Steamtech roleplaying nations.

The purpose of this thread is to make a survey on nations that could fit in the same roleplaying group Tarvalak falls in, and this would be the one of Steamtech/Steampunk.
I would be very interested to comence good roleplaying happenings with other nations of the like. In Tarvalak's case, it would be actually a mixture of both Steampunk and fantasy (firts of all, it is a Dwarven nation), although the first one tends to prevail.
Now, is there any other nation that falls into the same category?
Note: Steamtech/Steampunk is a setting of hyperadvanced XIX technology (from there the Steam- name). It does indeed touch the line between reality and science-ficction/fantasy, butSteamtech/Steampunk characterizes for being very attached to the real possibilities of steam-based technologies. Most Steamtech/Steampunk settings are located somewhere within the XIX century, although there is a good number that, like in my case, prefer to set it into a more fantastic/mythological medieval setting.
...Many nations still use steamtech... If you mean like old steam locomotives, then say that, but every Modern nation I know of still mines coal for fuel or uses nuclear reactors.
But, I think I get what you mean, you want to see advancedtech running on old frames... like high-speed steam engines?
On second thought, I was thinking of turning my other nation "Raysia" into a sort of Crimson skies world, where everyone (except military) uses piston planes and zeppelins ;)

Ah, Steampunk, a most interesting subject. I actually created the entire history of my nation based on Steampunk, although the FTR is a nation intended towards high-future roleplay.
However, I would gladly create a new nation for the sake of good Steampunk roleplay.
Just tell me...should I move to your region (which seems to be Thaenor) or you would prefer it to stay out? (I have always been facinated by Steampunk, and the only reason I had not made a nation for it before was because I had not found anyone else that would share the like for it).
To ZDF: Steampunk goes somewhat through that line, actually. Crimsom Skies does indeed use a different tipe of Steampunk setting, although SP is much wider than that. Another example would be the serie (and now, the movie) of the Legue of Extraqordinary Gentlement. You can clearly note quite a lot of Steampunk settings on it.
Steampunk is, in essence, Science Fiction, in which you go back in time one century, to the Age of Inventions (the last two decades of the XIX century, during which the most fantastic creations of steam machinery were made). It ranges from steam powered pistols to trains so big that they hold entire fortresses in them, to even getting to steam powered robots, flying machines and even time machines and cyborgs, in the most extreme cases.

Crimson Skies used steamtech and teslatech (all those crazy Tesla inventions of the early 20th century)

Correct. Wild Wild West uses the Wild West Steampunk setting, which has become very famous among GURPS roleplayers lately (in the Wierd West setting).
Tesla-related inventions are usually incorporated into Steampunk as well, being them on the technological spearhead of the setting.
To Tarvalak: Very well, I have made a new nation (Vladisvak). I will send a telegram to you to corroborate and ask for regional incorporation (for the sake of good roleplay, I can work on a regional map as well, if you wish).
Sweet, I just passed a law in Raysia that seriously opens up the Airspace, and even though we are 2010-tech on a military level, the civillian population level can be steampunk etc... that'd be fun!

I have recieved your Telegram, and you are most than welcomed to join Thaenor (and I am glad to see that you choose to make a dwarven nation as well. Things will go better than I supposed).
As for the map, as soon as I finish thinking on the regional shape, I will inform you, so you can work on it. Thank you for the proposal.
As for Raysia/ZDF, Technocratic Republics has said what is it about. If you would like to participate on future roleplays, join the region, etc, you are most than welcomed.

Glad we are to be now part of Thaenor. Many and very interesting encounters will spanw from this, I can assure you.
My nation is steamtech, I'm thinking about adding other elements to it like Crimson Skies and Warhammer 40K but still keep the steam.
Nuclear reactors, coal-fired power can both count as steamtech as both of them uses different process to create steam which is needed to turn the turbines.

Tesla-tech? I use that, and I'm post-modern. But this sounds cool, guys, keep it up!

Yes, although Nuclear Power would be find at the very edge of technological advancement, and usually found in very rudimentary ways (in other words, very powerfull but highly insecure and dangerous).
It is the mixture of these elements that makes this setting so interesting.

That should become into a quite nice way of roleplaying your cities.

That's what I am looking for, good, ancient-modernistic steamtech roleplay. (btw, that SteamEarth projects seems highly interesting. I am a Steampunk writer/roleplayer myself in RL).

Metzengerstein

OOC: I might be interested in this RP. However, since I based Metzengerstein entirely on the works of Poe -- everything over which I have control is some form of Poe reference -- my "steam technology" nation is more creepy and less scientific. Metzengerstein would be more likely to see things like Jack the Ripper than Welles/Verne style machinery.
I'll watch this thread, though, and see how things develop. :)
