Trasnia's decision: To pirate, or not to pirate?
...A question that is being asked by almost every Trasnian pirate today as the time fast approaches when the fateful decision must be made. Trasnia, a pirate nation for decades, has lived under the protectionof the Socialist Empire of Xanthal by ensuring that they do not commit their crimes in Xanthalian jurisdiction. In one week though they will be forced to reapply for protectorate status if they wish to continue having it, and the Xanthalian government has announced that unless the Trasnians cease their pirating their status will be denied. Trasnia's population now faces it's most difficult decision of all time: To give up the life they have always known and loved, or risk everything to continue their activities. The galaxy holds it's breath as it waits to see if this could be the end of the Trasnians' reign of terror over shipping lanes throughout the quadrant.
Xanthal is indeed prepared to revoke Trasnia's protectorate status, but we cannot feasibly move them off the planet of Talmaraan V. There will be many problems to work out if Trasnia is denied protectorate status.
Empire of Gradenk understand that this is an internal problem to be worked out between Trasnians and the Xanthalian Authority.
However in the event that their Protectorate is revoked ( We certainly hope so!!! ) Gradenk would be more than willing to send their huge transporters to evict trasnians. This news would be watched with great attention by the space navy of Gradenk as they despise pirates and would do whatever it takes ( legally of course ) to vanquish the the threat. ( i/e the pirates)
OOC: Basically setting the stage between future RPs between TRasnians and the GRadenk Space Navy ( and our precious trade cargoes being transported to and fro from Xanthal to Gradenk )
No matter what happens, we are not leaving our home. Xanthal knows this, and they know that we can hurt them if they try to make us.
Silence! The Empire does not fear the likes of you! I promise you that things will not go your way this time!

The fleets of Menelmacar stand ready to respond to decades of Trasnian harrassing of shipping, in the typical Menelmacari fashion - painfully.
Piracy will not be tolerated; should Trasnian activities continue we will not hesitate to eradicate the Trasnian ability to cause their unique form of trouble.

We have to agree with our Menelmacari comrades. The cargo vessels, as few as there are, Fenwick uses, as of now, are constantly under the escort of the FCS Dreamcatcher and the FCS Dawnbringer.

Xanthal, I remember you seeking better relations with Menelmacar. One way to start would be to stand aside on this matter - if they are no longer your protectorate, it would be a bad precedent to set if you continued to treat them as one.
We may be willing to arrange for a diplomatic summit between our realms if this matter is resolved in a fashion pleasing to Menelmacar.

Xanthal still wishes to initiate relations with Menelmacar, but we will not be bribed. When and if the Trasnians are relocated you may do as you will with them, but as long as they are within our space our laws still apply.

The deadline has passed and Trasnia has still not presented us with a renewal request. Their protectorate status has been revoked. They have requested that they be allowed to stay in residence on Talmaraan V; we saw no reason to deny them that; so they will not be moving.

If they attack Teritoran shiping or attack any shiping in Teritoran space, the Teritoran Space police will go after them and launch a full planetary assult if we have to. We have the assult ships and forces needed to do so. But since they have not there should be no problems.

The Trasnians are cowards; they do not attack such prominent targets.

The Trasnians are cowards; they do not attack such prominent targets."Ah, but let's say you were in the piracy business. Would you attempt a lone attack on Melkor's trade? I doubt it. It would be suicide, so you attack smaller and easier targets. The lioness does not single out the weakest of the prey because the lioness is cowardly. She does it because it is the best target and will fall quickly. Going after the stroger ones would be wasting effort and energy and would let the easy prey escape."

Indeed. Next time you have one of your ships attacked by them observe the tactics they use. Clever or cowardly, they are both valid descriptors.

Indeed. Next time you have one of your ships attacked by them observe the tactics they use. Clever or cowardly, they are both valid descriptors.I doubt they would attack us. There is no real profit in it. We are nothing but a military task force. While we stayed in the galaxy, the Imperium pulled back to Sol. Our ships are the only FTL fleet of the Imperium and we act alone. No support from Sol. That os a place we may never see again. There are no cargo ships in this task force, except the Nebulon class frigates and destroyers, but those are quite capable of standing up to attack. The only thing that could really be good for the cartels is pirate attacks on us is just to warn the taskforce to stay away from their operations. Warnings we usually ignore, of course.
