Al Anbar Dinar Collapses!

26-11-2003, 08:13
Central Bank of Al Anbar

A day of trading at the Al Anbar Stock Exchange and stock exchanges worldwide have brought the Dinar to a collapse. 1 Dinar, yesterday, was worth $7.52 USD. Today, it is worth a mere $0.0052 USD.

The economy is almost as bad as it was during the 1991 Gulf War, where the Dinar collapsed from it's worth of $3.32 USD to much less than a penny.

Reason for this catastrophic collapse can only be one thing: loss of confidence in the Al Anbar's military ability to win the two major wars that Al Anbar is in currently. The first conflict is in Boroglia, where Al Anbar has come to the aide of the Central Boroglian government in order to stop the imperialistic Hrstrovokia and her allies. The second conflict has reached Al Anbar's own borders. The Drakonian Imperium and her allies have crossed the border into Al Anbar in order to seize Al Anbar's oil wealth and territory.

Not only have the wars forced the economic depression on Al Anbar, the cutting off of all oil supplies to the world and the destruction of all the oil producing facilities throughout Al Anbar.

Thank God. Maybe they'll cave over Boroglia and we can recall Miyanda..

Igomo's government gave no official reaction, and the strained president returned to his coffee and the piles of Boroglia-relevent documentation it stained.

What are we going to do... thought President Saddam Hussein. Sighing softly, Saddam looked up from the papers on his desk in his small office. He looked around the room for a moment before turning back to the papers on the desk.

We must get outside support, something that will provide confidence back in Al Anbar... he thought, as he mindlessly looked over the paper in front of him.

Chimaea suggests Al Anbar withdraw from Boroglia and concentrate on defending its own shores. Such a second war, one which is certain to end in defeat, must surely be too costly for Mr. Hussein to maintain at this time.

Telegram to Maraka from Foreign Affairs Ministry

Al Anbar is in dire need of both economic and humanitarian aid. With the collapse of the dinar, Al Anbar has been unable to purchase needed food, medicial, and other such needed materials for the people of Al Anbar.

Therefore, we ask the nation of Maraka to assist us in this hard time. Should Maraka assist the people of Al Anbar, it will show the world that even in tough times, fellow Islamic nations will assist each other.

Sandbags and enemy munitions (slightly used)?

(Heh, sorry! I'll probably regret this soon when I get Lusaka invaded by Rhodesia or something.)

OOC: Well, Al Anbar does sell small quantities of uranium. Purchasing oilfields and developing them is a possibility.

And of course, lots of modern tanks and guns. :)

The Oppressive Church is willing to have an Economic treaty with Al Anbar. Oil for simple necessities. Like food, cars, lumber, and other natural resources that you lack that we have like Alabaster. This only on the condition that any resources given to Al Anbar in trade for Oil will ONLY be used for Civil purposes, and no Military use. And Al Anbar can make NO criticism against The Oppressive Church.

The Church Hierarchy believes this will help rebuild both Country's economies, as the Church Economy has been slipping greatly in recent weeks as well.

BAGHDAD - The general situation of the economy has not improved and has continued its metoric collapse. The dinar has been evaluated at 1 Dinar = 0.000040 USD. The money is worthless.

The government has taken quick action to keep the life in Al Anbar at status quo, however. The government has ordered the removal of all the old currency and the replacing of a new dinar at the rate of 100 Old Dinars to 1 New Dinar. The food rationing system, which had supplied approximately 85% of the needed monthly food ration of one person in Al Anbar has been increased and citizens now get approximately 96%. This is to help those who have suddenly become so poor that they can no longer supplement their rations with food and goods bought at stores and markets.

President Saddam Hussein has also issued a statement calling for calm and that the situation will be fixed as soon as possible. He has pledged that Al Anbar will win the two wars it currently is involved and has called for the people to resist the invaders, saying that the faster the invaders are destroyed, the faster the situation will return to previous levels. Most citizenry have, for now, obeyed this call and are staying calm. Nationalism is still quiet high throughout Al Anbar, has the people recount the horror stories of what happened during the US war just a little over half a year ago.

Introduction of a new currency is a very scary prospect. It is wise at first, but be careful, Brazil (This is in Real life) introduced several currencies in the 1980s in succession to try to keep up it's collapsing economy. Due to the massive amount of assorted currencies, the Brazillian Dollar is now (In real life) worth 2 billion Brazillian = about 21 cents American.

That's their newest currency. Their second newest currecny is worth 2 billion = .21 USD. Their second newest currency is the most widely used in the country still.

But yes, introducing a new currency in Brazil has made it's economy stabilize. But they've introduced so many new currencies, it's created a confusing mess, and made previous currencies drop through the floor.

Al Anbar would like to thank the 'Oppressive Church' for wishing to assist the Al Anbar people and is willing to accept your terms for the aid. However, we would like to point out that at this moment, oil does not flow from the Al Anbar refineries and pipelines due to the current war with Drakonia Imperium and Hrstrovokia and their allies. Oil pumping will not return until after this war.

The oil field is located near the oil refinery at Balad, some fifty kilometers north of Baghdad. The oil field has been explored but not developed yet. The field itself has approximately 3.2 million barrels of oil underneath it. We are willing to lease this land for one year at the cost of $46,500,000 for this year.
