Another day, another battle system.

Slowly she started the battle. The Madcat began at a walk, slowly moving around, warily avoiding the outcropping to it's right. Suddenly a volly of Swarm missiles slammed into the grounds in front of it. The Madcat went to full speed and returned fire at the Summoner that had come over a nearby hill.

Over the next thirty-five minutes they fought until both mechs were battered and neither had any working energy weapons. The Mechs circled eachother, not wanting to fire first, as both had limited ammo left. The Summoner finally fired a Gauss round and recieved three volleys of missiles in return. The pilot ejected and the mech exploded into a roiling fireball a second later, leaving only the legs remaining.

A siren bellowed, followed by a voice coming over the PA system. "Test has been completed. Mech has powered down. Area is now open to authorized crews."

Fleet Admiral Telsia Munro stood in the control room, watching the activity through the SBR(Starship-Battle-Rated) window.

The Madcat stood alone on the battlefield now. Techs were swarming around it's feet and scientists checking equipment in where the cockpit would have been.

Munro looks down at what looked like the inside of a Mech cockpit, the pilot, wearing a neural uplink and 'looking' at the battlefield through holograms in front of her eyes, was smiling and confering with a scientist about how the system responded.

The test was a sucess, UBM(Unmanned Battlemechs) were within the Empire's grasp. No longer would so many of the heavy heatsinks be needed, no more would the Empire send pilots off to battle, knowing that 30% would probably not come back.

A press release was made a few minutes later, including the entire battle sequence being played out afterwards.

On the LRR traveling mothership, in mars orbit, forigen affairs minister Elvis Costello is very worried. He loiters outside the observatory office, waiting to be informed about the gravity of the situation.

"Mr. Costello?"
"Yes?"
"You can come in now."
"Oh, thanks."

He walks into a dark room, lit only by the hundreds of computer monitors mounted on the walls and ceiling, of course it doesn't really matter which is which in zero-g.

"Here's the Crimmond feed."
"That one?"
"No, to the right."
"That one."
"Yep. Now, as you can see, this shows two mechs battling it out. Nothing serious, right?"
"Er.......right?"
"Well, one of the mechs has an occupant. The other is unmanned."
"Unmanned? Is it RC or........autonomous?"
"I don't know. But we didn't pick up anything coming out of it or to it. We think its autonomous."
"Geesh. People are really nuts these days. Let's just hope it doesn't go haywire and rampage about. Thats certainly happened enough times."

OOC: Hmmm. I should have made clear what the press release said. Best do that now.

IC: The release states that the Madcat was in fact piloted remotely from a control center nearby. The system is to be tested fruther and will slowly be partially integrated into the Crimmond Mech Corps within two decades.

Transmission to Crimmond:
"Crimmond R&D, Bajon is interested in your remote system. We offer to help develop it with you, and if not, we wish to make a deal to have it placed in our own mechs. Good Mech pilots are hard to find, and we have found our Remote Drone Fighter technology incompatible with the mechs. We are eager to hear back from your team."

I am afraid that the offer from Bajon must be denied on the following grounds:

1: New technology. The Imperium does not usualy trade newly developed technologies to any nation and refuses to even think of trading tech that is still being tested.

2: The GDODAD. While we are not by any means Anti-GDODAD, being a former member ourselves, we are not Pro-GDODAD. We wish to see what course the alliance will take before deciding on any policy regarding trade with it's members. While we trust the words of Daimen Dreadfire, one always has to have doubts. To do otherwise would be illogical, judging by the pasts of many of the members.

3: System compatability. The system uses technologies developed by us, by us and is made for our mechs, which are heavily modified and redesigned internally to fit our standards of technology.

Rseponse to Crimmond R&D:
"Certainly understandable. To be honest, Bajon would be unwilling to sale new technology also. I will not touch on the GDODAD subject, for that discussion may go on for too long. However, we remain hopeful that our nations can work together in the future."

Oh yes, I am quite sure we could work together and I look forward to working with your scientists on whatever the project may be.

Another press release is made. This one shows the video of Saleea piloting a Hunchback Series I. The fight is lopsided however, considering that her opponent's mech is a Warhawk, also known as the 'walking apartment building'. It has become infamous for destroying smaller Mechs in one strike

She does lose to the overwealming firepower of the Warhawk in the end, despite inflicting three gyro hits and causing one of the Warhawks heatsinks to fail.

The test is considered a success, as it proves what the remote link can do. A warrior piloting a smaller Mech need not hold back for fear of losing against a superior enemy and can make attacks that would kill a Mechwarrior ten times over.

The testing phase is almost completed and the system is slated to be introduced into active service in the next decade.

IC: Hmm... Several of your Mechs against one of ours? Not very promising odds, unless it is a Warhawk or Jagermech... We would be interested to know which you would be sending.
