Direct Democracy is a new Region with a strong founding political theory.
For your convenience, here is our Mission Statement:
Direct Democrats believe that Democracy and Representation are two opposite terms, and that today's communication media allow for the physical historical barrier to true Democracy to be at long last lifted.
In brief : Direct Democracy means the People can finally take back a legitimate political power that they had lent to Representatives out of necessity and then forgotten they could own.
Direct Democracy means:
1) all citizens get their say in the matters that concern them, through a distributed civic telecomunications unit.
2) all citizens can submit structured and coherent law proposals to vote (with a progressive trial-filtering process)
3) the action of the Delegates (who while still necessary, are not Representatives) is submitted to the constant possibility of recall by vote
All are welcome to come discuss these theories in depth in the meeting halls of the Direct Democracy region. All constructive critism is warmly welcomed.
