Ejacistan to embrace nuclear power

19-11-2003, 14:54
In a bid to reduce its reliance on fossil fuels, the Armed Republic of Ejacistan seeks to embrace nuclear power as an energy source to fuel its economy. In doing so, it also hopes to leverage the value-creating potential of its natural uranium assets beyond the export revenue that they currently provide.

The ARE does not intend to create any military nuclear capacity in the near future. The ARE has no plans to enrich uranium for warhead use, and any by-product weapons-grade material created from its nuclear energy program will either be recycled into the program, or converted into near-ore matter and returned to the earth from whence it was extracted.

On a related matter, the ARE wishes to hire knowledgeable scientists in the field for the purposes of applying current nuclear technology into a workable power solution, as well as disposing of unneeded matter in a politically and environmentally safe manner. Any nations willing to offer such assistance will be rewarded more than adequately either in cash or in trade concessions, whichever they may prefer.

In light of the scarcity of response and assistance, Ejacistan will now proceed with its nuclear program independently, relying on whatever scientific expertise it can buy on the international shadow market. In doing so, it also accepts absolutely no oversight watchdogs into the workings of its program, given that the international community apparently considers the ARE's nuclear program as a purely internal matter.

That is all. Carry on.

OOC: Well, the fact that you are one day old sorta makes people nervous about giving out nuclear tech. A lot of nations say they won't use them for weapons, but they do as soon as they get their hands on the tech.

Well, looks like he was mod-nuked anyway. Kaukolastan steals his research and laughs.

Hmmm.... what did he do to get a MMD(Mod of Mass Destruction) released on him?

I know, he seems nice enough... (No sarcism intended)

'Twould seem that our premature foray into atomic energy was not seen favourably by the powers-that-be of the international community. Either that, or they found offense in our passionate (and some would say explicit) national ideals as expressed in our proud name and motto, which shall not be repeated in honour of our sadly-fallen banner.

Ahh, no matter. Our government has reconstituted into the new Republic of Craktonija with nary a material loss of populace or the like. Long live the People's Republic of Craktonija!

- the exiled government of Ejacistan, now the Governing Council of the People's Republic of Craktonija.

Welcome back.

*hands back research*

There you go.

^^ thank you.

Unfortunately, in the short duration of our nuclear program, we were unable to find any useful scientific expertise to assist us. Accordingly, the 'research' that we did conduct amounted to no more than some crayon doodles we did on the back of a napkin at the local waterhole. Any useful information finding its way onto that napkin would have been purely coincidental, and in any case would have been rendered completely useless by my subsequent attempts to mop up a beer spill with said napkin.

Well, here's how NOT to get nukes for your country...
