Premier Bomfy sat in his home in Magna Casa, watching the Aequatian News Net for election information. He saw as Nicole Lupine jumped well ahead of him in the votes and sat back in his chair.

"Blast... there must be something I can do to win again, I've been the leader of this nation since the great revolution at its founding... I cannot lose my power now, especially not to a bloody hippie like Lupine." pondered Bomfy as he took another sip of his brandy.

It was half-way through the brandy that an idea popped into his head and he got up and left for his office at the Grand House.

"I will not lose, ever!"

Bomfy arrived in front of the Grand House in a taxi, the driver, a strong People's National Party supporter said the drive was on him and wished the Premier luck in the election.

"Don't worry citizen, I think my luck is going to change for the better... very soon." commented Bomfy as he saluted the honour guard at the gate and walked up to his office.

Once at his desk, he called Chief General Jason Taylor immediately to his office for a discussion of sports... as the call was listed in the communication directory. Once the call was made and Taylor acknoledged it, Bomfy sat back in his chair and waited...

General Taylor walked into the Premier's office, his uniform hastily put on... but somehow neat in some respects.

"What is it, Sir, you know that we cannot start military actions during an election... it's forbidden by the constitution." said the general as he sat down and took a sip from his coffee.

"I know... but this isn't a military action." replied Bomfy, "I think it may be necessary to take care of Ms. Lupine."

"Are you asking me to have Ms. Lupine assassinated?" said the general, shocked.

"No... we just need to give her the frighteners... make her drop out of the election." answered the Premier.

"Well... the election is fairly close, and even if you win by a single vote, you still win majority and whoever comes in second becomes head of the National Senate."

"Yes, I know, but do we really want a hippie like her to be running the national senate... one third of our government would be banging on tambourines and eating tofu for god's sake! Christ, use your brain, Taylor." said Bomfy, somewhat angry now.

"I'll see what I can do, Sir." said the general as he stood up, saluted and walked out.

I realize that, but I can't just jump back in... I wouldn't know where to deploy since I'm sure that my original zone has been occupied and I wouldn't know who to back since I don't know the current alliances. Besides, my Armed Forces are busy in other parts of the world right now dealing with other police actions and minor conflicts.

Bomfy sat in his office, eyes staring at the votes display on the television and a wry grin on his face as Chief General Jason Taylor walked in.

"Sir, I have come up with a plan to scare off Ms. Lupine--" Bomfy cut him off and pointed at the screen.

"Look... I've won, even if it gets to 51 votes... I've still won by majority... there's no need to frighten off Ms. Lupine." said the Premier.

"Alright... so does that mean we never talked about giving her the frighteners?" asked Taylor.

"Oh, we talked... but according to the schedule, we talked about sports... remember?" replied Bomfy.

"Oh... right, well, I'm going home, it's late and I'm tired. G'night, Sir." said the general with a tired salute as he walked out.
