Xanthal

OOC: This is an RP if you wish it to be and jump in with something. Otherwise, consider it a product of a bored and creative mind. It is really happening in the RP world though.
IC: In the Aellis system, between the orbits of Aellis VII and VIII, there has never been anything that truly stands out. Certainly there are the hundreds of battlestations that stand as the last line of defense for the capital system of Xanthal, and the constant comings and goings of thousands of ships big and small, military and nonmilitary; but they are all commonplace and do not draw one's eye. Indeed, they seem to be merely a part of the scenery; with the four inhabited planets of Aellis spinning behind them. Over the past five years though, a project had begun to take shape. One single project with an end product so totally magnificent that it nearly brought a tear to one's eye, doubly so if they knew what it was truly capable of.
The project now stands completed; a ring with the diameter of a small planet floating in space, just behind the defense outposts. The ring shines the purest shade of gold, and sparkles brightly in the light from the outposts behind it and the planets in front. Attached to one side of the ring is a box with windows, the control station for the entire device. The control section is bright silver, making the setup resemble a giant, single-diamond wedding ring. Military ships fly in formation around the ring it as it is dedicated. Countless civilian craft hover about, watching the proceedings.
The ceremony is completed quickly; the ring, the Infinity Gate, begins to glow with an inner light. In the center of the gate, a bright light begins to shine, growing slowly in size for almost five minutes before engulfing the entire gate. The light is pure white, and easily blinding. In an instant the white light is replaced with a whirling vortex that seems to glow with every color. The facility is operational. Xanthal's greatest achievement, the Infinity Gate, now stands proudly; ready to grant those who pass through it access to places beyond anything one of this universe could possibly imagine.
