History

Founding

Long ago, a human colony was established on a desolate world, known as The Forsaken Planet. The purpose of this colony was to experiment with cloning experiments. The scientists would take the DNA of people with favourable characteristics, then make many duplicates. The duplicates, having no previous memories would be effectively 'programmed' to serve. These experiments, though in early stages, were making great progress, so the government decided to try something a little more ambitious. They started cloning non-humans (extra-terrestrial sentients).

The cloning was successful - non-humans could be cloned, and matured to adulthood just as the humans had been. However, the mind 'programming' techniques used were designed only for humans, and it was necessary to keep these alien clones in captivity as they would often rebel against their masters. The colony officials decided to try standard "brain-washing" techniques instead, which had worked on non-humans in the past, just not as well.

Despite the risks, the government ordered the cloning of a powerful psionic being, whose DNA had been claimed after his death in a great war. After creating the clone, they started to indoctrinate the clone with their ideologies. However, they underestimated this clone's intelligence. He learned quickly, and was only pretending to be subservient. After much planning, the clone, calling himself Radassat, used his telekinetic power to communicate with the other clones and organised a rebellion. The former masters didn't stand a chance. A single psionic blast from Radassat could slaughter several troops in an instant. Only the scientists who surrendered were spared. The former cloning colony became the independent clone nation, Clonetopia.

Early days

As the nation grew in size, Radassat focused on developing a powerful military. Clones were produced to fight as soldiers, and the descendents on non-cloned humans worked in the private sector, creating the economy to power the military. The population were allowed to do almost anything provided it did not harm the economy.

War!

After many decades, rebel groups began to emerge among the non-clones who were unhappy with the ultra-capitalistic state. They created encampments hidden in the sandy wasteland of The Forsaken Planet. Over the years, these encampments became towns and cities. When they were eventually discovered by the expanding Clonetopian military, their immediate destruction was ordered. The rebels fought back, and with the aid of other nations, Clonetopia was forced to grant them their freedom.

Post-war

After the war, the non-clone population was greatly reduced by all of the emigrating people. Only the clones, with their emotionless, programmed minds continued to live in Clonetopia. Many of the former military clones were re-assigned as civilians. In order to keep these civilians under better control, civil freedoms were decreased, and a little social welfare granted.

Migration

Shortly after Clonetopia reached a population of 1 billion, the emperor decided that The Forsaken Planet was too limited with it's poor natural resources and desolate landscape. It was decided that Clonetopia would become an Interplanetary nation, and its great space-faring technology was put to great use as Clonetopia spread itself over many of the planets of Sector Z.

The end...for now

This thread is part of the World Factbook (http://www.nationstates.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=74382&start=0&postdays=0&postorder=asc&highlight=), which I recommend to all RPing nations.
