Lieutenant Arden Velisuar paced the length of his bridge. The RNS Lady Xiri was a beautiful ship. Her sleek shape cut through the void like a knife through hut butter, her High Drive glowed faintly, propelling the Destroyer along. She wasn’t the strongest ship ever, but she was his. And that was all that mattered.

The destroyer had just launched from the Nexus Orbital Shipyards, and was currently assigned to patrol the warp chain that led to Sol. The RNS Lady Xiri was of the Brazen class, a good all around fighting ship, clocking in at four hundred meters in length, and reasonably armed for its size. But it was his, and to Lieutenant Arden Velisuar, Hotshot Ristar of the Revenian Navy, and Commanding Officer of the RNS Lady Xiri that was all that mattered.

The Xiri was named after Lady Xirin Stark, who was quite possibly Adrian Stark’s sister, and was the weapons master of House Stark, even training Dysaryn Stark himself, until her mysterious disappearance. Velisuar thought that she, being his personal hero, was a fitting namesake for his command. He would be proud to command this ship for the rest of his life. Revenia didn’t build a lot of Destroyers, but when it built one, they were damn good ships. The Admiral in charge of the Nexus System Defense flew his flag from a Brazen class Destroyer.

That said a lot about the class. A whole lot. Lieutenant Velisuar finally sat down in his command chair, stretching out. His black uniform was immaculate, the black and red Daggerstar on his lapel signified that he was a graduate of the Dysaryn Stark School of Combat on Nexus. The little silver dot on the top point signified he had been in the top ten percent of his class. An untried ship, with a lot of potential, and an untried captain with an equivalent amount of potential. Yes, this would be an interesting tour indeed.
--
The Lady Xiri crept lithely toward the warp point, all systems showed green, and as the Warp Point blossomed into existence, Lieutenant Velisuar felt his heart sing, as he said the words that were almost a prayer among the Revenian Navy.

“Off into the stars, nothing between our flesh and death but the hull of our ship. Protect is in this womb of iron, forged through the dedication of good Revenian men and women. The product of our minds and of our hands. Shelter us now, in our voyage. Shelter us always, in our time of need. Lady Xiri, we name thee mother. Protect us, your children. Protect us always, mother, and we shall protect you.”

(OOC: Piccie via link…yeup…Alright. Just in case it wasn’t clear enough from my IC text, basically here’s the backstory: The Lady Xiri just got launched, under the command of Lieutenant Arden Velisuar, its mission is to patrol the warp chain between Nexus and Sol. Currently, we’re still in the Nexus system, actually, we just hit the warp point at the end of my post. This is a Char-Oriented RP, so the idea would be to play a member of the Lady Xiri’s crew. Or a Foreign Ambassador seeking information about blah-dee-blah. Anything really. If you have any questions, TG me, or zap me a query on #nationstates, I’m around most of the time.)

As the RNS Lady Xiri hit the warp point, everything stopped. Arden knew this would happen, it was a unique quirk of his bloodline. He was directly descended from House Stark through his mother. Five minutes ticked by, and the sleek ovoid form that was his ship shot from the warp point into N/S-12, system number twelve on the Nexus-Sol warp chain.

He shot into action, the Shipboard AI, Crik, would still be recovering from the jump. He snapped at nobody in particular, "Restart our systems, sensors on active. Move it people!"

He wasn't about to get caught with his pants down, after all. Time seemed to tick out, apparently his bridge crew were still disoriented. Ahh, yes, that was another trick of the blood. The lack of 'Warp Sickness', as some so aptly called it.

He turned his attention to the tank, which had come to life of its own volition, or maybe Crik had gotten back to work. Either way, he now had some idea of how this system was layed out at the moment. Hmm. This could be very interesting. Very Interesting indeed.

OOC: Alrighty, there's another way to get involved if you don't want to play a crewman/whatever. Yeah...if you want to keep national loyalties and whatnot, go ahead and stick a ship in that system. Yeah, doesn't bother me, just for RP's sake. Oh, yeah, the Warp Point leading to Nexus from this system is closed, just in case you were wondering. Alroity then.

Telzon reoriented himself as quickly as he could. Warping was not a favorite experience of his.

His job on the ship was one of examination. He was supposed to make sure that all programs were working as they were supposed to, and fix them if they weren't. It was a tedious job at times, but an important one; no program was flawless, and if one failed to do its job the consequences would be horrendous.

He immediately began to work on the ship's AI, Crik, trying to bring it back to ordinary working level after the shock of the warp. Generally, he was supposed to help Crik manage the other programs, but after a warp Crik itself was the one in need of most urgent help. After all, if it broke down the entire system would fall apart.

OOC: first note, since I'm assuming Telzon is a crewman, and being as Revenia has a rather convoluted rank system, ranks for technicians and whatnot are from lowest to highest:
Specialist/Technician
Senior Specialist/Technician<--I'd suggest Telzon being one of these guys. Senior Computer Specialist, mayhaps? Alternatively, just a specialist would work...anything really.
Chief Technician
Technical Sgt.(Rarely Used)
---

IC:

Arden blinked, Crikthelanis' voice came over his earbud.
"Lieutenant, We have completed the jumps. Specialist Telzon is aiding me in restoring the systems to full power. He seems to share some of your resistance to Warp Sickness, that one. Very quick off his feet, I'd like to earmark him for later use."

If AI's could snicker, Crik was. Arden couldn't help but smirk himself, but it was a smirk of elation. Arden knew Crik, and Arden knew that Crik was a cynical batch of code. Most of all, Arden knew that Crik, like most Revenian AIs, were good judges of character.

If Crik wanted this Telzon person, then Crik could very well have him. Besides, anybody that could get Crik moving that quickly had to have some talent in him. Arden smiled as he flicked his comm-unit.
"Sure Crik, You can have him. I believe he's a computer specialist anyways. Now that I think about it harder, he was a data-flow manager. Crik, you are one for redundancies." Arden couldn't help but laugh.

His left hand moved, the Command Gauntlet on his left hand and forearm interpreted the commands, and Specialist Telzon's file now had a little silver earmark. The equivalent of the ancient standby of "Gold Stars" for doing a good job.

Arden turned his attention back to the tank. Fairly standard system alignment, one sun, smattering of planets, asteroid field. Arden tapped in a few commands, and the Lady Xiri's Third Generation Cloaking ECM activated, the system could shrink the drive signature down a hundred-fold, making the Destroyer appear as if were only four meters long, instead of its proper four hundred meters.

Arden flicked the comm-unit to 'Intercom.'
"This is Lieutenant Arden Velisuar, and I'll be your Skipper today. Looks like we've got a pretty clean system, we'll be doing a little poking around before we proceed to N/S-11. And well done on our first jump! At next planetfall, I will not rest until every one of you has had a drink on your Captain."

With that, Arden cut the transmission. He smiled absently to himself, and settled into his command chair. He had a faint feeling he would soon regret that decision.

OOC: Okay, he's a computer specialist - I'm fine with that.

Also, does Telzon notice the change in his file? If so, how? If not, is there a way he can find out?

IC: Telzon finally managed to sit back and relax for a moment after the hard work immediately after the warp. Hard work was not his thing, but it was unavoidable in his job.

He was still not sure why he had chosen it. There were plenty of jobs closer to home that could use someone with his innate grasp of computers and code, ones which lacked annoying warps and the excessively hard work after each one.

I seem to have a knack for doing things I'll later regret, he thought to himself. It was most certainly not the first time. Once, when he had been far younger - he could not remember his exact age then - he had chased a small creature, thinking it fun and unimportant. To his surprise, the creature had been malicious and powerful. It had nearly killed him before he had managed to get away.

Since then, he had carried a knife in his pocket. It would be insufficient if he met a human enemy, but nasty little creatures like that one would have a harder time killing him next time they met.

The knife currently lurked in his left pocket, within easy reach of his hand if danger should arise. He touched it now, allowing it to comfort him, calm him. For some reason, it always seemed to do that when he was distressed.

Quickly realizing that he still had a job to do, he shook himself out of his musing and got back to work. He had wasted enough time already.

OOC: Where is the ship? Sol or Nexus?

Currently the ship is in N/S-12, which is the twelfth system in a warp chain twelve systems long. N/S-0 is Sol, N/S 13 is Nexus. So at the moment, we're in neither. We don't keep much of a watch on the systems in the warp chains leading to our cluster, so almost anything could have wandered in there.

The ships slowly cruised through the system, adding info to the databanks of Task Force Renegade, as they had come to be known throughout the galaxy.

Space was their home now. No nice warm cozy homesystem to go to. Earth was in the past. A place they could never go back to. To do so would mean courtmartials, executions, life sentences and worse. Other nations knew of the Task Force. They did nothing to capture them, even though they only had 25 ships total. The bounties were worth it, or one would think. Just seeing an Imperium ship was enough to discourage most pirates in the area.

"Captain, we are picking up another ship." the science officer reported.

"Onscreen, hail them. Helm, prepare an intercept course." He waited until the channel was open. "This is Captain John Ors of the CSS Evansworth II, Task Force Renegade Patrol Group 4. Please identify yourselves and your purpose."

Crik's voice broke his reverie with a snap. He jolted upright in his command chair, then settled back down. He listened intently.

"Lieutenant, we have been detected by another ship...Apparently a freak solar flare canceled our cloaking ECM. As you know, once it's been penetrated, it's penetrated," reported Crik.

Arden blinked, and swore, as his vis-screen flipped up moments later, showing an unfamiliar face. His eyebrows furrowed faintly as he listened. Then came his turn.

"This is Lieutenant Arden Velisuar of the RNS Lady Xiri, Currently of Fourth Fleet, Revenian Navy, on routine patrol of N/Sol warp chain, We intend no hostilities."

Arden frowned as he hit transmit, and the databurst was fired off. Such a large force escaping his sensors was a bit of a worry, but, the systems were still just coming back online.

He tapped the intercom link again, "This is Lieutenant Arden Velisuar, we have made contact with a foreign space flotilla. Currently no sign of overt hostilities. Ors blinked and looked to the science officer. "Warp chain? A Jumpgate network? N/Sol... Obviously involves the Old Home, but what does the N mean?"

The science officer shrugs. "Possibly a jumpgate. There are many FTL gate networks in the galaxy. Apparently they are going to Sol, and I would assume N is either their system, or a shortened version of it's name."

Ors looked at the screen again and signalled to hail again. "We are unaware of your nation or it's military. We are currently on a scientific mission, charting this and several nearby solar systems. We have no hostile intentions." He watches the ship closely and makes a decision as the connection terminates. "How many fighters are out?"

The helm officer looks up. "Six, in standard CAP above and below our ships."

Ors nods. "Have them be ready to break off and attack, if need be. Use Old-High Crim(a language almost never used anywhere, but known to all combat crews as a code, sorta like the Indians in WWII) when giving the orders, it'll confuse the hell out their AI and comm officer."

At the sound of the alarm, Telzon immediately began examining the computerized weapons systems, making sure they were ready for combat if need arose. This job was another important one. If a program failed to do what it was supposed to do in battle, the ship could be destroyed.

A few of the programs were not in top-notch condition, and he managed to put them right in a few moments of launching processes. He immediately began to examine all other programs that might be neccesary in a battle. Most of them were coming along fine, though if hostilities ensued he doubted that would last long.

As he worked, he subconciously began to caress the knife in his pocket again, calming himself so that his performance would be as perfect as it needed to be. If they board and try to kill me, I'll use it, he resolved. Not that I'd last long. Oh, I wish I had a pistol!

Shaking himself out of his worries for a moment, he once again concentrated fully on his work.

Arden blinked at the return hail. He nodded slowly. He felt safe that the closed warp point to Nexus would be largely undetectable (OOC Note: Completely undetectable, actually. Completely and -utterly- undetectable), and even if it wasn't the Nexus system defenses were extensive, as it -was- the gateway to the rest of the cluster.

He flicked the comm toggle again, and spoke clearly, "Understood, We are also on a similiar mission, Hunting out possible nasties, just in case we decide to commence commerce with Sol and suchforth. Hostilities need not break out, Captain. If there's anything we can do for you, please, by all means, give us a hand."

Arden frowned faintly, as he closed the line and the databurst fired off. Hrmm, he rubbed absently at a certain spot on his right forearm.

The Command Interphase Unit sitting at rest in the EW room's control chair activated with a start. Crikciu's eyes flicked open, and a crooked sort of smile formed on his face. Synthskin looked very much real. He nodded his assent to the young Ensign.

"Understood Ensign, I understand you're also our section's Defensive Unit. SOP dictates I review with you what that means: In the event of a boarding operation, the Defensive Unit will cease standard operations and secure the station. Basically Ensign, if the Lieutenant screws up, you get to keep us alive."

Crikciu laughed, in a very humanoid manner. Very few people quite understood Revenian AI's...they all seemed to be largely insane. Of course, they were also rather effective. So, nobody complained. Usually.

"Regardless, Ensign, get us a read-out on that flotilla so I can pipe it up to Lieutenant Velisuar."

With that Crikciu turned his attention elsewhere, trusting in the competence of his fellow crewmembers.

Telzon suddenly noticed a slight error in one of the guidance programs for the ten Ripple Launch Missile Racks. Well, slight from his perspective. The effect of the small error could result in the shut-down of the entire weapon system. In combat, that could prove fatal.

He began to work, his hands shivering from nervousness, trying to fix it. He soon noticed, to his annoyance, that when the weapons system had been activated in anticipation of possible hostilities, the error had caused several programs to malfunction.

His first job ordinarily in such a severe case would be to isolate it by shutting down all unnecessary programs that could malfunction due to it. However, if he did so and the other ship attacked, at that moment of vulnerability a number of severe consequences could occur.

He immediately sent a computerized message to Crik about the error, asking for commands. Until then, he would just have to do what he could.

OOC: Gah...the forums apparently made a nice dinner of my post. I am peeved.

IC:

One of the crewmen assigned to Marine detailed stepped into Telzon's section-room. He was pushing a cart of sidearms. The ship had gotten off so quickly, that Lieutenant Velisuar hadn't even gotten around to breaking open the arms locker and issuing out sidearms.

Now it was the job of this crewmen in the Light Duty armor that was standard aboard all Revenian Ships. The Crewman's SR-24 was slung over his shoulder, and clanked against the LDA's Torso Armor as he dropped a holstered SP-19 into Telzon's lap, along with a manual on its usage, and two clips of ammo. The SP-19 was the standard service pistol of the Revenian Armed Forces, and was a linear accelerator weapon, or powergun, as were most Revenian firearms.

The Crewman looked at Telzon, the helmet secured to his head was a flat black. He spoke then,
"Listen kid, you point that thing at the enemy if he boards, you make sure you hit 'im when you pull the trigger. We don't want to compromise hull integrity, or anything, y'know."

And with those words of wisdom, the crewer went back to his duty.

Deep inside the Ship, Sean toiled away in the Science Lab. A very small and insignificant part of the ship, his first assignment aboard was the one he had been comissioned with, to study the effects of extended space travel on Noctournal Plants and Animals, not much, but the Science Commitee had to make some excuse of an assignment to get a Fully fledged Science Officer on the ship, most of the ships just had a crewman with a skeleton training in Basic Science. But anyhow he was stuck here now, he had been the unfortuneate one to be picked for the assigning.

Many people would've had jumped at the oportunity to join this mission, a newly crowned ship, a daring possibility, but not Sean, he had been perfectly happy with his job back at the Scientific Headquarters, studying new ways to extend the life of batteries...

Ugh, Animal CH has had trouble adapting to space travel he thought to himselfAnd Plant 4 has been turning purple, I wonder if that's a good sign, he had heard something about another ship encountered in the warp-stream, perhaps something exciting would happen, anything is more exciting than this....

His eyes returned to their normal coloration, which was to say, very abnormal. He looked angrily at his console.

Arden

Arden glared angrily at nothing in particular. He kept telling himself that the Lady Xiri was a new ship, and that, being a new ship, it had bugs. But by god, The darned systems picked the -worst- time to possibly knock out his offensive armament.

He knew Crik and that Telzon person of his were on it, and he had already added another tick of goodness to Mr. Telzon's record for finding that malfunction. After this was all over, he'd have to personally thank him. If the other ships went hostile, then it could very well be that their very lives rested on the shoulders of his EW personnel.

He only hoped that it wouldn't come to that. His right hand twitched uncontrolably, a side effect of his Command Implants. His left hand rested calm inside it's Command Gauntlet.

Telzon immediately followed the command, though he was not sure that it was the wisest course. He began shutting down a number of programs, hoping to quickly isolate the bug before it could cause more problems. He did this as rapidly as he could, trying to make the time of high risk as short as possible.

When he was sure that the bug was isolated, he began working on fixing the problems that had already arisen. He managed to make good progress rather swiftly, and a tinge of relief started to fill him. This can be fixed quickly, he told himself confidently.

Arden frowned. Something was wrong. His right hand twitched, a flap of Synthskin flicked open, and the cable snaked out, and jacked into the arm of his Command Chair. His eyes unfocused, and he was directly a part of the ship.

Very few men or women qualified to receive the Command Implants, but Arden had been one of them. It was a very unique, and very useful implant, as it gave Revenian Capital Ships the manueverability usually associated with strike craft.

Arden thought for a couple of seconds, then settled down, and let the lead retract. He snapped back into his own body with a jolt. He had to make sure the interface system was working properly, it could be their only chance if they encountered hostiles, especially with the weaponry temporarily out of commission.

Arden smiled absently to himself, as he set the Lady Xiri to it's cruising speed of .08c, and favored himself with a simulated view of the Destroyer's lithe ovoid shape cruising through the void.

He contemplated stopping off in Sol for a bit at the end of the first leg of the tour, give the boys some down time. He oughta be able to get some recommendations from the crew of the RDSS Menacles. Yes, that was a thought.

Nonetheless, he'd have to clear it with NexCon. Well, he'd decide on that later, for now, he let himself be calmed by the serene picture on his vis-screen.

-spinkicks the data into place, Bruce Lee style-WATTAA!
Marine Details and Officers will be wearing:
Light Duty Armor:
A thin CF weave bodysuit with mid-weight torso armor. The torso armor consists of 3mm of sculpted iridium plating, sandwiched between two half-centimeter thick layers of CF weave. This is worn over the bodysuit. The helmet is made of one 1mm thick iridium plate sandwiched between two 5mm layers of CF Weave. The Torso armor is meant to stop a power gun bolt at any range, but unfortunately, in general it only works once. It takes advantage of a power guns aptitude to expend its kinetic load on the first thing it touches. It is also capable of stopping most non-power gun small arms fire easily, the body suit offers protection against most small arms and also against cutting, piercing, bludgeoning, and the like.
Weight: 15 lbs

Yarr...all Revenian crewmen will be wearing:
Revenian Combat Jumpsuit:
A thin 1mm CF Weave bodysuit, with 2mm’s of CF weave over vitals, skintight. Colored a flat black, easily worn under clothing without advertising it’s existence. Combat Jumpsuits are sufficient protection against minor attacks and light small arms fire. Not meant to stand up to much punishment, nonetheless, they are very light and comfortable. Revenian Military personnel have taken to wearing their Combat Jumpsuits at all times, as they are rather comfortable to wear.
Weight: 2 lbs

Firearms:
SP-19
Designation: AMT SP-19
Unabbreviated form: AMT Service Pistol-19
Built By: Armel Military Technologies
Pronunciation: Ess Pee Nine-Teen
Type: Military Sidearm
Bullet Type: 10mm
Ammunition Type: 10mm Bullet
Firing Modes: F
Clip Type: Dual Column, Ammo and Battery
Clip Size: 15 bullets, power for 15 shots.
Electronics: Integral LAM.
Materials:
Barrel: Iridium
Action: Iridium
Grip: RevTek SureGrip Custom
Exterior: Polymer
Bullet Speed: 0.02c
Description: Conventionally designed pistol. The SP-19 is a reliable, accurate, mil-spec sidearm. It is a standard magazine-in-grip design, with an integral Laser Aiming Module. The SP-19 fires the venerable 10mm round, which has been the Revenian pistol round of choice since its discovery. Designed when the technology was new, the SP-19 has proven itself on the battlefield countless times. A simple by today’s standards, but brutally effective Linear Accelerator system accelerates the 10mm bullets to almost .02c. Streaking along through the atmosphere, the SP-19’s bullets are often mistaken for the “energy weapons” of sci-fi fame, in fact, the SP-19 is a mere projectile weapon. The SP-19 is the standard service sidearm of the Revenian Armed Forces.

And in a closing note: Yarrrr...

At last, Telzon sighed as the last malfunction was set right. The programs were already coming back on again, and within a few minutes usual performance should be restored.

No attack had occurred, and all problems were fixed. Relief filled him. I am not going to die yet. He glanced at the pistol he had been given. I hope I won't have to use it.

Telzon had never used a pistol in his life. On past missions, he had been given one, but he had never fired one. This weapon - the SP-19, he thought it was called - was a powerful one, capable of firing a bullet at tremendous speeds.

Telzon hated violence. The only kind he could understand was violence to prevent violence. Violence destroyed and violence killed. It was one of the ultimate evils that humanity committed against themselves. For the most part, it was pointless and empty, devoid of any purpose or gain for anyone. The thought of this pistol, with all its destructive power, being used was sickening to him. He wished he did not have to see it, but he knew it was his duty, and he also knew that if the situation arose he would have to fight with it.

He shuddered at the thought.

Arden smiled then, the green 'All Systems Go' sign replaced the red 'Malfunction' flag on his systems readout. the Lady Xiri was in fighting trim again.

He stretched out in his Command Chair, his Command Implants itching as usual, but he made no attempt to scratch them, knowing it would only worsen. It was a trade-off he had made for the ability to preserve the lives of his crew. It was a trade-off he would gladly make again, and a trade-off that he fully believed was completely worth it.

Arden smiled absently, as he flicked the comm unit to the intercom position.

"Ladies and Gentleman, this is the Captain speaking. We had a brief lull in our Fire Control systems, but we're back online and good to go. You can thank our techs later, right now, just stay frosty. If everything goes well, we'll get through this. Velisuar OUT!"

He cut the line with a snap of his index finger. He reached behind his chair and retrieved his Commo Helmet from where it had fallen a while ago. Fitting the armored helmet firmly onto his head, the Light Duty armor he wore was nothing compared to the Marauder Armor he had trained in, and in simulated 2g too.

The Dysaryn Stark School of Combat was meant to recreate the wastes of Northfell, located on Nexus, it had a reputation of pumping out extremely skilled officers and operatives. He was one of the officers.

The SP-19 riding in his thigh holster wasn't his favored weapon, but it was the issue weapon. He made due. He considered himself something of a jack of all trades as far as weaponry were considered. He was pretty good with just about everything. He preferred knives though.

Which was probably a good thing, as if a boarding action was engaged, a thrown knife would kill just as easily as a bullet. And it wouldn't cause an explosive decompression.

Sean came back into the Science Lab t ofind a shocking discoverey, all of the lab plants and animals had died, a-z, ab-yz, they were all dead in thier cages or withered across the table, with the exception of one plant, the one that had been turning purple, plant 4 had grown expedentially, it had almost trippled in size, it now sprawled out of it's small pot and was laying across the entire table.

I must inform the Captain of this..., there must be some kind of radiation or field of some sort...

Sean checked the raditation, it was in an acceptable zone, sightly elevated, but that was normal for warp travel.

Comm to the Captain: Umm, Captain? This is Science Officer Sean Talsvac here, there's something you have to see...

Arden blinked. His earbud pipped, he twitched the go-ahead, and his comm system sent the handshake. ... Trouble in the science department. Did they even have a science department?

Regardless, Arden slid lithely from his Command Chair, and speaking to nobody in particular, "You have the con."

He turned and made his way from the bridge down a gangway, through the hallways, nodding pleasantly at the marine crews with their blast shields and service rifles, and finally he entered the science section.

Stepping into the small room, he blinked. "Senior Specialist Talsvac. What seems to be the problem?"

Arden whistled through his front two teeth, as he was sometimes apt to do. But he wasn't annoyed, or angry. In fact, he was happy. It felt good to get away from the tension of the bridge, and out of that derned Command Chair. Whoever designed those things needed to be -shot-.

I recoreded no increase in radiation or energy whatsoever, but I came back today and they were all dead, as you can see'

*Points to all the empty cages, some still have clumps of fur or skin on it*

"Also whatever caused the Liveforms to die, also melded some of thier body to the plastic cages. The only thing to survive was plant 4, which was begining to turn purple the day before, only now it is growing at an extreme rate, it had tripled in size in 12 hours, so I had to move it to the containment room, I checked on it 3 hours ago, and it has increased in mass by 45%" Sean Said Nervously

"Between then and now, I STILL haven't been able to find a cause by this, but I haven't been able to get a decent scanning access, as you can see, the Science Lab was the last thing they thought of when they built this ship, -The Science room is only about 10 feet by 10 feet- so I haven't been able to scan the outside regions for some sort of anomaly, perhaps you can inform me of any strange reports from scanners Captain?"

Arden frowned then. "So, erm, what the devil is this Plant 4, I've never seen one before in my life. Kind of Odd. Good initiative on containing it though."

He frowned and began to examine one of the cages idly, if you looked close enough, you could see the way his right hand twitched, as if it were closing around a knife grip. This kind of thing worried him. Very much.

Sean looked at the Captain with a glazed over look, as if everyone should know what plant 4 was, that was when he realized his mistake...

"Oh, sorry, Plant 4 is a Fern, named Hive slime. It got this name becasue most of the time, the plant is green not purple, and it is almost only found near Hives of any animal."

"Here, I'll show you" Said Sean as he moved towards a sealed door with an electronic lock on it.

*Pushes in a code*

-The Door opens with the hiss, as new air is brought into the closed environment, the containment room isn't very large, about 5x3 feet, and one large leaf droops out-

"DEAR GOD" Shouted Talsvac, relizing he had startled the Captain, he calmed himself

"I'm sorry, the plant is much, much bigger than when I checked three hours ago, what ever it is causing it's growth, were getting closer to it."

Sean Rummages around the lab and find a long pair of scientific tongs, and pulls the large plant onto the table, it dwarfs its exceedingly small pot, and roots are already sticking out of it.

"Excuse me, I'm going to have to impovise"

Sean Headed over to a unused section of table, and tears away the tabletop, with the help of a crowbar, and filled the space with several packages of dirt, and puts the plant in it, the plant immedaitely roots itself.

"Anyway you can see that this thing is massive, and it only seems to be growing faster, I can't get rid of it, because of a trait that its developed three hours ago when I checked on it, here I'll show you."

Sean Takes the tongs and attempts to taek a sample of one of the roots, the leaves immediately shudder closer to it, and several hundred tiny barbs shoot towards the tong, adhereing to it

"Every one of those barbs has a powerful nereotoxin, just sixteen of them will send you into a coma, thirty will kill you through a massive stroke, very unpleasant, and if you try to uproot the whole, and growing faster as we progress, and I can't remove it without killing myself, because if it senses a change in location of more than 6 feet, it releases a gas form of the barbed toxin."

Sean Looked at the Captain, wondering what he was thinking

"Also for reference, when we started this trip, this plant was little more than the average houseplant, no look at it, it's roughtly 13 feet around!

Arden blinked. He frowned absently, the obvious answer would be to burn it. But that was about the -stupidest- thing that you could do. The Ship's Iridium hull was very heat-resistant, but, its contents were not. Fire could gut his ship in minutes if it wasn't contained. So that was out of the picture.

Then, he realized, that as it was at the moment not a danger to his crew, just a slight annoyance, it would probably be better to study it. He blinked, "No idea what might have caused this, I would assume."

He frowned. "Maybe the best thing we can do, is just deep freeze the sucker until we get back to base, mess with it then. I don't know. I guess that'll be our last resort."

He eyed the plant again, and reached up, sliding the visor of his Commo Helmet down. He eyed the plant.

"Booster, Thermal."

His vision exploded into a world of blacks, whites, and blues. Thermal Vision was completely different from infared, none of the familiar reds and greens and suchforth. He studied the plant for a few more seconds, before ordering, "Booster, Optical."

Arden flipped up his visor, and looked at Sean.

OOC: Gah...Forums ate my post, So, here we go again.

With that, Arden left the Science Officer to his work. He made his way slowly to his quarters. He needed a bit of a rest, three straight days of staring at a plotter had taken its toll on him. He arrived at his suite, pressing his hand up against the scan-pad.

The door irised open, and he stepped inside. His quarters were barren. Painted a Gunmetal gray, the entire ceiling was a display device. Currently showing a blank starfield, which gave a disconcerting effect, as the room was unlit at the moment.

He sighed, "Room, Display Simulated Exterior View, Ceiling."

The scene changed, no lag time whatsoever. Using extrapolated sensors data, and surface readings of the entire ship, the ship was displayed in real-time 3d. He flopped down onto his bed, and looked up at his baby.

The sleek ovoid shape of the RNS Lady Xiri, showing the finesse and beauty of it's namesake. Yet, when provoked, it was more than deadly. Dysaryn Stark was widely considered to be the most lethal hand-to-hand combatant in all of Revenia. Xirin Stark had been his teacher.

He was Stark on his mother's side, and was thus close enough to the Twilight Knight in blood, to have heard him speak of Mistress Xirin. He had spoken to him at length about her, at a dinner held for him by his parents, on receiving command of the ship.

Arden would never forget his parting words. 'Take care of that ship, boy, and it'll take care of you. Bring 'em back alive. You've got some of the best people in Revenia. Make 'em Better."

Arden slid to his feet, and walked over to his hardened steel dresser. Everything was securely welded to the floor, just in case the Gravity bit it. He opened the top drawer, and removed a small box. Flicking it open, he removed the gift his mother had given him before he'd left.

A small silver Daggerstar. But it wasn't a collar flash. No. It was fastened securely, and armor-annealed to a thin stainless steel chain. He sighed, and slid it around his neck, tucking the Daggerstar in under his shirt.

He removed his light duty armor, setting the torso piece and commo helmet onto a chair. He returned to his bed, and lay there, studying his ship.

"I really should get around to seeing about that Shore Leave in Sol..." and with that, Arden closed his eyes.

"Shit, Shit" Sean Cursed, he was looking at the containent room panel, the yellow and green lights were flashing wildly, he knew what they meant, Biocontainment and Biohazard danger, he had, unfortuneatly discovered at least one of the factors of what was causing the Plant to grow so rapidly,

"Space cold!" he muttered under his breath, as he was attempting to get a hold of the situation as it unfolded. He had discovered one of the factors the wrong way, the cool temperature was one of the factors that was causeing the growth, mixed with some sort of energy. Unfortuneatly he found out after the fact he had put the plant in a giant freezer, the Plant was growing out of control, leaves had wrapped around the door, so it was impossible to open without blasting it open, and the plant was minuites away from reaching the freezer engine, and absorbing the coolant, which would have untold effects on it. The Plant was growing 245% in mass every 30 Minutes, and only going faster as it got closer to the freezer, he had turned off the freezer, but it was too late, the coolant would still be cool, and also he had had to unwire the heating system to get the coolant running, and couldn't figure out how to rewire it, he needed to find someone who could, anyone with a basic technical training, but first, he had better inform the Captain.

He Called the Captain on Emergency freqency, whoch got to him through his personal transmitter, so no matter where he was, He wouldn't be able to ignore it.

"Captain, I have a emergency Biohazard situation unfolding here, I need someone what a tachnical training down here immediately, and you might want to come too." Sean set it to broadcast to the Captain every 5 minutes, so if he was asleep, he wouldn't be for long.

Arden woke with a start. He uncoiled explosively, his fleet flying upwards as he arced his back powerfully. He shot to his feet in one smoothe liquid motion, his right hand had pulled a long dirk from a sheathe on his thigh.

He settled down then, returning the knife to its sheathe, as he listened to the auto-send message. He frowned then, and grabbed his gear in a hurry. He was half-way to SciDep by the time he was finished dressing.

He held in his right hand, a RevTek FS-2 Flechette pistol. Incapable of penetrating the hull, but it should pretty much shred anything as soft as flesh. Or plant, for that matter. Regardless, he thought for a second, then opened a line to the EW department.

"EW, this is Velisuar. Crik, take Telzon and get down to the science department. Wait, modify that, I want Crikciu down there, Soonest."

As he crossed the threshold, he immediately mumbled an order. "Booster, Thermal." The Commo Helmet's visor slid down, showing him the world in gradients of heat.

His left hand held a Bandoleer of grenades he had extricated from the armory, just in case. If things got too nasty, the white phosphorus and incendiary grenades would make, hopefully, make short work of the plant.

The idea, would be too seal off the SciDep, which was do-able easily. The Irising Blast Doors that were used exclusively throughout the ship, were made of the Revenian metal of choice, Iridium. Iridium didn't melt easily no matter what the circumstance.

Especially Revenian tempered Iridium, coated with a heat resistant gel, and sheathed inside layers of non-flammable material. Water was not wasted to put out fires, one just sealed off the section, air tight, then waited for the oxygen to run out.

Regardless, he eyed Sean. "Brief Me."

What in the world? thought Telzon. They had not been attacked - that would have been announced - and even if they had been, why would he be going to the Science Department, of all places? He oculd not think of a situation where he should not be where he was right then.

He had been trained not to question, however, and so he did not question. He arose and began to walk towards the Science Department, not knowing what to expect.

Forthuneatly we can slow the growth rate to a crawl if we can make that a sauna in there, hence Turn the Heat Back on. Because when I wired the Freezer system, I had to unwire the heating system, and now I can't rewire it. So I need that technition very soon.

Also, In a few more minutres the computer, which is currently factoring the possible reasons to growth from the information I have put in, will have a couple of possible reasons.

So Sir, What do want to do with this Plant, and I do very hope that technition Arrives soon, or else were going to have a major weed problem on this ship....

"Alright, The report has confirmed what we know, and added some Ideas. First One of the Major factors of Plant 4's growth is of course SPACE COLD, or just cold in General. Now, Hmmm.. This is where is gets interesting...According to the Scideep System, the other possible factors is a very specific energy, the kind of energy that is produced when two ships are near, or in the same warp stream...This might point us to something...It goes on to list that the soil is especially fertile, I knew that, It's meant for optimum scientic development, and a very minor factor is....Propane? Oh well, the computer isn't always perfect...What I'm more intregued with is the enery field, there are very few anomolies that can produce the same kind of energy as two ships near or in the same warp stream...I'd check your intelligence reports if I were you Captain."

Just then the Biocontainment unit Beeped with an updated ETA, the screen read: 7 minutes, 38 seconds, with the microseconds whirling by, "I hope that the technition gets here soon...

Arden

Arden frowned. This was odd. Whoever had the bright idea of sending a freaking -botany- lab out on a destroyer needed to be shot. Bleh, well, he'd have plenty of time to register his complaints after his tour was over.

After he returned to Nexus...after he had broken in his ship. After he had won. Yes, plenty of time. Now, he needed to focus on the situation at hand. He frowned, and slung the bandoleer of grenades over his shoulder.

That was his current last resort. Lob them into the room, get the hell out. Seal the blast doors. Seal the room off. Vents were built to be sealed, there were no cracks in the walls. Each room was air-tight, obviously.

Just burn the sucker, and let it feed off the oxygen in that room. Then, when the thing was gone, seal the room off completely, and let the fire die out. That should work, assuming that the plant didn't take to fire like it did to cold.

If it did, well, then he'd have to go the direct root. A couple of slugs moving at speeds measured in percentage of c, yeah, that aughta do it. But that wasn't exactly something he wanted to do. Unlike in an atmosphere, in space, slugs didn't slow down very quickly. Thus, they actually -had- penetrating power.

He didn't really -want- penetrating power now. Hrrm. Well, he'd cross that bridge when he came to it, right now...

"Tech should be en-route, I'll see if I can't speed things up a little bit."

Arden tapped his comm unit, it pinged through to Crikciu, who was matching Telzon's pace...

"Crik, when I say soonest, I mean Soonest. Understood?"

He didn't even wait for a reply, he cut the channel and tapped his foot, rapidly.

----
Crik

Crikciu frowned, yes, he was taking too long. He reached down, and picked Telzon up with one arm, effortlessly tossing the Tech over his shoulder, and he began to run...

Servo's pumped, he had nothing like human endurance to prevent him from moving quickly, only the limitations of a Bi-Pedal form. But still, he would arrive at SciDeep, about now.

Crikciu burst into SciDeep, dropping Telzon abruptly onto his feet, then turned to face Sean, after only a slight nod at Arden.

"I understand the problem, but if you'd explain it to Mr. Telzon here...."

"Alright, Telzon" Sean Said "As you may or may not know, there is a problem, I will crash you through the last 12 hours"

"First all the animals died, than plant 4 *Points* grew expondentially, we had the idea of freezing it, but it was discovered that Coldness was a factor of growth, that and a energy that is only created when two ships are in or nearly in the same warp stream *Looks at the Captain* Not to be pusht, but had you issued someone to look into that?" Anyway, within 3 minutes the plant will reach the coolant in the temp. Freezer engine, which will casue it to burst through other decks in growth, killing many, what I need you to do is rewire the heating system back into the isolation chamber, that should almost halt the plants growth, where we can jettison it into space."

*Again looks at Captain*

"I didn't tell you about that optoin before because we still had a chance of slavaging the chamber, but now..even if we did get the plant under control, it would still grow. I can't garentee you it won't adapt to space, but if should get torn up in the warp field"

*The fighter pilot cut the engine and coasted down towards the Lady Xiri, knowing fully that in just a few moments it still warm engine would show up like a flare. On any thermal sensor, and then it's mass would trigger another sensor and another and another. The pilot just hoped that they would'nt shoot first and ask later, and there it was. A mass that obscured the stars, it was time to prep the camera. And be ready if they decided to shoot first*..

John is watching his moniters when he see's somthing on the thermal scanner, he starts to do a intensive scan of the object and he finds a strong heat signiture

John Calls the bridge

OOC: Trasa-Mun, I'm well aware you posted...I haven't written up Arden's XO yet, I've been delaying that in hopes that somebody will play him/her...so, we'll see.

IC:
Arden blinked, and sighed. He thought for a few moments, then decided on his course. He turned to face Sean.

"The reason I don't have anybody checking on the effects of the warp stream, is that we don't -have- a warp stream. Warp Points provide transportation without any interference on our part, other than getting to one. The High Drive doesn't really leave a lot of residue behind, but, I guess it might be at fault. Mmr, and instead of jettisoning it, I'd rather shoot it into the nearest sun, if you don't mind."

Arden frowned, and eyed Telzon.
"Well, you heard the man, get that thing Re-wired."

He frowned, his right hand index finger was rubbing the safety pin on the Incendiary grenade he held. If the re-wiring wasn't done in two minutes, he'd have to burn the stupid thing. Plain and simple. And Damn anybody who felt like stopping him, he would -not- play games with his crews lives.

In the meantime, he decided that he would file Intent on the idiot who'd sent this damn plant with him. Yes, that probably wasn't a half-bad idea.

"Oh Sorry" Sean turned and blushed

Damn, I'm a fool, I'm set up from the Science Commision and I got blatantly saying things about warp streams, why did I have to Major in Warp Physics!

Sean turned back toward the Captain

"I'm sorry Captain, thank you for the correction, but still, we are in some sort of FTL (Faster than Light) Travel, which is what I was getting at, we don't have to be in a warp stream, two ships just have to be close to each other going at FTL speeds, this causes an energy to be produced that is harmless to humans, but obviously, *looks at plant* for plant four, so I would still be lead to belive that someone, or thing is following us"

"Alright, I'm setting the coordinates for the nearest sun into the jettison program, as soon as the heat comes on, it's gone"
Revenia

Arden blinked.

"Actually, ships -don't- cross in Warp Points, that's a simultaneous transit, and that causes ships to blink out of existence. And, at the moment, I believe we are moving somewhere around .1c, give or take .05c. But, enough of that, the problem obviously exists, and it's going to have to be dealt with."

Arden was getting impatient. Very impatient. His thumb flicked the safety pin from the grenade in his hand...he proceeded to de-safety the rest of the grenades. They were remote linked to detonate simultaneously.

No shrapnel, no chance of damage to the ship. Just lots of fire and heat. Arden smirked, as he held the bandoleer.

"Now, I'm getting impatient. I'd suggest you evacuate this lab, Because I'm going to burn this stupid plant to the ground. Plain and simple."

He flashed a hand signal to Crikciu, who absently picked up Telzon and dragged the tech into the hallway outside SciDeep.

Things were about to get a little hot.

Sean did not like have his lab burned to the ground, be it infected or not, but the Captain had given him plenty of time and options, and he had reached his end, he knew this failure would probobly land him reassigned to a lower possition, AND he was going to get the boot out the Commision becasue he hadn't even taken any reasearch of this plant phenomeon, oh well, the price you pay in Science

"After you incinerate the Lab, I will await reassignment" Sean said, almost bitterly, it was any man's guess to what he was thinking

Arden stood in front of the open door, his eyes blurred slightly. He felt his Adrenaline begin to pump, his muscles attuned themselves. The muscles in his legs coiled, he was ready. He pressed the frogger, and threw.

The muscles in his legs uncoiled, he shot backwards, through the open door. His off-hand flitted out, smacking the close key. The blast door sealed with a -Whoosh.-

There was no noise from inside the lab, as the White Phosphorus grenades detonated. Then the Incendiaries detonated with a rush. The plant was swamped, White Phosphorus would stick to it until the end, it's white glow unquenchable.

The incendiaries would burn until the oxygen ran out. That take approximately fifteen minutes. He hit the ground with a -THUNK.-

Sean Turned around, only to find the Captain lying unconcious on the floor. The Startled Science officer ran over to his body, to see if eh still had a pulse, he did, he immediately pressed his comm:

"This is Science officer Talsvac, I need a medical team near the Science Lab immediately, I repeat! the Captain is down, I need A medical crew down here on the double!"

*Sean pulled something out of his pocket*

He eyed the vial, filled with a murky green liquid, not knowing what to do with it, it would be the perfect time to go with his orders and use human experimentation, he had scanned the Captain when he had come in, and he hadn't noticed, the Captain was probobly the only compatible subject on the entire ship...but he must wait, there would be a better chance, doing it here would make him look suspicious... He though back to his mental records that he hadn't jotted down, all the subjects had been injected, all died except Plant 4, which surved it's purpose, and now was being burnt to a crisp.

Yes that was the joy of Traslix 5, the experimental chemical, it was supposed to accelerate the main function of any living thing, in plant 4's case, it casued it to grow at a massive scale, for what the government had in mind, it would serve as the driving force behind a new program of elite super-soldiers, which had compatible bodies. Essentially it would act as a super-steriod, that never wore off, if musle tissue was damaged, it would re-spawned. It accelerated the mind patterns, sending IQ through the roof.

Sean broke away from his trance of thinking when the Med team arrived.

"Take the Captain to the Medical center, he needs Medical attention, I think he may have a concussion"

He then turned to the direction of his quarters, he would have to log this very eventful day into his journal....

Arden's body arrived in the medical center, and was dealt with accordingly. Special care was taken to prevent damage to the Command Implants he was fitted with. The medics were efficient, and very good at what they did, but a concussion wasn't a quick-fix by any means.

Arden awoke, to find himself staring up at the pristine white ceiling of medbay. He decided not to move, the feeling of sheets next to his skin told him something he -did- not like.

He attempted to say something, call attention to himself, but he found himself inable to speak. He blacked out again.

He did this for a long time, drifting in and out of unconciousness. He couldn't move, even if he wanted too. It was all together, a completely depressing state of existence.

Especially for someone like Arden, who prided himself on his physical abilities, as well as his mental abilities. A three meter reverse leap should have been within his capabilities, he couldn't understand why he'd blacked out.

This state of paralyzation was worrying him. Even more, his apparent inability to formulate a complex thought, do to the unpredictable blackouts, made him inable to discover the reasons behind his current sorry state.

All he could do was wait for the next blackout, attempt to rest. He only hoped that time would solve this problem, luckily for him, he had -plenty- of time.

Sean was visiting the Captain in the Medical Bay, he apparently had advanced paralyisis.

This could be bad for the entire crew, without a captain there will be disarry, untill the XO takes over for full Captainship, but untill then, he still only has the priviliges of a Acting Captain

Sean took this disarry for his advantage, he opened a closed circiut communication to the Science Commision

"Plant 4 was a success, it went in conjunction with the simulations we made, I do not think the Captain suspects anything, If he did, it doesn't matter, he is disabled in the medical bay at the moment, To take advantage of this disarray, make sure it takes as long as possible to give the XO full Commanding abilities

As you earlier suggested the captain is the only compatible subject in the entire crew, aside from myself, but as we all know, the formula is partially derived from my blood. Anyway, it would be ineffective to inject when the captain in injured, we must wait for a full recovery, perhaps send a speciallist to take care of him.

End Comm.

Sean turned in his room, eyed the bed

Sleep is for the weak He thought to himself, and went off to offer his assistace aboard the ship, as his Science Lab was burned to a crisp

He snapped his fingers rather loudly, and ordered the medic who came to attend him to bring him his freaking clothes.

Minutes later, Arden was up and running. Rather angry, aching, but moving. He sighed as he slid on his Commo helmet.

Messages flooded him. He frowned. He flicked a link open to the EW Room.

'This is Velisuar, I'm on my way.'

Arden did a rather good job of disguising the pain he felt every time he moved. Then again, he -was- a graduate of the Dysaryn Stark School of Combat, he was -used- to pain.

'This is Lieutenant Arden Velisuar, Commanding Officer of the RNS Lady Xiri. I don't know what my Over-eager little Ensign here has said to you, but if we came off as Hostile, I'm sorry. Unfortunately, we had a little bit of a crisis here, but we have that under control. Now, please state your reasons for contact and the usual legalese, and we can get on with this. Velisuar Out.'

He cut the commo line with a snap. Arden looked down at John.
'Ensign, good work. Just try not to bust out the guns until you have no choice. Understood?'

Arden smirked offhand, and turned to eye one of the viscreens. The light caught on the little silver Daggerstar hung about his neck, then seemed to leap to his lapel pin. It was a bloodline pin, a translucent red tear-drop, meant to look like a drop of blood. It seemed to glow, as it reflected the light. Kindof odd, that.

Now was his Oportunity, The Captain was deep in a weary sleep, exhasting himself with the simple task of walking and issuing orders, but That would be natural, After all He did take an impact explosion to the chest...Sean thought

Sean calmly walked down the hall to the Captains quarters, when He arrived he used the Welding torch he had lifted from Engineering to Dampen the lights, and when he said dampen he meant welding through the Plastic and burning out the Filament, he did this so that when he walked into the Captains quarters, the Sleeping subject would not be awaken by the sudden change in light.

He dropped the torch, and snuck into the Quarters, the Captain, so trustworthy of his crew, had left the door unlocked, so no unnessisary noise was needed. He looked around the room, average for a captain, and as usual, much larger than general quarters, if he had been an average person, he might have been jealous, then again, he wasn't an average person.

He pulled the vial out of his uniform pocket and inserted it into a Needle, and placed it in. He would have to do this very carefully, If he didn't put it in the exact spot, the pain would activate his internal sensors and wake him, and then bang! Strait to Prision, do not pass go, do not collect the 50,000 Credits that He was getting for this mission. He moved over the captain, sleeping so restfully, exertion could do that to you. The slight change in light made the captain shift slightly, the movent caused the Scientist to Jump, but as soon as the captain turned and grumbled, he walked over again. He found the spot where the docters had patched him, where the pain would be least noticed, and if it was, would be waved off as the pain he expericed after the surgery. Sean slipped the needle in, and pushed down the plunger, ejecting the greenish liquid into the Man's body. Mission Accomplished

As he slipped out he dropped 3 streiod pills inot the captains water container, it would be cleaned out in the morning, be no doubt the captian had drunk it the night before. That would be the excuse for the strange feeling the Captain would experience.

As he slipped out and closed the door, sean thought to himself The Captain will wake up feeling like a new man, and when or if he see's the docter, the trace amount of steriods in his container will be his explaination. Yes, I may go down in history as the Man who created The First Revenian Super-soldier.

When Sean got back to his quarters, he looked at the assortment of pills on the table, one was cyanide, one would erace his memory, and one released poison gas. To finish the Mission he was supposed to erase his memory, so the Cpatian couldn't track him down. No, not yet, He is my Creation, I worked hard to get the serum out of plant 4, and I want to be the one who records the changes With that, he threw all of the pills into the Garbage disposal, to be incenerated.

OOC: Sorry 'bout the delays. Finals, ISP problems, and a fun little crisis kindof had me down for a bit. Anyways.

Arden opened his eyes. He felt a little strange. No, it was -more- than a -little- strange. He felt very, very strange. He closed his eyes, and ran through a quick internal diagnostic.

He had a very basic Biokinetic talent. It ran in the family. It wasn't really anything special, the same things that he achieved through his talent could be achieved through Discipline and meditation. It was just quicker for him to do it this way.

He frowned, the doctors had done a good job, but, he recognized the sort of wound that only a hypodermic needle could make. He wasn't in the least bit surprised. Revenian medicine had long since abandoned other types of injection, in favor of the clean, accurate, and largely painless method offered through the classic hypo.

Hrrm. He swung his legs up off the bed, and slid to his feet. Felt surprisingly good. He thought for a few seconds, then decided.

"Booster, stationary punching bag."

The bag dropped from a recessed panel in the ceiling, hanging approximately six feet off the ground. Just about eye level. Arden eyed the leather bag, and dropped into a Mantok stance.

Mantok was used almost solely by the Inquisition these days, but Arden found its various nuances to be almost poetry in motion. He lithely worked through a few warm-up excercises, then ran through a quick punching drill. He didn't remember his jabs being so fast. Hmm.

Arden barely noticed the passing of time, he was absorbed in his drills. Probability equations had flooded back into his head, and he found himself guessing the reactions of the punching bag when he hit it with a given strike.

He hadn't been wrong yet.

It is as I had Predicted Sean thought to himself as he eyed the Captain's energy signs on a medical screen he had taken from the Sickbay, most people would be suspiciuos, a needle and varoius other things had been taken, but he asked for this one, and he ahd been accomodated.

He needed to be under survalince he had said, the captain might have a cronic condition from the plant debris that has been thrown from the lab, and they had all been so trustworthy, thay gave him the access to the scanners that were implanted in every patient whose condition was more than severe.

The Commision will be very pleased about this, but I need to delay, the minute they get this information, the're going to seize the ship and take the captain away, I need more time.

For little do those fools at the commision know, I am more than just a "Pawn" in their grand scheme for the super-soldiers, I am going to leave rich, I need several other samples to sell to the dealers I came into contact before they left, five billion for a litre of the formula, sure its going to have to come from the Captain, and I haven't figured out how to get it, but that is only a minor setback.

Sean finished recording the changes for Today, it would be the second day and night that the most noticeable changes will take place. For now he will just have a voracius appitite.

He sent the Changes to the High Science Commission, with the changes, but adding a note not to take action untill further notice, as further study is needed.

The moment Sean made two mistakes in his excitement, he sent the report with his name on it, a standard signature, but would give him away none the less, but the more serious mistakes were, He forgot to Encode and Encrypt the transmission which meant that the message went through the standard scan and sweep from the Ships AI and the Ships Head science officer.

Arden frowned, as he munched absently on one of the issue high-energy ration bars. He was damn well aware that something funky was going on...he was equally well aware of how the effects of that something were likely to be unpredictable.

You see, Arden wasn't human. But that was no surprise. He had enough differences to not be considered human, you see. His ancestors had never been to earth, his culture had developed differently, and thusly, he wasn't human.

But he also wasn't fully Revenian. He was a halfling. Born of the Ascended. Ascended bred true only among themselves, but once an Ascended entered the bloodline, it took a while for it to be bred out. Arden was the result of just such an event, and thusly, he was different.

He was faster, stronger, and smarter than your average Revenian. He also had an inbred psionic talent, as well as some...other, vaguely understood differences. He knew that his halfling DNA was being mutated, but there wasn't a whole lot he could do about.

So, he ran with it.

In the mean time, the rest of the crew had been focused on preparing for the next warp point transit. They didn't have much time for anything else, thus, priority outbound messages were simply dumped into the nearest drivesat and shot back to Nexus.

Unfortunately, the Nexus System Controller AI wasn't nearly so careless. No, Dur didn't like not knowing things. But, the Lady Xiri had a high enough secrecy rating that it was blacked out on inbound. Nothing in, and only one databurst per system.

OOC: Was the Nexus system controller encountering my message to the Comission, or was it just iterating the fact that it wasn't as careless as the crew.

Also, where did Solviet Trasa Go? as head of security I would think that he would of been notified of such a suspicious non-encrypted message.
Oh well.

IC: Sean rubbed his chin in confusion, although the Drug had the neccissary effect, it just wasn't reacting as it should've been, there was something about the captains anotomy that he just couldn't put his finger on. Something he would have to investigate later.

It was only now that Sean realized what had happend, he forgot to encode his message, which means that anyone on the ship with the proper clearance could've read it, which would be unfortunate for him if he was found out.

With this new revilation, he put in motion his plan named Operation Exsidus, if he was to be found out, he was going to have a secured shuttle in the ship waiting for him, in the event he had to bail out and find a safe haven, in which he would wait for a year, go back to the comission, get body-altering surgery, and get sent back to his desk job, none the wiser.

Although he id like this kind of fieldwork, in the event that he failed, he knew he would never be picked again, unless the Comission was desperate.

OOC: Yeah, Durandal, (If you've ever played Marathon, you know -exactly- who I'm talking about..)knows all about the Commission now, but it remains to be seen what'll happen to them.

IC:

Arden pivoted around on his left foot, his right snapped up and out. The punching bag recoiled. He spun out, and went in low with a quick alternating left/right jab. He'd been at it for two hours, and he didn't show any signs of fatigue.
--
Second Lieutenant Derek Veltaren stepped into the gym. He was the ship's troubleshooter, the onboard marine. He was stripped to the waist, his muscles rippled. The captain had wanted some unarmed combat, and he was here to provide.
--
Arden went in fast, his right fist hooked in and caught Derek on the chin. But the Marine was an ex-marauder, and certified Lethal in hand-to-hand. Arden found himself hurtling through the air, as the marine simply channeled his own momentum into a throw.

Arden arced his back explosively, while kicking his legs out. He pulled the kip off effortlessly, and signalled the marine to engage. Derek came in slowly, showing none of Arden's reckless speed. Arden moved, and his knife-fighter's muscles were trained for speed an accuracy. He used those now, and he felt his fist connect with the Second Lieutenant's torso.

He dropped low, his leg spun out, sweeping Derek's feet out from under him. The move was classic, the counter wasn't. Derek dropped prone, grabbed Arden's leg as it swooshed over him, and threw him flat on his back.

Arden rose with a grin, and clasped forearms with the marine.

"Well fought, Derek. Well fought," said Arden
"Agreed, good workout. Anytime you want to go, gimme a call," said Derek, with a smile.

OOC: Alright, My mistake, Trasa I thought you were the Head, oh well, it still goes.

IC: Sean Jumped slightly as the Comm chirped, he had been summoned by a security officer to the the EW room, to be questioned no doubt.

On closer inspection however, it was not as he had thought, the person who had summoned hime was not the Chief of Security, but a mere Ensign, hopefully one that could be talked out of, and if that didn't work, there was always bribery, and if that failed, there was always threats, threats always worked.

AS Sean left the room, he pocketed the pistol that the officer had handed out when he was back in the Sci-Lab, hopefully we wouldn't have to use it.
