"Straken, are you sure about this?"
"I'm positive what we are about to do is for the greater good of Neo-Wu, my Liege."
"I pray to the heavens you are right, Colonel."
************************************************
The locals of Lorien stood bewildered and in awe at the massive war machines passing through their town. Tanks, mobile artillery, humvees, ATP's; all prepped and ready for conflict. Dozens of Blackhawks filled the sky, ready to deliver their cargo upon their unsuspecting target. Strangely enough, their target was not an international enemy, but a building they swore to protect when they enlisted into the Imperial Legions...
The workers at the Supreme Imperial Court House just outside of Lorien hadn't noticed much wrong, but their did seem to be more noise from outside than usual. They had no idea what was about to go down, much less understand that it will change Neo-Wu forever. The blackhawks began to encircle the court house, like vultures about to swoop down on a rotting carcass.
Four artillery platforms steered off the main road and entered a small forest, just 900 feet away from the building. They found a nice spot in the middle of the trees to initiate the bombardment, and the soldiers on the platforms began to plug the firing coordinates into the digital tracking device. After entering the information, the massive cannon barrels automatically realligned themselves in order to match the target given. After that, the men and women of the artillery battery waited quietly for the Commissar to give the orders to attack.
A loud beep began to echo inside the command tank from the communications link. The Commissar picked pressed the flashing green button, and put on the headphones.
~Battery in place, sir. Awaiting orders to initiate bombardment.~
"Excellent. Begin the attack."
~At once, my Liege.~
In a matter of seconds, the courthouse erupted into smoke, fire, and falling stone. The panicking Neo-Wuwians inside began to evacutate, sprinting madly to their cars. The battery shot again. This time, one shell went astray and landed in the middle of the parking lot, hurling cars and civilians into the air. They shot again.
The tanks closed off the main road from both sides, in order to keep the people from the courthouse from escaping. As the court workers tried desperately to leave, the Blackhawks began to release the soldiers into the parking lot and into the road. The infantry immediately gunned down the civilians and hand cuffed them, as large transport trucks drove up to the carnage to haul them away.
It did not take long for news casts to reach the scene, since some people from in town phoned them earlier about the military's movement. When the news teams reached the battlezone, all that was left were some demolished cars, and a smoldering court house. The platoon was not fast to leave, either. They wanted the whole world to see that Neo-Wu had suffered a surprise attack from themselves. For some, it was the beginning of the end. Once the Emperor found out, complete mobilization of the Legions would occur, and when that happened, the civil war would be under way....
