans authorities wouldn't treat him too harshly.

OOC: You can consider him turned back to Tordor and handed over to the authorities.

The Tordorans choose a specal group of people for to "Question" the TLPA assassin. They had either A been childern in the death camps of Chairman Woe or they and their had suffered at the hands of the TLPA.
It didn't take long for the assassin to start talking and soon a full transtript was sent detailed their plans to destablize Ariddia, starting by taking out their leadership then working the country into anarchy so it would be easly to take over after the TLPA won the civil war in Tordor and threw down the Royal government.

OOC: There was only one Tordorian aside from the three in the apartment (mostly dead or wounded) and the three on the ground (dead), who had reported that the VP's convoy was moving from the desecrated site...he's getting away easily.

I'll assume that there's one in the apartment who began to move, but it would be hard to escape with the police rushing all of the entrances.

OOC:Then lets go with him hooking up the booby traps and finishing off his comrades so they can't be made to talk then.

One of the more lightly wounded SS Operatives got up and hooked the prepared booby traps all over the apartment including the door. Then as the Police approached he put an bullet into into the badly wounded man that was the only other surviver then he turned the gun on himself and put a bullet in his own head even as the police reached the boobytrapped door.

Hearing gunshots within, one of the civilian policemen reaches for the door.

As he does, the experienced VIP security personnel yell for him to stop, but it is too late as he turns the knob.

Instantly, a bright flash consumes the man and his teammates nearby are thrown or knocked to the ground. Parts of the officer's body knock over other officers as darkness and smoke fill the hallway.

Soon, cries for medics fill the air amid the coughing. Most of the men flee to street level.

Fire trucks and ambulances now crowd the street as medics triage victims. Some victims sit in one sector awaiting treatment for minor wounds while others are set up for ambulance transfer to hospitals.

Initial news reports announce that the VP's convoy has come under attack and that he may be dead. Additionally, some 14 dead are reported on the ground with scores more injured to various extents.

The explosion on the building above had sent many people scrambling for cover even as the firetrucks arrived to provide some aid.

The TLPA spotter makes his way out of the city. He is free, his comerades dead.

Police Sapper teams arrive within half an hour and begin to make their way through the booby-trapped apartment. Some smaller devices are intentionally set off by a robot while others are disconnected and removed for detonation elsewhere.

The TLPA assassins' bodies are checked for identification and the forged ID cards lead them to the men's real apartment some bit away. By the time the police have arrived, however, there is little evidence left for them to look through...the escaped agent took care of that.

A nation is sent into mourning for its honored Vice President. The President had been dispatched to the IDI conference about Tordor and heard about the attack an hour or so before arriving in Kecha.

He made a short radio address from the plane expressing some of his personal sorrow over the event and declaring an intent to seek revenge upon the TLPA for its actions. The speech was short and the President was audibly near breaking into tears but it was a great comfort to the people of Western Asia.

The escaped SS agent was making his way out of the country and if caught he had a cynide capule that he could break in his mouth to kill himself, he was well prepared.

The Shin Bet agents do not realize the existance of the last assassin, as the massive explosion in the apartment splatterd the bodies of the three agents within, complicating a count of an enemy force of already unknown strength.

As the scene is cleared, the man easily flees the scene. So long as he does not bear anything related to the assassination with him, he will be able to escape on any number of flights out of Western Asia.

The next day, funerals for two Jerusalem policemen and six of the VP's bodyguards are begun as preparations are made for the burial of the VP and several of his aides.
