Discovery
In the Year of our Lord 1100 A.D. a merchant vessel from England and bound for Florence was blown off course during a storm in the Mediterranean Sea and landed on the white sandy beaches of what is now the city Newerport. The capitan of the ship, Capitan Edward B. Elood ordered the men of the ship to begin repairs while he and a small exploration party scouted the area. Within three days they met a small group of men from a nearby tribe called the Allegos who lead them to their small village, a village that the Capitan was quick to discover was built on the slopes of a mountain that turned out to be rich in diamonds which he named Mount Edward (it is now called, Mount St. Edward in his honor).
After holding a disscussion with the tribal leaders for a day and a half the Capitan and the Allegos came to a mutual understanding and the Capitan returned to the ship and ordered 50 men to remain and to build a fort until he returned from England.
It took him a year to find his way back.
OOC: I'm going to do the history in increments so I can make sure all of my facts are straight and have some loose basis in history.
