Knootian-Skargardian island crisis resolved
“Good evening, today officials from every party in Skargarden held a meeting to decide in issues regarding the whole relationship between Knootoss and Skargarden. The leading party, Moderaterna lead by President Sedin Krak had a major upper hand in voice majority but the result was bluffing anyway, 54.6% of the government (where Moderaterna holds 60% of the total votes). The talks with Knootoss was resumed and the President and the Knootian Prime Minister Lousewies van der Laan continued their meeting in The Hague more exactly in the appropriate place called ‘Peace Palace’. The meeting was going on in behind shut doors and no one really knew what was going on before they finally stepped out 3 days later shaking hands and looking quite tired from the pressure they’ve experienced.
It’s been though. Mrs. van der Laan is a much more capable negotiator than me but I think that the new deal we got is more than acceptable from both our views. I only hope that the rest of the government is accepting it or I’ll have to keep the Knootian Prime Minister in here for another three days, but I wouldn’t mind
The treaty-papers were sent to Skargarden capitol Malmo to be viewed and accepted by the rest of the governing bodies. And we can gladly say that every piece of the governing body accepted the treaty.
"I am truly very relieved that this situation has been resolved. It appears that both parties just needed to level for a moment and seek some common ground. And yes, I am very pleased with the result because we Knootians value peace above all and if we need to make a concession to give the Skargardians peace of mind we'll do just that."
Prime minister van der Laan also said that "the continued friendship between both our peoples can now be combined with a feeling of security in the region."
The treaty involves the military base on the island will still be standing there but this time Skargardian and Knootian forces will man the base together, with a rotating command.
It is believed that thusly, Skargarden can keep happenings on the island in check and ensure regional stability.
It was agreed that the economic relations between Skargarden and Knootoss would remain, as well as retaining the military pact. Skargarden parliament however insisted that the Knootian/Menelmacari pact be thoroughly evaluated after a year.
