"In light of recent events and hardships felt by nations of the galaxy and universe, I would like to spend a short while discussing the state of the Empire's economy.

It has become apparent that the UN once more has violated the national sovereignty of it's member, purposefully degrading their economies for liberal, now almost communist, views. However, for an organization run by left extremists, this is to be somewhat expected. We are only glad that we left the UN many years ago.

Since then, our economy has flurished. Now more than ever, jobs are in abundance as 89% of our citizens are employed - up 7% from last year. This is all being achieved in a free-trade capitalist economy, although it is common knowledge that the government does hold stock in most major companies.

The demand for our exports of uranium, speeders, industrial supplies, raw materials, weapons, star ships and parts, francium, fine wine, diamonds, gold, silver, and anti-matter is all increasing both domestically and foreign. Most notable is Loire Wine Co.'s decision to distribute fine wines internationally (http://www.nationstates.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=95474).

In short, I would personally like to congradulate the people and business of Steel Butterfly for upholding and far surpassing my standards for them which are constantly at an all-time high. Without you, all would be lost."

The Ministry of Trade and Economy wishes to send its congratulations that Steel Butterfly's economy is so strong. We are glad that you are not suffering as we are, as the recent UN resolution sent our already low economy tanking. We have been forced to cease imports for the next three months (NS time), and we are struggling to find new ways to improve our economy.

As a rule, Lietuveska is socialist. However, we are looking to somewhat allow private enterprise, though this may cost us our place in the CACE. However, many Lietuvs are in absolute fury at the government, claiming that it should repeal from the CACE immediately, as its ideals are what are blamed to have tanked the Lietuv economy anyway.

OOC: How it works is, the government and sometimes Nemerov himself holds 49% of most major companies stocks. Therefore, the government can be overturned by everyone else if they so desire, enabliling free trade. That being said, the government weilds major influence in business decisions...but most high business men and corporate CEO's are in the government as well...so it all balances out.

OOC: In my case the Royal Family has always been investors in areas that they believe are important for the progress of the nation. They have been note to commit non-leathal "foundercide" when needed and the Herzog Trust balking at an IPO tends to be seen as giving a 'junk' rating to such endevors, also the massive selling off of stock by the family trust has a negative impact and forces other investors to scutinize what is occuring within that company.

ISD is keeping a list of those nations that they have found that have attempted methods of regulating the excuberance of the ecconomy without trying to create an overbearing beuracracy. (Why is anyone's guess at the moment)

We consider ourselves a liberal and libertarian state, yet we have nothing to do with the UN, having recognized it long ago for what it was and resigned our membership. As a result of our policies balancing individual freedoms and self-interest with the interests of the state, our economy has been running counter to this recent trend; while others falter, ours has doubled in growth. A free populace produces, and a free trade policy enriches.
