Isam Information Network: Mourning of an Empire

28-11-2003, 21:06
*Upon the Isam Information Network (Isam's primary news network) channels across the globe Mark Jehin, main anchorman of Home News, is dressed in sombre black, with a single white lilly pinned to his coat. Behind him can clearly be seen a crucifix in the Isam design - Christ Upon the Cross, encircled by the barbed wire that represents the non-Christian world to the people of Isam. He has obviously been crying after hearing teh news he is about to deliver but clears his throat and speaks to the camera.*

"Today the Imperial Faith Union, the Holy Empire of the Isam Nation, is mourning the death of the Holy Father. The Unamed Ruler passed away earlier this mourning after a series of strokes. His Holiness has been suffering from these for several months and although he accepted them as a flagellation to work off his very few sins so that he may be certain of entering Heaven, the Nation will still mourn the loss of their spiritual and corporeal leader.

"When the Holy Father died, the Seceretary to the Holy Father took up the governing of the Most Holy Empire until the new Holy Father can be decided upon by the Hierarchy as a suitable Voice of the Lord God Upon Earth. Until then the Seceretary shall ensure that we are not attacked. Following this event the Second, Third, Fourth and Seventh Armies were recalled from overseas along with the Third, Fifth and Sixth Fleets and the Fourth, Fifth and Seventh Winged Batallions [[Air forces]].

"Although it grieved him to order them to remain at their duties the Second Fleet, Third Winged Batallion and the Fifth Army are to remain at their duties as foreign Christian forces require their aid.

"The funeral is to take place in several days, once the necessary Rites of Consecration have taken place and those valient soldiers of the Imperial Faith Union who still fight for the Faith are to be issued with direct-links to the funeral service. We, the IIN, have been granted the exclusive Right of Observation to the Outside World and it will be shown live on this channel.

"Following the death of the Holy Father several cities throughout the Union have rioted, but these have been put down with the help of their resident garrissons and Interrogator-Chaplains.

"For the funeral, the entire First Army along with the Tol Isam City Garrison will patrol the Holy City in shifts in order to prevent disturbances. At the same time the First Winged Battallion will defend against air attacks and the First Fleet will defend the coast. Eye of God Observation Satellites will moniter the region.

"I have also been instructed to inform any watchers that foreign ambassadors will be welcomed to the funeral, but bodyguards will not be permitted beyond the Inner wall except in exceptional circumstances and on no circumstances will anyone but the ambassador and his or her personal aide be permitted within the Great Cathedral.

"In addition, all baggage of all foreigners entering Tol Isam for the period will be searched"

*Jehin rises and leaves the camera's view, to be replaced with another presenter, who has also been crying, but who appears more composed*
"In other news..."

A formal Statement is sent towards the Capital, coming from the Ambassador's office of the Confederacy of Mason Dixion-America. It is written out on papyrus, signed and sealed

Your Holiness,

It grieves me to hear such news, that such a fine Christian man has gone to join our Lord and the Saints in heaven. While this is joyful news for him, on earth, it is truly a sad time to loose such a man as the Holy Father was. Though I never had the chance to meet with him or speak with him, I have read a great deal on him and your beloved country. I will pray that God shall bring forth a proper and Godly man to take control of your government.

I tell you this day, we shall mourn with our Christian Brothers in this loss.
If you should need anything, please do not hesistate to ask. And May God bless and keep your country in this time of grief.

Sincerely,

Charles E. Lee

President of the Confederacy of Mason Dixion-America.

*A message is sent in return to the Confederacy of Mason Dixon-America. This is in the form of vellum and is signed and sealed by the Archbishop of Foreign Affairs - his name is not given but the message is signed with his title, as though that were his name, but thinking back, neither the Holy Father or Seceretary were named either.*

To C.E. Lee,

The Hierarchy thanks you for your condolences and your concern. The Most Holy Empire shall endeavour to keep itself secure from outside invasions during the mourning period, despite the military recall from aborad - although the other members of the Imperial Faith Union have sworn their aid if any usch attack should arrive (although with the majority of the armed forces within Isam it seems unlikely that such an attack would be contemplated, but we thank you for your concern).

I hope that your nation remains strong and holds to the True Faith, and I hope that you will send an ambassador to the funeral.

My regards,

The Archbishop of Foreign Affairs

The Holy City of Tol Isam,
The Isam Nation,
The Most Holy Empire of Isam,
The Imperial Faith Union.

Again, the response comes back on papyrus paper as soon as it can. signed and sealed, with the Country's Seal.

Your Holiness,

You shall bet our Ambassador shall come. I have sent a telegram to Ajax Hood, to go to the Funeral, when the time and date is supplied to him. A simple telegram of the event, will be enough.

Again our deep heartfelt sorrow goes out to you and your Country.

Sincerely,

C.E. Lee.

President of the Confederacy of Mason Dixion-America.
