Republic opens up to increased trade in defiance of blockade

Dra-pol
26-11-2003, 11:18
The Choson People's Republic of Dra-pol, for almost two years since the end of its total (sixty year) isolation, has been under intense attack by a coalition of capitalist Christian nations. The naval blockade they enforced against the state (situated over North Korea) has greatly limited trade growth, imports having to come entirely through China at considerable cost.

Now however, as imperialist after imperialist retreats from Dra-pol in defeat, DaKhiem (the capital) has stated that it will no longer be restrained by the blockade. Hostile assets in the Yellow Sea have been told to leave lest they be sunk by the People's Army Air Force, and the famished republic now calls for just and brave nations to engage in trade with Dra-pol on its Yellow Sea ports.

The republic is above alll else in considerable need of foodstuffs, oil, diesel and aviation fuel, uranium, and medical supplies, and has of late acquired the economic strength to pay for them.

It is hoped by DaKhiem that an apparent economic down-turn will make Dra-pol's vast market and powerful economy all the more tempting.

The Republic of Taiwan announces publicly it's intentions to develop economic relations with Dra-pol. This has caused howls of protest from the outgoing Chinese Christian Party, who have threatened to file a high court injunction.

Political analysts have suggested that the ruling KMT Party is moving to capture the moderate votes, who saw the last chrisitan party as extremist and medieval.

Government Announces Investment Plan
By Choi-Chul-Ho

In a stunning backlash against the deeply conservative policies maintained by the South Dalanian Senate, Prime Minister Edward Choi has announced that he will pursue economic and diplomatic ties with South Dalania's northern neighbor, Dra-pol.

"In order to facilitate a sense of community and in the spirit of helping our brothers to the North, we as South Dalanians must take a stand in what is right," said the prime minister in an address to both the Senate and House of Representatives.

The announcement has spawned severe protest from both the Soju New Awareness Party as well as the highly radical anti-communist, Mansei Progressive Faction. The ruling Liberal Republican Party is also expected to voice a protest within the week.

House leader, Chong-Ko-Minh led a verbal attack on Prime Minister Choi, accusing him of "selling out to the communist despots and taking steps against South Dalania's interests."

However the prime minister has announced that ships loaded with food, medical supplies and information technology (PC's) will be heading for Dra-pol within the week despite the division within the legislative body.

Both Dra-pol and South Dalania are of OOC: Korean ethnicity with Dra-pol being modeled after the OOC: North and South Dalania being modeled after the OOC: South.

The Oppressive Church wishes to also open Economic Ties with Dra-Pol. The Oppressive Church is not a member of the Christian Coalition, and wishes to show the people of Dra-Pol that Christians are not all bad, by helping to rebuild Dra-Pol economy.

Of course, Dra-Pol can always deny the Church from this... If they're still bitter against Christians, and are not open minded, and have condemned the entire religion...

(Ah! Splendid, South Dalania, I have been looking for an active southern neighbour. I have been considering China a reasonably friendly if suspicious none-player-controlled state, and I didn't want to have to speak for South Korea as well.)

DaKhiem, central Dra-pol

The Central Directorature's front wall video-screen has again this week been dashed with the strong features of Secretary Hotan, this time speaking of Choson unity as traders from the south make for western Drapoel ports. He urges comrades on farming and industrial collectives to redouble their efforts so that they might produce sufficient goods to do healthy trade with their long lost cousins*.

After some consideration, the Secretary concluded that, though they presented all manner of potential political problems, The Opressive Church was a state.. managable enough to work in his favour.
Hotan felt that he knew who his enemies were, and invited The Opressive Church to open trade, or to arrange dispatch of representatives for a visit. (As yet Dra-pol has made no mention of permanent consular posts in the republic, of which there are presently none, since the few existing suffered unfortunate political twists of fate.)

The Central Directorature confirmed to Olympus Coliseum their interest in importing from that nation oil and uranium in particular.

Though suspicious of just about everybody's motives, the Central Directorature released a list of Dra-pol's major potential trade commodities. It detailed the following resources:
Coal, lead, tungsten, zinc, graphite, magnesite, iron ore, copper, gold, pyrites, salt, and hydropower.

Of course many of these; copper and iron ore for example; are not exactly in sufficient production for export due to the strains the war industry has put on them. Hydropower exists more in potential than effect at this moment, again the war has made dam construction less than top priority, and well, why build targets when air superiority is contested so? Eventually it is hoped that Dra-pol could produce sufficent electricty through hydropower for export to China and South Dalania to be a possibility.

*Yes, suspiciously fawning for a violently commited anti-capitalist, but needs must, and the ethnic similarity provides Hotan some propaganda grounding for accepting the southerners, for now. Of course most ordinary Drapoel won't be allowed to communicate directly with the foreigners, who will mainly associate with officers of the Banat (Dra-pol's infamous secret police, whose entire organisation is wanted in Quinntonia on war crimes charges. Nice.)- though they may appear to the outsiders as civilians.

The nation of SteamEarth states that it'll be able to send foodstuffs, oil, diesel and aviation fuel, uranium, and medical supplies to the Republic of Dra-pol and will be doing so via cargo blimp to avoid the blockade.

The Drapoel people, under blockade for months on end, have come to rely on a very narrow diet. Some imports from the African Commonwealth via China have had local effect, but the population at large is feeling the effects of malnutrition. As well as imrpoving the diet of the masses, it is necessary to treat those who are already sick- over twenty thousand people have perished as a result of starvation or malnutrition. Collective industry is needed for the war effort, resulting in a fall of agricultural out-put, and of course the fact that Hamhung, halfway up the east coast, lies directly in Dra-pol's best farmland- and under imperialist domination.

Makeshift hospitals at village co-operatives around the nation are already over-stretched by wounded from the front around Hamhung, and following the liberation of Pyongyang. With more than two million killed as a direct result of the on-going invasion, one can appreciate that the numbers of wounded are high- napalm-based weapons have several times been used against the people, and the capital has been pounded by artillery, and bombed from the skies. In short, any manner of injury may be found in horrid abundance.

Needs are perhaps more general than specific.

-Dispatched from the desk of the Secretary of the Republic.

The Central Directorature meanwhile sought contact with Chung-Kuo Aircraft, and Golden Mountain foodstuffs, the republic's once more improved treasury promising to allow major deals.

(ooc:You may note that the economy is now listed as frightening.. however, Dra-pol was isolated until two years ago, and its forced reintroduction to the wider world, with Dra-pol's 60yr obsolete technologies and collectivist agriculture and industry could not compete, and the economy imploded. The war industry and limited trade with a few intrepid nations has helped the economic growth- but of course the benefits have all been blown on sustaining a nine million man army against a coalition of more advanced, wealthy, and large nations. I think it would be unrealistic to assume that the per capita GDP can instantly clear up every aspect of the backwards infrastructure and fight the war. so there you go [/disclaimer] (oh, plus the economy has only hit frightening to-day. Fastest ever recovery from implosion?))

This group sets up temporary medical units , mobile hospitals and other types of aid. We are willing to supply and dispatch this group to your nation to assist with your health and nutrition needs.
Any attack on this unarmed group would be considered an act of war against Celeborne, and I am sure that the nations that Shiva team has helped in the past would not be well disposed towards the attackers.

Secretary Hotan hissed slightly as he inhaled through clenched teeth. How on earth was he to manage the republic's international relations - increasingly conducted in Drapoel territory- without exposing the masses to direct foreign influence? Avoiding slip-ups would be a difficult affair, and with a war on, too.

He finished his reply to Celeborne, confirming that Shiva Team would be accepted into Dra-pol, but for their own safety, and for the republic's security during this time of war on Drapoel soil, they would be confined to the area around the tiny southern port of Haeju.

Relatively close to the southern border, and far from the Hamhung front-lines, it seemed a sensible and secure location.

(It is a small port really only because up until two years ago no traffic was allowed in to or out of Dra-pol, and more than sixty years ago the nation began a forced ruralisation, leaving no true cities. Since then DaKhiem, the capital, has become an administrative centre with a daytime population over 30,000, Pyongyang has become a military base with on-site accomodation for thousands, Hamhung has been built up into a major industrial town (by the invaders who're held up there) and Kanggye is a massive fortress and mess of bunkers and factories. Otherwise everybody lives in village collectives scattered around the nation. The only port that doesn't qualify as small is Hungnam (at Hamhung) in enemy hands.)

Prime Minister Abandons Shipping, Opts for Overland Supply
By Choi-Chul-Ho

With a number of supply ships being turned around by the hostile blockade force around Dra-pol, Prime Minister Edward Choi has opted to open a supply line across the DMZ (De-Militarized Zone) in order to facilitate re-supply.

"I am speedily consulting with the Dra-pol government in order to open the DMZ, at least temporarily, to allow supplies into the North," said the prime minister in his second address to the Legislative Assembly. "I do not wish to airlift supplies, seeing the measures of defense that Dra-pol has along the northern frontier, one does not want any misunderstandings."

South Dalania and Dra-pol maintain a long fortified border known as the DMZ. This line was drawn in the OOC: 1950-1953 Korean War and separates the OOC: South from the OOC: North.

The military has reluctantly agreed to go along with the idea, provided a defense line be established ten miles behind the DMZ in case of attack.

Although major highways and railways in Dra-pol have long been respectively adandoned to the forest and stripped of their iron for the war effort, the Central Directorature has confirmed that a "gateway" is to be opened somewhere along the western end of the southern border, enabling trade goods to pass into Haeju District.

Generally Drapoel commerce flows along mountain trails and small dirt roads, on the backs of the masses, often their cows, and from time to time bicycles and even the odd military off-road truck. It appears that a little more may be needed, and military engineers are working on slightly widening a little used trail in the south west (still, don't expect a paved six lane freeway).

Secretary Hotan has filed a Directorate signed by Director Koshiako, making Haeju District a regional centre for external affairs and commerce. As such an armoured company and two infantry detachments are to be stationed close to the port, for the area's security. These will be drawn from the ample surpluss left over since the collapse of the enemy's western front around liberated Pyongyang.

Hotan has created for himself a new headache, as he attempts to decide his best angle of attack in terms of propaganda in the area. Should the military units be his best, or his worst? Does he want Dra-pol to appear strong, or should he play on the sympathies of the outsiders? The late great Director Kurosian would have gone for the showey option without a second thought.

Meanwhile, J-10 and FC-1 fighter aircraft of the Drapoel PAAF are flying an ever increasing volume of sorties combat-ready, frequently bearing anti-shipping missiles on their inland patrols parallel to the coast.

Southern Forces Open DMZ Gates
By Choi Chul Ho

For the first time in half a century, gates along the DMZ opened as humantiarian aid trucks (clearly painted with Red Cross insignia) drove through the southern side and entered Dra-pol. The trucks bypassed the the main negotiation point at Panmunjom, instead choosing a western route which will take them closer to Haeju, the sector of Dra-pol that has recently been opened to foreign aid workers. Drivers of the vehicles and the staff inside of them were all Red Cross workers; no South Dalanian military personnel or military medical staff were involved in the crossover.

Security was exceptionally tight today along the border. South Dalanian military forces numbering a total of about 7,000 troops were spread along a ten mile line behind the DMZ, with additional reserves being held around Seoul and the port of Inchon.

Southern forces along the DMZ also stopped and inspected each vehicle, ensuring that only manifested humanitarian supplies were inside and that no contraband material was present.

Contraband materials include radioactive materials, weapons, maps or charts, GPS devices and non-listed electronic devices.

First sightings by border guards of approaching vehicles apparently bearing the emblem of the invading "Crusader Coalition" caused a brief panic in southern Dra-pol, before senior Banat officers were able to radio confirmation of the true identity of the column. Reportedly a Red Bamboo grenade ambush on the South Dalanian air trucks was only narrowly averted. As yet official confirmation of the near disaster has not been forth-coming, and it is hoped that "no one noticed" what might have been.

A programme is under-way to refresh the masses of raw People's Army recruits on the mountain of new identification marks they must learn in coming days. Previously they had need only to know their own, and that anything else was the enemy.

Aid Trucks Reach Haeju
By Choi Chul Ho

Humanitarian aid workers sent by South Dalania have reached the souther Dra-polian city of Haeju. The unloading of supplies has commenced and is reportedly being assisted by members of the Dra-polian People's Army. Radioing in by satellite phone (under observation by Banat security forces) Aid leader, Chong-Gwon-Yi reported that, "Haeju is flooded with other foreign aid workers, however we have seen few civillians...those that we have seen have been accompanied by security officials. However the supplies are being well-received and the Dra-pol security forces have been most helpful in ensuring these supplies will be distributed."

Unconfirmed reports have surfaced suggesting that uninformed Dra-pol paramiliataries planned an attack on the convoy, but were deferred in time by an announcement from their headquarters in Pyongyang.

27-11-2003, 20:10
The People's Commonwealth of Beth Gellert, having observed a significant continued hostile naval presence in the Yellow Sea on scrutiny of satellite reconnaissance, is seeking modification of its plans.

An expeditionary fleet has been assembled (for a second time) in an effort to bring further supplies to Dra-pol (BG CS-400 SAM systems presently defend Drapoel airspace), and Beth Gellert is pleased to see the republic's southern neighbour taking a civilised approach.

Since South Dalania can surely not be under blockade, the BG vessels will request permission to travel in their national waters until a point close to the border, where it is possible that landing craft might bring ashore some assets for travel into Dra-pol. Possibly the expedition will request permission to unload in a northern Dalanian port.

"It is evident" Said CCC comrade Chivo to-day, "that the world is ready and willing to trade with and to assist the Choson People's Republic of Dra-pol, and a naval blockade imparted by a few imperialist states will not stand up before the international community.
"Quinntonian hints at creeping towards a peace treaty are quite hollow while those invaders maintain a blockade, and a military presence on Drapoel soil, while Dra-pol.. sits back in her own borders, struggling to feed her people."

South Dalania Passes Resolution
By Choi Chul Ho

A joint effort between the ruling Liberal Republican Party and peace hawks in the Mansei Progressive Faction have allowed Prime Minister Edward Choi to pass a resolution allowing workers from Beth Gellert access to the port of Inchon as well as granting the use of South Dalanian coastal waters.

"Efforts to stimulate the economy of our northern brothers must not be deterred by petty intergovernment wranglings," announced LRP leader, Steven Kang. "If Beth Gellert desires to provide assistance, then the means will be given to them."

Beth Gellert's mass arrival in South Dalanian waters would be a first in the nation's history. However the venture did not pass without scrutiny from the military. Naval patrol boats will escort humanitarian vessels at all times and the South Dalanian Coast Guard is expected to inform the Beth Gellert government that all vessels will be subject to search.

South Dalania and Dra-pol retain a tentative relationship that stems from the OOC: 1950-1953 Korean War.

Secretary Hotan has begun to deliver frequent speeches to the international community on the newfound strength in Asian unity and co-operation that dares to stand against unjustified imperialism.

Of course these are not for the consumption of the Drapoel masses, as the nation's isolationist policies largely persist. Thankfully, owing to its sixty year seclusion, Dra-pol has not been invaded by television, the internet, or even a significant telecommunications network of the most basic sort. Keeping village collectives in the dark could scarcely be easier, nor could it look much more natural. They are just a rural community- it would be improper to interfere with their traditional way of life, anyway.

Golden Mountain has been asked exactly what they mean by "exclusive contract", bearing in mind that the duck-based agricultural industry is one of Dra-pol's largest (and indeed one of Asia's, according to the UN), and that Dra-pol is already commited to import deals for foodstuffs with several long standing associates.

While as a strong base of private enterprise -a corruption highly distrusted in The People's Commonwealth- South Dalania is increasingly viewed here as "about the best of all possible capitalist states".

In light of this, and more importantly, of their allowance of Beth Gellen aid and trade convoys into Dra-pol, the Final Senate has concluded that it would be in the best interests of all concerned for Beth Gellert to open-up trade with South Dalania. It is thought that the two wealthy and advanced states stand to make a healthy financial profit from such relations. Even the more cynical Senate attendees concur with the suposition that healthy trade would encourage the Dalanian government to maintain BG's access to Dra-pol.

From the Central Directorature to the Golden Mountain company:

Details of your products shed new light on your proposition. You understand, of course, that the Drapoel people have no need for buying power, and so conventional retail involving consumer goods, to your mind, would not be possible in the republic.

However, the Central Directorature is prepared to purchase these products and to incorporate them into distribution schemes in DaKhiem offices and at collective industries around the nation.

We agree to your proposed deal, but ask that in light of your operation in a vast new market place that your packaging be tailored to Drapoel society's needs.

(Essentially this means that the packaging will have to bear Drapoel language only, appear relatively.. plain, probably primarily in red and blue, the colours of the republic, and be approved by the Central Directorature before distribution. (If you want to go into more specific detail then very well, otherwise we can assume it will be so done (or not) and move along)).

To Chung-Kuo Aircraft-

The proposed contract appears ideal. It is unlikely that Dra-pol could begin full scale production of such fuel much before five years from this day, and your price is very reasonable. Your fuels will keep more than five hundred aircraft flying even in the short term, and far more towards the end of the contract.

To Roania-

Rest assured that the Raysians, 8,500 of whom ended their dishonourable lives on Drapoel soil last year, are less than welcome to return. As for Quinntonia- that is a nation with which the republic is still at war. Most of their missionaries in Dra-pol proper were killed during Kurosian II's brief Directorship, after Quinntonian special forces ambushed a supply convoy at Sunch'on. The rest are.. no longer free to spread their imperialistic message. Those in Hamhung & Hungnam (aka Quinntonian Dra-pol) continue to evade all attempts to dislodge them and their running dogs from the peninsula.

The Central Directorature, on Secretary Hotan's Direction, re-released the list of Dra-pol's major potential trade commodities. DaKhiem feels that imports are about to utterly dwarf exports, and though means are limited by the war, the republic is keen at least to generate interest for the future, or small scale short term exports.

Hydropower exists more in potential than effect at this moment, again the war has made dam construction less than top priority, and well, why build targets when air superiority has been contested so? Eventually it is hoped that Dra-pol could produce sufficent electricty through hydropower for export to China and South Dalania to be a possibility.

NOTICE TO ALL NATIONS WISHING TO SUPPLY DRA-POL

ooc: Please bring your posts to the war thread if you intend to enter dra-pol airspace and or waterways. I don't have time to monitor both threads.

IC: We are trying to establish a peace. Bringing in military firepower only makes this guy (Hotan) more bold in the throwing away of Dra-pol lives. We evaculated Poyyonyang in the name of peace but this Hotan guy keeps running his mouth about wiping us out. Just say "no" to that but definitely provide aid to the common dra-pol folks and let them know you passed the blockade freely because we want peace like they do.

Burkina Faso is interested in established trade with Dra-Pol for medical supplies. Burkinabe light industry includes small factories devoted to producing a variety of medicines, primarily vaccines against common diseases such as malaria and tuberculosis but also antibiotics such as Penicilin. We would be interested in trading with Dra-Pol for these commodities, especially for coal, which our factories and power plants rely on primarily.

Penicillin is of considerable interest to the republic, which presently relies on imports for the majority of its medical substances and equipment. Coal is, due to two alternate power sources presently under development (ooc [/shifty eyes]), only likely to increase in availability. It is hoped within a few years to be required in quantity only for the production of coke needed by the steel industry.

The republic is keen to begin trade with Free Brukina Faso, with export of coal, and import of penicillin and to a lesser degree various vaccines.

It is painfully clear to DaKhiem, however, that the nation lacks a substantial merchant fleet, as well as a shipbuilding industry, owing to years of isolation during which foreign trade was absolutely nil. In order to kick-start our import/export market with nations beyond China, Russia, and South Dalania, Dra-pol now finds itself needing to contract merchantman construction to foreign sources.

I had a brief involvement with this quite early on, interested in getting back in...

The Floating World is interested in trade with our neighbours in the emerging market of Dra-pol. We are able to supply uranium obtained through sea-bed drilling. We are interested in coal and any other form of energy generation. Ultimately, we wish to explore for mineral resources in the seabed lying with Dra-poel territorial waters.

(Floating World is a large inter-connected network of rafts accompanied by naval and air forces currently located in a mobile position off the Pacific coast of Asia. Once ruled by corporations, the government of Floating World has been taken over by its largest service-sector business, the Erotic Bank.)

Please advise on whether our trade offer is of interest to you.

After peacefully passing the blockade, Shiva begins docking proceedures and disembarking personnel. When ever Dra-pol is ready we will begin setting up aid stations and distributing food and medical care. We ask if Dra-pol has any prisoners of war that we be allowed to see to them as well.

Certainly the Central Directorature was quick to reply positively to Floating World's approach. Uranium would be of great interest to the renewed Pyongyang Project.

It is likely that Dra-pol will be farily willing to allow some prospecting in her territorial waters, as the republic is one of the least nautically interested nations on earth. Of course at present the imperialist blockade prevents such programmes, but that shall not last forever.
There would of course be tight controls involved- FW projects would be subject to close scrutiny by the Banat, and interaction with the population ashore would be heavily regulated.

However, in the short term, DaKhiem is prepared to make available almost any of the listed resources for export to FW in return for uranium. Presently FW would have to be responsible for any shipping involved in either direction, though efforts are under-way to provide Dra-pol with a small merchant fleet.

The Shiva staff meanwhile are greeted at the tiny port facility -still under construction- in the south west. A small contingent of Red Bamboo riflemen are lined up to provide security, D86 assault rifles on their shoulders, swords on their hips, while a small crowd of civilians, mainly children, wave Drapoel flags from some distance back. A Banat officer (the civilians are likely all families of Banat men and women) leads the doe-eyed youngsters in three cheers for their guests.
The Shiva workers are approached by a contingent of plain-clothes Banat agents adorned in the traditional dress of Dra-pol (sandy coloured and terribly plain, string belt, wood and leather sandals), who promptly set about directing them on near-by locations at which camps may safely be erected.
As they walk one comrade (Sho, though he does not announce such (Sho meaning Major)) Cheiy briefs his guests on a few basic protocols, mostly about where not to go, and what best not to talk about (Christianity being a major point there, though he doesn't go so far as to detail the probability of crucifixion for such a faux pas).

We are agreeable to a barter arrangement at this time of coal for uranium. We understand that our currency, the hour of sexual service, is unlikely to be acceptable to your government. (To put it mildly!) FW does not wish extensive interaction with the Dra-poel citizenry, having already lost a crew of journalists to your country's xenophobia. Our interest is primarily in the offshore resource potential. At a future date, we may wish to purchase secure anchorage on the western coast.

This blockade disturbs us. Blockades are bad for business. We shall investigate the situation.

Yikes, that's a 21-page thread, is there a summary available anywhere?

Prisoners of war? Ah.. from which war, exactl.. ah.. no prisoners of war.

Though an entire Raysian airborn division was captured, all that survived the second battle for DaKhiem, and the friendly fire incident that followed, during which coalition aircraft bombed Raysian prisoners of war (amongst which Red Bamboo absolutely were not hiding!), all were marched back to the east coast and allowed to be evacuated with the rest of the vanquished Raysian military force.

That whole affair is something the authorities are always keen to talk about. A coaltion attack ending in an unexpected Drapoel victory, Drapoel benevolence in releasing so many prisoners, coalition incompetence in bombing them, the liberation of Raysian Dra-pol.

(In truth there really are very few POWs in Dra-pol- most were slaughtered at the end of Kurosian II's brief Directorship, in revenge for the Sunch'on incident -an apparent Quinntonian ambush on an aid convoy, which was in truth a set-up orchestrated by Kurosian Snr (aka "The Butcher of Hamhung") (RIP) There are now POW camps, just a handful of forgotten individuals locked up in local police stations. My, they aren't having a fun couple of years.)

..These things are less likely to be spoken of.

Heh..erm.. let me try (this is going to be long-winded, isn' it? blast.. I can't shut up)

Around the time of your journalists' loss Quinntonia stumbled into Dra-pol.. people were terrified, took them for demons, and a young girl name of Yasuki shot one of the Quinntonians. Following that occured the Three Day War (to Dra-pol, or Kurosian's Rage to Quinntonia), blamed on an epic clash of cultures.

DaKhiem, the capital, was reduced to ruins, and Hamhung/Hungnam was captured by Quinntonia.. in order to avoid further punishment by Quinntonian air units, Director Kurosian allowed Quinntonia to stay and develop the colony of Quinntonian Dra-pol.

Of course once Dra-pol's economy recovered and the nation was no longer in any mood to be bullied, they attempted to take back Hamhung. Quinntonia gathered a coalition against Dra-pol, and over three million people were killed (over 2/3rds Drapoel). Pyongyang was captured, and since liberated, DaKhiem was levelled again, and Hamhung remains unliberated. The war is still on, despite various Drapoel victories.

Director Kurosian was assassinated in China by Quinntonian agents, though we have never IC been able to prove their involvement.

The are Drapoel POWs in Quinntonia, actually. Several thousand Banat agents were surrendered for trial as war criminals, as was Kurosian II, son of the famous Director, and one time Director himself. We do not know their fate.

Now the war is still on, but not "hot" as such, and Hamhung is occupied by Quinntonian and Happy Baseball Fans' forces, and surrounded by the Drapoel. The blockade you know about, I suppose.

Thanks for the summary, much appreciated!

The Floating World is currently located in Southeast Asia waters, but has begun moving towards Dra-pol to pursue this trade opporunity and future prospects for offshore mineral potential. Once we are within range, a representative would be pleased to travel to (location to be named by you) to discuss these arrangements.

Once SteamEarth is a steamtech nation, it sure does use alot of coal.

We do have fairly extensive coalfields, but we could use a little of imported coal.

We can help you set up a light bomber aircraft industry, since our Balmoral Light Bomber seems to be usuable with your technology if I understand correctly?

You'll hopefully set up your own market and go on to build futhur planes, thou we'll only buy a fair number of the Balmorals.

The Central Directorature, while still interested in trade, employs some tact in respectfully declining the offer of help in building Balmoral light bombers, unless they happen to be effective modern ASW aircraft. Dra-pol presently has mach 2 capable jet aircraft by the hundred.
