The Horror Of Garrack Island (open rp)

28-11-2003, 14:07
"Last night the Imperial War Office issued a statement declaring that contact had been lost with the military outpost on the island known as Garrack.

The spokesperson stated that the War Office believes the island may have been invaded by another nation or it could all just be a complete failure of the somewhat crude wireless telegraph used to keep contact. The spokesperson went on to say that the War Office amitts that there is a research base on the island.

Also stated was that the War Office will be sending in the elite convict unit the Rogue Gunmen to investigate, it also calls for help from other nations in finding out what happened."

A small unit has been dispatched from the Athel Nora'n intervention force which is still partially in Steam Earth to help in the investigation. 10 Storm Troopers (ST). Besides the standard eqiupment ("Helblazer" lasguns and anti-personel and armor grenades, bayonets and ''Honour" knives) they are equiped with a plasma rifle and flamer while the sergeant also carries a power sword.

OOC: Individuality is not encouraged in the Storm Trooper squads so it's hard to find out their names or faces.

All units will be shipped out to the Island via a transport blimp, which will return to the mainland once all the units have been dropped off. A transport blimp will return in a week's time to collect the units who are still alive. Of course a blimp will arrive earlier via using the wireless telegraph.

GARRACK

Young Herbert ran blindly through the trees, mainly due to the fact that he had lost his glasses and it was night time. Distant growls and the rustling of leaves told him that THEY weren't far behind, dammit the whole god damn experiment out of control. The soldiers at the base hadn't had much of a chance, being totally ripped to bloody pieces.

A large tree root caught his foot as he ran making him fall. They tried to get up, tried to keep moving. But they were upon him with in seconds.

His screams echoed across the lonely Island.

Captain Vimes stood at ease in front of the Commander's desk, Commander-in-Chief William Bates laid down some papers in front of him. "Well only two other teams are going in with your squad to Garrack, thou hopefully you should still be able to carry out your mission objectives."

"Yes sir."

"Good, now was there something you wanted to say?"

"Sir I take it that there is still no word from the base?"

"That is correct."

"So if its as bad as we think s--......"

Bates cut him off in mid-sentance. "......Yes we do believe it is that bad, that is why you must carry out the mission objectives."

"To hell with the mission objectives! We don't even know what has happened! Anyway what about those so-called lizard men?"

"It is possible that they could have attacked the base, they do whorship the island Swamp Dragons for crying out loud man. You have your orders, the mission objectives must be and will be carried out. Is that understood?"

Vimes spaty out his reply rather coldly. "Yes sir."

*The Isam crew arrive via a light naval transport, all their equipment is aboard and they disembark in a quiet, orderly fashion after securing their vessel. Within ten minutes all of their equipment is neatly arranged near where they landed, everything and everyone accounted for. It is more than a little unnerving - there is none of the usual humour among soldiers, no banter or conversation beyond that required by their task. There is no levity visible, their faces emotionless.
They make very little noise as they work and every three hours they quietly chant a hymm. Every twelve hours the Interrogator-Chaplain holds a service for the men. Religious icons are clearly noticeable among the team - the most definitive icon is that of Christ Upon the Cross, although the icon (stitched upon the breast of their uniforms) is surrounded by styalised barbed wire. No doubt this is symbolic of something. One of the team has an islamic symbol instead, and one the Star of David. Yet another has an unadorned cruficix in place of Isam's depiction.*

The imperial drop ship landed some distance from the Isam ship. In disciplined movements the Storm troopers moved out and took defensive positions.
Their faces were as usual covered in masks, the imperial eagle proudly presented on their helmets. With a slight rush of air the drop ship took off.
The group moved towards the Isam soldiers, at an unheard order the squad once again took positions and began scanning the area.
Sergeant Cassius moved up to the group, picking out the chaplain he spoke,
"Sergeant Cassius of his Imperial Mights Storm Troopers. I believe you are Interogater-Chaplain Toran of the Isam military.'
after confirmation (or neglection) he contineud,
"Seeing as you had arrived first did you find out anything of interest? Something giving a clue to the source of the trouble?"

OOC: Could I RP as something a bit unique? Or does it have to be a military team?

A Jukon-class Submarine is holding position near Garrack.

On its deck is a blue-and-white Mobile Suit with cameras sticking out of its shoulders, torso, and head, and four boosters sticking out of its back. It's one of Starlight Angel's Kuwagata Tracker suits.

"This is Lt. Douglas, requesting permission to launch." the pilot radios.

"Permission granted. Scout the island thoroughly and report back."

"Roger."

The Mobile Suit launches for the island.

OOC:

Lt. Karl Douglas, recon pilot for Starlight Angel. He is armed with a 9mm pistol, four extra clips (each with 15 rounds), three anti-personnel grenades, and a combat knife.

His suit, a Kuwagata Tracker, is armed with a Beam Saber and two 90mm Forearm Gatling Guns.

"I am. Greetings, Sergeant Cassius. At the moment he have not discovered anything. The cloud cover", he points to the overcast sky, "obscures our observation satellites' views. Have you managed to learn anything yet?"

Around him his team have long since finished setting up their gear. Their armamanets are neatly arranged by each's other equipment. The launch is drawn up upon the sand and secured.

Cassius thought for a while, recalling all that intelligence informed him of,
"Intelligence claims that this island..." he waved his around him, "... is loaded with life forms, but were not sure if these "life forms" are intelligent or mearly animals." He paused for a second than continued, "Also we've been standing here for about five minutes and nothing has come out to check us, nothing. No animals, humanoids, I havn't even noticied a bird since I landed, strange isn't it?"
